We want to install Forte C++ on this machine. The default directory at which the software is installed is /opt. It also gives option to change the install
Directory. We created a directory Forte under /export/home and provided
/export/home/forte as install directory.
We selected the following software for installation.
License Software (FLEXIm7.0)
License patches for Forte Developer 6
Forte C++ Enterprise Edition 6
It gives WARNING INSUFFICIENT DISK PARTITION SPACE TO INSTALL THE ITEMS SELECTED.
WARNING: /export/home/forte has insufficient space to install the items selected. 206.7 MB additional space would be needed to install the selected items.
Total Space Required:

Product: Forte C++ Enterp Ed 6/Intel
Location:/export/home/forte
Size 272.1MB
Problem:
If you add up the space required, it is
5.9 + .479 + 271.1 = 277.5 MB
It's complaining that it needs 206.7 MB additional space?
There is 4 Gig space in that directory...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
It seems to me that unsufficient space in the root dir. Just advice: make root bigger and try to found out how to make /opt with necessary size. You will have problem if you install in non default path and will fix it.

Problem Oracle10G Installation in Solaris-x86
Hai,

exsting oracle universal installer.log for this session can be found at /tmp/orainstaller/datetime....
I am using ---
Oracle version : Oracle Database 10g Release 1(10.1.0.3) for Solaris x86
Solaris Version : Solaris 5.10
can any one help me out from this problem....
Thanks in advance ....
-LakeshOracle 10G release 1 only support up to Solaris 9.
You probably need to install 10G release 2. The second release of major Oracle version is always more stable anyway.

Problem occured with installation Solaris 10 on x86!
Hello all!
I am a newbie with Solaris, please help me to resolve this problem following:
I setup successfully Solaris 10 on my PC, during the processing, I did not choose value option for DHCP (Option No), then, the host name was unknown
I set the name for NFS as Ora9i. But when my Solaris operating system startup, it request login console. I tried to test with host name "unknown", password correctly, but I did not log in console or XWindows.
How do I do now?
Thank you!(I am not sure that the install process has been the correct one)
anyway:
at the console login prompt you have to write the superuser name and its password... not the name of the host.
login: root
password: rootpassword

Problem in compilation using Sun Studio 11
Hello,
We are migrating from a Solaris 8 to a Solaris 10 OS. At the same ttime we are also migrating from Ingres 2.6 to Ingres 2006. As a part of the creation of teh development environment, we are recompiling all the codes on teh new OS. WE have installed teh Sun Studio 11 compiler for this purpose. When compiling some C codes, we are getting the following error:
"am_xxxxxxxx.c", line 2596: warning: statement not reached
"am_xxxxxxxx.c", line 2778: undefined symbol: i8

We have exported teh following:

We are struggling with this issue for the last one week. Can someone please help me with this issue?
Could this be because the 64 bit library files are not installed? Please help.
AneeshaThe LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variables determine where the runtime loader looks for shared libraries when you run an application. It is unlikely to be the source of compile-time errors.
I suspect that doing two major changes at the same time has resulted in undefined names and other problems, probably due to missing or incorrect header inclusion. If possible, make one change at a time, either compile the old code on the new OS, or the new code on the old OS, and get that to work first.
Check the Ingress documentation to see if you need to make source code changes when upgrading, and follow any recommendations there. You might also need to take up this problem with Ingress tech support.
Regarding LD_LIBRARY_PATH, the best advice is usually "don't set it at all". For more on this topic, see this article:
http://blogs.sun.com/rie/entry/tt_ld_library_path_tt
Just to eliminate this as a possible build problem, try removing LD_LIBRARY_PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH_64 from your environment when building the program. Then modify the build process to set the executable runpath (-R option) to include the Ingress or Oracle libraries that need to be searched. You don't normally want to point into /usr/lib or into the compiler installation area. -
Installation of Solaris 10 freezes at 100%
Hi, I am trying to install Solaris 10 on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 Server. However the installation will always freeze at 100% (I have repeated it a few times on RAID0 as well RAID1 configuration). It does not reboot and I am unable to do anything except to physically power down the system. When I power on the system again, it does not boot up because no OS is detected.
Does anyone know how I can resolve this? I had no problem doing the installation on my other servers. This server was running fine on Solaris 10 until one of the two harddisks crashed and had to be replaced. The problem occurs after I had changed the harddisk. Is there any particular disk configuration that I need to do before installing Solaris 10?The Solaris IDE/ATAPI kernel module has problems accessing
your ATAPI CD/DVD device.
Solaris 10 x86 currently has DMA disabled for ATAPI CD/DVD
devices. Maybe it works better if you enable DMA on the CD/DVD?
Try to change the "atapi-cd-dma-enabled" property to "1", on the
last DCA "select boot device" screen, in the edit properties submenu.
You probably have to press the "ESC" key to interrupt the cdrom
autoboot, to enter the DCA. -
Installation error Solaris 10-u6-ga1
I must be missing something really obvious on the installation of Solaris 10 U6. I've come up against the error message upon manually partitioning, and using UFS. After the install the error is:
Solaris 10 10 software installation partially failed
Solaris 10 packages partially installed
SUNWlur
Then at reboot it loops and loops
If I install using ZFS no problem. Unfortunately I have to use UFS for this install.
I pulled down the sol-10-u6-x86-ga1 dvd and installed on an Vmware to see what I'd get. If I manually setup the drive, it fails to with the same error.
Here is my drive layout both sparc server and vmware(x86)
/ = 10 Gb
swap = 10 Gb
/etc = 10 Gb
/usr = 10 Gb
/var = 10 Gb
/export=remaining drive space.
I'm I missing something obvious?
thanks
billThere should be more information in the install log about why the one package failed. If you search for the package name in the log you should be able find it. Then that might help determine whether the package can be installed on its own, possibly fixing your reboot issue.

