Problems while starting the Managed Server through Node Manager..

When I was trying to start a Managed Server using the Nodemanager , I am getting the following error :
NodeManager not configured to receive commands from host : emis-develop
I have the "nodemanager.hosts" file under the directory "c:\bea\wlserver6.1\config" and even while invoking the script for the startnodemanager , I am indicating this in the script ! Any ideas for this problem ??

The system is vulnerable to security attacks, since it trusts certificates signed by the demo trusted CA.> You may configure custom Identity and Trust in weblogic. It is not recommended to use Demo Trsut and Demo Identity for environments higher to Dev. -

  • Adding patch jar file while starting Managed Server through Node Manager

    Hi,
I am using Weblogic Express 10.0 on Linux env, Jrockit JVM.
I have a patch jar file from BEA, I added it to Weblogic start script, when I start the Managed server by using startManagedWeblogic.sh script, I can see that patch jar file is added to classpath when I grep for Java process.(ps -ef | grep -i java).
But when I start the Managed server through NodeManager and grep for java process, I dont see the patch jar file added to classpath of Managed server process which is started.
Can someone let me know if I have to add the patch jar file somewhere else along with Weblogic start script if starting Managed server through Node Manager?
    Weblogic Consultant

    Thanks for your response.
I found another way to do this.
Edit nodemanager.properties file and set StartScriptEnabled=true (By default it is false), and then restart the Node Manager process.
Enabling this setting to true will enable the NodeManager process to use startManagedWeblogic.sh script while starting the managed server, all the added jar files, memory settings will be taken from start script of Weblogic

  • Reg: Configuration of Managed Server through Node Manager

    Hello:
I have a question Regarding the System properties (-Dname= value
pairs) that are passed when starting the Managed Servers.
In the managed Server script I am passing below two name value pairs
    when starting the managed server
    -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBClass=com.inprise.vbroker.orb.ORB
    -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass=com.inprise.vbroker.orb.ORB
I am able to see these variables as <java System variabales > in the
    weblogic.log corresponding to managed server.
Next is starting managed server through the node manager. Now in this
case the Node managed recives the configuration
of the managed server from the Administration server and he then
    starts the managed server.
Now my question is though I have changed the startup scripts of
the Managed server to include the above two name value pairs. But I am
not able to see them in the congfiguration file in NodeManagerLogs
corresponding to the Managed Server. Also even in weblogic.log
    corresponding to the Managed Server.
Can any one clarify this. Also How to define the new system variables
for the Managed Server so that I can see them in the configuration
file that Adminitration Server sends to the Node Manager.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

    Thanks Anand.

    Vijay,
When you say managed server scripts do you mean startWeblogic.cmd ?
If you are using the node manger to start the managed servers then these
scripts are not executed. You should set the properties in the console.
    Goto YourDomain>Servers>YourManagedServer in the console.
    Select "Configuration" tab.
    Then select "Remote Start" tab.
In the "Remote Start" tab enter the properties in the "Arguments" field.

  • Unable to start SOA server through Node Manager

    Hi All,
I am trying to install AIA 11.1.1.6.0 on the top of SOA Suite 11.1.1.6.0.
I was able to install successfully the weblogic server, rcu, soa and osb servers. Now, before installing the AIA, the document i am following it says, make sure to start the soa server through the node manager.
Now i start the admin server, then the node manager, to make sure i have checked that the node manager is up, i logged in to the weblogic console, went to Machines, and i can see that it is up and reachable.
Now using the WLST commands, first i connected to the node manager using command nmConnect(), then i am trying to start the soa server through node manager using the command start('soa_server1') command.
I am getting an error while trying to start soa server with nmStart() command, below is the error message...
"Error starting server soa_server1: weblogic.nodemanager.NMException: Exception while starting server 'soa_server1'"
I executed the dumpStack() command, and i am getting the output as "No stack trace available"
If i am able to start the soa server through the node manager, i can go ahead and install the AIA pack but this is not letting me go forward.
I also tried to start the soa server through the weblogic console., go to servers tab, select the soa_server1 and start, the soa server state is going to "FAILED_NOT_RESTARTABLE".
I followed some of the blogs like...
    http://neeraj-soa-tips.blogspot.com/2010/06/starting-admin-and-managed-servers.html
    http://www.javamonamour.org/2011/09/nmconnect-nmstart-nmkill.html
    Experts, please give your advice.
    Many Thanks,
    N

