Probelm with converting a field to uppercase

Hi All,
I am having problem with making the following code work. It is only when a value equivalent to 25 in the drop down is selected that the entry is converted to uppercase. I have the following code on the  Change event.
On Change Event:
if (RankdrpdwnList1.rawValue==25){   xfa.event.change = xfa.event.change.toUpperCase();
Please, I need help with this code.
Thanks
v/r
Tammy

Maybe try
if (RanddrpdwnList1.rawValue == 25) {
     this.rawValue = fieldName.rawValue.toUpperCase();
I don't know the field name for the data you are trying to convert, so you'll have to fill that in yourself.

    hai,
    I am facing some probelms with reports6i.
    1.when i try to mail one report it is coming in the 'eps' format.how
    can i open this format.
    2.we are calling the report using the command line method not
    run_product.for these reports 'Generate to File' menu is not working.It say
    an error like Umimplemented Error (rep-0999)
    3.In one report we are using clob field.but when we take the print output of
    this field some of the characters are missing in paper.the problem what we
    think is that, there is no entre key padding when a word wrap is
    occuring.We have to give it manually which is not applicable in all
    cases.Please give some methods to solve these probelms.
    Please treat this as an urgent matter.
    thanking you,

    If you have not set desformat you will get a file format determined by the driver of your default printer (even though you are not printing !). The file extension always seems to be .eps regardless of whether it is actually an eps (postscript) file.
    You can get other formats eg. pdf by setting desformat.
    If you do want to work with eps files you can download 'Ghostscript and GSView' which can display and convert them.

  • Changing character in a field to uppercase.

    Hi all,
    Got a form wherein the form data get populated with xml via a webservice. The data is send in lowercase, I need to change the characters in one specific field to uppercase.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Chris Fourie

    To change the text when inputted you can use the following custom keystroke script:
    // convert each entered character to upper case
    event.change = event.change.toUpperCase();
    To change the text to upper case upon exit from the form field, one can use the following custom format script:
    // convert entered text string to upper case
    event.value = event.value.toUpperCase();
    One could also create a document level script function to convert any passed string to upper case:
    function Upper(cString) {
    // convert passed string to upper case
    return cStirng.toUpperCase();
    } // end function
    The custom keystroke code becomes:
    // convert each entered character to upper case
    event.change = Upper(event.change);
    The custom format becomes
    // convert entered text string to upper case
    event.value = Upper(event.value);
    And the function can be called within any script in the PDF to covert a string to upper case.

  • When using the Database Connectivity Toolset, reads and writes with long binary fields are incompatible.

    I am trying to write LabVIEW Variants to long binary fields in a .mdb file using the Database Connectivity Toolset. I get errors when trying to convert the field back to a variant after reading it back from the database.
    I next tried flattening the variant before writing it and ultimately wound up doing the following experiments:
    1) If I use DB Tools Insert Data to write an ordinary string and read it back using a DB Tools Select Data, the string is converted from ASCII to Unicode.
    2) If I use DB Tools Create Parameterized Query to do an INSERT INTO or an UPDATE operation, specifying that the data is BINARY, then read it back using a DB Tools Select Data,
    the length of the string is prepended to the string itself as a big-endian four-byte integer.
    I can't think of any way to do a parameterized read, although the mechanism exists to return data via parameters.
    Presuming that this same problem affects Variants when they are written to the database and read back, I could see why I get an error. At least with flattened strings I have the option of discarding the length bytes from the beginning of the string.
    Am I missing something here?

    David,
    You've missed the point. When a data item is flattened to a string, the first four bytes of the string are expected to be the total length of the string in big-endian binary format. What is happening here is that preceding this four-byte length code is another copy of the same four bytes. If an ordinary string, "abcdefg" is used in place of the flattened data item, it will come back as <00><00><00><07>abcdefg. Here I've used to represent a byte in hexadecimal notation. This problem has nothing to do with flattening and unflattening data items. It has only to do with the data channel consisting of writing to and reading from the database.
    I am attaching three files that you can use to demonstrate the problem. The VI file c
    ontains an explanation of the problem and instructions for installing and operating the demonstration.

  • How do I convert inputted characters into Uppercase in JDeveloper 11.1.2?

    Hi Everyone:
    Back in 2007 when we were trying to figure this out, Steven Davelaar gave me the solution to use the Custom Properties as found here in this post.....
    Can I convert data inputted to Uppercase by using a EO/VO domain?
    It has been working for us excellently. I have been playing around in JDeveloper 11.1.2 and trying to implement the same thing in our reusable business components .jar file, but they have changed the Custom Properties so much, I am not sure what to do. I cannot seem to type in "Uppercase" in the Property section, and then "true" in the value section with the add dialogue box that is now supplied. I appears that the Custom Properties code is going into the ModelBundle file as opposed to the .xml file.
    Is there a way to do this in JDev 11.1.2? Yes, I know you could tell me to post this to the JDev forum, but in the last 2 weeks I have had 2 carefully researched threads in that forum and have gotten NO useful replies even after bringing them to the front of the forum several times. Frustrating waste of my time.
    I am hoping since Steven knew how to do this before, that he will possibly know how to do it again.
    Do I have to manually edit the XML file? Is this even possible in 11.1.2?
    Thank you so much in advance.

