Problem building exe with dynamic vi

Hi all, i'm using LV 8.2 evaluation version to build an executable file for my test platform. This platform calls for individual test vis dynamically.
I can export the platform vi into exe alright but it always fail to run the test vis dynamically when called by the platform. I know the platform is working alright as it's able to successfully traverse through all my operating states, but when it comes to the state which contains a subVI which calls these test vis dynamically, nothing happens and it just proceed with the next state. The even wierder thing is that the program then enters my default state (which isn't even on the list of states for that particular operating mode!)
Based on this result i can say that the platform is working fine as it was able to call various subvis and traverse through the defined states (except for the default state case). Thus i guess it must be something which i did wrongly during the build process which caused it not to run my dynamic test vis. I spent the whole day trying various build options but it still doesn't run my dynamic vis.
Any ideas?
PS: Does the build process automatically import the MAX settings?

No, it's not a cracked version just to make myself clear.
Dennis, i don't think it's a problem with the path as the exe does not have any problem loading other text configuration files. Yes, i've included them under the dynamic vi and support files option.

  • WBS Hierarchy Logic build up with dynamic values

    Hello ABAP Crew.
I currently using BAPI_PROJECT_MAINTAIN, and I have to pass I_WBS_HIERARCHIE_TABLE with the hierarchy table made by me.  Does anyone have a logic on how to do this from values within a table?
Here are the values coming from a proxy:
    111520
    111520-111234
    111520-111234-19
    111520-111234-19-1
    111520-111234-19-2
    111520-111234-20-1
    111520-111234-20-4
The purpose is to place this into the table of I_WBS_HIERARCHIE_TABLE in the UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT  format.
Now the problem is, the list of values received will always be different.
    Thanks.

    Hi Jotorres,
Did you get a response for this question about WBS hierarchy logic build up with dynamic values? I have been trying to build it up myself, but its getting increasingly difficult. I wanted to know how you resolved this issue?
    Thanks a dozen !

  • Problem of building .exe with VI template as subVI

I'm having trouble to successfully build an .exe with VI template as a subvi. Please see the image for the error when executing the built file.
In my toplevel VI, I use two subpanels (side by side comparison), each subpanel loads the same subVI (saved as template in order to show the front panel). The code executes beautifully in development mode, but once it is built into executable (the subvi is added as dynamically loaded vi), only one subpanel loads the subvi, the other one is just blank, and an error message is displayed.
I understand there are other options here, but I would like to see if there are solutions before considering an alternative route. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    System
setup: WinXP Pro SP1 with LV7.
    Thank you,

    Hi Joe,
We've seen this error when using express VI's inside of template VI's which are loaded using VI server. Are you doing that? If yes, then take all the express VIs that are inside the template VI and turn them into static subVIs.
I don't know if it will help in your case, but let's try it.

Do you know what can i do? I'm using jdse1.3.1 and red hat linux 9.0.Thanks very much.

    Hi,
I ran into the same problem with RH 9.0. To fix this problem you have two options:
    1. Use jdk 1.4.x - if you use this jdk to perform the compile, you'll won't receive this error.
    2. Modify your make file that performs the javac and make the following change: javac -encoding "ISO-8859-1"
Both of those approaches should get rid of that error.
    Hope this helps?
    Cheers,

  • Problem building GTK with jbuild on Mac OS X

    Hi everyone,
I don't know if this is the right place to ask my question...
I cannot build GTK with jbuild on my Leopard 10.5.8 system.
I have deleted the Leopard built-in Python 2.5 folder (At that time I didn't know that deleting the default system Python is not good....) and I have installed Python 2.7 (from the .dmg file).
I also Installed Apple Developer Tools, which I guess should be XCode 3.0.
On the terminal I verified my Python version:
    $ which python
    /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/bin/python
Then I followed this guide to build GTK:
    http://sidhosting.co.uk/josh_fradley/getting-emesene-2-up-and-running-on-os-x/
which is basically the same as the one in Gnome site:
    http://live.gnome.org/GTK%2B/OSX/Building#Procedure
I followed the first guide, but it gives me some errors:

Anyone can tell me why I got this error?
It seems that jbuild doesn't see my xcode version? But I did install it!
It's very strange because I succeeded to do 'jbuild bootstrap' before when I used to have Python 2.5, although I got stuck for other commands more forward.
    Thanks everyone.

