Problem in converting some images

Hi all,
I have a problem when converting a word document in pdf (using acrobat 9). If i use the standard settinings, everything works fine. If I use personalised options to mantain bookmarks and links in the final pdf, some images (png) after the conversion appear with some black stripes on top of them.
Does someone encountered the same problem?
Thank You!

Sorry for the delay in my response. I was on vacation.
I tried following code (giving the type as related). But still it didn't work out :(
I am sure i am doing some silly mistake. I guess mistake is in how i use cid:imageDo i need to use four unique cid tag if i attach four images? If yes can someone help me how? Thanks
MimeMultipart multiPart = new MimeMultipart("related");
MimeBodyPart msgBody = new MimeBodyPart();
String htmlText = content+"<H1></H1><img src=\"cid:image\">";
msgBody.setContent(htmlText, "text/html");
multiPart.addBodyPart(msgBody);
File folder = new File("./result");
File[] listOfFiles = folder.listFiles();
for (int i = 0; i < listOfFiles.length; i++)
MimeBodyPart attachmentPart = new MimeBodyPart();
FileDataSource fds = new FileDataSource(listOfFiles.getAbsolutePath());
attachmentPart.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(fds));
attachmentPart.setFileName(listOfFiles[i].getName());
attachmentPart.setHeader("Content-Type", "image/png" );
//attachmentPart.setDisposition("inline");
attachmentPart.setHeader("Content-ID","image"+i);
mp.addBodyPart(attachmentPart);
System.out.println("Attached the file " + listOfFiles[i].getAbsolutePath());
mess.setContent(multiPart);

  • Aperture 3.4.1 won't edit some images

    I upgraded my iPhoto library to v9.4 and all seems to be ok. I then installed Aperture 3.4.1. Some of my photos I can edit ok in Aperture, but many of them cannot be edited even though taken with the same camera on the same day. Where the histogram normally comes up there is the message "iPhoto externally edited image". In the past I've done most of my editing in Photoshop Elements, with only a few edited in iPhoto. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to the Aperture problem, however. Some  images that have been edited in PS can be edited in Aperture, and some that I haven't touched cannot be edited in Aperture. I'm pretty sure the same applies to iPhoto editing.
    Any ideas on how to get around this problem?
    Malcolm

    I just answered my own question with a little help from a related discussion that popped up when I posted this. The block on editing apparently applies to anything modified in iPhoto. But duplication to create a new Aperture version creates an editable image.
    Thanks.

  • Problems converting PNG image to SVG with autotrace

    Hi,
    I am trying to convert a large number of color PNG images of hieroglyphs (produced after much effort) to SVG format, using "autotrace -background-color ffffff -output-format svg".
    It seems that where there are closed paths with background color inside, autotrace produces an SVG image with the background area in black instead of transparency. (You can see the images at http://5b4az.chronos.org.uk/pkg/hieroglyph/A001.png and http://5b4az.chronos.org.uk/pkg/hieroglyph/A001.svg although the svg image is not rendered by Firefox). You may also download the tarballs with all the hieroglyphs of the Gardiner set if you are interested.
    After all the effort that went into these images, I am stuck with being unable to convert raster images to vector graphics. I did try autotrace before I put in all this effort, but I didn't notice the problem because apparently I tried it on images with no enclosed background color.....
    Any suggestions wellcome greatefully!

    I know this is an old thread, but I did some new testing on some line art and want to post my results.
    I started with a PNG, and converted it to PBM and PGM. I got much better quality doing this conversion with GIMP, as opposed to pngtopnm.
    I traced both formats with autotrace and potrace, which I output to SVG.
    Autotrace accepts PNG, so I did the trace with the original as well.
    I got the highest quality with PGM and potrace.  It also was the smallest file size.
    a close second was PBM with potrace, slightly larger.
    third was autotrace and the PBM, larger still.
    Using the PGM with autotrace was unacceptable, and the file size was HUGE!
    So if black/white is OK: Convert PNG to PGM with GIMP, then potrace
    both the best quality, and smallest size SVG.  This is assuming you started with anti-aliased black/white line-art, i guess the full greyscale PGM avoids the aliasing of PBM.
    It seems autotrace is the way to go, if your forced to deal with multiple colors.
    I suspect you will need to do many passes and really tweak those command options,
    The PNG directly to autotrace was a complete disaster, but i suspect it would improve given enough time to configure command arguments.
    However, even with those perfect options I would believe potrace yields a cleaner trace.

  • Converting GIF images to JPG - display problems in browser

    I am currently writing a program that uses the ImageIO package (javax.imageio.*) to take GIF and PNG images and convert them to JPG images. The program seems to convert them correctly, especially for the PNG images, but the converted GIF images don't open in a browser. They open just fine in Windows Picture and Fax viewer, but when I try to open them in IE or Firefox, it only diplays the little red 'x'.
    Is anyone familiar enough with Images and the ImageIO package in Java that they may have some insight on why these converted GIF files won't display in a browser.

