Problem changing Long object's value

Hi,
I want to know what is the way to change the value of a Long object (if any).
I didn't find set for this, and i want to change the value after creating the object withoud changing the reference (not by longObject = new Long(5)).
Thanks,
Snayit

That's not possible. Long is immutable (as are String, and all other primitive wrapper classes). This is done because immutable objects have huge advantages in many cases (like when acting as the key to a hashmap).

  • Problem changing video object resolution

    Hi,
    I have a problem with my AS3 code. The user can type their
    desired width and height for the video in two boxes and hit a
    button that triggers the updateResolution function. Everything
    works except for when I redeclare video = new Video() in the
    updateResolution function, the variables that the user set don't
    register. If I manually say:
    video = new Video(1024,768);
    it works fine, but for some reason the vars don't have the
    same effect...
    video = new Video(setWidth, setHeight);
    Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!!!

    i have a probleme changing the value of a variable in movieclip from my scene. i explain: I have combobox on my scene containing categories, and in the scene i load an xml file containing links to php files that work with the combobox.
    Also on the scene i have a movieclip "filmstrip", inside this movieclip on the first frame i have a script loading the php file selected in the scene . i use a load() function with a variable "theUrl" inside like this : T.load(theUrl);.
    In my scene i want to change the value of "theUrl" inside the movieClip filmstrip. I tried filmstrip.theUrl = url; But it doesnt work
    the xml file
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <slideshow>
    <area title1="10 Last updated" link1="link1.php"/>

  • How to change 'Modified By' column value when a new file is uploaded in SharePoint 2013 using Client Object Model?

    I want to change 'Modified By' column value of a file that is being uploaded using Client Object Model in SharePoint 2013. The problem is that the version of the file is changing. Kindly help me. The code that I am using is:
    using (System.IO.Stream fileStream = System.IO.File.OpenRead(m_strFilePath))
        Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.File.SaveBinaryDirect(m_clientContext, str_URLOfFile, fileStream, true);
        Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.File fileUploaded = m_List.RootFolder.Files.GetByUrl(str_URLOfFile);
        m_clientContext.Load(fileUploaded);
        m_clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
        User user1 = m_Web.EnsureUser("User1");
        User user2 = m_Web.EnsureUser("User2");
        ListItem item = fileUploaded.ListItemAllFields;
        fileUploaded.CheckOut();
        item["UserDefinedColumn"] = "UserDefinedValue1";
        item["Title"] = "UserDefinedValue2";
        item["Editor"] = user1;
        item["Author"] = user2;
        item.Update();
        fileUploaded.CheckIn(string.Empty, CheckinType.OverwriteCheckIn);
        m_clientContext.ExecuteQuery();

    Hi talib2608,
    Chris is correct for this issue, when calling update using ListItem.update method, it will increase item versions, using SystemUpdate and UpdateOverwriteVersion will update the list item overwrite version.
    these two methods are not available in CSOM/REST, only server object model is available for this.

