Problem Changing Song Info On IPod

For some songs, I do not like the title/album/artist listed on the Ipod. I have tried changing the info by using the "Get Info" function in Itunes, and multiple times I have deleted these songs and put them back onto the IPod. However for some songs even though the information in the "Get Info" section is how I want it to be on the Ipod, it still loads onto the Ipod with the wrong information. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there another place to change the song info? (I have also changed the song info in the "Properties" section of the file on the harddrive but this doesn't fix the problem either.) Any thoughts?

You can click on the info you want to change and then click again. DON'T double click, though. Then just type in the info. A problem I ran into was if you have different names in the album info you will find it harder to browse. For example, I typed "Word" on one selection and "The Word" on another. They ended up on different locations when browsing.

  • Change song info on my I Pad Mini

How can I change song info on my Mini I Pad ...
Has Apple fixed this problem ... ?
All I seem to be able to do is Delete a tune ...

Are you plugging in every night, locking the iPad and connected to WiFi? Are you meeting all three requirements?
Well that is what I do and it works for me because I can see the next day that the new backup shows in Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>Backup Now. If you look at my screenshot - you will see that I experimented to make sure that it would work. I responded on July 3 at 12:24 PM when you posted. Then I locked the iPad, plugged it in and waited for about 30 minutes before I unlocked the iPad to see if it backed up. The screenshot shows the backup was completed at 12:44 PM on July 3.
I also backup with iTunes and I almost never auto backup. I just initate the back up on my own. But the instructions that I posted are right from the settings. You can read it for yourself in the screenshot.
You do have to wait for at least 24 hours before the next backup will take place, but if you are getting a message that you haven't backed up a week later, I can't explain that.
Dont trust that message. Look and see what the date of the last backup was. That's the only way to know for sure.

  • Cant change song info on new ios update

ok ever since i updated to iOS5 i cant change the song info on my ipod touch when i change the info on itunes?!?! it syncs but song info dosnt change ie. the song name, album.

check out does iTunes detect song codec and ID3-tag is v.2.3 or 2.4. If iTunes shows that it's unknow, you can't change tag ..... it's a bug which appeared in 10.5.x
I have the same problem when dropping songs into device, but there is a solution, convert songs in mp3 or other format, use, for example, Xilisoft Audio Converter Pro. So, I've lost over 1 Tb music I have underlined a string where you can see name of codec.

  • Changing Song info on External HDD through iTunes

I new to iTunes 11 , I explore many things in it but I have some problem with organizing songs . I have some question , so please help me throughout this .
    1) So first of all i Don't know from where i get these two files in every of my music folder (Folder.jpg & AlbumArt.jpg)
I want to remove these files, I simply want to know that this will change any music info like the album art for the album name .
    2) I am having very limited space on  my MacBook air 128 GB and have 8 Tb external HDD . So I generally import only 20 GB of songs in my iTunes library and other my songs remain on my external HDD . So that I can transfer music to my iPod . Simply when I change wrong info about my songs in iTunes does that remain when I copy iTunes music to any other place . Or how can I change music info which I have an external HDD permanently so that I don't have to change when I every time when i add them to my other system iTunes . Simply I want to change info in itunes as well as on its original mp3.
Please Help me thorughout this .

Well, you cannot change the fact that iTunes needs to access the actual song file in order to play it. How else could it play it?
So, you will always have to have your exHD plugged in BEFORE you open iTunes.
If you can't edit song info when the exHD is plugged in and iTunes can find the file, then your operating system permissions are not set correctly.

  • Changing song info?

Is it possible to change the song info in Itunes? For some reason the groups are not all correct so I have rock, ROCK, and Rock. I would like to be able to change these so they are all the same and my Ipod will group them all together.

You can actually access the "Get Info" screen by Right-clicking, and selecting Get Info. Plus, selecting work like anything else.
If you select one item, then an item further down the list while holding SHIFT, all items inbetween and including those two will be selected. Then right click somewhere in that selection and select Get Info. Any info you edit will apply to all of those items. Any fields that are blank, mean they are different across items.
If you want select multiple items, but bit by bit, you can hold CONTROL, and select multiple items that way too. Then right click any selected item and go to Get Info like before.

  • Changing song info in Itunes and the actual file names

How can I change the song info in iTunes and make it change the actual file names?
It gets a bit tiring after every single time iTunes updates I have to re-organize my 3000+ songs. I tried to do a quick search for an answer in the forums but I wasn't exactly sure what I should search for so sorry if this is a duplicate post.
Is this possible? (does this make sense?)
    Thanks!