    Bonjour,
    In my [website|http://iweb.debutersurmac.com>, all the images are JPG files,
    By default iWeb '09 converts images to JPG (yes, it's true)...
    ...unless you use masked images*
    !http://i32.servimg.com/u/f32/09/02/44/99/masked10.jpg!
    Crop your images (with Preview) before you paste them in iWeb. Don't use mask, Unmask an image if it's masked. That's the trick!
    !http://i32.servimg.com/u/f32/09/02/44/99/unmask10.jpg!
    (* images with transparency areas (ex : some PNG and GIF), rotation and shapes in iWeb make also PNG files in your website.)

    Hi Oisin,
    Sorry for the Late Reply. I am using IGS 6.40 with solaris system.
    If i am converting the image from my desktop i am getting 96DPI resolution. Where as if i am doing it from IGS i am getting 30682172 DPI resolution.
    I am using SAP 4.7. Is it the latest patch level or latest IGS supported.
    Short Dump :
    Runtime Error          COMPUTE_INT_TIMES_OVERFLOW
    Exception              CX_SY_ARITHMETIC_OVERFLOW
           Occurred on     03.03.2010 at   11:04:30
    Whole number overflow on multiplication.
    What happened?
    Error in ABAP application program.
    The current ABAP program "SAPLSTXBITMAPS" had to be terminated because one of
    the
    statements could not be executed.
    This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.
    What can you do?
    Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
    and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
    error.
    To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
    You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
    termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
    date.
    Error analysis
    An exception occurred. This exception is dealt with in more detail below
    . The exception, which is assigned to the class 'CX_SY_ARITHMETIC_OVERFLOW',
    was neither
    caught nor passed along using a RAISING clause, in the procedure
    "FILL_BMFILE_FROM_BMP" "(FORM)"
    Since the caller of the procedure could not have expected this exception
    to occur, the running program was terminated.
    The reason for the exception is:
    In the current program "SAPLSTXBITMAPS", multiplying the numbers 1207959552 and
    100 (using the operation * or 'MULTIPLY') resulted in a value
    greater than 2147483647 or smaller than -2147483648. This
    results in a whole number overflow.
    How to correct the error
    The exception must either be prevented, caught within the procedure
    "FILL_BMFILE_FROM_BMP"
    "(FORM)", or declared in the procedure's RAISING clause.
    To prevent the exception, note the following:
    You may be able to split the process into separate components, so that
    the values generated are smaller.
    If the error occurred in one of your own programs or in an SAP program
    that you modified, try to correct it yourself.
    If you cannot solve the problem yourself, please send the
    following documents to SAP:
    1. A hard copy print describing the problem.
       To obtain this, select the "Print" function on the current screen.
    2. A suitable hardcopy prinout of the system log.
       To obtain this, call the system log with Transaction SM21
       and select the "Print" function to print out the relevant
       part.
    3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
       supply the source code.
       To do this, you can either use the "PRINT" command in the editor or
       print the programs using the report RSINCL00.
    4. Details regarding the conditions under which the error occurred
       or which actions and input led to the error.

    What is the problem specifiaclly?
    If the images are intended for web use I would recommend converting them to sRGB which could be done with Edit > Convert to Profile or with File > Save for Web, but as including a Save step in Actions and applying them as Batch can sometimes cause problems I would go with regular converting.
    You could also try Image Processor Pro.

  • Hi, how can i break the value for a row and column once i have converted the image to the array???????

    Hi, I would like to know how can i break the value for a row and column once i have converted the image to the array. I wanted to make some modification on the element of the array at a certain position. how can i do that?
    At the moment (as per attachhment), the value of the new row and column will be inserted by the user. But now, I want to do some coding that will automatically insert the new value of the row and the column ( I will use the formula node for the programming). But the question now, I don't know how to split the row and the column. Is it the value of i in the 'for loop'? I've  tried to link the 'i' to the input of the 'replace subset array icon' , but i'm unable to do it as i got some error.
    Please help me!
    For your information, I'm using LABView 7.0.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.Sorry for the confusion.
    I manage to change the array element by changing the row and column value. But, what i want is to allow the program to change the array element at a specified row and column value, where the new value is generated automatically by the program.
    Atatched is the diagram. I've detailed out the program . you may refer to the comments in the formula node. There are 2 arrays going into the loop. If a >3, then the program will switch to b, where if b =0, then the program will check on the value of the next element which is in the same row with b but in the next column. But if b =45, another set of checking will be done at a dufferent value of row and column.
    I hope that I have made the problem clear. Sorry if it is still confusing.
    Hope you can help me. Thank you!!!!