  • Problem while generating Update progam for a Change Document Object

    Hi,
    I'm trying to deal with Change Document concept in a R/3 4.6C environment and to establish new Change Document object for my (Z)-table. I haven't using any namespace and created object with name ZTEST. Following the online documentation I came to the point, where I have to generate include program. I made all the nessesary inputs (using Z prefix) but faced
    "Function module name is reserved for SAP"
    Creating everything similarily using some of our registered namespaces (/somenamespace/) I succeed to generate the Update program and to integrate it in my Z-programs as well.
    My question is: is it possible to use Change Document Object-names without predefined namespace - being a regular customer developer, but not an SAP developer - means, if I am allowed to manage programs in the customer namespace (Z,Y, X) only. If yes, how to do this?
    Further (I decided not to open a new thread) - generated Update program uses
    CALL FUNCTION 'xxxxx' IN UPDATE TASK
    for creation of Change Numbers for generated Change Document Object. This CALL doesn't work when I implemented it in my Z-program, but when changed  (IN UPDATE TASK was commented) - everything goes well and the system creates records in CDHDR/CDPOS tables for my object class and table.
    Why is that? According to the documentation I shoud only fill appropriate variables for the Change Document Object (class, tr.code, etc.) and call generated FM, nothing is pointed out about any possible problems? Am I doing something wrong?
    Well, to be precise, I think I have to give a sample:
    1. I have a sample Z-table with few fields (their data elements are marked as Change-Document relevant).
    2. Using own z-progam I created a new record for this z-table. Also fill all the nessesary variables included in the interface of generated FM for Change Document Object (for example - FM-mane CD_CALL_my_object).
    3. I call the CDO FM.
    4. Check what is happening (directly in both tables CDHDR/CDPOS or using FM CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ).
    Further, I perfom the steps from 1 to 4 updating the created in previous loop record in my Z-table.
    In both cases if the FM 'CD_CALL_my_object' is called IN UPDATE TASK nothing happens, but in case of direct call (without addition IN UPDATE TASK) the system behaves as expected. Well, obliously I can change the generated code for our production needs, but it doesn't seems to be the correct decision - in case of next possible modification of the Change Document Object definition, respectively in need of re-generation of the code.
    Any hints are wellcome.
    Thanks in advance.

    "IN UPDATE TASK" resolved by myself. The one should explicitly call 'COMMIT WORK' from Z-program after CALL FUNCTION '...' IN UPDATE TASK in order to get changes in the CDHDR/CDPOS commited. The key in this issue for me was to check the documentation of CALL FUNCTION :-).

  • Problem in multiple item for change document objects

    hi gurus,
    I have created change document object in tcode SCDO . It had giveN function module /TMW/CHG_OBJ1_WRITE_DOCUMENT.
    CDPOS AND CDHDR tables are updated with changed data. now i am trying to display all old and new data in se38 program.
    here my problem is when ever i changed multiple  item data , my program showing first item details only . I need to show all item data when ever i changed parallel . please help me where is my problem .
    thank you

    I think this is issue with function module generated thru SCDO Please check in your function module inside that the following function modules are used
    CALL FUNCTION 'CHANGEDOCUMENT_OPEN'
    CALL FUNCTION 'CHANGEDOCUMENT_MULTIPLE_CASE'
    CALL FUNCTION 'CHANGEDOCUMENT_CLOSE'
    if not then there may be issue with SCDO

    Hi All,
    I have problem to change my object in the integration repository.
    Initially, i only have 1 XI server (dev and prod), until certain level that i have to add additional server for development. So i just install new xi in new box (fresh). and export the repository object form production and import into this new box.
    But the problem is i can't change all the object. is that any workaround to change the configuration so i can use my nex box become development and later on transport back all the changes to original production box.
    Appreciate if you can give me some advise.
    Thank you and Best Regards

    Hi,
    If you need to change anything in repository
    you need to click on the software component in IR
    and at the bottom of the screen you will find two checks
    that will allow (or not) you to change objects
    if you want to change anything in communication channel
    you just need to go to change mode
    you can change anything in ID

  • How to use change document object ?

    Friends,
    I am learning to use the Change Document object for one of my Z table. I have created a change doc object using SCDO. I have now written a test report in which i am issuing the SELECT statement for fetching old and new values from the Z table and passing them to the FM generated by SCDO.
    I am not able to see the changes in the CDHDR and CDPOS tables. I am doubtful abt the values being passed to the FM. Here are the values i am passing:
    CALL FUNCTION 'YTEST_WRITE_DOCUMENT'
      EXPORTING
        objectid                      = 'YTEST'
        tcode                         = 'se38'
        utime                         = sy-uzeit
        udate                         = sy-datum
        username                      = sy-uname
      PLANNED_CHANGE_NUMBER         = ' '
       OBJECT_CHANGE_INDICATOR        = 'U'
      PLANNED_OR_REAL_CHANGES       = ' '
      NO_CHANGE_POINTERS            = ' '
       UPD_ICDTXT_YTEST               = 'U'
        n_ztest_cle                   = wa_ztest_cle
        o_o_ztest_cle                 = o_ztest_cle
      UPD_ZTEST_CLE                 = ' '
      tables
        icdtxt_ytest                  = itab_cdtxt.
    Is the object ID the same as the Change Document Object name ??
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Well, i found a way out for the problem i was facing. I was not setting the "UPD_ZTEST_CLE " FM parameter. When i set it to 'U', the changes got reflected in the CDHDR and CDPOS tables.
    Can i reward myself as i solved this by myself ???

