Problem adding classpath for managed server in 10.3

Hi All,
I have a managed server that uses startup classes. According to the documentation, you have to put the absolute path to the startup classes in the server's classpath. I go to the server's configuration and the Server Startup tab to enter the classpath information. When I do this and try to start the managed server I receive the following message:
<Jun 30, 2009 8:24:47 AM PDT> <Error> <NodeManager> <BEA-300048> <Unable to star
t the server IntegrationServer : Exception while starting server 'IntegrationSer
ver': java.io.IOException: Server failed to start up. See server output log for
more details.>
The server output log shows:
<Jun 30, 2009 8:24:47 AM> <Debug> <NodeManager> <Waiting for the process to die: 4288>
<Jun 30, 2009 8:24:47 AM> <Info> <NodeManager> <Server failed during startup so will not be restarted>
<Jun 30, 2009 8:24:47 AM> <Debug> <NodeManager> <runMonitor returned, setting finished=true and notifying waiters>
If I don't put the classpath in, the managed server will start up, but will throw classnotfound exceptions for the start classes.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
We are in a time crunch so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Greg

I've seen something like this before on a windows machine where the PATH environment variable had some additional values which contained spaces.
If it's a windows machine, could you check your path and see if there is more there then the default:
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem
In my case there where values like c:\program files\.... and WL couldnt handle that apparently.
when I removed them from my windows path it was fixed.
the logging you showed, is it the MS logging ?
Could you post the nodemanager logging as well, maybe it has more detailed information.

    Hi
    We have following configuration :-
We have 2 physical sesrvers :-
Server1 and Server2 in Sun Cluster running Solaris 10.
We also have Oracle DB server 9.2.0.8 in RAC mode, one instance each on Server1 & Server2.
    Server 1 :-
    cluster1 :- 1 Managed Server running
    Server 2 :-
    cluster2 :- 1 Managed Server running
we are getting following error in admin server log :-

Recently we have enabled the Connection Filter.
also getting following info in logs :-

Is it because of any misconfiguration in Connection filter ?
Or filter is not allowing the request for ipaddress and port of Managed Server in cluster1
    Thanks in advance .. :)

    Thanks for the information.
    Node Manager is not used.

In the script to stop Managed server we are using t3 protocol like : t3://ip:port but its not allowing t3 protocol .whereas t3 protocol is no where denied in rules.

  • Install window services for managed server

hi all, i wanted to install window services for managed server. Can anyone advice me how to do it? My weblogic version is 10. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Please refer to the following link....it might be helpful: http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/03/13/managed-server-as-windows-service/

  • Requirements for managing Server Core

    Hello,
What are the requirements for managing Server Core? We have a Windows 2008 functional level forest and domain and were thinking about installing 2012 server core servers but weren't sure we'd be able to manage them with 2008 server or Windows 7 tools.
    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
To remotely manage a server in server core mode, we can use the following ways:
    Remotely using Windows PowerShell
    Remotely using Server Manager
    Remotely using an MMC snap-in
    Remotely with Remote Desktop Services
However, we can’t use server manager in Windows Server 2008 or in RSAT for Windows 7 to remotely manage Windows Server 2012 in server core mode. To
use server manager to remotely manage Windows Server 2012 in server core mode, we must use the version of Server Manager in Windows Server 2012 or that is available as part of the Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 8 download package.
Regarding how to manage a Windows Server 2012 in server core mode, the following articles can be referred to for more information.

  • Startup problems for managed server

I am starting up a managed server - although I havent designated this server

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the cause might be - or what I
should investigate to narrow it down.
I am using WLS6.1 GA (it is an eval license).

Make sure you have admin server running when you start your managed server.
Also, in your admin server you have already configured this managed server
              name and it's ip address.

  • OSB: problem when starting a managed server in an OSB cluster

    Hi,
I used the configuration wizard to setup a very simple domain, containing a cluster with a managed server. When I start the managed server from the console I get prompted for the boot user and password. I specify the values I defined during the installation (weblogic user and custom passwort). After some time the managed server exists with the following exception:

What is its problem and how do I fix it? I have not configured anything special in the domain - just the cluster, a single machine and the managed server and admin server targeted at this machine.
The admin server starts without these problems. I also tried copying the boot.properties from the admin server to the managed server without any success - the same problem.

    Hi Anuj,
it turned out to be an OSB related problem - WLS forum would not have been able to help.
The startManagedWebLogic script should be run only within an environment which has been correctly setup using the domain setDomainEnv script. This seems to add some classpaths and stuff like this which, if missing, produces the exception - it actually has absolutely nothing to do with the user and password being wrong.
If you are using a node manager to start the managed servers then it should also be run within an evironment correctly setup with the domain's setDomainEnv script.
    Best regards

  • Problem installing Oracle Identity Manager Server  9.1

    Hello,
I try to install oracle identity Manager Server 9.1, but I'm having a problem.
Oracle identity manager 9.03 is already installed with jboss-4.0.3SP1 and j2sdk1.4.2_15
    and oracle 10.2.0
So I follow these steps to clean out the db:
    1. Drop tablespace: drop tablespace oimtbs including contents;
    2. Drop user: drop user oimuser cascade;
and ran prepare_xl_db.bat as instructed. No errors in the log.
I ran the DiagonasticDashboard : the db setup was fine.
When I ran the installer "setup_server.exe", i haved this message :
Folowing Error occured during schema creation
Error encountered while loading database script
    E:\OIM_Install\OIM9100\installServer\Xellerate/db/oracle/xell.sql
    Please contact your DBA!
    maximum key length (1478) exceeded
Does anybody have any idea what this error is about ?
    Thanks.

