Problem in Distributed transaction with Oracle 8.1.7 and Weblogic 7.0
Hi,
I am using two unmanaged weblogic 7.0 servers and oracle 8.1.7 enterprise edition.
I am using oracle.jdbc.xa.client.OracleXADataSource for creating connection pool
in weblogic. The pool gets created fine but when connection it is getting used
it throws up following error.

I don't know what is causing this problem.Please send me the pointers.

ID is a NUMBER and id.toString() is not a number, for
example it ca be a null reference.
well we tryed also this version :
ps.setLong(1, id.longValue());
moreover the exception wasn't thrown for the value of id :56 but was thrown for the value of id : 88. Hence I think it is a case of something other than my code.

I am running SQL Agent that executes an SSIS process from sql server1. The SSIS process executes its SQL/tables/sp’s against another sql server2.
I get an error after adding data flow tasks with transaction supported within a sequence with transaction required. The error, “The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D024 "The transaction
manager has disabled its support for remote/network transactions"
Prior to adding this sequence everything was working from sql agent, and there were other sequences with oledb destinations.
Everything works when running within SSIS Package.
I see this article on similar issue,
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/0bfa2569-8849-4884-8f68-8edf98a9b4fe/problem-to-execute-a-package-and-tasks-with-a-certain-transactionoption-property-i-need-help?forum=sqlintegrationservices
“I had similar issue and solved by setting the following on both the machines. Allow Remote Clients, Allow Remote Administration,
Allow Inbound Clients, Allow Outbound Clients, and TIP are enabled in Component Services/My Computer/Properties/MSDTC/Security Configuration.”
I don’t want to remove transaction required for the “Remove Duplicates from Staging” sequence.
Anyone seen this?
Greg HansonDTC was running on remote computer. The problem was it was no longer accepting transactions from remote servers. This was in SSIS so I had to turn to "Transaction Supported" for all Data Flow Transactions.

JDBC Problem with Oracle 8.1.7. and OC4J Version 2
I use the following connection statement with Oracle 8.1.7. and JDeveloper 3 and Apache Server. It works fine.
String user = "scott/tiger";
DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:oci8:"+user+"@RDL");
The same program does not obtain the connection with JDeveloper 9i, OC4J Version 2 and Oracle 8.1.7. I do not receive any error message, no exception is thrown.
Please help me.Hi Avi,
I had already tried the thin Diriver but after yout help I try again.
With this thin driver, I received a SQLException which helps me.
As usual, there were a lot of different problems. The main one was that my default configuration do not use the jdbc/lib817 main jdbc/lib. There is a classe12.jar in these libs that are apparently different.
Finally, I obtain the connection with the "thin" driver.
Thank you very much Avi!

Many of my older ITunes downloads play perfectly well on my IMac but constantly skip to the next song or suddenly stop playing on my IPhone. The problem is the same with both my old 4s and my new 5s phones. I have tried deleting and re-downloading my music library to the phones, but the result is always the same.
I'm adding more information:
in Finder, my iMovie folders are all visible and accessible. When I click on a clip from iMovie Events folder, Quicktime opens and plays the clip. ALL my video is not missing - it just isn't showing up in the Event Library!
This happened all of a sudden, while I was working on iMovie project (on both computers).
All my Projects are intact, and play when I open them. -
Unable to enlist in a distributed transaction (Windows7, Oracle 11G R1)
Hi,
I have a .Net application running on Windows 7 x64 using VisualStudio2008 and Oracle 11G R1 32bit client
In it I call a webservice calling another webservice, this requires to use oramts that interfaces with Microsoft DTC. However I'm getting the following error when calling the service method:
"Unable to enlist in a distributed transaction"
I have checked the following:
- Ora MTS is installed
- DTC is running, the security settings allow AX transactions (in fact I just allowed everything)
- Network services have the permission to access oracle dlls
- The registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSDTC\MTxOCI contains the following: "OracleXaLib"="xa80.dll" "OracleSqlLib"="SQLLib80.dll" "OracleOciLib"="oci.dll" (not sure if this is right)
What is it I'm doing wrong ? Does this version of Oracle work correctly on W7 ?
By the way it works fine on Windows XP !
I've spend quite some time trying to find a resolution..
Thanks!I think I answered my own question
It seems that MSDTC is not supported by Oracle 11G R1 on Windows x64 !
All Oracle Database components are supported on Windows x64 with the following exceptions:
•Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server are not supported on Windows Vista. As a result, all Oracle Windows data access drivers on Windows Vista that use Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server to enlist in Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) coordinated transactions cannot participate in those coordinated transactions. These data access drivers include Oracle Data Provider for .NET, Oracle Provider for OLE DB, Oracle Objects for OLE, and ODBC. Check OracleMetaLink for up to date information on Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server certification with Windows Vista.

