Problem changing gradient color in Numbers

Has anyone else had a problem with being able to change the gradient colors for several rows and then not being able to change the gradient color? I set the gradient to go from snow to sky and then I decided to change some rows so the gradient went from snow to lavendar but the color won't change from sky. I can change snow to different colors; but I can't change the sky to any other color.
If I open a new Numbers file, then I CAN change the gradient colors. I tried saving, closing, and re-opening my file but that doesn't seem to fix it. If I copy the cells and paste them into a new, empty file, I can change the gradient colors.
Any ideas? I have a workaround so it isn't critical but I've got a lot of color coding to do and don't want to keep pasting my table into new files when this happens again.

A very good question! From what I can tell, it indicates that the displayed color is taken from the 'device' color profile, or at least relates to that profile in some way. There doesn't seem to be any way to choose directly from the list of available profiles from the spectrum image palette shown in your example, but if you switch to the color sliders mode, you will see a small square icon next to the slider type popup, which is itself a popup list of profiles.
One of those profiles will be a device profile (for instance "Device CMYK" if the CMYK sliders are displayed), & it seems that any color chosen when that (& only that?) profile is selected will display the grey triangle.
From what I can tell, the profile chosen from this popup sometimes remains in effect, & sometimes not, when switching among the color choosing modes. For the spectrum mode, it appears that most of the spectrum is in the device profile's space ... or something like that.
I really don't understand any of this very well!

For the sake of clarity and to save people time, Todd is asking about the behaviour of the Patch tool when using it to repair the area next to the young lad's head. Todd gets a blurred dark tone pretty much regardless of the options he uses.
IMO that's what I would expect to happen because of the close proximity of the other image elements i.e. the lad's neck and the strong lines of his shirt. I would not choose to use the Patch tool in this situation. Content Aware Fill makes a better stab at it.

Change Gradient Color

As you would expect I have a gradient with several colors. Is there a way to change the colors? I now I can change the colors in Illustrator CS5. The colors are now shades of green. I want blue. I want to restrict the colors between a dark and light blue. I know logically a computer can do this but not sure about Illustrator.

I watched the Video. It was not very information when you consider the Help offered by Adobe on the Gradient Tool. But the issue is not the Gradient tool necessarily.
I'm trying to replace the actual colors on a button that is a gradient. Maybe I should have said "Replace or Substitute” colors. Not create a gradient.

Can't Change Gradient Colors

when i go to make a gradient, i can only choose the preset
colors...when i try to click on the little color ball on the box
that pops up where you can adjust the gradient, nothing
happens...anyone have a solution?

The little multi-colored ball that, when you get it picking
colors in the Mixer palette brings up the system color picker? When
you first start to edit a gradient, that symbol is just there to
indicate that the two little "paint chips" below the display
gradient are what you click on to choose the colors. The two paint
chips above the gradient choose the opacity.
You can click and drag these paint chips to move them, but if
you just click, you get the color picker.
I'm not sure I made sense, there....

Pages, change the color

I have no idea why but I am having problem changing the color of some objects in Pages. I have a rectangle and I click on it and it highlights it but when I try to change the color, the color circle changes but not the rectangle. I don't get it, I have changed things before. Any ideas? They are the menu cards for my wedding in a few days and I am freaking out

Sorry you're having problems with this. After I read your email, I inserted a rectangle into a blank document, clicked on the Graphic inspector, selected Color Fill from the menu, then clicked on the color swatch. When I clicked on the color wheel, my object changed color. I then tried it a different way, using the crayon icon. I clicked on a crayon, and again my object changed color.
Try using the crayons. Click on one of them, and if the object doesn't change color, click in the color swatch, then drag the color to the object. See if that works.

Have a "sphere" with gradients, how do I change the colors?

