Problem in editing xml document

Hi,
Can anybody help me out of this problem basically i want to develop sample prog that will take care of editng the existing xml document eg. i want to edit resource file for the application like if user want to change some property through the user interface and i want to reflect that input to the xml files.
Help me as soon as possible ............. its very urgent .......................
Regards
Sanket

Output document with a transformer.
TransformerFactory tFactory =TransformerFactory.newInstance();
            Transformer transformer = tFactory.newTransformer();
            DOMSource source = new DOMSource(document);
            StreamResult result = new StreamResult(new File("c:/output/output.xml"));
            transformer.transform(source, result);

  • Help required to edit xml document

    I am new to java and xml compatibility.I just had familiarised SAX parser.
    I now want to familiarse the technology to edit xml document from a java program(more precisely write to an xml file).I came to know about many methods - JAXP DOM method,JAXB api method - and is totally confused.
    Can any body give me guidance about these api's and suggest a method that
    i should follow?
    i repeat that my application will have to frequently edit xml files
    Thank you

    Hi,
    it's very easy to edit and create XML. See examples in docs: http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/langref/XML.html#includeExamplesSummary
    There are many examples how to get attributes and other data.
    You also can set attributes the same way.
    If you have concrete questions, ask.

  • Using JAXB to edit XML documents

    I am trying to understand how (and whether) JAXB can be used to make the following types of changes to an existing XML document. I know that I can EDIT an XML document using the set methods that are generated by JAXB (in conformance with the XML Schema), and then I create a Marshaller and marshall the root element object.
    However, I have not figured out how to do any of the following:
    (i) insert a new element
    (ii) delete an existing element
    (iii) reorder elements.
    Here is an excerpt from an XML document:
    <directory name="dir">
    <file name="file1"/>
    <file name="file2"/>
    <file name="file3"/>
    </directory>
    The order in which the file elements appear is significant.
    If I want to add a new file (file4), how would I do this? Where would it be added, at the end? What if I wanted to add it after file2?
    If I want to delete file1, I don't know how to do that.
    Finally, if I want to move file2 after file3, I don't know how to do that.
    It seems as though I need access to the underlying com.sun.xml.bind.util.ListImpl (or similar collection object), which holds the actual file elements when JAXB unmarshals the xml file. However, this seems dangerous and I have gotten a concurrent access exception while trying to do something like this. (Another problem has to do with iterators, where I can't iterate through a list and then make a change to the list w/o messing up the iterator.)
    If there are any technologies other than JAXB that might accomplish this, but that provide data binding, I would be happy to hear about it. (I could try SAX/DOM/JDOM/DOM4J or XSLT, I guess, but I like the data binding of JAXB.)

    As is typical for me, I answered my own questions.
    if you are outside of an iterator, you can simply use the:
    add(object)
    add(position,object)
    remove(object)
    methods of the List interface to add and remove elements from the list of elements.
    Also, if you use a ListIterator, you can call the add() and remove() methods of ListIterator while iterating through the list.
    In order to reorder elements in the list, use:
    Collections.swap(list,pos1,pos2). Why this method is not built into the List interface itself is beyond me. This was only added in 1.4, btw.

  • Problem in inserting XML document

    Give XML DTD :
    <!ELEMENT a (b, c)>
    <!ELEMENT b (#PCDATA)>
    <!ELEMENT c (d, e)>
    <!ELEMENT d (#PCDATA)>
    <!ELEMENT e (#PCDATA)>
    I made schema at Oracle8i as this:
    create type c_t
    as object (d varchar2(3),
    e varchar2(3));
    create table a (
    b varchar2(3),
    c c_t,
    constraint b_pk primary key (b));
    And the XML document to insert into DB is as this:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW>
    <b>"100"</b>
    <c><d>"aaa"</d><e>"abc"</e></c>
    </ROW>
    <ROW>
    <b>"200"</b>
    <c><d>"bbb"</d><e>"def"</e></c>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    Using Oracle8i's XML-JAVA library interface,
    I tried to insert the XML document into the DB table, but JAVA runtime exception occurred says "java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.jdbc.oci8.OCIDBAccess: method initObjectFields(Loracle/jdbc/dbaccess/DBColumn;[BI)V not found".
    How can I solve this problem?

