Probelm with decision step type

Hi,
I am using the decision step type to display release and reject the options to the approver . i am using the latest end tab to escalate( forward) the workitem to next available approver .( deadline monitoring 30 min) .
workitem is generating in the 2nd available approver inbox after 30 min  . but the same workitem is still available in the 1st approver  inbox ( of course it display the message the following deadline was missed and latest end reached) .
But even after the 2nd approver gets the workitem in his inbox  ,the  1st approver is able to execute the same workitem by ignoring the message .
Please can any one explain me what is reason behind this.
Please can any one helping me how can i delete the workitem in the 1st approver  inbox once the workitem is created in the 2nd approver inbox  .

Just follow the steps
1)You can use Latest End Tab in a Step which is attached to a task. Use Modelled deadline. Using this another branch is created from the step.
2)Activate the Outcome Processing obsolete for the Step that needs to be sent to the Manager.
3) Now put a process control in the branch that has been created due to modelled deadline. Use "Set Workitem to Obsolete" in the Function and provide the Step number in which the deadline step is incorporated.
4) Now create another step at the branch Processing obsolete of the step that has the deadline and copy the above step with deadline removing the deadline part. This step is only for 2nd approver.

  • User Decision step type

    Hi,
I have developed a WF for 'Notification of Absence'. In this, a leave request is sent for approval.
When the leave request is Rejected, the creator has to make a decision (User Decision step type used) as to 'Withdraw' or 'Update' the request. But in the inbox of the creator, there is no option for "Withdraw' and 'Update'. What could be the reason for this? Am i missing something?
    Thank you for your time.
    Ajay

    Hi AD,
are you trying to process anything else after the Decision Step in your WF definition ?
If yes, then what are you trying to process after it
If no, then try what JMB said, GUI problem, I doubt that but you can try as you need to resolve it.
Did you try removing the buffer ?
    Hope it helps.

  • When i run a sequence with ivi step types in simulation mode i get the error code number BFFA0015 - Types do not match.

When i run the sequence with ivi step types in simulation mode i get the error Types do not mathc. The step that generates this error is an IviScope step type and is configured as a measurement. Th weird thing is that in real mode is working perfectly. I have three measure steps and i get the error in all of them. The exact error message is:
UUT Result: Error, Error executing substep 'Post'. An exception occurred calling 'RunStep' in 'ISubstep' of 'TestStand Ivi Step Types 1.0 Type Library' An error occurred while executing the step. Component Works IVI Control Error: The IVI Read operation failed on channel '1' for logical name 'SampleScope'. Details: (1
) Types do not match. [IVI Error Code: BFFA0015] Source: TSIviStepTypes [Error Code: -30721, User-defined error code.]
Can someone tell me how to fix this problem?. It seems to me that the simulation generates a diferent type of measurement of that generated in real mode.

    Update:
The simulation driver appears to be raising the error. By switching to specific driver simulation the error does not occur. This may be a problem in either the class simulation driver or the specific driver.

  • Problem with Decision step execution

    Hi Friends,
I have a problem with executing a decision step. When I execute the decision using SAP_WAPI_DECISION_COMPLETE the workitem goes to completed state and doesn't do anything after that. But when I execute the same step from SBWP the subsequent steps gets executed and rest all works fine. I am sure there is a problem with Decision step . The task I am using is TS00008267. Is there a replacement for this step or is there something to do with feature ADVANCE WITH DIALOG or agents .I have agents in place. Please help.
    -Rajesh

when I write the decision using FM , the WI is set to completed but
I am not sending any status to workflow container from the task container
. Is this the issue for workflow not able to continue !
There is no necessity of sending any result back to the workitem container. In the decision step container , it contains a standard container element WIResult it will populated based, on the decision you took on the workitem (IF it is a Decisionworkitem).
when I execute the FM to write the decision, the task ( generic decision task)
    is not getting executed.
Can you pelase  let us know what is the return code, th function module is retruning back, once you try to execute the workitem  by using the FM, if it is other than zero then can you please let us know what is the message.
, Before trying to execute the workitem can you please check whether the workitem is stored in the standard workitem header table SWWWIHEAD. as the above function module will validate the workitem from the header table.....