I have the option checked and I made several changes to the ablums name and song names for several songs in my library. iTunes changed the files to the new folder names and renamed the files.
The only problem is that I have empty folders of the old album names.

  • Problem Editing Song Info

There are some random numbers in the lyrics section of an entire album i have in iTunes. I can erase the numbers and click next to do the same for the other songs, but when i return to the song info, the same numbers are back! I can replace the numbers with the lyrics for the song, but the numbers still show up on my iPod instead of the lyrics. How can I get rid of the numbers so that I can put the lyrics in that section and have the lyrics show up on my iPod instead of the numbers?

gonaners16, i guess this coud be something completely different. I have similar weired problems with my latest iTunes since a while also influencing the lyrics i have and see in iTunes in relation to what i have on the iPod.
1 modifications on iTunes lyrics do not appear on my iPod
2 if i remove the lyrics inside iTunes, old, often unformatted text shows up (this could be the text of Your old numbers). So it seems that i'm not able to remove this old text in iTunes at all.
The oly thng i could do is to reedit (or copy new text over the old). Seems to work fine in iTunes itself. But, it only seems. Synchronized to the iPod this does totally no effect to the lyrics on the iPod screen.
3 it has nothing to do with read/write permissions so far. But
4 it has to do whether You are using "MP3" fileformat or the original AAC-coded Apple format "M4A".
For whatever reasons (I do not know so far) iTunes modifies (i would rather call it "infect") MP3 files containing lyrics).
5 Approach for a solution: Editing of infected files ? No way. ==> Convert them to "M4A" using the onboard-iTunes coverter to AAC-version. And You are out of problems.

  • Can't change songs on new ipod in iTunes

I just went from a first gen iPod to a 5th gen, and I notice that I used to be able to edit the pod's playlist in itunes. Now, when I try to go directly to the new ipod's playlist, everything's greyed out. It's there, but greyed out. What's this all about? I want to have special playlists on my iPod. Thanks!

"when I try to go directly to the new ipod's playlist, everything's greyed out. It's there, but greyed out"
Grey text when you look at the content and a lock symbol at the bottom of the screen just indicates that the iPod is set to update automatically (sync). If you want to access the iPod directly, delete songs from the iPod, drag songs from iTunes etc. you need to change the update setting to "manually manage songs and videos. If you want to manage it manually then connect your iPod and click on the iPod icon in the iTunes source list to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. In the Summary tab check the box "manually manage music and videos" and click Apply:
    Managing content manually on iPod
    iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
Something to remember about using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on the desktop and check this link for alternative methods:: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Different ways of backing up songs/info on ipod

i want to know all of the ways of backing up my songs on my ipod, so if i had to reformate and or reset it, ect.
im thinking about buying a external hard drive, should i get one with a firewall port as with a usb?
    thanks for all the help.

Well…. You can Use iTunes for Backing up your Music.
It works fine for music files BUT: I prefer more control over my backup process, and it is also important to note that a large limitation of using iTunes to manage the backup is that the iTunes method does not maintain the two meta-data files (iTunes Library.itl & iTunes Music Library.xml) where your Playlists, Ratings, Playcounts, etc. are stored. See: What are the iTunes Library files?
If you are heavily invested in your Library data (playlists, playcounts, ratings, last played, date added, etc.), then it is critical that you also make multiple backups of your ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file.
If your music is located under one common Folder (e.g.-‘iTunes’), then it is easiest to physically copy that folder and all its sub-folders in one simple process. It can be done quickly, and incrementally – several times a day, when necessary.
In the case of any data loss, just re-copy your entire (or partial) music library back to wherever it was, placing it in the main Folder that the previous iTunes expected. Along with the .ITL meta-data file, this completes a full ‘restore’ of your music to the time of your last backup.
Use of a backup software program will greatly help. It will allow you to easily perform incremental backups of only the files that have changed. WinXP has such a facility built-in. I use a free program (FileSync: http://www.fileware.com ). There are many out there. Some use Zipped files or proprietary formats, others use standard file formats. I like FileSync as it uses normal file formats that can be viewed/managed via any Windows program or utility.
Here's a list of possible ways to copy your music files from your main iTunes computer to another storage medium for backup purposes.
    1) Use an External Hard Drive to store the complete iTunes meta-data files and underlying Music Folder structure and songs from your main computer. They are quite cheap now, for their storage volume. This is my preferred main medium.
2a) If you have two computers, connect them through a router -- or – use a Direct (w/Mac) or Crossover (PC/PC) Ethernet cable (See: http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3001.html). Copy files from one computer to the other.
2b) Or - Connect the two computers via a USB-to-USB Network Bridge. See: http://www.usbgear.com/link/index.html as an example.
Use the second PC as your backup repository.
    3) Burn several DVDs (at 4.7+ GBs each) with the music data files and store them safely. Re-writable ones are good for backup purposes (if your DVD drive can manage these).
    4) Burn 6x more on CDs (at 700MB each) than in #3 above and store them safely in more space Re-writable ones are good for backup purposes (if your CD drive can manage these).
    5) Use a larger USB Flash drive (1GB - 4GB) to store the files only if you have a small amount ripped music or have multiple and/or jumbo USB drives at your disposal that will fit your music library.
    6) Use the second internal hard drive (if available) of your PC -- not optimum, as you really want to physically separate the storage of backups from the originals, but good as a tertiary storage device.
By keeping only one copy of your music (other than on the iPod), you are not truly 'backed-up' and are running a high risk of losing your music.
It is a good policy to backup all your important data. It is a very smart policy to back it up on more than one medium.
External hard drives now run less than $100 for 200-250GBs of storage. Very cheap backup insurance.

