Problem in Creating Table using DB Config. Assistant

Hi, everybody. I see the error messages below when I use DB Configuration Assitant in Oracle 8i to create my database :-
ORA-01034 : Oracle not available
ORA-27146 : post/wait initializtion failed
ORA-01012 : not logged on
Can u tell me how to solve this problem ?

Connect as servermanager and enter on the prompt
"lsnrctl status" it will give you whether you have started the listener service and after that connect as internal and "startup" if the database is started it will give message "database instance already started" or else it will start the database.
also make sure you have created all control files properly

Logical error in creating tables using db link in solaris

Hi,
While creating table using the syntax create table newtab...as select * from tab@dblink .. I am facing a problem. The newtab table created is having a structure different (from datalength point of view of varchar2 and char datatypes) from the source. The data length is getting tripled i.e. if a column a is varchar2(20) in tab then it is becoming --- a varchar2(60) in newtab. This is happening in solaris environment when the two databases are in 2 different servers. Please let me know if there are any patches to resolve the problem.

Procedure created.AUTHID CURRENT_USER clause before the IS keyword which runddl executes, it should run under the authority of the invoker, or current user not the authority of the definer.
if you omit it then it will no longer will be run if the creator doesnt have privelege to run this ddl regardless invoker has or not.

Problem in creating table maintenance generator for 61 fields in table

Hi Experts,
I am facing problem in creating a table maintenance genarator for a ZTABLE which has 61 fields
i am using below details whicle creating the TMG
in Maintenance screen
i am giving maintenance type as two step
Maint screen no overview screen 2
                          single screen        3
Dialog Data Transport details
Recording routine    standard recording routine
but it is giving following error
screen SAPL<ZTABLE NAME>    0003 could not be generated
In DYNPFIELD_ATTR mandatory field LINE has no value
please let me know how to sort out these errors.
Is there any limit on the number of fields for which we can create table maintenance generetor.

Hi Sudipto,
There is not limit to the number of fields of the Table which can be used in TMG for generation. But, from the usability point of view this will horrible.
I created a Z table and added 64 fields and was able to generate the TMG with the screens perfectly. So, I guess there should not be any problem.
Well, have a look at the Function Group. I guess the screen numbers are already used by some other screens. You can set the system to propose freely available screen numbers from the pool.
Also, check whether proper authorization is assigned or not.
And if nothing is working, you can degenerate all the generated screens and then can have a new regeneration of it.

Trying to create table using Union All Clause with multiple Select stmts

The purpose of the query is to get the Substring from the value for eg.
if the value is *2 ASA* then it should come as ASA
where as if the value is *1.5 TST* the it sholud come as TST like wise for others too.

When you create a table using a SELECT statement the column names are derived from the SELECT list.
Your problem is that one of your columns is an expression that does not work as a column name SUBSTR(old_care_lvl,3)What you need to do is alias this expression and the CREATE will pick up the alias as the column name, like this:

I never heard that there is any issue with additional / custom tables in a B1 <b>company</b> database.
For certification there is no issue with that - except that you must use your SAP namespace also for these tables.

PS: Adding tables to SBO-Common is a different game though since it is not expected that a partner adds tables there and <u>eventually</u> additional tables there might get removed during upgrades.
If you have a need for additional data storage across all companies, please create a dedicated database for that purpose.

Problems when creating form using wizard

i use the data block wizard to create a form but one of my field, i use a radio button.in the layout editor, the radio button did not appear.how can i make it appear on my screen?

Performance problem while creating table at runtim

I have pl/sql block like
Begin
Exceute immediate 'drop table x '
Execute immediate 'create table x as select .... stament (complex select by joining 7-8 tables);
Execute immediate ('create index ind1 on table x'); -- i am not writing the full syntax
End;
The select statement used in create table is fetching 10 millions of rows (approx).
The above pl/sql block is taking 30-45 minutes.
Without going in depth of query used in select (as i have to explain the functionality otherwise),
Could any one please suggest to create a table in fatset way like nolooging or seperate tablespace with bigger block size or any change in any DB parameter etc.
The db server is having excelent hardware configuration 32GB ram , multi CPU (16 CPUs) , Huge hardisk.

Create Table using DBMS_SQL package and size not exceeding 64K

I have a size contraint that my SQL size should not exceed 64K.
Now I would appriciate if some one could tell me how to create a table using
Dynamic sql along with usage of DBMS_SQL package.
Brief Scenario: Users at my site are not given permission to create table.
I need to write a procedure which the users could use to create a table .ALso my SQL size should not exceed 64K. Once this Procedure is created using DBMS_SQL package ,user should pass the table name to create a table.

Well, it depends on what you want to do. I could write a stored proc that creates a table in my schema and give some other user execute privilege on it. They would then be able to create a able in my schema without any explicitly granted create table privilege.
Similarly, assuming I have CREATE ANY TABLE granted directly to me, I could write a stroe proc that would create a table in another users schema. As long as they have quota on their default tablespace, they do not need CREATE TABLE privileges.

Create table using a dynamic SQL returns error.

It throws an error saying
"Exact fetch returns more than requested no. of rows"

Works for me. But the more important question would be the need to have this run within PL/SQL? Why do you want to do that? what is the requirement? can you not do this one time at SQL*Plus prompt and be done with it?

The SQL syntax for creating a table is:
CREATE TABLE table_name
column_name1 data_type,
column_name2 data_type,
column_name3 data_type,
)The toolkit has a funciton called DB Tools Create Table. That would be the obvious function to use if you don't want to execute a SQL query to create the table. The tooklit comes with examples. Have you looked at them? There's one called Create Database Table that would seem to be exactly what you are looking for.

Problem with External Table using ORACLE_INTERNAL TYPE in 9i release 2

I have tried to create an external table in oracle 9i release 2 using the following qurey:

As a matter of fact oracle 9i has two types of api for external tables one is oracle_loader and the other is oracle_internal which in 10g become oracle_datapump.
What my question is how can I use the other type in case of external table as we are doing in 10g? Do I need to run any script to enable this feature or is there any privillege issue?
I've given the read, write privillege to the user and the oracle user has read/write permission in os level on the location of the directory.