  • Terminating Event with Decision Step

    Hi,
In our purchase requisition approval workflow, I need to have a decision step in which to prompt approver to either approve the req. or reject the requisition.  In this decision step, I need for it to have terminating events for "SIGNIFICANTLYCHANGED", "RELEASE", "REJECT" and "RESET".
First, I copy the generic decision task 8267 to my my own custom decision task.  Then I added a BUS2009 in the container, releasecode and other needed elements.  In this custom decision task, I was able to add these terminating events that has been defined in the BUS2009.  I was able to setup binding, except the one binding
    Terminating Event  ->   Task
    &_EVT_OBJECT&      ->   &_WI_OBJECT_ID&
Since the &_EVT_OBJECT& for the terminating event is BUS2009.  And the custom decision task &_WI_OBJECT_ID& is DECISION business object. They're incompatable business object.  So I replaced that binding with
    Terminating Event     ->  Task
    &_EVT_OBJECT&    ->   &PURCHASE_REQ&
After all the configuration has been setup.  I created a new purchase requisition.  Upon the RELEASESTEPCREATED event, it create a custom decision workitem in my agent's inbox.  When I triggered the "RELEASE" event, it is however not terminating my custom decision workitem.  The workitem still sits in the agent's inbox waiting to be execute.
Is it possible to setup terminating events for decision step?  Any kind of suggestions or inputs would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

I will suggest you to create a fork with 2 parallel branch and 1 necessary branch. Put the approval step in 1 branch and the wait for Release step event in another branch in this way you can suffice your requirment.

  • Miscellaneous tab  in User Decision step type ?

    Hi,
How miscellaneous tab would be useful and in what case(scenario) we would be going for that..
Also it would be helpful how it could be used.
    Thanks
    Ganesh

    Hi Ganesh,
The link is refering to your Tab. You are probably on a higher release than WAS6.20 which the help is for.
As Anuj mentioned this tab is for all the tasks the same. About what part of the tab do you have questions? I think the text in the tab is pretty self explanatory.

  • Workflow-step type condition

    hai all.....
I have got a problem while working with the step type 'condition' in workflow,i.e i want to check the values in internal table in my step type for example, whether the internal table is initial....please someone help me ..its very urgent...

    Hi Kasi,
I can provide u a simple workaround for this...
U can create another table within the workflow container of the same table type.
    name it as empty_<table>.
Than within the condition step, u can simply compare the original table with the dummy empty_<table>.
    This should solve your issue

  • Step type 'condition' in workflow

    hai all.....
I have got a problem while working with the step type 'condition' in workflow,i.e i want to check the values in internal table in my step type for example, whether the internal table is initial....please someone help me ..its very urgent...

    Hi Kiran,
For the Operator 'NX' u need not enter any comparison value. U click on the condition in the condition step type . A window appears and u click on the internal table in expression 1 and the operator as 'NX' . It doesnt need a comparison value.
Now u check this with the test data in the same window . U will have an icon in the bottom of window to enter test data and another icon to evalutate it . U check it with data and without data. It will work .
In ur reply to Kasi , Ur answer is not at all related with what kasi asked for .U can check the initial property while the data is in workflow container itself . Instead u r passing the data from workflow container to task container and then to method container and then the processing has to take place in BO and again the reverse should take place .Which is Unnecessary .

  • Add-on step types for TestStand?

I am almost certainly reinventing some wheels with Teststand by creating some basic test types.
For example, I just wrote a custom step type for taking an analog measurement from a DAQmx instrument. Surely someone has done this before, and surely someone will want to do it again. There's nothing proprietary about code that simple, and I'd be happy to give it away if there was a place to post it.
    Two questions:
    1. Is there an open-source repository for sharing custom step types?
    2. Are there add-ons for purchase with canned step types beyond those which come with TestStand?
    -Arthur

    Hi Jigg,
I looked at Averna.com, and I don't see any add-ins available on their website. It looks like they offer services mostly.
It's a good point about TS projects being so varied and customized. However, if custom step types are well architected, as the built-in step types are, then they ought to be reusable by others.
You're right also that I can accomplish my DAQmx steps easily using an Action step with the LV adapter. My motivation for the custom step is to improve the interface for setting up such an action. In particular, when using an IO channel in TS, I have to manually type in a text string for the DeviceName value, whereas I'd like to choose from a list of global names (e.g. with the global channel list control in LV). I can get this affect by using an Enum in a wrapper VI, which maps to an array of channel constants; but this is fragile if the available channels are changed (e.g. added, removed or renamed in MAX).
Additionally, a custom step type is better than a step template for my purposes, because I can propagate changes in the step type to instances of steps throughout the test. This is incredibly valuable to me during development and debugging. It saves me time when I want to update a step that I've used many times throughout a test sequence. Although TS isn't itself a programming language, I find that I expect it to share certain traits with programming languages to facilitate development, such as type abstractions and a strict enforcement of congruency between types and instances. But I digress....
    Thanks for your suggestions.