  • Error while changing the PO BOX value for a Business partner

    Hi Friends,
    We are getting an error when we try to change the PO Box value for a Business Partner.
    We have the dependency like when we give the value for the PO Box we also need to give the postal code value. And also we have a specific format for the Postal code. We gave both the values (a valid postal code) and try to save the details, then error message "The attribute GUID of Organization (a Contact Person is assigned to) of the Business Object contact person is not valid" is displayed. We have no clue why there is a conflict for the contact person details.
    Can any one suggest the reason for this?
    Thanks & regards,
    Swarna Seeta

    Hi Swarna,
    You are getting this message not because you have entered wrong Post code .It will come even if you try to change some other field and save it. This is because on saving a business object, the framework tries to validate all the associated objects depending on the relation.In this case the data in the mobile client is either not present or is no longer valid.
    Check if the field of the Business object which is being shown as invalid, has some data in the table. Check the combo associated to it and from where the combo is doing the validation. The table from where the combo is doing the validation does not have that data and so the value is invalid.
    Also compare the number of entries in smokna1sht table in ides and in CDB.
    Regards
    Vivek

  • Efficiency of Long objects over Integer objects? any ?

    I have a Long object which actually only stores "integer" values and we had coded it that way long before we realised it. Now I am told we need to change the LONG object to INTEGER object to improve Java efficiency. I disagree with that. Note that we are not doing any ARITHMETIC operations on the Long object at all. I understand that it would be efficient to use Integer object if theres a lot of arithmetic operations being done on it. But since we are not how is converting of Long objects to Integer going to improve my efficiency? and moreover since only integer values are stored in the Long object I dont see any memory allocation lose too....am i right in my posture?
    Thanks

    Thanks for quick reply ! are you saying Long and
    Integer occupy same amount of memory space if the Long
    object contains integer value ?No.
    You said:
    moreover since only integer values are stored in the Long
    object I dont see any memory allocation lose too....am i right in my posture?I took that to mean that you thought that since the Longs contain a smaller (int-sized) values, that they're taking up the same space as Integers, and therefore you won't save any memory by switching to Integers.
    That's not in fact the case. A Long takes up the same amount of space regardless of whether it's holding 0 or 1 or Integer.MAX_VALUE or Long.MAX_VALUE, and that space is probably slightly bigger (2 bytes bigger, I'd guess) than what Integer uses.
    So technically, you will save some space (probably) by going to Integer. However, unless you have a huge number of these objects, that space savings will be minimal, and unless you've actually seen numbers in a profiler, it's pointless to speculate.

  • Caching Long Objects

    Hi,
    I would like to know why is Long objects are not cached internally and pooled in Java. Since Long objects are immutable there shouldn't be any problem in doing this right? Let me know am I missing anything here...Currently for one of my applications Iam planning to do this caching of Long objects myself. But the code for that looked pretty ugly as I need to put the newly constructed Long object into a HashMap and get the reference to the previously cached Long object. I believe providing this implementation will reduce my application memory requriements drastically as I need to cache huge volumes of data (around 1 GB of data need to be cached). Will there be any problems in providing an implementation like this ... Are there any better alternatives ?

    Objects in general take somewhere in the region of 24-32 bytes to represent (excluding any member
    variables) therefore Long will require somewhere in the region of 32 to 40 bytes to represent. The
    hashMap you use to cache your Longs creates additional overhead (we'll ignore this for now as it can be
    amortised over the individual unique Longs that you cache.
    a long takes 8 bytes to store.
    a reference takes 4 bytes (on a 32 bit machine 8 on a 64 bit JVM)
    Therefore on 64 bit machines there is no advantage. Caching will always take more memory then using
    native longs.
    on a 32 bit VM the advantage of using cached Longs when compared to native longs occurs when you
    have an average of at least 8 references to each unique Long. (for a large number of unique Longs)
    However there are, I believe, plans to do this in 1.5. However they are not doing it to save memory. They
    are doing it to improve the performance of autoboxing. Also the cache will not be dynamic it will be of
    fixed size and created when the VM starts up. Basically values in the range -128 to 127 (or something
    similar) will be cached for byte, short, int , long.

