Problem after renaming Subject Area

Hi,
After renaming de Subject Area in Administration I´m not able to edit the reports built with this Subject Area. A message shows up in the columns pane telling something like "either you don´t have permission to use the subject area XXX within answers or the subject area does not exist".
What´s going on?
I really need help.

Check the "Aliases" tab of the presentation catalog (Subject Area) that you renamed. It should contain the previous name of your presentation catalog. If that doesn't exist, your reports should get the errors you have mentioned.

  • Rename Subject Area

What are the steps to rename a subject area in the Presentation Layer of the Admin Tool, so that any Answers reports pulling data from that subject area still work correctly?
I have tried to rename my subject area, and then I went to my report and replaced all references to the old Subject Area with the new one in the Advanced tab.
I am still missing the data formatting I set in the report though (i.e. number -> Currency)
Is there any way to get the formatting back?

I'm afraid not. Once you rename the Presentation Folder - it's not the same for Presentation Services purposes. What you can try to do is use the old name in the Aliases tab - but this might or might not work and is not generally recommended.

  • Problems after renaming root folders

    Hi
A colleague has decided to 'organise' iPhoto by renaming the 'Roll' folders. This seems to make iPhoto crash when selecting certain photos for editing. It also means that some photos are now 'missing'. I can't find the originals for relinking.
Does this make sense? Can I salvage anything? In theory, is it actually a problem that the Roll folders have been renamed?
    Thanks
    Ben

    Thanks Lori
Yes, she changed the Roll names of the original images in the root iPhoto folder. I'm guessing that this is where the problems stem from, since iPhoto has lost it's link to the images. I assume that the images which are now 'lost' were unmodified and those that are still OK were in the (unchanged) 'Modified' folder.
Perhaps if I rename all the folders 'Roll 1, Roll 2' etc, this will fix it?
I need to explain more about iPhoto/Mac to my colleagues!

  • Handling Reports if subject area is changed

    Hi,
We are using OBIEE 11g. We developed around 30 reports and around 50 prompts but problem is the Subject Area we used is now INVAID because its Re-Named.
My Question is what is the fastest way to link the reports and prompts to new subject area assuming all the table and column names will be same.
    Thanks

You can create aliases for the subject area to reflect the same name used prior to the change. In order to do that follow the steps below:
    1) Open the RPD.
    2) Double click on the subject area which was renamed and navigate to the aliases tab.
    3) Click on New Icon and type the subject area name prior to the change.
    Thanks,
    -Amith.

  • Unable to see the subject area in obiee11g after installing the biapps

    Hi All,
I had installed the BIAPPS 7.9.6.3. I am able to deploy RPD and webcatlog  successfully. After that i had faced the following issues
    1. Unable to login into analytics -- Resolved. ( I replaced the system-jazn-data with old fie (location : C:\OBIEE11G\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\config\fmwconfig) then after i am able to login.
    2. I am not able to see the subject areas as well as i am not able to edit the privileges through in manage privileges -- unresolved
Can any one help me how to resolve the issue. Is due to the system-jazn-file or any thing else
    Thanks in Advance
    Krishna

    Hi Kumar,
In that case I recommend you to check the view V_TBZJ1 in transaction SM30 and see whether the line
Subheader  Screen text   Description  Appl. Scrn.seq.cat.
    CRM001     Sales area data CRM          CRM1  CRM001
exist or not if not then pls maintain it.
Also check the view V_TBZJ1C for the lines below
    Subheader  Description         Item number  Active
    CRM001     CRM:Sales area data    2            X
If this also not exist then maintain it.
After this you will be able to see sales area tab when you will create the BP in role SP.
<b>Allot points if my post helps!!</b>

  • Renaming of subject area

    Hi All,
In RPD, I renamed my subject area and in Answers, I changed the subject area name for the reports using the 'Advanced Tab'. But, I get the following error:
"Either you do not have permission to use the subject area "XXX" within Answers, or the subject area does not exist."
The new subject area name has 85 characters. If I specify a name that is less than 80 characters, then I do not get the error when I modify the XML in the 'Advanced' Tab.
Is there any constraint on the length of the subject area name specified in RPD or is it due to some other issue?
    Thanks,
    Radhika

This might be something new for all of us in this forum where you have Subject Area with more than 80 characters. Please raise the SR with Oracle to see if they have some constraints in naming the subject area.
    Thanks

  • Subject Areas window problem

Hello, I am new to OBIEE.
I added the metadata of my source database to the repository.
Then in Oracle BI, I choose 'New analysis', I see on the left my metadata (in the Subject Areas window), so that starts good. But when I want to expand a table, to see the colums, a circle appears, and nothing happens. The circle is not moving/circling. What could be going wrong ?
Note. The BI Administration tool is not started/open.
Thanks in advance, best regards, André.

