Problem in consuming XML/SOAP based BizTalk webservice in Oracle Forms 10g

I have a web service that i need to consume in Oracle Forms. The web service is SOAP based service and was generated using Microsoft Biztalk Server. The service accepts a complex xml message as its request and returns a similar xml message as response.
I want to consume this service from within my Oracle Forms Application (Forms version 10.1.2.0.2).
I followed the guidelines from http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10gr2/howto/webservicefromforms/ws_10_1_3_from_forms.html and added a few java classes were generated from WSDL link for me but this is where I lost it.
From the generated code, i see that i might have to create a vector which consists of the complete hierarchy of xml schema that is expected by the service. But i need some advice in how to do so.
Has anybody worked on similar services before? Please share your experience or any helpful resources.
Thanks.

  • How to consume XML Gateway WS from a remote Oracle DB (10g)?

    Hi,
    I'm currently looking into consuming EBS web services, particularly the XML Gateway service from a remote database. For ease of use, I'm also using an Oracle 10g database.
    It seems there are several ways to skin a cat though. Hope you can help.
    1) Is it possible to use UTL_HTTP for this? If yes, can you please explain in detail as I have been trying to do this the past few days without success. Note, I was able to consume other web service examples, though. What url & SOAP action should I use?
    2) I built a proxy client stub using JDeveloper and deployed it to the DB. However my plsql procedure doesn't execute the java class. Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Charina

    Hi Charina,
    Regarding option 1), the url for the service endpoint and the value for the SOAPaction HTTP heaader are advertized in the WSDL for your service.
    The value of the utl is provided by the 'location' attribute for the soap:address element within a port.
    The value for the SOAPaction header is provided by the 'soapAction' attribute for the soap:operation element within a wsdl:binding/wsdl:operation element.
    You can have multiple ports and bindings advertized in a single WSDL. If this is the case for you, you need to make sure that the operation you are tryin to invoke is from the SOAP binding; the one with the transport attribute set to "http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http".
    Here is a WSDL snippet for illustration purposes:
      <binding name="CalculatePricePort" type="tns:CalculatePricePort">
        <soap:binding transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http"
                      style="document"></soap:binding>
        <operation name="CalculatePrice">
          <soap:operation soapAction="document/http://siebel.com/OrderManagement/Quote/PSP:CalculatePrice"></soap:operation>
          <input>
            <soap:body use="literal"></soap:body>
          </input>
          <output>
            <soap:body use="literal"></soap:body>
          </output>
        </operation>
      </binding>
      <service name="CalculatePriceWS">
        <port binding="tns:CalculatePricePort" name="CalculatePricePort">
          <soap:address location="http://130.35.90.150/eai_enu/start.swe?SWEExtSource=SecureWebService&amp;SWEExtCmd=Execute&amp;UserName=XXXX&amp;Password=XXXX"></soap:address>
        </port>
      </service>Note that I took an example where both attributes are not using common format.
    To try to get this working faster, you may want to try to use an existing JAVA (or .Net) client and compare the working payload with what is generated by the UTL_HTTP package. It's usually faster to work of a working sample that to double guess why it's not working.
    Hope it helps,

