Problem Acrobat 3D

  • SWF Export, no font showing in Acrobat and zoom border problem (Acrobat & Reader) - Indesign CS6

    Hi Everyone,
If anyone could help me on this that would be great, I've spent hours on the forums and manuals to no avail.
I'm making an interactive PDF brochure in Indesign for one of our new products and I'm having issues (actual or perceived??!!) with the SWF export and PDF creation.  I'm placing animations and video in the INDD, exporting it as an SWF (with the text option as Flash Classic Text) and then opening the SWF (not importing to a word doc or anything, just opening the SWF) with Acrobat using the advanced options to import the video resources and to enable the content when the page is opened.  I then save the file as a PDF.  In the PDF everything works as it should, the animations, the buttons, the video plays and so on.  Great.. hmm not quite.
The trouble I am having is that all the content of the SWF when viewed in Acrobat seems to be getting rasterised/flattened - is this correct?  After the SWF is opened, Acrobat indicates no fonts in the fonts tab in the document properties so when the SWF is zoomed in Acrobat, or the saved PDF in Reader, the font gets pixelated and the document is not searchable/text can not be highlighted.  The images are not selectable either - it is as if the entire page has been flattened to one image.  Is there a way to stop this so that the SWF opened with Acrobat retains the font and individual images like a normal PDF?  Do I have to open the SWF in Flash first to set some parameters or something?  Is there something I am doing wrong when exprting the SWF from Indesign?  I think I have tried about every possible export combination.  When I open the .HMTL (exported at the same time as the SWF from Indesign) in a browser, the same happens.  All the animations work but the text appears to be rasterised/flattened/not searchable.  Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology.
I have tried importing the SWF back into another new INDD and exporting that as an interactive PDF but then the video does not work.  I suppose I could try exporting all the individual animations as SWFs, importing them all and trying to get them to work with the video but I can see that will take quite some time and does not seem to be a guaranteed solution from what I have read on the forums - video playback being the issue.
Another problem is that when the SWF, or saved PDF, is zoomed in Acrobat/Reader between approx 150% and 210% a thick white border appears in the document and the content is squashed into the middle creating a slightly pixelated and narrow page.  When I zoom out from the page I get a small white line on the right hand border at around 70% zoom.  Please see images.  Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
On another, sort of related topic, my timing panel went blank yesterday and was not showing any animations in documents that it had been used to order and synch animations on page load as well as new documents.  The panel was blank.  I updated to V8.0.1 and the panel sprang back into life - hope that helps anyone else finding the same problem.
I am not very familiar with Indesign/Acrobat/Flash so I guess all the above could be what I'm doing or I could be asking  really dumb questions - apologies from a newbie.
    Best,
    Emily

    Hi All,
I have now pretty much solved all the issues by creating the SWF in Flash rather than Indesign.  I would advise anyone looking to create an interative PDF with animation and interactivity to go with Flash from the start.  While Flash is a little more involved to create the same effects as Indesign, the extra time taken will ensure a more controllable and better looking PDF in terms of text quality, scalability and so on.  Plus you will not spend days trying to get video to work along side imported SWF etc in Indesign.  One of the best controls in Flash is being able to set the stage.scaleMode for the document so the PDF still looks crisp when zooming, no white borders etc.  So, create the .fla, export to .SWF, open the .SWF with Acrobat, modify the advanced settings to enable start on page load and save as a PDF.  If you don't know Flash, I didn't a couple of days ago, watch a couple of tutorials on Youtube.. buttons, tweens, embedding video and you'll be ready.  Don't be put off by ActionScript, there are really handy Code Snippets in CS6 that do all the heavy lifting for you.
    Sorry Indesign!
    Best,
    Em

  • Combine problems Acrobat Pro 7.0

    Computers are XP Pro SP3
    Excel version 2003
    Acrobat Professional 7.0
This is happening on at least two computers.  Users have, in the past, been able to combine several Excel files into a PDF file for distribution.  A folder may contain 100+ files, but the users have always been able to combine them in the past.  This month, Acrobat will be going through the process and just stop.  The computer doesn't hang up or display any errors.  Acrobat just stops with an Excel file open.
One clue may be that all our computers were updated to the Reader 9.3 last month.
I have tried removing the Reader totally.
I have tried removing and reinstalling Acro Pro 7.0 and letting it update.
I have tried the same combine while logged on as an administrator.
Any other help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Ed

Thanks Bill.  Yes, I did let AA7 update after installing.  They first noticed the problem yesterday, but it was the first time they had tried to combine any files since the Reader 9.3 update.  I can only assume the problem is related.  I'll try another update and see if it does anything.
    I appreciate the reply.