I solved a few issues and now I don't have any errors or warnings anymore in the 'Presentation' layer. In the 'Business Model and Mapping' layer there are also no errors or warnings. Only in the 'Physical' layer I get errors:
[38015] Physical tables "ORACLE11".."DM_CUSTOMER_BASE_AGG" and "ORACLE11".."DATAM"."DM_ADDRESSES_DIM" have multiple joins. Delete new foreign key object if it is a duplicate of existing foreign key.
Is this issue in the physical layer a problem ? I would find it ridiculous that multiple relations to one dimension are not allowed, because they are not duplicates but have different meaning.
    Thanks in advance,
    André.

  • Add Subject Areas after production

We are implementing Oracle BI Apps for customer who initially requires only Financials Analytics. Now he want to add Procurement and Spend Analytics and Supply Chain Analytics. Anybody knows how to include new subject areas in a ETL extraction without doing a full load for the subject areas extracted before?

Let me try to describe the model as best as possible.
I am trying to calculate the profitability of each customer for two banks. These banks have deposits, loans, leases, etc. Each customer is identified by a global id. The global ID is a dimension table. Then there is a the time Dimension.
Bank A has it's own deposits and Bank B does too. A customer can/cannot have accounts in Bank A/Bank B/or Both Bank A and B. Similarly a customer can have a lease in either or both of the banks and this continues for other products.
Each Global ID is referenced to a Client ID. Each client ID can have several Internal Keys which are referenced to each account the customer might have.
For bank A > deposits, i have a fact table which connects to the Dim Time and Dim Global customer table. there are other dimension tables which connect to the same fact.
Similarly bank B > deposits has the same look and feel. Only thing is i connected the fact of bank b - deposits to the same Time and Global Customer table. So now there is a circular join. And this join gets really complicated when i add the fact tables of other categories such as leasing, pawning, etc. Since my goal is to calculate the total of profitability from each of these categories (deposits + loans + pawning +...), i tried to write a formula but i do get the error that "no fact exists"
For the time being i have created individual connections for each product. For example, deposits will have its own global customer and time and be connected to that particular fact. Similarly, pawning will have its own global customer and time (created alias tables for each of them). So right now i have the profitability of each customer on different categories.
What i want to do is get the total of profitability for an individual customer for all the product type the customer has, and use that for further specific formula calculations.

  • Error 503 after renaming SharePoint Foundation 2013 Server

We renamed a SharePoint Foundation 2013 server using the procedure outlined here:
    http://www.bluesphereinc.com/blog/renaming-a-sharepoint-20102013-server/
Everything seemed to work fine until we tried to access the site afterwards. Now all we get when trying to access the site is the Error 503: Service is unavailable message. We can get into central administration without any problems.

    Hi  ,
According to your description, my understanding is that you encountered 503 error after renaming SharePoint Foundation 2013 Server.
For your issue, please refer to the actions as follow:
1.Check the web site properties in IIS. Under home directory tab, check the application pool value and then open that application pool from the application pools (separate node in the IIS tree). Click the
identity tab and see who is the pool assigned to. For the sake of testing, you can select "Predefined" and select local service from the drop down. Restart IIS and see if things work out for you. Http 503 error is generated by the IIS and it happens
when web server sends data stream back to the web site.
2.Verify that all SharePoint services are started, this error might occur because of changing the service account password. You may need to change the new password to application pool or SharePoint timer
service. Click the stopped application pool -> click advanced settings ->Identity ->click the user to retype the user ->Application Pool Identity dialog ->click set -> manually type the user name and password. Then restart the server.
If your issue persists, please provide detail error message of ULS log
to determine the exact cause of the error?
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS

  • After renaming a file extention from .jpeg to .jpg I can no longer type ...

After renaming a file extention from .jpeg to .jpg I can no longer type in any of the finder related editable fields/boxes. I can still type in my open applications fields.
This problem also happens when I happen to find a file that has been named, for instance, 2008jpg. When I add the period to have the file read correctly as 2008.jpg, a warning box appears asking - {*Are you sure you want to change the extention from ".jpeg" to ".jpg"?* If you make this change, your document may open in a different application.} Two radio buttons are available within this warning box that read - 1 - {Use .jpg}(it is not color coded, which means it must be selected manually. - 2 - {Keep .jpeg}(it is colored w/my Blue highlight color, which means it will be selected if the Enter Key is used.
The warning box does Not appear if I remove the period from a file and not again when i re-add the period to that same file.
After trying to make these types of edits to the name of any file, with any of the various extentions available for files in our digital world, I usually get an anomaly where myability to type in the Finder ceases to be a possibility.
I have found that I can Force Quit the Finder for a quick fix, but, I'm not sure that this Typing problem should have to be dealt with at all by this quick fix. Is this an issue with the Indexing in Spotlight, which seems to be giving many users problems?