  • Problem calling WebService from Oracle Forms created by JDeveloper

    Hi All,
    I am trying to call a Webservice from Oracle Form using JAVA Class created by Oracle JDeveloper.
    The Java Function (in JDeveloper) is as follows:
    public Vector GetPIValue(String TagName, String ReadingTime) throws Exception
    URL endpointURL = new URL(endpoint);
    Envelope requestEnv = new Envelope();
    Body requestBody = new Body();
    Vector requestBodyEntries = new Vector();
    requestBodyEntries.addElement(TagName);
    requestBodyEntries.addElement(ReadingTime);
    requestBody.setBodyEntries(requestBodyEntries);
    requestEnv.setBody(requestBody);
    Message msg = new Message();
    msg.send(endpointURL, "http://tempuri.org/GetPIValue", requestEnv);
    Envelope responseEnv = msg.receiveEnvelope();
    Body responseBody = responseEnv.getBody();
    return responseBody.getBodyEntries();
    When this Class is Imported into Oracle Forms the Function is converted into the following PL/SQL code:
    FUNCTION GetPIValue(
    obj ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT,
    a0 VARCHAR2,
    a1 VARCHAR2) RETURN ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT IS
    BEGIN
    Message('param passed: '||a0||' - '||a1);
    cls := JNI.GET_CLASS('oracle/forms/demos/webservice/ConnectToPIStub');
    mid := JNI.GET_METHOD(FALSE, cls, 'GetPIValue', '(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/util/Vector;');
    args := JNI.CREATE_ARG_LIST(2);
    JNI.ADD_STRING_ARG(args, a0);
    JNI.ADD_STRING_ARG(args, a1);
    Message('I am Here');
    RETURN JNI.CALL_OBJECT_METHOD(obj, mid, args);
    END;
    When I am calling this Function from Within Forms and Passing into it the Parameters, I am displaying some Debugging Messages. When the Code reaches "JNI.CALL_OBJECT_METHOD" there is NO RESPONSE from the Webservice and nothing is moving forward after this Point...
    A similar Webservice that can be Tested is:
    http://www.webservicex.com/CurrencyConvertor.asmx
    with WSDL file:
    http://www.webservicex.com/CurrencyConvertor.asmx?wsdl
    Kindly note that this Webservice is running properly from the Web Browser but the call from Oracle Forms is not Succeeding!!!! :-((
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Baz

    Hi,
    Yes, you need to compile your source files with JDK 1.3 (since JInit 1.3.x.x uses JDK 1.3).
    Other solution would be to use JRE 1.5 (instead of JInitiator).
    Check out [this thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=550563] on how to use JRE1.5

  • Slow Problems with Oracle Forms 10g and Oracle Database 11g

    Hi, I wonder if there is a compatibility problem between Version 10.1.2.0.2 32 Oracle Forms and Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production. This is because my application runs correctly on a version of Oracle Database 10g, and when we migrated the database to an Oracle Database 11g, slowness problems came out.
    Thanks.

    We have the same issue happening with our custom forms and with some of the standard forms in EBSO. So far we have found that the form invoking a view causes ridiculous slowness in opening the form (40 mins). Using a table access has shortened the open time significantly. At this time Oracle DBAs at OOD have no clear idea why it is happening.
    we are on 11.1 database with 11.5 EBSO

  • Efficient reverse proxy for Schema based BizTalk webservices

    I've got a few webservices hosted on BizTalk I'm wanting to expose with a reverse proxy.
    Checking through this article it seems there is some disconnect.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc748658.aspx
    The article outlines how to do this with a webservice generated from an orchestration. But I created my webservices from schemas. The structure of my asmx.cs doesn't appear to be the same. See Figure 8 in the article.
    When I try to do
    AZDHS_AIE_Internal.AIE objWebServiceMethodCall new AZDHS_AIE_Internal.AIE();
    objWebServiceMethodCall.Url = "real URL goes here";
    There is no Url member inside the instance of AIE that is created. It is the proper class which contains the web methods, so I was surprised to not see it there.
    Anyone else tried to get this scenario working before? I'm not finding much resources for schema based webservices, only orchestration based ones.

    Alright, got it working.
    Here the short story of how to get this working. Make a copy of the generated webservice solution from BizTalk. In it you'll see there is a
    DataTypes.cs class.
    Next, you'll generate a proxy class of the target webservice using the visual studio command line wsdl tool (wsdl http://url/svc.asmx?wsdl). Make sure this class is named differently than the actual webservice is since that is the same
    name you've got in the BizTalk generated webservice solution.
    In the new proxy class replace the return and parameter types in the web methods to be the corresponding types in the
    DataTypes.cs class.
    In the BizTalk webservice code go to your web method where it currently puts the received message into the messagebox database. There you will create a new instance of the new proxy class and call the corresponding web method, which now has the same type
    definition in both the proxy class and the BizTalk generated class.
    And that's all. Build and deploy to a server anywhere with access to the actual BizTalk server and your calls will bounce off the webserver and go to BizTalk.