"ld: warning: file /opt/mysql/mysql/lib/libmysqlclient.a(libmysql.o): wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64Usually this kind of error is an indication that both 32- and 64-bit object files are being used in building the application. Use all 32-bit objects or 64-bit objects - please do not mix them during compilation.
If building from scratch is not mandatory for you, you can try installing postfix {and other applications, libraries, ..} with the help of Blastwave's 'pkg-get'. Some instrustions are at: http://technopark02.blogspot.com/2005/06/solaris-installing-appspackages-with.html

  • Problem building application with C++ 4.2 on Sun OS 5.9

    I have an application that builds fine with "WorkShop Compilers 4.2 30 Oct 1996 C++ 4.2" on SunOS devbox1 5.6 Generic_105181-33 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-Enterprise
On the same file system, I am trying to build the application on "SunOS devbox2 5.9 Generic_117171-12 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440"
I see that files like sys/siginfo.h do not get included. I guess C++ compiler should include such files by default (in the first case it does happen).
Also, when I add -H option to the compiler to see the header files included, I see that the headers included in the first as well as the second case are different.
Does anyone know why this is so?

Workshop 4.2 is not expected to work on Solaris 9. Workshop 4.2 is long past its End Of Service Life, and no support of any kind is available for it.
You can download the latest product, Sun Studio 11, and use it for free:
    http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/
Sun Studio 11 C++ (C++ 5.8) offers a mode where it is compatible with C++ 4.2. It compiles valid source code that C++ 4.2 compiled, and you can link binaries created by C++ 4.2 into programs built with Sun Studio 11.
Full details are in the C++ Migration Guide that comes with the compiler.
Regarding missing system header files in /usr/include or /usr/include/sys:
To compile programs on Solaris, Solaris must have been installed as a "developer" or "full" release. If you install only the minimum, you will be missing many features necessary for compiling programs.

  • Problem building kernel with makepkg

I tried several times building a custom 2.6.8.1 kernel with makepkg and the PKGBUILD file obtained from http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ker … with%20ABS. Unfortionately, the process allways ends with the following error:
ln: when making multiple links, last argument must be a directory
    make: *** [_modinst_] Error 1
    ==> ERROR: Build Failed.  Aborting...
Is there something wrong with the build file posted on the wiki or am I doing something stupid?

Err... I might have done a small mistake in my previous post.
I didn't try to build the kernel using the Wiki page above.
    I've used http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bui … with%20ABS
You can find below the revised PKGBUILD for that page. It might look weird, but it's very functional. It should also work with the stock kernels.
This PKGBUILD includes kernel version/revision autodetection. This helps when you apply patches which change those variables (such as ck, mm etc.). The changes I've made automatically change the package details (pkgname, pkgver, pkgdesc) to reflect the kernel changes.
Please test because I've made some cosmetic changes lately which might have scrambled something around there. If you find it working, please post here and I'll put it in the Wiki page above. Maybe it could also be used as a base for building kernels with the ABS.
    Any feedback is welcomed. Enjoy.

  • Build applications with dynamic loaded subVI's as dll

I want to build an application with some subVI's. The target would be to have an *.exe from the topVI and a seperate file for every subVI (I suppose this will then be a *.dll file)
The topVI uses the "call by reference node" with a "type specifier VI refnum" reference.
The path of the subVI's is read from a textfile and the subVI's are called dynamicly, all subVI's have the same connector layout.
Until now I was not able to generate a *.exe file wich is able to dynamicly call subVI's which are not included in the *.exe file (I tried with *.vi, *.llb and *.dll versions of the subVI's).
Building this application with all subVI's included in the *.exe is no problem and works fine, but is not what I want.
The target would be to have the possibility to update only some subVI's without the need to build the whole application again.
This way of working would increase the flexibility to have different combinations of versions a lot.
    I am using LV8.2.
Is my question anyway possible and if yes can somebody tell me how?
    Thanks!

A SubVI is actually what you call a sub-routine in text-based programming languages.
So when you build an executable from a VI with SubVI's, it will simply build everything into one exe file.
    That's normal behaviour.
If you would like to use dll's for flexibility, than you have to build VI's seperately for every dll you want to build.
These dll's can than be called from within you main application executable.
This practice is often used by system integrators to protect there code otherwise than a larger executable, but mainly because of easy maintenance.
That is what I think you are also looking at.
So what you would like to do is perfectly possible and common practice, you may only have to change your top view of the actual application.
    Best regards,