    Hi All:
    I have figured out my problem. When in the new 11.1.2 Custom Properties tab of an attribute, an individual must click on the arrow next to the "+" sign and choose "Non-translatable Property". This then fills in the Property column with the word "Property" and the Value column with the word "Value".
    The trick is to double click on the word Property which makes it editable and add "Uppercase", and double click on the word Value replacing it with "true" in order to translate to uppercase as described in the above mentioned post.
    I hope that is helpful to someone.

  • Problems with the 'Comments' field in iTunes

    First, sorry for my english (I'm danish).
    I've read a lot of threads here and everywhere else, but can't find a solution for my exact problem. I use Windows Vista and the newest version of iTunes.
    Most of my mp3 songs (35.000) are put directly in album folders to the folder 'D:My Music from another computer via a USB drive and the songs already have id3 tag information on them.
    I then add the albums to iTunes and most of my tag information is now updated in iTunes. Names, Artists, Genre, Year, everything is okay. By the way the songs have ID3v2.3 tag information. I see that in my Mp3tag v.2.42 application.
    But the problem is with the 'Comments' field:
    Those tags (originally put to the songs directly in the proberties of the song in Windows Explorer) will simply not transfer to iTunes 'Comments' field. And if I write something in the iTunes 'Comments' field this will not show up in the fields properties in windows Explorer. It looks like the 'Comments' fields in iTunes and in the proberties in the song are not connected at all!?
    I then found out, I could let iTunes convert the ID3 codes, but nothing happens except from when using v. 1.0 or 1.1, because then the comments tag are transferres, but unfortunately all the tags will only show 30 characters!!!
    And there's also a different story:
    A few albums though are put directly on my computer by using iTunes to import the CD. These songs have ID3 v.2.2 tags, so I guess iTunes import files in that format?
    And here it's a little different story. If I put comment data directly to the file proberties in Windows Explorer (after the CD's been imported to iTunes), the comments will show up in iTunes, but only as several 0 and 1 digits! On the other hand, if I put information directly in iTunes 'Comments' field it wil show up correctly in the file proberties! But it's only a few songs/albums that are handled that way.
    Well, bottom's line, I want to see my comments tags (which are allready there in the song's proberties) when I browse my music in my folders in Windows Explorer and I want to see the exact same comments if I go to browse my music in iTunes. That should not be a problem ... but it is not ...
    Can I please get a solution or at least an explanation, and hopefully in not too tecnical terms.

    I, too, hope someone will answer this! I am hoping to catalog my entire CD collection in iTunes and I want to include the storage box number somehow, thinking that "comments" would be a good place to do so. If I cannot do that I'll try to find a program other than iTumes to do it. Does anyone have any suggestions on this topic? ...perhaps I need to open a new thread?
    THANKS!
    Doug

  • MS Excel automatically converts numeric fields to date format

    I have at least 2 different spreadsheets where this happens.  I maintain them for months, adding, changing, deleting data.  They contain lots of data elements (numeric, text, date, etc).   Some columns are all numeric, some all dates,
    etc.  Then suddenly when I open the spreadsheet, my numeric formatted data has been converted to date format.  I see lots of # signs in cells, which is an indication that this happened, and selecting an affected cell shows a date, generally in the
    early 1900s, depending on the original numeric value that was in the cell.  I convert the fields back to numeric, but sometime later the same problem occurs -- numeric fields are now date formatted.  I cannot identfy any specific change that I make
    that would cause this.  And I only recognize it as having occurred when I open the spreadsheet, not anytime during its maintenance.  I am using MS Excel 2007 SP2 in a Windows XP SP3 environment.  The machine is well maintained and updated /
    kept current by our corporate IT group.  I have done numerous Internet searches and cannot find anything like this in any other blog.  Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
    Were some of the these data imported from a .csv file? As far as I know, data formats cannot be saved in .csv file. If this is the situation, try this:
    Save a copy of your .csv file changing the extension of your file from .csv to .txt
    open excel.
    go to DATA --> Import external data --> Import data --> browse to find the .txt file you made earlier
    The text import wizard should open.
    Click on delimited, click next
    click comma, click next
    You should now see all columns appear with heading GENERAL --> highlight the columns with the values that are changing to date and click TEXT (top right) instead. The heading of these columns should now change to TEXT.
    click finish
    Excel will now treat the column as text when it imports the data and will not change them to dates
    If this is not the situation, this issue might be caused by some add-ins.
    Start Excel in safe mode:  Press and hold the
    CTRL key, and then click the Excel program to start. Then, click File > Open to open the Excel file.
    If the problem does not occur in the safe mode, this issue might be related to some third-party add-ins in the Office program, we can try to disable them.

  • Convert a field to_number and use formatmask

    I like to convert a field into a number SRW.Set_field(0, to_number(:fieldname));
    as well create this mask 'N.NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN'
    SRW.SET_FORMAT_MASK('N.NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN'); or SRW.ATTR.FORMATMASK := 'N.NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN';
    All this srw doesn't work, why?