  • How to run an XML Report from Oracle Forms 10G

    Hello Friends,
    I am in need of showing a xml report output through a button press trigger in Oracle Forms10G.
    I have designed the report in XML Publisher and the report looks fine.I found few scripts useful in running the Oracle Report from Oracle forms10G like Run_Report_Object.But I am not aware of any script that could run a XML report and show the output directly from a Form.
    All I want is to run a XML report from an Oracle Form with a button press trigger and show the output in an html version.
    Can this be achieved?
    If so, Kindly advise as this is an immediate work.

    If I am not wrong the XML publisher is same as BI publisher ...
    There is one document which explains how to integrate using web service

    My client is currently using an Oracle Forms 6i based application (together with a Jinitiator)

    We are considering an update to Oracle 10g database and 10g Rel 3 mobile application server.
    Can anyone advise on the impact of such an application on the Forms 6i application and if there is a recommended process for the upgrade of the forms application?

    do you mean the OAS 10g Rel. 3 ? That application server has no forms-component. Only the Rel.2

  • Building a block based on the records fetched - Forms 10g

    Is there a way in forms to dynamically build the block ( I mean in a multi record block, we usally set the number of records displayed in the property pallete) Instead of setting the property is there a way that we can do it based on the records fetched by the query?
    select a.unit_id, substr(b.product_code,1,5)
    from [email protected] a,[email protected] b
    where substr(a.product_code,1,5) = b.product_code
    and substr(a.product_code,1,5) = 'E3088'
    and inv_product_type in ('PHER','LPHER','VPHER')
    and warehouse_id = 'A'
    This is the query.
    If the query for product_code fetched 5 units for product code = 'E3088' of inv_product_type as mentioned in the query, is if possible to build the multi record block? For another product E3077 it might give us 6 records.
    User wants me to see if I can do it? Is it possible?
    Thanks in advance.
    Anu

    Hi,
    I've not tried this and can't say for sure if it is possible or not.
    But, have a look at this link Re: Automatic  Number  of record displayed .
    I'd thought of a solution but never tried myself. Try if it works for you.
    If it doesn't, i think it will not be possible in oracle forms.

  • Webutil Problem in Oracle Forms 10g

    Hi All,
    been reading various posts over time on the forums but this is the first time for me to post here.
    My name is george an i am a novice forms developer.(very novice i would say )
    i am in the process of altering an existing form, and i am trying to add webutil functionality to the form.
    i am succesfull getting webutil to run but i get some weired behaviour from the form, and in more detail i get the 40200 error.
    the error only appears after the usage of webutil in the form and this prevents the user from entering a query string in a text item (actually it is when the user tries to type in the text box that oracle throws the 40200).
    i am able to get around this problem, by moving the WEBUTIL DATA BLOCK at the end of the DATA BLOCKS tree. The form once more works as it should (queries etc) only that the webutil window and canvas are displayed on the top of my form (i.e webutil about form) and the user has to click OK to get rid of it.
    i have tried to hide the webutil window, the webutil canvas but i am unsuccesful.
    any ideas of how to keep the webutil data block at the end of the data block tree but not appearing in front of the form ??
    i hope i did not confuse you with my explanation.
    thank you,
    George

    Oracle Forms is Heirarchical. It uses the order in which items appear in the Object Navigator as the "Default" navigation order. Items like WebUtil should always appear after other objects (such as Data Blocks, Canvases and Windows). Making sure objects are listed in the right order in the Object Navigator is typically all you need to do, however, you could use the Form Module First Navigation Data Block property to override the default heirarchy (as MLBrown suggests) as well as write code in a When-New-Form-Instance trigger to Hide the WebUtil canvases and direct the form to the desired starting point (first navigation block/item).
    I personally, prefer to use the order of objects in the Object Navigator since this does not require any lines of code or the setting of properties.
    On a side note, it is always good to post your Forms version (eg: 10.1.2.0.2 versus 10g) when posting a Forms question. :)

    I called a procedure in in-insert and on-updateWhy are you writing this code in the first place? If you have a block based on an updatable view, just let Forms do the inserts and updates.
    If it's not an updatable view, use instead of triggers on the view.