  • Building exe with installer

I am using Ni DAQmx and Labview 2009 professinal. I tried to build an exe and distribute it to my team. Initially they had issues
opening the file and instead opening the login screen it opened a main GUI screen with the errors as shown in output.jpg. I did some
search on this forum and I thought I will build the installer with LV runtime engine, DAQmx 8.5, MAX import ini file and send the msi
extension to my team. But on the process of building this I get the following error as shown in ni_install.jpg. When I select DAQmx
8.9.5 the build becomes unsuccesfull. Please need some help to resolve this.
    Thanks

    output.jpg ‏159 KB

My problem is building the installer before giving it to my team. When I right click "Build specification" and create installer I get
    application properties.
Product info: Provided my installer destination and other info
Source Files: I provided my exe into destination view - program files folder
Additional installer: I choose DAQmx, labview runtime engine 2009, MAX
And I filled all the info on the property setting window. With all this it comes up looking for NiDAQmx and defaults to drive CD drive.
Should I use my DAQmx CD at this point and then build the installer. Is it ok to build the .exe and then create the installer.
    Thanks

  • Is it possible to build exe with vis that have striped block diagrams?

We can tell that an entity has stolen our code and are using them in their .exe file.
We used to distribute our program as a light exe layer that dynamically loads some source code distribution vis (block diagram striped) off disk and runs them.
What we don't know is whether they actually got our in house source code, or if they are somehow taking the distributed vi's and compiling them into their exe.
So the question is: Is it possible to take vis compiled for a 'source distribution' with the block diagrams removed (but front panels not removed) and compile them into an executable?

It's actually quite possible to use a source distribution VI for a new app. You need to select the "Do not disconnect type definitions or remove unreferenced
members" option in the "Additional Exclusions" page.
I've attached an example on how this can be done. Untitled Project 1 would be your project, which has a build target of your app, along with the source distribution for a VI with the block diagram stripped. Untitled Project 2 would be your competitor's project, which is a VI that uses your subVI directly and builds a separate application. As you can see, I can successfully build an application using your code.

With the new build of QT (4.4.1-4) it seems to build ok again.

  • Problems building exe that includes dsc (vi's always in memory, causing an error)

    Hi,
Thank you for your time and expertise. I am trying to build an executable (Win2000, Labview 6.0.2 and DSC) but am consistantly being told that a group of vi and ctl files are already in memory. I have removed all non-essential cards, restarted my computer and attempted to build from a blank vi. Nothing should be in memory. Would there be a service running (from boot up) that is causing this? There is nothing left in my icon tray that would indicate that this is so.
Please note that one of the vi's is entitled "dsc_Engine Status.vi."

    Here is the problem:
You are attempting to build an application that uses VIs that are in memory. They are in memory for two reasons: One, you are using VIs that are used by LabVIEW, and two, they are used by LabVIEW DSC when it runs, by the service manager.
There are two solutions. One will get you there quickly. The other, will solve all of your applications building problems now and forever.
I will give you both and let you decide, however, I recommend the first, as it will solve your problems anytime you build an application.
    Solution 1:
Open your top level VI(s). Open the VI Hierarcy. Select the option that allows you to view the path of the VI when you do a mouseover. Go to each and every VI, global, and control. Ensure that each is in your development or deployment directory, and NOT in /National Instruments/LabVIEW...etc directories. These are NI Core functions, and you should build with a copy only. This will take a lot of time, and may cause crashes (I had problems changing things in the hierarchy.) Try doing a "save all" about every 3 or so VI that you change. To change the location, you must first stop all services. Goto the Service Manager and select "Stop all Services". This should unload all the callers for these functions. Now, go to the hierarchy, and for everything in the LabVIEW directories, open it, and "save as" in your directory. This will cause the callers to look in your directory for the copy you are using. As I said, save all once in a while. Also, when prompted to affect the change in all VIs in memory, select YES.
When you have copied all resources, save all once again, and close everything, including LabVIEW. Now close LabVIEW. Take the directory into which you moved all of these functions, and move it off the computer temporarily (don't rename, remove to a different drive, or a zip drive). Then restart LabVIEW. If anything got moved incorrectly, you will be asked to search for it. Open a new VI, and select save all, to remake the file search paths stay with LabVIEW. Do NOT have your project open when you do this.
Now, replace your folder where it was originally, and restart LabVIEW. You can now build your application.
    Solution 2:
Start LabVIEW. Goto the Service Manager and select "Quit Service Manager". When prompted, select yes to stop all services and quit.
    Now build your application.
The reason the first solution is better is because you always want a copy of all NI Resource VIs, Globals, and Controls in separate location for your build. This not only prevents issues such as the one you mention above, but also solves a lot of other issues, including any changes to those core functions that may occur in newer versions of LabVIEW that may affect your program.
    Good luck.