  • Backgound problem Acrobat standard. 8.0

I have a scaling problem with acrobat background.
If I convert a letter from word or excel into PDF or use an external PDF and I want to set my background behind that document.
The background is placed bigger behind it then when I open the background in pdf.
What should I change in the settings to have it fit as 100% behind my document.
I had this problem before and it got corrected automatically after a few weeks.
But since I reinstalled my comp the problem was there again.
    Greetings Pieter

I don;t know what UAC is, so not sure if it enabled or not. perhaps you can tell me how to check?
This acrobat 8.0 upgrade was downloaded from adobe, i don't have the CD to work off of. When the file d/l it came in a compressed format and needs to be opened in order to access the setup or install command. I cannot get the files to decompress into a destination folder. I expect it is a windows settings issue. But not knowing VISTA at all, i am at a loss to know how to fix it.

  • Filename sorting problem (acrobat)

    Hi
I have a Adobe CS4 (Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop etc). The problem is that the filenames listed  in Open File window (does not matter what you I click 'Open File' icon,  go to Menu - Open, or Crtl+O) are always sorted in Descending order. I want them to be sorted Ascending and to get it that way I have to change the View to Table, Click on Column header to re-sort them. This happens in all CS4 application and really makes my life difficult because I cant change the way it sorts files. What I tried so far without any luck:
    - changed sorting in Open File window within Acrobat, but it does not remember that
    - did previous operation running Acrobat as local Admin
    - changed the sorting in Windows Explorer, does not affect Acrobat
I will appreciate if anyone let me know how to fix this problem,
    Lance

apparently it was not an Adobe, but Windows issue. I found a fix and want to share it with others:
    ===============================================================================
Somehow or another, the sort order of the files can get changed in the
File Open Dialog Box, as well as any other common dialog box that lists
files based on the same control.
It is maddenly difficult to find the fix for this using Google.
    Anyway, the fix:
Right click My Computer, choose Explore.
Click on the C: Drive in the left pane.
Click on the View Menu, then choose List.
Right click in the empty whitespace area in the right pane where the
    files get listed.
    Choose Arrange Icons By.
    Pick "Name".
Verify files are sorted alphabetically. If not, repeat.
Press and hold the control key, then click on the "X" to close
    Explorer.
Then you can reopen explorer and set whatever default view you want in
    explorer.
The key here, is that the file open dialog box, and all other similar
controls, use the sort method saved when in "List" view. Nowhere else
have I seen this. If you do it using "Details" view, it won't fix the
    dialog box sort order.
I post this in the hopes that it might show up in a Google search the
next time I screw it up and can't remember how to fix it.
The above might only be true for my computer, but I have verified it,
and finally squashed the little cockroach of a problem.