I downloaded and tried EasyFind. It works but it took 30+ seconds to complete finding 3 files that are on One of my Five 25+ Gb partitions of my 130 Gb Seagate Cuda(Really 160 Gb, but my Sawtooth will only recognize 130) I figured that if I ever got a better box, I could reformat it to see the whole 160 Gb. So, as far as I can see, Spotlight's indexing scheme which finds the files instantly is probably preferable. Spot light allows you to rename your files from within it's app window. I've always thought that was pretty powerful. Could my doing so be causing me any issues? As i said it is the inability to Type in the Finder that seemed to be caused from changing file Extentions that were mis-written. Maybe it was a delayed reaction to my renaming files in the Spotlight app? I've done both on occasion.
As for these .DS_Store files. Apparently you can NOT stop them from being written to any folder that you touch/open/view during a days session. But, as a function of the OS, are the essential to have in their respective folders Forever? I've looked at the .DS_Store terminator app briefly and assume that getting rid of these files won't hurt the regular operation of my OS. They will just be re-written if I ever have to go back to any particular folder again. But, apparently, some have said that if the plan on burning a CD or DVD of their data, they delete the .DS_Store files first and then do the burn.
I'm thinking from your having suggested this tremination app that you suspect that my having all of these ,DS_Store files could be a situation where any of them could have become corrupted and terminating them regularly should be part of my regular maintenance.
Does that sound like I'm understanding what I can do?
    TIA

  • Consistency check error 38011: Logical tables from multiple subject areas..

I received multiple 38011 errors when performing a consistency check after merging repositories:
    For example:
Logical tables from multiple subject areas associated, OHRP and Enterprise Warehouse
(OHRP and Enterprise Warehouse refer to different business models)
I'm really not sure what this means, and Metalink and Google aren't turning up anything.
    Thoughts?
    -John

    John,
Does it say anything about Assertion Failure? Also, this is straight up from help regarding import (through file menu) "Use this option when the objects you import are unrelated to objects already in the repository such as when the business model and physical layer objects do not exist. If an object of the same name and type exists, the import process overwrites the existing object with the new object. When you import objects from one repository into another, the repository from which you are importing must be consistent."
Sometimes Merge does bring unexpected (and unwanted results) - especially if there're presentation aliases, duplicate business models, or naming conflicts. If it's not too late, I suggest you use Import, rather than Merge, also, preferably starting with a new RPD file. This would enable you to bring items piece-by-piece and hopefully would allow you to isolate the problem.
Also, depending on the size - it's sometimes preferable to just reproduce missing part(s). I hope this is helpful.
Also, I forgot to say - the Import is deprecated and not supported. They suggest you use Project Extract and Merge. If Merge isn't working out for you and Import isn't an option - maybe you could try Project.

  • Compounded Problems after updating to 10.5.8

I am desparate. Since upgrading my systems, including to 10.5.8, Safari 4 and iTunes 9 I now cannot print, cannot connect to iTunes Store (says no internet connection), cannot run AutoUpdate (also no internet connection) and now iTunes will not login to Facebook using the current application I use which worked perfectly before. In all my scrambling I have reverted back to previous Safari (4 was so super slow it was unusable even with permission repair and getting rid of several old plugins) I can't revert to previous iTunes because now the library has been converted somehow. I have downloaded a supposedly updated driver for my Canon printer and even bought a new Epson but neither works; it just says "printer offline". I even managed to drag my downloads to the menu bar and erased (?) the folder somehow (both on the bar and in Finder)
It just seems that since the OS update, parts of the system do not recognize the online connection and cannot communicate with it, even though it is working just fine. Same with the printer.
Other than buying a new computer and starting from scratch....does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this. I have bought Snow Leopard but am extremely hesitant to install it given the problems that I am having. I have tried many things and it just seems to be getting worse.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

It would seem that you may have installed the update over an already faulty setup.
There are no guarantees, but following this procedure when installing updates and upgrades on your Mac, or even re-installing them, will go a long way towards avoiding unpleasant after effects and ‘post-update stress disorder’.
It is also worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, as they have all been extensively beta-tested, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first to an external hard disk. Ideally you should always have a bootable clone of your system that enables you to revert to the previous pre-update state.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site.
The Combo updater of Leopard 10.5.8 can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Full details about the 10.5.8 update here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3606
More information on using Software Updater here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.4.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them compliant with the latest version of your operating system. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 3.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
If you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari.
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party add-on.
Additional tips on software installation here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
    • /Library/InputManagers
    • ~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).