  • Set Java Object with Java Long Object from JNI

    Hi,
    i am getting crazy with the jni...
    in Java i have the follwoing:
    public class blabla{
    Object myObject;
    i chose Object cause the return value from native is not known
    in case for a long value i handle it like this :
    //get the Long class
    jclass LongCls = env->FindClass("Ljava/lang/Long;");
    jmethodID jmid = env->GetMethodID(LongCls, "<init>","(J)V");
    //create an Long Object with the long return value
    jobject LongObj = env->NewObject(LongCls,jmid,longreturnvalue);
    //set Long Objekt - doesnt work!(jclazz is the class of the return Object of the blabla class)
    jfid = env->GetFieldID(jclazz, "myObject", "Ljava/lang/Object;");
    env->SetObjectField( returnobjectofblabla,jfid,LongObj );
    the long value is set fine in the Long Object but i cant set the Long Object with the SetObjectField method into the Object myObject.
    Java is shown that the myObject contains a Long Object but the long value of the Long Object is totally wrong and doesnt equal to the long value which has been set.But setting the value works fine- any ideas or solutions?
    Thank you!

    Myself I find such individuals extremely amusing. Although they seldom stick around long here. At least not under their original alias.
    plaz tel me how to realise your error checking?example plz
    You start by having at least a basic understanding of C/C++ and java.
    Then you read the JNI documents, all of them, for each method that you are using.
    Then you write code such that it actually reflects the documents. For example you check return types. And probably deal with the possibility that JNI methods might throw exceptions.
    as far as i know the jni methods like getfieldids and so on throw exceptions other like stObject dont do that the just return nothing
    i can see all exceptions in my Java console thats not the Problem, setting the Long Object does not throwing a exception btw->
    Myself I wouldn't expect that a JNI exception would show in the java console. Could I suppose though.
    However nothing so far would suggest that an exception is being thrown. That however doesn't alter the fact that you must still write the code such that it could happen.
    is it possible in general to set an java Long Object created in C(native) into a Object type (Object) overgiven as parameter in my JNI function with the setObject method?
    Is it possible that you could actually follow my previous request and create some code that actually runs instead of cut and pasting whatever you feel like?
    plz answer also with code and examples i did the same for you...No you didn't. You posted something which would not compile and quite possibly doesn't represent your actual code at all.

    Hi!
    I have a problem accessing an object which is in a VBox.
    I made an example so you can see my problem. I am trying to
    access pnlChat.
    If you load the swf you won't see the Alert because there is
    something wrong (and I don't know what)
    If you try to remove the <mx:VBox> tags that wrap the

    Why can't I access this object when it is in a VBox?

    From the FAQ I'm compiling:
    Q: I need to set a property or add an event listener on a
    component
    that is in a ViewStack/TabNavigator/Accordion. When the
    component is not
    the first child of the Navigator Container, I get a null
    object error
    (#1009). What causes this, and how can I fix it?
    A: By default, the Navigator containers only create the
    children of
    each pane as that pane is viewed. The easy way to fix this is
    to set the
    creationPolicy on the Navigator to "all." However, this will
    cause your
    application to take longer to load. A better way to fix this
    is to wait for
    a later event, such as creationComplete on the component you
    want to access,
    or to use binding to "pull" the data into the component.
    The way I handle it is to call invalidateProperties() on
    change of the
    ViewStack. I then override commitProperties() and call an
    "initializer" for
    each pane. In the body of each initializer function, I check
    to see if the
    selectedItem for the viewStack is the one my initalizer cares
    about. If
    not, I return from the function immediately. Inside that
    initializer
    function, I set properties and add listeners as appropriate.