    The field doesn't have a datatype. The field's datatype is picked up from the column that is its source. Therefore, the datatype of a field is fixed at runtime and can't be changed.
    The srw.set_field_number() built-in only sets the value of a field, it doesn't change the field's type. If the datatype of the source column for a field was not "number" then the above call would have no effect.
    Likewise, the srw.set_format_mask() built-in only effects fields whose datatype is number.
    It sounds like what you're doing is trying to display both Character and Number values in a single field. The only way to do this with a single field is to base the field on a character column and do the formatting either in the SQL or PL/SQL that is the source of the column. This will limit you to the format masks available in both SQL or PL/SQL.
    Another way of doing it is to create 2 fields. One for the number value and one for the character value. Place the fields on top of each other and use format triggers to display one or the other. You can then use the srw.set_format_mask() against the number field if required.

    can you suggest me if i have a dynamic field symbol (table data) ,,,, How can i convert data types dynamically..
    if it is a static internal table i am achieving with WRITE TO statement.....but i have huge data in field symbols...
    Instead of all these , please specify the exact problem your are facing . What is it with date field ? . In SAP while printing the internal format will be converted to external. What is your requirement with this date field?
    My output looks some thing like this:

    I dont see any problems mentioned in your date field. Both your actual and expected outputs reflects the same in date field.

  • How to create a pdf/a-1b with a text field

    hello, I'm trying to execute a very simple task: create a pdf/a-1b containig a text field.
    using Acrobat XI pro, I created a simple pdf form with 1 form field of type text , then tried to save as pdf/A-1b. The pdf is saved but the form field is removed from resulting pdf.
    Here in detail the steps I made:
    0) configure adobe pdf printer to save as pdf/A-1b
    1) creat a test.txt with notepad
    2) print using acrobat pdf printer
    3) open the generated pdf with Acrobat XI
    4) in 'Standards' panel I see that pdf conform
    5) now go to 'Tools\Modules' and 'Modify'
    6) add a textbox field
    7) exit from 'Modify' mode and save
    8) in 'Standards' panel I see that pdf doesn't conform.
    9) I opened the preflight tool and see two errors
         a) "XMP property for a page object not predefined and no extension schema present".
         page reports the following Trigger values:
         - Extension schema is present in XMP: is not true
         - Property exists in PDF/A Standard: is not true
         b) Form field does not have an appearance dictionary
         page reports the following Trigger values:
         - Form field has an appearance dictionary: is not true
    I'm quite new to Acrobat: simply downloaded the Actobat XI evaluation version, created the file and added the text field. No special settings nor other configurations was applied,
    I'm wondering if someone else was able to reproduce this behavior.
    thank you for any comment

    First, about invalidating the PDF/A. I was told, but never had this confirmed nor tested, that editing a PDF/A will automatically cause the PDF/A status to be deleted from the file. This is because Acrobat does not know about the compatibility of every edit with every current (and future) PDF subset standard, so it is safest just to remove the indicator - if you turn off Adobe's PDF/A view mode which will prevent editing anyway.
    Now, you have a problem with the signatures. Possibly a very big one. Your description "2) fill the text field with some annotations and then sign the signature field 3) save the pdf" is a little too separated. At the time a file is signed it is saved, the hash calculated, and written to the file. So signing and saving are just one action. Yet an unsigned digital signature needs, it seems to me, no appearance.
    I think the solution is a simple one. Sign it, but not with a signature field. If it is PDF/A when you start it is probably PDF/A when you finish. Signature fields seem a distraction and obstacle to the important thing, signing.

  • Is there a way to print the check register with the Text field

    Hi,
    Is there a way to print the check register with the Text field and also each item's Text field?"
    When we enter a invoice we enter a generic text on the Basic Data tab then enter a "+" on each individual line item which in turns defaults to the generic text. Just wanted to know if the check register could draw in the individual line item detail where we can enter text that relates to just that line item. Sort of like the MIR7 draws in the detail for each item.
    Kindly help me in full fill the above requirement.

    I created a form with Single Choice fields, 4 days with times listed. But, I want the user to only be able to choose one time, and the time chosen to be unavailable for other users. How do I do this? I have 4 blocks of Single Choice fields in order for the summary page to give me each day in the final report. But, I need the user to be able to make a selection of any day and time and that apointment to no longer be available to future users when they log in. Plus, when the user clicks on the time, they are unable to change their mind and choose another time. Here's the link if you want to see what I'm talking about: 2015-2016 Workload Apportionment Review

    I'm afraid not.    It's not rocket science but you need to do some coding.
    You'll need to find a script (php) and save it to your local site folder.  Then reference the script in your form's action attribute like so.
         <form action="path/form-to-email-script.php" >
    The input fields in your HTML form need to exactly match the script variables.
    I'm  assuming you're hosted on a Linux server which uses PHP code.  Linux servers are also case sensitive, so upper case names are not the same as lower case names.  It's usually best to use all lower case names in your form and script to avoid confusion.