Index IDX_LKV_LKV_ENCODED on Table LKV (Column :- LKV_ENCODED - VARCHAR2(3000)) is failing on 2k block size. Though all the Indexes are working fine with the 4k block size.
But OIM Dev team recommends to create the 8k block size for the Index storage.
Because the blocksize affects the number of keys within each index node, it follows that the blocksize will have an effect on the structure of the index tree. All else being equal, large blocksizes will have more keys, resulting in a flatter index than the same index created in a 2k tablespace. A large blocksize will also reduce the number of consistent gets during index access, improving performance for scattered reads access.
HOW TO CREATE THE INDEXES IN LARGER BLOCKSIZE TABLESPACE
    In the existing database:-
Create a tablespace with the 8k blocksize, For Example
    First,
Set the system cache size for that particular db block size
    sql> alter system set db_8k_cache_size=100M;
    sql> CREATE TABLESPACE db_8k_tablespace DATAFILE 'C:/oracle/product/10.2.0/oradata/8k_file.dbf' SIZE 100M BLOCKSIZE 8192;
    Then
    Reorganize the Index using command:-
    sql> Alter Index <Index_Name> Rebuild tablespace <Tablespace_Name>

    Hi,
Configuration: Weblogic 8.1SP2 on Windows 2000, 1 admin server and 14
    managed
    servers
whats the right way from these 2 scenarious to create a domain on managed
    server
    1. create domain on managed server using configuration wizard. Then point
    to this
domain from administration server remote start tab(root directory). This
    is what
we do so far. This is the best way to create managed servers for your domain.
    >
    2. Just enter user_projects/domains folder/$domain name$ in remote start
    tab(root
    directory)
on admin server console and when you start the managed server from
    admin console
the domain folder and files will be created.
Yes, the managed server is started in this case at the root directory you specified.
    The difference is in the
    1. first case we see all scripts like startManagedWeblogic, setenv, boot.properties
    etc
this may help(we still dont know) if one wants to bring up managed
    server
    manually using
startManagedServer.bat without using node manager.Yes, that is correct. You will need to edit the startManagedServer.bat to include
the admin server URL, username and paswword..
    >
    2. second case only 2-3 files get created like msi-config.xml and SerializedSystemIni.dat
Basically first case is superset of second case.
What is the experience of people in this regard?
    thanks much

    Hi,
The problem is that the <b>directory /appl/webbus/bea/user_projects/domains/ITIC-DEVEL-WLI/</b> does not exist at the node, because we have move it to <b>/appl/webdbus/</b> instead of <b>/appl/webbus/</b>. The question is why applications need to create adminServerDevel/upload directory and how can override it.
    Thanks in advanced

    Hi Andrew
Thanks for the post. I have already followed that document link. My problem is the DTC does not failover to Second node when I try to move the SQL Server Engine to the other Node or I do a simulate failure option.
But when I shutdown Node 1 all the services move to Node 2 without any issue.

    Hi,
I got similiar errors when installing OEL 5 Update 6 on Oracle VM 2.2.1. But it seems that this error can be ignored.
I choosed PV type and the error seems different. I tried a few times without graphics support but failed. The only way works is enable the graphics support and install/configure the system using vncviewer.
    [root@oravm Lnx_Ora_64]# virt-install
Would you like a fully virtualized guest (yes or no)? This will allow you to run unmodified operating systems. no
What is the name of your virtual machine? Lnx_Ora_64
How much RAM should be allocated (in megabytes)? 32768
What would you like to use as the disk (path)? /OVS/running_pool/Lnx_Ora_64/Lnx_Ora_64_Root.dsk
How large would you like the disk (/OVS/running_pool/Lnx_Ora_64/Lnx_Ora_64_Root.dsk) to be (in gigabytes)? 100
Would you like to enable graphics support? (yes or no) yes
What is the install location? nfs:10.0.0.17:/mnt
    Starting install...
    Guest installation complete... restarting guest.

Connect to the vm using vncviewer.
    export DISPLAY=your_IP:0.0
    xm vncviewer DomainU
Then you can find that the OEL5U6 was installed successfully. But we cannot attach to the console to logon.
    Hope this helps!

  • Authentication denied: Boot identity not valid for Managed Server

    Weblogic 8.1 SP4. Solaris 2.8.
Initially, I only had the admin server in my domain. My application was targetted to the admin. Eventually, I created a new managed server so that my application would be targetted here and my admin server would just be dedicated to its admin tasks. I tried starting my managed server for the first time using the standard startManagedWeblogic.sh -
    I get this:
    ####<Aug 22, 2005 12:38:37 PM EDT> <Critical> <Security> <md3801> <winsManagedServer> <main> <<WLS Kernel>>
<> <BEA-090402> <Authentication denied: Boot identity not valid; The user name and/or password from the boot identity
file (boot.properties) is not valid. The boot identity may have been changed since the boot identity file was create
    d. Please edit and update the boot identity file with the proper values of username and password. The first time the
updated boot identity file is used to start the server, these new values are encrypted.>
    bash-2.03$
Starting the admin server is fine and it uses the same boot.properties file in my root directory (user weblogic). But when I start my managed server instance (which is in the same root directory), it complains about the boot.properties ! I assume it uses the same boot.properties file. Any insights ? Thanks.

    Hi,
You should know the right username and password, so you have to edit boot.properties by hand.
Remove user and password entry and re-insert them.

    Antenore.