I have an Illustrator file of a sphere though its not technically a sphere. Its a circle but when clicked, the frame edges that show on it seems to show is as being one, really dont know how to describe this. Its best to look at the attached screen shot. There are gradients also involved. Normally I would just change out the swatches but no swatches were saved for it. I have a better than average understanding of Illustrator and vector files but this one is throwing me for a loop. How would I go about changing the colors of the gradients in this?

under Appearance, I have "Mesh Points" and "Mixed Appearances". Nothing seems to be grouped so i cant seem to separate what those mixed appearances are.

Try running in Safe mode. This leaves out some video drivers. Which results in machine not using advanced video hardware.

Everything works fine, UNTIL I open another JFrame that is part of the same program. After doing this, the original scroll bar above is still green, EXCEPT the border of it has changed to Metal Theme puple from green. In addition, if that second JFrame has any JScrollBars of it's own, they are Metal Theme purple with a green border! It seems to be a bug since only one part of the JScrollBar changes. If anyone has any suggestions on this I thank you in advance.

Problems Changing Colors

I have an image that is in grayscale colors but the image itself is in RGB. I'm attempting the change the color but regardless what color I select for "Replace Color" the image will turn a shade of gray, not the color chosen. I've checked all the help and forums I can find with no success.

As MTSTUNER said, Replace Color doesn't affect pure black and white, but you can have the same controls by using Hue/Saturation from the Image > Adjustments (Ctrl +U) or as Adjustment layer and it will work. Make sure to click the Colorize box. I got nice results playing with your logo image example by setting the Lightness above 20, high Saturation, and moving the Hue slider.
Yet another completly different way to colorize with numerical precision which can also make your image a transparent layer.
Select all (Ctrl+A) and Copy (Ctrl + C).
Go to the Channels panel, click the second button at the bottom to create a new Alpha channel, click on the Alpha channel to select it, paste (Ctrl + V), and press (Ctrl + I ) to invert.
Hold Ctrl and click on the icon of the Alpha channel to load the selection, and press Ctrl + 2 to get back to the RGB layers editing.
Go to the Layers panel (F7), click on the button next to the trash button at the bottom to create a new layer, and press (Alt + Delete ) to fill with the foreground color.
Create a new white layer under it or fill the background layer with white to see the final effect. You can also fill (Alt + Delete) with another foreground color at any time after locking the layer's transparency by checking the first button next to Lock at the top of the layers panel.

Change to Color problems

Here's my issue:
I have a guy wearing a bright green shirt in a scene. I can change the color of the shirt to a variety of colors except black. White doesn't work either. I've tried a bunch of different things and looked all over for an answer, but I'm coming up short. Anyone have a suggestion? Thank you!
I'm using CS 5.5 on a Mac, btw.

I would think the best solution would be to mask out the shirt, then use tint, Black and White, or one fo the Hue/Saturation/curves etc type effect. If I am not mistaken (and I very well might be) I dont think that Black and White are seen as "Colours" as such - that is probably why it is not a choice.

Cannot change multiple colors for the life of me

Hi there-
I am VERY new to photoshop and have been trying to change just two colors in this stupid picture now for about five days. I realize this is rudimentary probably for most users.
I have searched extensively online and experimented using the color replacement tool and the "replace color" adjustment under image. I will attempt to attach the before image and the after image I have been able to come up with.
Essentially, I just want to replace the red and green with orange and black. The orange I have is a very specific pantone (I have both RGB and CMYK numbers that I'd like to use). If possible, I'd like to keep the shading....I think this is the biggest problem. Colors are not uniform.
Anyways, if this is going to take me a long time that is fine, I just don't know how to do it and have all the edges and shading look correct. I cannot find a tutorial anywhere online that even shows how to clean up an image after you have changed its color so it looks professional. I am going nuts. This is for a job application and if you know how to do this and can help me - please! Help!