  • Errors in Export to PDF for web use - some images are lost when PDF is enlarged & in browser

    I have a multi-page PDF in InDesign CS6 that I want to export to view on the web. I need the file to stay under 2MB, and I need it to be crisp and nice enough to read the type on the page (as small as 9pt type).
    The errors that are occurring are the following:
    On some browsers, some images will entirely not show up. Some of the missing images have been pasted into the document, some placed. I cannot think of a correlation.
    When the PDF is enlarged (Adobe Acrobat X 10.1.10) to more than ~200%, there is one placed image that will mostly disappear. What I mean by "mostly" is that little bits of it are still visible, like I masked it carelessly or something. Since this is only occurring with one image it seems that it would be a problem with the image itself, yes? I'm all ears if I'm making a mistake. It is a placed .ai file with no link errors. Should I not be placing directly from illustrator? It renders wonderfully from 100% all the way up to 188%, and then if you enlarge by margins of 1% little bits of it disappear, almost a chunk at a time.
    The way I've been exporting is:
    File > Export > Adobe PDF (Print)
    Adobe PDF Preset: Smallest File Size
    Standard: None
    Compatinility: Acrobat 6 (PDF 1.5)
    Options: Optimize for Fast Web View
    Export Layers: Visible & Printable Layers
    Compression
    I always change the downsampling from [100/150] to [150/225]. I usually leave the JPG image quality low. I leave both bottom boxes checked (compress text and line art, crop image data to frames)
    Output
    Color Conversion: convert to destination
    Destination: sRGB 1EC61966-2.1
    Profile Inclusion Policy: Include Destination Profile
    However, after reading a few other forum questions I started trying to export as Acrobat 4 so that it would flatten. When I do that, problem #2 still persists although I didn't test problem #1. I haven't tried using Distiller, and using the "prepare for web publishing" action within Acrobat itself makes the PDF too artifacted.
    At the heart of my question is this: I am a young designer at an old company that is not necessarily keeping up with the times. I REALLY want to know what the best, most efficient way to export a pdf for web viewing is. Does this exist in InDesign, outside of InDesign? Does it exist at all? Tell me what I'm doing wrong so that I can get better!
    Thank you in advance.

    Show Large Images is a preference inside of Acrobat which might be disabled.

    I am using coreldraw for graphics design but it is related to print (Hardcopies) and corel is not smart soft compared to adobe software.
    So, for web design, I started to learn Fireworks. After some practice, i m able to design web graphics in fireworks.
    But the main problem is that, when that page is exported into html format. All text were converted into Image and it is not useful.

    Fireworks was devdeloped to use with Dreamweaver. It's not a stand alone app for developing web pages. Adobe Muse might be more the kind of app you are looking for. First, however, Give this tutorial a try.

  • Converting an Image object to a BufferedImage object?

    I have a BufferedImage object, bi, which I want to resize, hence:
    Image image = bi.getScaledInstance(400, 300, Image.SCALE_DEFAULT);
    Next I want to encode the resized image to JPEG format. The problem is that inorder to use the JPEGImageEncoder.encode() method, I need to pass it a BufferedImage object. I have looked through the API and cant see a way of converting the Image object to a BufferedImage object.
    Can anyone shed some light on this problem?
    Any help will be much appreciated.

    I copied + pasted the code from:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/2d/problems/ind
    x.html :-)
    So you propably could use :
    int width = 400;
    int height = 300;
    Image image = bi.getScaledInstance(width, height,
    Image.SCALE_DEFAULT);
    BufferedImage bi = new BufferedImage(width, height,
    BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
    Graphics2D biContext = bi.createGraphics();
    biContext.drawImage(img, 0, 0, null);Greets
    PuceThis works fine; but has anybody else noticed this takes an unreasonable amount of time? How to get around this?

  • Converting tiff images into jpeg

    I would like to convert tiff images into jpegs with iphoto. I dont want to duplicate all my photos and then have to delete one by one!
    How do I do this?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The short answer is that you cannot. You will have to export the files via the File->Export->File Export menu option, selecting jpeg as the format and checking the box to include the keywords and comments, and maximum size. Then import the jpgs and delete the tiffs.
    You can get all of the tiff files together by doing a search for .tif. Then do a Select All (Command-A) and go to the export menu. Export all to a folder on the desktop. Import the new jpgs into iPhoto.
    To get rid of the tiffs once the jpgs are imported do another search for the tifs and select all again. Then type Command+Delete. That moves the tiff photos to iPhoto's Trash bin. Then empty the bin.
    If you have multiple files with the same file name you'll have to do some renaming before the export. You can batch rename them using the option Title to Date/Time or just date alone. I use the date taken as the file name as that gives me excellent chronological sorting and searching by filename for dates.

    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
