Problem from shell script to java class

Hello All,
I have a shell script (P.sh) which is having the following code.
. setEnv
echo first param: $1;
echo second param: $2;
runClient Abc $1 $2
If in Abc class I write the following code.
System.out.println("Arg length " + args.length);
It gives me Arg length as 1 even though on command line I write
P.sh a b
Why am I getting the error that is not getting the second argument?

it is java command written in a different fileI don't understand. Is it yet another script or a renamed java executable?

That is nonsensical. Putting it in env vars exposes
it more than passing it as args.Thanks for replying jschell.
1. I am using newer version java 1.5
2. shell scripts gets it's variables from oracle reports through webservices.
3. to run java i use java javaclassname3. I used EXPORT variablename and in java called system.getproperty(variablename)But system.getproperty is getting a null.
And the decision about not passing it as args was made by our client. They think it's not safe to pass password.
are they wrong??

Pass in date from shell script to java program

I need to pass in some parameter to my java program.
eg 'java SomeProgram yyyy mm dd hh mm ss'
How do i use the shell script to generate the valeus for the year, mth day etc?
The program is running once everyday.
I tried $argu0 = `date+%y`
java SomeProgram $argu0

That code will send both numbers on a single line in standard input to the java process. So if the process reads standard input, it will get a single line that has this in it: "10 20".
I'm guessing you're sending that whole line to Integer.parseInt. But a valid number doesn't have a space in the middle.
You should split up the line using String.split. Or use a StringTokenizer. Or a regular expression. Or you can use a java.util.Scanner. Or a java.io.StreamTokenizer. Or maybe some other stuff that has slipped my mind at the moment.

Problem while calling concsub from shell script

I am facing problem when I am trying to run CONCSUB utility from shell script.The same works well when I try it from command line.The only prob I am facing from shell script is assigning values to temporary variables.
This is how my script looks

Urgent Problem in Executing perl script from shell script

Hello,
I've a shell script on one server (source) and a perl script on another (target).
My perl script will check whether the directoryname, filename provided by shell script exists on the target server or not.
My shell script is as follows:

And my perl script uses a package CU_Functions.pm, which is in the same directory as the perl script on the target server.
But when I invoke the perl script from shell script, I get the following error:

As for the Perl INC, I cannot recall the environment variable that sets that but the following example should work:
ssh user@host "export ENV_VAR=/path/to/include/files:$ENV_VAR ; /full/path/to/script"

I am trying to invoke a shell script(unix) using java and I have tryied to load the shell using exec(cmd) and then trying to execute the shell.
But it is not working.

BTW you should check for the OS - this stuff is very os and os release dependent.
I have not experimented with this under unix.
But something must interpret that sendMessage.sh file.
Perhaps the hash bang info is used by exec() (did you put a
#!/bin/sh as first line in your .sh file?
If not, try

I have the following shell script:

Does this shell script execute a .class file or a .java file? Does the java file have to be in the same folder as the script file?

Here $error_code is out paramter. All varaibles passed in process are declared with export command.
When executing .sh it gives below error
"sh ERROR at line 3: ORA-06550: line 3, column 99: PLS-00363: expression '' cannot be used as an assignment target ORA-06550: line 3, column 3: PL/SQL: Statement ignored".
Please help to get rid from this error or please suggest how to call a oracle procedure with out paramter from unix shell script.

Hi Hassan,
a portal component can be called directly through URL.
The general syntax to call the portal component (iView, page) is as follows:
<http/https>://<server>:<port>/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/<pcd_path_of_iview_or_page>
Replace all ":" in the pcd path by "!3a". Also replace all "/" by "!2f" in the pcd path in the URL.

the query below is runing well with a SQL*PLUS (database is mounted and not open)
SQL> SELECT member FROM v$logfile;
MEMBER
+DATA/testgfi/onlinelog/group_1.298.773871647

+DATA/testgfi/onlinelog/group_3.295.773871647
But Giving error if I run it from Shell script ???
$ sqlplus -s '/ as sysdba' << EOF
SELECT member FROM v$logfile;

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01219: database not open: queries allowed on fixed tables/views only..