  • How can i modify a step type description?

I need to modify the description of some custom step types. I saw how this is made in the Basic Ivi step types. What i want to do is to display the current selected operation for an ivi step type as is done in the basic Ivi step type. Isaw that this is done just evaluating the vriable instrOperation and depending on the value you guys insert a name corresponding to that value.
I tried to do the same and modified a custom step's description in order to display the currently selected oparation. The problem is that i can't display any label...instead of the label i want to appear i get a "String not found in Table" message in the step's description. What table is this?...Do i need to make the changes i want in a table or i can just use some predefined labels?...this is because with simple words like FREQUENCY or INIT the description seems to work fine. What can i do to solve the problem?
This is the description i have in the step:
    ResStr("IVI_STEP_TYPE", "IVI", "IVI") + " " + ResStr("IVI_STEP_TYPE", "Counter", "Counter") + ": " + ((Step.LogicalName=="") ? ResStr("IVI_STEP_TYPE", "UNSPECIFIED LOGICAL NAME", "UNSPECIFIED LOGICAL NAME") : LocalizeExpression(Step.LogicalName)) + ", " + ResStr("IVI_STEP_TYPE", ((Step.Operation==0) ? "CONF FREQUENCY" : ((Step.Operation==1) ? "MEASURE" : ((Step.Operation==2) ? "READ" : ((Step.Operation==3) ? "INIT" : ((Step.Operation==4) ? "STATUS" : ((Step.Operation==5) ? "ABORT" : ((Step.Operation==6) ? "FETCH" : ((Step.Operation==7) ? "PERIOD" : ((Step.Operation==8) ? "CONF. VERTICAL" : ((Step.Operation==9) ? "CONF. INPUT IMPEDANCE" : ((Step.Operation==10) ? "CONF. BANDPASS FILTER" : ((Step.Operation==11) ? "CONF. LOWPASS FILTER" : ((Step.Operation==12) ? "CONF. HIGHPASS FILTER" : ((Step.Operation==13) ? "UNCONFIGURE FILTER" : ((Step.Operation==14) ? "SECONDARY EVENT" : ((Step.Operation==15) ? "RISE TIME" : ((Step.Operation==16) ? "FALL TIME" : ((Step.Operation==17) ? "POSITIVE PULSE" : ((Step.Operation==18) ? "NEGATIVE PULSE" : ((Step.Operation==19) ? "CONF. INTERVAL X TO Y MEAS" : ((Step.Operation==20) ? "CONF. PHASE X TO Y MEAS" : ((Step.Operation==21) ? "MEASURE X TO Y" : ((Step.Operation==22) ? "CONF. DIGITS STOP ARM" : "INVALID OPERATION"))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
and this is the description i get in some of the steps:
Ivi Counter, "Sample Counter", String not found in table

    Eromero -
The ResStr function retrieves a string from the TestStand language resource files. We call this a table. The funtion requires a category and tag value name. Review the Creating String Resource Files section in Chapter 3, page 6 of the User Manual for more details.
So the strings that you are already referencing are in the IviStepTypes.ini file in the
Components\NI\Language\English directory. You could add your new strings that you require to a sister file that you would create under the Components\User\Language\English directory, or you can remove the call to ResStr and just hardcode the string with your step type if you do not want the ability to translate the string for other languages.
The call that is probably failing is:
    ResStr
    ("IVI_STEP_TYPE", ((Step.Operation==0) ? "CONF FREQUENCY" : ...
Also, right now the call to ResStr("IVI_STEP_TYPE", "Counter", "Counter") is probably failing and just using the default value you supply in the call.