    Hi Narsing,
I'm assuming that you've followed the required Pre-config steps. If it is not working, I'd suggest to start the Admin and SOA server without node manager first. Then start your node manager and see if it is reachable from the WLS console. Then shut down your SOA server from command prompt and restart your SOA server from WLS console.
Verify the Listen Address of your Node Manager and start your node manager from command prompt by explicitly specifying the same address and port.
As WLS console internally uses node manager only to start your server, you would not need to use WLST scripts to do the same and only SOA server needs to be started using node manager.
    Regards,
    Neeraj Sehgal
    Hi Neeraj,
I made sure that in the weblogic console, in the machines tab, local machine-->configuration--->Node Manager, I have given the correct Listen Address (Narsing-PC) and the listen port 5556.
I have made sure the property StartScriptEnabled= true.
I have started the admin server through startWebLogic.cmd command, now i start the node manager by going to the C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\bin and running the command startNodeManager.cmd, then i go to the weblogic console--->servers--->control--->soa_server1--->start , it is going to      FAILED_NOT_RESTARTABLE status.
If i see the log messages in the nodemanager.log, this is the below message...
    <Jun 28, 2012 11:25:09 PM> <INFO> <soa_domain> <soa_server1> <Server output log file is 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\soa_domain\servers\soa_server1\logs\soa_server1.out'>

An example to start managed servers on different machine is provided here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=6637
"By default, WebLogic is installed and configured with the DemoIdentity.jks keystore. This certificate and key are created by utils.CertGen with the default options of containing only the host name in the common name field (cn), and not the fully-qualified DNS name. As a result, attempts to establish SSL connections may fail in some situations due to a host name verification exception. When using the demo certificates in a multi-server domain, managed server instances will fail to boot if they cannot establish an SSL connection with the Admin Server and the a BAD_CERTIFICATE error is generated. This error occurs because the host name verifier, which is enabled by default in all WebLogic domains and which is used during the SSL handshake, compares the value of the cn field in the certificate with the fully-qualified DNS name of the SSL server that accepts the SSL connection. If these names do not match, the SSL connection is dropped."

  • Problem in starting the web-server after configuring .so on AIX

I am trying to configure a .so file in iplanet fasttrack web server 4.1 on AIX 4.3. I have build the .so file on IBM AIX 4.3. But while starting the web-server it failed to start. It fails when I include the following in obj.conf "Init fn="test-init" config="ConfigFile". While starting web-server I got the following :
server terminated (signal 11): watchdog is restarting it
    failure: server initialization failed
Any pointers on this would be helpful.

I got similar errors in the past when the web server process was running in the background. Sometimes shutting down WAS does not work.
Before you start WAS ensure that no java process is running or better try rebooting.

  • Stop managed server without node manager and admin server

What are the commonly used ways to stop managed Weblogic server without node manager running and without administration server running?
(I have only one solution: on the managed server startup dump process ID to a file, and then when I want to stop it, send a signal to this process ID and kill JVM. But it seems not very clean way.)
(The managed server is started when both node manager and admin server are down, and I provide boot.properties of admin server to the managed server to start.)
UPDATED: And I don't want to start neither admin server, nor node manager even temporarily.
    Edited by: user12163080 on Jun 24, 2010 4:40 AM