  • PROBLEM Acrobat X Suite upgrade to eLearning Suite 6.1

I am a user of Acrobat X Suite.  I just purchased the eLearning Suite 6.1 upgrade for $599, as offered at:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/elearningsuite/buying-guide.displayTab2.html
I left Acrobat X Suite installed, assuming that the eLeraning Suite needed to see it for the upgrade.
When I go to install the eLearning Suite, it asks for my serial number.  I enter the new serial number that was emailed to me for my eLearning Suite purchase.
It then opens a windows titled "Serial Number Upgrade", which states the following:
"Serial Number you provided is valid, but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer".
"To use this serial number you must own one of the qualifying products.  Please choose the one you own and enter its serial number."
The window provides you with a drop down box that lists elegible products that you can use the eLeraning Suite upgrade with, and a place to enter your old serial number.
THE PROBLEM IS THAT ACROBAT X SUITE is  NOT listed in the list of products!!!!!
It appears to me that Adobe Sales/Marketing is NOT communicating with their Engineering Department on the products they offer for upgrades.
HELP! What can I do!  Its a Saturday night and Adobe customer support does not open until Monday.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    Mylenium,
I'm having a similar problem.  I'm upgrading from elearning suite 2.5 to 6.1, subscription, not an outright purchase.
I am able to download the installer correctly and unpack all the necessary files, directories are created, etc...  BUT, when I get the message listing all the modules that are going to be installed.  The installer tells me Acrobat Pro XI will be installed as a trial version, then the installer goes on and does what it says it will.
All the modules install correctly and are verified on the Adobe web site.  Alas Acrobat Pro XI will not verify as part of the subscription, and the serial number provided for the subscription, on the Adobe web site, will not activate Acrobat Pro XI, which doesn't suprise me.
I've been in contact with both customer sepport and technical support, over 12 days and about 9 hours of my time.  going round and round within multiple departments with multiple support personnel.  Still no solution.  But finally I got a single point of contact and an email address so I could ignore all the calls and emails I was getting on this issure, all asking me to start again from the begining.  Finally this support individual has been able to replicate the problem on their machines.  So some progress has been made.  But ........
I understand that Adobe want to figure out what is going on, but my need is different, I just need to get the software registered so I can move on.  At my billing rate, I've probably spent $1,800 working with Adobe, as opposed to working with my clients, when all they need to do for me, is give me a valid serial number for Acrobat Pro XI, then when they, on their time, figure out what is going on, send me a patch.  Then we can all be happy
As a tech support professional for over 20 years, in my company, I always have an escelation path for issues such as this, the objective is always to keep the customer happy, something I have NEVER experienced with Adobe Support.
Any thoughts on how one resolves an issue such as mine within Adobe?
As I've said to anyone who will listen, if (and when) a vendor bundels all the elearning needs I have, such as Adobe has done, I will switch in a minute.  Over the long years I've worked with Adobe products, this type of support experience has been the norm, not the exception.
I really like your products, but your support really really really sucks.

  • Serial Number Problems - Acrobat Pro 9

I recently asked Adobe's Online Support Centre to help me with my Serial Number on my Acrobat Pro 9.  The disk has been loaded onto my old computers but I cannot deregister them because I have thrown them away.  The online assistant fixed the problem for me so that I can use on my new computer, but after 2 weeks it has stopped working again.  Any suggesstions??

  • Double-sided printing problem Acrobat Pro

I am trying to print pdf docs (downloaded from scientfic journals) and do right thing by manual doubled-sided printing i.e. print even pages first in reverse, turn paper over and then print odd pages.
When I first print even pages in reverse it prints second page twice and when I print odd pages it does not print last page.
I have doing this for last 5 years using older versions of Acrobat Professional with no problems.
Windows XP Professional - Have lastest updates on Acrobat.
    Thank you.

    >I have doing this for last 5 years using older versions of Acrobat Professional with no problems.
and what version are you using now?

  • Installation problems - Acrobat 8 Pro

Hi. I've been trying to install the Adobe Acrobat Reader proffesional 8 on my system (Windows XP SP2, 512MB) and I keep on getting the same error message:
    "Error 1327. Invalid drive: G:\"
My Windows installer is up to date (3.0.1) so I don't see why there should be a problem.
By the way, it's the free trial version.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanx.

If it is the free trial version, there is no "Reader" in the name. Reader is a separate product. Where do you have the download file? Also, be sure you are logged in as the administrator. It sounds like the last time you downloaded something in your browser you used the G: drive. Try downloading to your hard drive and then run the install from the drive, not from the web.

  • PROBLEM: Acrobat 8 Professional on Vista Ultimate

    Hello,
I have a fresh-installed copy of Vista Ultimate released by Dell. I installed Adobe Photoshop CS3 and all went well. It's working. Then I installed Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. Installation went well. But when I try to open the program it opens a white window (that ocupies about 70% of the monitor surface) that closes immediately (not even 1 second). I'm not able to see any window title or any other detail.
I tried to search for this problem on other forums but I couldn't find any solution. I also tried to fix, then reinstall, then reinstall forcing trial mode. Nothing worked. Please help. Thank you in advance.
Later Edit: I've managed to do a print screen when the window was opening.. It has the title loaded: "Adobe Acrobat Professional" and it has the falldown menus (File Edit View Document...) loaded... And that's all... It's all white . Even the window name in the taskbar doesn't appear. Also Windows Vista doesn't give me any error, and it doesn't say that Acrobat has stopped working or anything like this.

I guess it's the latest version since it was downloaded yesterday from adobe website. I think they've integrated those updates in the setup package.
Anyway I've installed "Adobe Acrobat 8 licensing service update (Windows Vista only)" ... as the others were language patches. But I don't have in the Services nothing related to "FNP" ... just FLEXnet Licensing Service... which is active and started. and I followed the steps (I think): started cmd as administrator, and run the program... and I got:
    c:\Licensing-Service Patch>InstAS.exe
    Trying to install anchor service...
    Installation succeeded.
... but no Service added... even my Windows Defender didn't say anything about some program trying to do some changes... this seemed wierd...
Tried to do right click on InstAS.exe and "Run as Administrator".. same thing. I mention that Adobe was closed (also acrotray and acrodist). Still no service or process with that name: FNPLicensingservice . Also did a search on C:\ Drive for "FNPLicensingservice" ... nothing matched.