  • Problems with Song Info in iTunes

I have a lot of music in my iTunes library that I've collected from friends or imported from old CD's. There are multiple instances in my library where iTunes treats songs from the same album as being from two different (but identical albums). In other words, I'll have an entire single album's worth of songs in the library, but iTunes will list the artist as having two albums in the library rather than one, and this will be reflected in cover flow, showing the same cover art twice in a row.
All the song info matches up...how can I fix this?

    Check a few things:
Make sure the SORT ALBUM is the same for all copies, also make sure that all tracks of the album have the same disc numbering. So if one set is "Disc 1 of 1" make sure the others say the same thing.
Those are the most likely culprits, but go and compare the "two albums" side by side. Select Get Info, and go back and forth making sure all of the album info and album sort info is exactly the same. That's most likely your problem.

  • Changing Song Ratings On iPod

    Hi.
Question A: I'm wondering if I change a rating on my iPod does it reflect the change in iTunes once after I sync again?
Question B: If a 4-Star rating exists for a song already and while listening to the song on my iPod I want to change the rating to 5-Stars will this also be updated in iTunes, reflecting the 5-Star rating change?

Good to hear from you as well. The syncing process is almost symmetrical, minus a few minor details such as play counts, last play time and such, that do not sync to the iPod. There are several other settings and data about songs that do not sync over as well. However, for the most part, you could say the major elements of a song and its data are symmetrical between iTunes and the iPod.
    Hope this helps.
I couldn't help setting my location to Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. It rocks. As to how I reached this status level so quick, I guess you could say I spend a good deal of time on here, reading all kinds of posts, whether they are answered or not. I have learned a great deal on here the few months I have been using it. This place rocks.

  • ITunes 12 changes song info

    Hi,
iTunes 12 is changing my song info after I've played the song. In Edit/Preferences/Store, I have un-ticked all the boxes including 'Share details about your library with Apple'. I tried disconnecting from the internet then played a song but it still changed the info which makes me think the info is stored somewhere locally on my computer.
Everything has been fine until today when it just suddenly started doing this. Hopefully someone knows how to fix this
    Thanks,
    Mark

So when playing anything I just get this a the top which doesn't seem quite right looking at the screenshots I've seen with track info and a small album thumbnail on the left?

  • Please help me!! problems putting songs in my ipod

ok, i just bought the ipod video and am having troubles with putting songs into it.
i know when u connect the ipod to ur computer, it automatically syncs all the songs u have in ur library to ur ipod.
so i took mine to one of my friends house and updated my ipod with his computer. so now i have 1016 good songs. but i can't update it with my computer now because i don't have the songs (that are in my ipod) in my computer.
so if i updated my ipod w/ mine, it'd delete the songs i got from my friends house.
so now, i have to go over to his house everytime i wanna update my ipod, and trust me it's pain in my little toush
so please tell me if there is anyway for my to tranport the songs FROM my ipod TO my computer or just update it with my computer without erasing the previous songs.
    thank you

Correct. Apple made it this way to help prevent illegal file sharing of copyrighted material.