The orange I have is a very specific pantone (I have both RGB and CMYK numbers that I'd like to use).
Doesn't mean anything in relation to spot colors. That's the part you seriously must understand - either you want to print it prodfessionally and a spot color is mandatory or it isn't. Process color CMYK is also used in professional print, but requires to work with color management. RGB is just for on-screen, web or printing on your home printer. Each of the methods will require a different way of shifting/ remapping the colors. For RGB and process CMYK, a gradient map adjustment layer might work, including of course converting to CMYK for the latter and dealing with color management. If it's just for home printing on unmanged printers like your personal inkjet, anything from hue shifting to selectiove color corrections will do. For spot colors you can forget these "dumb" methods and will have to learn how to create selections, manage channels and work with Dutone/ tritone/ multichannel modes.

Gradient Color Picker

Dear Community,
i have a Problem with Illustrator CS6. I've attached an image below.
I have an object with gradient fill and i've selected the first color stop.
In previous Versions of AI i could the pick any color with color Picker while holding the shift-key.
In CS6 this changes the color only in the Gradient Panel but not the Object itself:
I have to admit that i'm glad not to be a creative cloud user so i'm able to switch between Ai cs 5.1 and 6
because both have some features missing in the other version.

This still works for me in CS6 mac, but more importantly try not to use Shift eyedropper. The topic has been discussed here many times. Shift eyedropper is not accurate and samples the screen values, not the actual color.
Try using global swatches more often. Try this instead
select a gradient stop
Alt click on a swatch
If the swatch is set to global, you can easily change/adjust/merge colors later with one command on a global document level.
Thanks for the advice. I never had problems with shift-click picker i sample colors from other objects and even if they have Spot colors assigned it works, at least in CS5. I've tried in CS6 it's just not working. I've been told that there has been many discussions and i've read some. I'll stick to CS5. I'm very disapointed with adobe. This is a known bug it has been reworked on Mac Versions but not on PC.

How do I change the color black

I will preface this by saying I am new to Photoshop.
The Problem? I have a family logo on a solid black background. This is not a photograph. I want to change the solid black background to a custom green color. This sounds simple enough, but I cannot get Photoshop to change the black to green for me. Here is what i have tried so far.
1. My file is a 16-bit RGB TIF file. I have saved the file as a RAW file and a PSD file and neither of these work. So I assume the problem is not the TIF format.
2. I have tried this.
     Image -> Adjustments -> change color.
     I can use the eyedropper to select the black (in the background) and the preview shows the black selected.
     However, when I move the HUE slider below, the color stays black. It does not change color.
     If I type in the Hue Saturation and Lightness numbers for my color, the background will change, but it changes to gray, not my color.
3. I have tried this
    I set my background to the color I want. (A custom color I created, of R:34 G: 139 B:34)
    I click on BrushTool -> Color Replacement Tool
    Settings on the horizontal tool bar are
        Mode: color    Sampling: Once     Limits: Contiguous    Tolerance: 5%
    I then click on the black background, but it stays black. It does not change to the color I specified.
    (I have also tried Discontiguous, different modes, different sampling, etc. Nothing works).
    I will note that if I set my background to blue (R:0 G:0 B:255), then the Color Replacement Tool works.
    It will change the black background to the basic blue color.
    It just will not work for the custom green color that I created.
    It also will not work for most of the other default colors in PHotoshop.
This is probably trivial for some of you, but I have spent a couple hours listening to tutorials on youtube and trying various things, and I am stuck. Would appreciate your wisdom.

I would like to thank everyone for their kind suggestiosn and insights. I will try your suggestions as learning exercises, since I am still very wet behind the ears on all this stuff and the more I can learn and know, the better.
Good news is that I was able to get my background to change from black to the green color that I wanted. I utilized a two-step process that dawned on me after I responded to Curt Y's first post. Realizing that I was able to change the black background to a blue on an earlier try (though it would not respond to my attempts to turn in to the green I wanted), I thought it might work to change the color twice - first to a color it would accept, and then from that color to the green i wanted. This process worked. I probably would not have thought of this without the comment from Curt Y, who got me thinking outside my box.
Thanks again ... and I will try your suggestions because they will teach me new things and some of them are likely simpler than what I did.