  • Printing Problem: Acrobat Reader XI is only printing booklet style.

I have hundreds of pdfs and when I opent them to print, it prints like a booklet. It is not happening with any other documents (from word, excel, google, etc) The print dialog box shows it printing 8.5 X 11 portrait, no scaling. I've checked every setting including the "advanced settings.' Any ideas?

I arrived here looking for a solution!  And while reading your post the penny dropped that I didn't have a serious problem.  I have a booklet of 112 pages and all I needed to do was re-order the pages as printed so that 1 is followed by a sheet with 2 on the under-face but same side and so on.  The pages had printed back to front and needed flipping.  But then I have a duplex printer and maybe that makes a difference.  Is it to do with your manual duplexing and the order that the second pass is presented to the printer.  As my duplex sheets effectively needed flipping over each one I'm wondering if you can solve your problem with a little experimentation and re-ordering before your second pass.

  • Print problem (Acrobat 7 Standard, Acrobat 8 Professional)

I have Acrobat 7 Standard Croatian. When we print any pdf document, we get strange characters (image: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd238/JelenaSi/print_error.gif ). I tried to reinstall, clean everything, print on 3 different printers and the same thing happens. Also, I tried to print files with Acrobat 8 Professional, Reader 7 and 8(2 days I'm installing and reinstalling that computer!)and all of that programs print something strange. All other computers in our company works just fine...
Is there any solution for this? Regional and language settings are set to croatian.
I don't want to reinstall windows(XP SP2) because of some complicated ebank installations...
    Thanks in advance.

Be sure to embed the fonts. I am not quite sure of the features using other languages, but embedding fonts is the first step usually.

  • Sticky notes problem, Acrobat reader

Hello, I was unable to find an answer to this question in old discussions therefore I have to ask it.
I am preparing pdf file with multiple comments for print. On some pages I have more than one comment and I can't have them all open at the same time. As soon as I try to open second comment first one opened closes. Are there some settings that I can adjust to have multiple pop-ups open at the same time? Is there any limitation to the number of comments opened?
On additional note, this problem seems to be inconsistent: at some pages I can open 4 comments at the same time and at some other ones can't even open 2.
Thank you in advance for help.

Use the Comments List.  Click the undock choice on the Comments List.
Select a comment in the List and the annotation on the PDF page will be given a highlighting effect around its boundaries.
    Be well...

  • Print problems Acrobat Pro V8.2.3

Since performing this most recent update, I have been unable to print any pdf files to any of my printers.  Instead of getting the normal clean, crisp image I've been used to, I get a garbled blotchy mess of large black pixels that in a rough way present the original image.  Text comes through okay, but always black:  colors are lost in the translation.  If I'm lucky I get grey.
No problem printing the same files using AcroReader 9.
I've worked through the preferences, print settings, etc. and I can't figure anything that could be causing this problem.  Other than me executing the update recently.  Yes, I dabbled with the "Black Point Compensation" toggle in the Color Management dialog (preferences), but that had no effect.
The Adobe printer works fine when generating pdfs from source documents, but when I attempt to "reprint" a pdf using this printer, I get the same garble, but only when using V8 Pro.  The reader worx fine.
All I can figure is that Adobe included some switch/toggle in the recent update that has truly messed up the print function.  Anybody else suffering this or know of a solution?
    OS:  WinXP Pro SP3

I found the answer in an earlier post:  http://forums.adobe.com/message/1171595#1171595  Wish it had been easier to find; search function proved inadequate.
In my case, I DO know -- or can guess -- how the check box in the print dialog was changed to "Print color as black."  I bought a new MS ergo keyboard and I'm having a horrible time dealing with it.  My old Lite-on SK-6000 keyboard was totally different (better) and appears to be irreplaceable.  And I'm a "keyboarder."  I eschew my trackball at ever opportunity.  I'm certain I inadvertently hit "ALT-I" and toggled it on.
I'm guessing it would take a true graphic artist type to want to use that toggle:  The output on my files is worse than what we process in sewage plants.  Truly.