Distributed transactions with container-managed MDBs
I have built a framework that employs a high rate of code reuse while abstracting
the complexities of inter-application communication. This allows application
developers to focus on solving their business needs and not worry about "the plumbing"
between the applications.
At this point, the framework is using container-managed MDBs for Topic destinations.
MDBs were chosen because of their concurrent nature for processing JMS messages.
Now that I have this framework up and running, I am trying to add distributed
transaction support and am having trouble understanding what I need to do. Here
is how the framework works:
The MDB will recieve a message, unmarshall it into a business object, and then
route that object to the appropriate business class where it is then processed
accordingly. In most cases, the processing of this message object will require
database interaction. If any error should occur while processing the message,
all XAResources within the transaction should rollback and ultimately, the JMS
message will be redelivered later.
Here is what I'm trying to find out:
1. When control is passed to an application and it gets a DB connection, will
that DB resource be dynamically enlisted with the transaction?
2. Must the DB connection come from the WLS DB pool to be enlisted with the transaction?
I ask this because the current standard at this company is to use a home-grown
DB connection pool for getting DB connections. This is due to the fact that not
all applications here run in a WLS environment and they wanted a standard way
of retrieving a DB connection across applications. They also sited problems with
WLS 4.5.1 connection pool.
3. The documentation states that only one database may be involved in a transaction.
If a connection to another database is required, but not needed in the current
transaction, will WLS ignore enlisting the 2nd DB resource, or throw an exception?
4. Where can I find <B>detailed</B> information about this subject? Everything
that I have read so far has barely scratched the surface for this specific topic.
Thanks,
Bob.
Hi Bob,
If you are using WLS's XA connection pool, then the XAResource associated with
the XA connections are enlisted with the transaction transparently for you. Enlistments
actually occur not at getConnection, but on demand when the JDBC objects are actually
used.
If you are not using WLS connection pools, then you would need to enlist the XAResource
associated with the XA connections yourself. You can obtain the transaction associated
with the current thread by calling weblogic.transaction.TxHelper.getTransaction(),
and then call enlistResource on the transaction.
Weblogic has provisions that allow one (and only one) non-XA connection pool to
participate in a distributed transaction. In this case, you will get a SQLException
when you try to obtain a connection from a second connection pool in the same
distributed transaction. However, if you are using real XA connection pools,
there is no limitation and any number of XA connection pools can participate in
the same distributed transaction.
We will try to incorporate more info in our online docs in the future.

ORA-00164 Autonomous and Distributed Transactions in Oracle 8i - Forms6i
Hi, in Forms6i I'm using Autonomous transactions (insert and update), and I want to use also a database link to make a query in a remote database (Distributed transaction). Even when this request are done in different PL/SQL within Forms6i, I get the error message ORA-00164 Distributed transactions disallowed within autonomous transactions. Is there a way to avoid this error message?
ThanxHello,
I had a similar Problem, when I tried to log errormessages while selecting by db-link.
I use pipes now to send the errormessages. The pipe is read at regular intervals and then I can Insert without using autonomous transactions.
I hope, this will help you

What logging implementation for distributed transaction on Oracle 8?
Hi,
I have a script running on Oracle 8 that accesses remote databases. I would like to create a transaction log that creates log entries in another table as the script progresses. I initially tried creating a logging procedure that used PRAGMA AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION but this failed because of this error message:
ORA-00164: autonomous transaction disallowed within distributed transaction
I can't set the transaction to read only as database updates are part of the script.
Is there another strategy that I could use to create the logs I need?
Cheers,

I am connecting from Oracle to another database server (MS SQL Server, DB2 the error message is the same) through an ODBC connection using Oracle SQL Developer. (This is how I set up)
I want to query the schema of a non-Oracle database using the data dictionary mapping of the Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC.
This works well:
select * from all_tables@katimssql;
But this doesn't:
create table alltables_mssql as
select * from all_tables@katimssql;
Output:
Error report:
SQL Error: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-02047: cannot join the distributed transaction in progress
ORA-06512: at "SYS.HS$_DDTF_SQLTABLES", line 58
ORA-06512: at line 1
Does anyone know the solution of this?
Thanks in advance,

I tried these, none of them worked, the error message is the same.
HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = off
HS_TRANSACTION_MODEL = SINGLE_SITE
HS_TRANSACTION_MODEL = READ_ONLY_AUTOCOMMIT
HS_TRANSACTION_MODEL = READ_ONLYHi Kata,
this won't work as the ALL_TABLES is not a table that exists in your SQl Server - instead it is a "mimicked" table. This means the gateway will check if you have on your SQL Server a table called all_tables and when there's no table it will start an internal mechanism to check out what sort of tables exist in your SQL Server database. So the gateway is starting internally another transaction to get details from the foreign database and DG4ODBC can't participate in distributed transactions at all. Instead of using all_tables you have to use a real SQL Server table like SQ Server sys.objects or sys.tables.

Hi Kannan,
Did the XA connection pool start up successfully? (e.g. did you see messages like "<Connection for XA pool "xxx" created.>" in the server log?) Could you describe briefly what you are doing, and post the full stack trace and any relevant code snippet, config.xml etc?

Problem while using XML with Oracle
I have a problem using XML with oracle applications
The process I am following
1. Making a XML string.
2. Parsing it to get a document
3. Free the parser using xmlparser.freeparser
4. Traversing through nodes .
5. Freeing the document.
The whole Process is executed in batch mode.
The problem occurs after executing the procedure for 5000 records and I get the error
ORA-04031: unable to allocate 4176 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool","unknown object","sga
heap","library cache")
Can you please help me out to overcome this problem
It's urgent
I have
Oracle version 8.1.7.0.0
XML version 1.2
OS Windows NT
To resolve the problem I have increase shared memory size and java initialization parameters ,which seems OK
Looking forward for your answer.Hello, Reena
Your process flow seems to be correct in term of getting/freeing memory.
Following error
The problem occurs after executing the procedure for 5000 records and I get the error
ORA-04031: unable to allocate 4176 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool","unknown object","sga
heap","library cache")may be caused by memory leaks in xdk or memory fragmentation(due to get/free memory cycle)
To find out if this is an memory leak issue you could try to monitor V$SGASTAT from one session while running your batch process in another session.
To prevent (or lower its impact) fragmentation issues try to PIN objects, and adjust java_pool_size and shared_pool_reserved_size.
Anyway, counsult your Oracle DBA.
Oracle version 8.1.7.0.0I think, you should apply database patch first of all. The latest one (8.1.7.4.x) could be accured from Metalink. -