    Hai,
I read the Oracle weblogic wlst script document without Admin server you cannot connect the managed server through the WLST script. see the below lines
"The start command starts Managed Servers or clusters in a domain using Node Manager.
To use the start command, WLST must be connected to a running Administration Server.
To start Managed Servers without requiring a running Administration Server, use the
nmStart command with WLST connected to Node Manager."
"You shut down a server to which WLST is connected by entering the shutdown command
    without any arguments.
When connected to a Managed Server instance, you only use the shutdown command to shut
down the Managed Server instance to which WLST is connected; you cannot shut down another
server while connected to a Managed Server instance.
WLST uses Node Manager to shut down a Managed Server. When shutting down a Managed
Server, Node Manager must be running.
In the event of an error, the command returns"
They are two option if you are using adminserver then we can stop the any Managed server.
The option is if you are using the nodemanager without admin server we can stop the any Managed server.
The last final solution to kill the particular Managed server pid.

That is an INFO message you received and would not stop a managed server from starting. To get rid of that INFO message, enable tunneling on the admin server.
Check your node manager log file to see why the managed server is not starting.

  • Starting Managed Server using Node Manager Command Line

    Hi,
I've configured the Node Manager and it is connected to the Admin Server without problem. Now I wanted to start the Managed Server through the console but it is failing and my guess is the command line used syntax is not correct.
My question is, how do I change the command line that Node Manager uses to start the Managed Server? I've try using the Server Start tab configuration and it seems like not working. I've also try to update the .properties file for the Managed Server as well.
Each time I look at the Managed Server logs, it is giving me this line...
NodeManager> <Starting WebLogic server with command line: <....>
The command line shown in the logs are not what I've put in the .properties file or the Server Start tab. It is taken from somewhere and I'm not sure where. I just want to configure the command line that Node Manager uses to start a Managed Server.
Hopefully, I'm clear with my problem and someone might be able to assist. Thanks.

    Great stuff!!
It actually solved my problem. Thanks.
Am just wondering why it didn't work using option 1)? If anyone somehow knows the reason, if not at least it did work for me now.

hi, you should not do nothing with user root.
please, don't use root again for weblogic administration.
list all files with root permissions:
move to Middleware Home, example: cd /u01/app/oracle/Middleware
    find . -user root
if there are files with root permissions, change it to oracle:oinstall

  • Error while starting the workbench server.

I am trying to get familiar with endeca product. While working with endeca information discovery everything seems to be working fine according to their documentations.
but when I am doing endeca guided search , there seems to be some problems.Currently I have installed the following items -
    1)Endeca Server-
    2)Platform services.
    3)MDEX
    4)Workbench
    5)Deployment template.
While starting the workbench by running the following command-
    endeca/Workbench/2.1.2/server/bin/
    ./startup.sh
in log it is showing -
Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: Failed to start database '/endeca/Workbench/workspace/state/webstudiostore', see the next exception for details.
    at org.apache.derby.impl.jdbc.SQLExceptionFactory.getSQLException(Unknown Source)
    at org.apache.derby.impl.jdbc.SQLExceptionFactory40.wrapArgsForTransportAcrossDRDA(Unknown Source)
However the server is starting but having the exceptions.. The other issue is - I am not able to see any page by hitting the url -
    http//<workbech server>:8006/
it should give me the login page where the default userid and password would be - admin/admin.
I have performed the installation procedure according to endeca installation guide...
Has anyone faced the issue before or any idea /pointers will be highly appreciated...
    Regards,
    Hoque

Hi - can you provide the link to the documentation you're referring to for installation steps? For the Endeca Commerce product family (Guided Search is the base product), you don't need the 1)Endeca Server- that you mention in your list. For Endeca Commerce, the MDEX Engine is the equivalent to what you used the Endeca Server for in Information Discovery. So I don't think that should have showed up in the install steps.
Also, if you are just starting out to learn the product, I strongly recommend starting with the newest 3.1 release - you should find it easier to get started with. The documentation for that release is found here : http://tinyurl.com/cjyggls
I recommend starting with the Getting Started Guide in the common documentation set: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35823_01/index.html