  • Set Decision Step in WF via Terminating Event

    Hi All,
I have a custom Work flow in which I am trying to terminate a Decision Step via a terminating event.
Following Pre- requisites have been set:
    1) In the Control task for the decision step I have assigned the terminating event.
    2) Required linkages have been maintained via SWE3 transaction.
ISSUE: When the terminating event is raised then the Workitem for this steps gsts completed but workflow ends with an ERROR --> "No Successor for the terminating event defined".
Please let me know if any of you is familiar with the issue or have any inputs.
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi Sourabh,
There would be some binding problem going with Decision step while using Terminating event maintained at
the Task of the Decision step.
Rather go with FORK step with two parallel branch and 1 necessary branch. Specify the approval step in one
branch and wait for the release step event in another branch.
Hope this way would solve your issue.
    Good luck

  • Custom step type revision

I have created several custom step types, but the names are not displayed correctly when I insert a step in a sequence. This worked fine in TS 2.0, but not in 3.0. Is there something that needs to be done with the version of the step type to be correctly recognized in TS 3.0.
    Thanks,
    Scott Trosper

    Scott -
I am not aware of any issues like this. The version of the step type should not make a difference. Basically the Default Step Name Expression on the General tab of the Step Type Properties dialog box defines the name of the step at insert time.
Could you append a sequence with the step type in it?
Could you specify what you got in TS 2.x and now what you get in 3.0 for the step name when you insert a new step?

  • Java Step Types with Java Virtual Machine higher than java-6u16?

Documentation of Java steps says, that these steps are tested with java version 6 update 16. I am talking about the java step types that can be found in directory <TestStand Public>\TestStand 2010\Examples\Java.
If I install another java version, e. g. java 7, step "Start JVM" will exit with an error "-4" and error message "Could not launch JVM.". While Debugging source code of JavaCall.dll, I figured the failing code line out:
"fpCreateJVM(&jvm,(void**)&env,&vm_args);" is the execution of function "JNI_CreateJavaVM" and returns error code -4.
Till now I could not find out, why the jvm does not start. I guess -4 means "Insufficient memory to create the JVM." (http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370052J-01/tssuppref/infotopics/java_steps_errors/)
Has anyone an advice for me?

This post gave me a hint: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3400292/jni-enomem-from-jni-createjavavm-when-calling-dll-that-us...
Though my development computer has enough ram, jvm is started within the Teststand process which offers limited memory. I changed JavaCall.c and added parameter "-Xmx64m" to the jvm creation call. Now it works with jre 7.
Because memory space Teststand offers to the jvm is different on different computers, an implementation would be nice that checks how much memory is available and then passes the calculated <MEM> as parameter "-Xmx<MEM>m". Here is an example implementation: https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1546540

  • Step Type not updating properly with LabVIEW

I have a custom steptype that reads the information from the step properties.  I also want this VI to be used as a stand alone.  So I read the sequence context handle to determine if I am running in TS or standalone.  This works fine.  Because it is a stand alone I have a cluster of all the variables the I will need input.  This is where the problems start.  I noticed that when I define the step type in TS that I load the prototype.  I choose to use the default values for the cluster input because I will read the real values inside the VI.  When I "EDIT" (ctrl-E) the step it works fine.  However at runtime I notice that occasionally the default value is used instead of the real data stored in the step type.  I assume there is a race condition for when my variables are loaded.  I assumed that when TS loads the prototype it will load the default values, then my LabVIEW TS properties will read and set the values of my VI.  What I am seeing is that about every other time my LV will read the steps and update the value correctly then other times TS will overwrite the values with the default after I have read them.  Some other wierd fluke I would notice that the variables would be updated in a similar but different named cluster.  This I haven't be able to reliably reproduce.  It is almost as if the references to the controls would get confused and switch to another control temporarily.
One fix that I have done is to not use the default value but pass the actual step value.  See attached pix.  This is tedious because some of my steps are large.  This is not flexible.  Some of my variables I would like to point to different locations, such as a FileGlobal instead of step.XXX.
Has anyone seen this before?  When does LabVIEW actually write the data from TS into the VI?  It appears that I am having a race condition between me updating the variables by reading the step values and when TS is loading the prototype.
I am using LV 7.1 and TS 3.5.
    Thanks.

    Hey Taylored_Solution,
I'd love to try to help you out with this issue you're having, but I'll be honest - I'm finding it a little hard to follow what's going on.
Have you been able to isolate this behavior to only one single VI (the one you're currently working on), or, is this behavior reproducible in multiple VIs?
I ask because if it's reproducible in multiple VIs (a new VI), would you mind giving me sort of "step-by-step" to follow so that I can try to reproduce and decipher the behavior you're currently seeing?
If it's isolated to the VI you're working on and not easily reproducible, can you create a copy of your VI, remove everything not-pertinent to the behavior you're seeing, and post a very simple example so that other users can take a look and weigh in?