  • Return Objects by Value/Reference?

    Could someone please tell me which of this methods would be faster:
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.List;
    public class Test {
        public static final int MAX_ITER = 2000000;
        public static void main(String[] args) {
             long begin, end = 0;
             //Return Object by Value
             begin = System.currentTimeMillis();
             List list1 = returnByValue();
             end = System.currentTimeMillis();
             System.out.println(end - begin);
             //Return Object by reference
             begin = System.currentTimeMillis();
             List list2 = new ArrayList();
             returnByRef(list2);
             end = System.currentTimeMillis();
             System.out.println(end - begin);
        public static List returnByValue() {
             List list = new ArrayList();
             for(int i=0; i<MAX_ITER; i++)
                  list.add(new Integer(i));
             return list;
        public static void returnByRef(List list) {
             for(int i=0; i<MAX_ITER; i++)
                  list.add(new Integer(i));
    }From what I understand, returnByValue would be slower as it involves creating a local List, and then returning it by way of copying itself? But surprisingly, both methods take almost identical times to run. Also, please run each method individually one at a time per run, otherwise for some reason, the second method always takes longer if ran simultaneously. Thanks.

    Okay, I thought about that, too, because I thought
    that your post did sound a bit sarcastic. Your post was most useful. I think s/he's refering to me.
    I don't care about my post count. Maybe next time
    I'll help people who are more appreciative of my
    information, instead of helping you.Actually, I think s/he's most appreciative of your excellent contribution. I believe I'm the problem.
    I think that telling people to believe the evidence in front of them is a good service to provide. You ran a test that told you the two were virtually identical. I gave you another viewpoint that said side effect free functions should be preferred, especially in situations like this one. No post count boosting there. That's good information. You just need to be sharp enough to realize it.

  • Problems with convertNumber and Double values

    I've serious troubles using convertNumber with Double data in input fields.
    While output formatting works fine, the outputted string fails to be converted back - I get conversion errors.
    So the value that is written to the input field generates a conversion error being submitted! This is not good practice!
    I've found out the following: (I use german locale, so following examples containing ',' means decimal point)
    <f:convertNumber pattern="##0.00" />generates the right output, eg. for Double(20.50) - "20,50", but this value ("20,50") will not be parsed using the above pattern! Only values with non zero last minimum fractional digit (eg "20,51", "20,59", ... ) will be parsed!
    In addition, the above pattern doesn't parse numberstrings that don't contain all significant digits.
    For example an input of "20" will not be parsed to "20.00"!
    Maybe this is not the right forum for that problem, since i think this is a general java formatting problem (?).
    But as the problem arised by using the convertNumber tag and acting like this on numeric input fields is not very comfortable, I liked to post this here. Maybe someone can give me some advice?

    I also have found this problem, except that in my experience it is the decimal part that must be non-zero, not just the last digit of the decimal part. So with a pattern of "0.00" the string "1.50" (one and a half) will be accepted whereas the string "1.00" will not.
    My guess (just a guess) is that it is related to the documented behaviour of the DecimalFormat object when it parses a number. According to the documentation:
    The most economical subclass that can represent the number given by the string is chosen. Most integer values are returned as Long objects, no matter how they are written: "17" and "17.000" both parse to Long(17). Values that cannot fit into a Long are returned as Doubles. This includes values with a fractional part, infinite values, NaN, and the value -0.0. DecimalFormat does not decide whether to return a Double or a Long based on the presence of a decimal separator in the source string. Doing so would prevent integers that overflow the mantissa of a double, such as "10,000,000,000,000,000.00", from being parsed accurately. Currently, the only classes that parse returns are Long and Double, but callers should not rely on this. Callers may use the Number methods doubleValue, longValue, etc., to obtain the type they want.
    Which means that "1.50" will be returned as a Double while "1.00" will be returned as a Long. Perhaps there is then a class-cast exception whie trying to use this value?
    If this is indeed the problem, the solution is to use the getDouble() method of the parsed Number to create the Double to be returned, but this is for the implementer to do - not the user!