Oracle DB 11g Release 2 Installation in Solaris OS for SAP - issue: Files not found
Hello All,
Having problem during my installation of oracle DB.
the installer keeps on prompting that files not found and the directories and files permission seems different from expected
I attached the images of the files the installer is looking for and also the /oracle/<SID>/11ginstall_11202.log
I also attached the thing i put in ENV command
Not sure if its the issue in the oracle profile or installer itself or wrong input
please helpHi Frogoso,
Please have a check on the known issues SAP note for Oracle installation.
Section G: is related to Solaris
1431796 - Oracle 11.2.0: Troubleshooting the Software Installation
You may re-check whether all the Solaris related pre-requisites are met before executin RUNINSTALLER.
Suggestion here would be to go with latest available Oracle patch 11.2.0.4 as you are installing a new system.
Hope this helps.

X ignores keyboard input during the installation of Solaris 10
Hi!
I have a problem when I'm trying to install Solaris 10 on my Ultra 5. After hardware detection phase passed, X starts up, displays a terminal window and asks to choose the locale. But when I'm trying to type something - nothing happens. What is the problem?
PS.: I have no Sun mouse, so I'm booting w/o mouse. I've also tried to connect USB mouse to the USB PCI Hub that i've plug into the PCI slot. It is D-Link DU-520 based on the NEC chip, and before I got no problems with it.
ThanxHi. I'm having the same problem with the installation on my laptop and it doesn't have to do anything with the focus of the window. I've read in other posts that it might be a problem with usb keyboards. Have you allready found a way to work this arround?

Problem in SNMP4J Installation
Hello everyone,
I'm working on developing an SNMPv3 based NMS software for a Licensed Band cellular Radio Backhaul, using SNMP4J. My major concern in this project is to do both, manager as well as the agent part.
Being a beginner, I'm facing problem with the installation of the software itself.
I downloaded snmp4j-agentx-1.3.1a , currently working on Windows XP platform and trying to execute them over the simple command prompt of Windows (Will be working over Eclipse IDE later).
Since there was no online help available regarding the installation steps of this software, i tried n number of open forums which gave me the idea that certain .jar files were to be executed. However, no matter what i tried, all I got were Class Manifest errors. or, NoClassDef errors. This led to more confusion, resulting in multiple copies of the extracted snmp4j-agentx-1.3.1a folder at various locations. Also, is there a particular sequence in which these files are to be compiled/executed.
I also made a simple test code that should make a PDU and send it successfully. Since i can't execute and check it, i 'm a bit doubtful about it too.
// checking for a simple request pdu and sending it.

}Hi,
Client copy is important when your adding Java Addin. The java stack will be on this client only.
Can I perform client copy after J2EE installation?
Yes you can.. create client just say 555 give this client in while adding java addin. It will create another instance. It might not be a problem. If possible, try to delete the java instance refer to the installation gude.
If not, do I need to uninstall and start the installation from the scratch?
In my view not required from scratch
Also Please let me know the procedure for client copy?
Go to Tcode scc4 to create client give the required details if possible all.
Remember the client you created in the above transaction.
Try to login system using the created client number and userid is SAP*
and passwrd is "PASS".
Go to tcode sccl there you have copy the data from which client. Try to give the profile which is mentioned in the installation guide..

Probe with two versions: one with and one without GUI, and always restarts during startup stage or just finish loading the operating system. If eligo Windows in GRUB, the pc works normally.