  • Small problem reading an XML document

    Hi,
    I have code that can read an XML document like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <something>
    <order orderid="1">
    <customerid>12341</customerid>
    </order>
    </something>
    but when I take out the first tag <something> and last tag </something> , it doesn't work at all and I have no clue why. Here is my code:
    public class SaveOrders extends Object {
          try {
             //Get the root element and all order elements
             Element ordersRoot = ordersDoc.getDocumentElement();
             NodeList orders = ordersRoot.getElementsByTagName("order");
             for (int i = 0; i < orders.getLength(); i++) {
                //For each order, get the order element
                Element thisOrder = (Element)orders.item(i);
          } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
             System.out.println("Error creating class: "+e.getMessage());thanks for your help!

    Every XML document must have a Document Root (in your case <something>). So, if you have multiple <order>'s within your XML document, there is no Doc Root! Eeek!
    Get it? If you only have one <order> per XML file, then you should be alright (and might have another problem) because that <order> becomes the root, but the instant you have more than one, you need something to put all of them (your Doc Root).
    Hope that helps!

  • Editing XML documents from iFS WebUI

    When I click on an XML document within the iFS WebUI, it opens the file and shows it to me within Internet Explorer.
    I want the document to be opened on my workstation with Arbortext Epic Editor, but IE keeps trying to display it.
    Has anyone had a problem like this? I don't want Internet Explorer to open the document, but what the XML file is associated with within Windows...
    I have tried changing the MIME type for XML documents within JWS from default to application/octet-stream in an attempt to force IE to pass it to the operating system... but it didn't work.. unless I change the wrong mime.properties file...
    Anyone have a solution?

    Did you change your settings in IE for that mimetype ?

  • Problem to validate XML document if the type of root element is abstract

    I have the following XML document:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <ct013/>
    It corresponds to the following XSD Schema:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
         <xs:element name="ct013" type="foo"/>
         <xs:complexType abstract="true" name="foo"/>
         <xs:complexType name="fixedType">
              <xs:complexContent>
                   <xs:restriction base="foo"/>
              </xs:complexContent>
         </xs:complexType>
    </xs:schema>
    Please take attention to the fact that the type of root element of that BDD is abstract.
    XML Schema provides a mechanism to force substitution for a particular element or type. When an element or type is declared to be "abstract", it cannot be used in an instance document. When an element is declared to be abstract, a member of that element's substitution group must appear in the instance document. When an element's corresponding type definition is declared as abstract, all instances of that element must use xsi:type to indicate a derived type that is not abstract.
    Declaring an element as abstract requires the use of a substitution group. Declaring a type as abstract simply requires the use of a type derived from it (and identified by the xsi:type attribute) in the instance document.
    For more information of using abstract types please see chapter 4.7 Abstract Elements and Types of XML Schema Part 0: Primer Second (http://www.w3.org/TR/xmlschema-0/#abstract).
    In this case there is Oracle bug when I try to validate this XML document using Oracle XDK:
    String validate(String xml, String schema)
    throws XSDException, XMLParseException, SAXException, IOException
    System.setPropert("oracle.xml.parser.debugmode", "true");
    XSDValidator xsdValidator = new XSDValidator();
    XMLError xmlError = new XMLError();
    xmlError.setErrorHandler(new DocErrorHandler());
    XMLDocument xmlDocument = parseXMLDocument(xml);
    XMLDocument schemaXMLDocument = parseXMLDocument(schema);
    XMLSchema xmlSchema = (XMLSchema) new XSDBuilder().build(schemaXMLDocument, null);
    xsdValidator.setError(xmlError);
    xsdValidator.setSchema(xmlSchema);
    xsdValidator.validate(xmlDocument);
    return getValidationError(xsdValidator);
    I get the following error:
    Can't find resource for bundle oracle.xml.mesg.XMLResourceBundle, key XSD-2046.
    I tried to validate this XML document using two other libraries - XSD Schema Validator (http://apps.gotdotnet.com/xmltools/xsdvalidator/Default.aspx) and xsdvalid-29 (http://www.w3.org/XML/Schema#XSDValid). Both libraries pointed me on the error that the type of root element is abstract and it cannot be used for doing validation.
    I think that Oracle should return me explaining message but not to throw exception.
    Am I right? Is there really Oracle bug or I miss something?
    Any help, hits, advices would be gratfully apriciated.

    Define Element1 as follows:
    <xs:element name="Element1">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:complexContent>
    <xs:restriction base="xs:string"/>
    </xs:complexContent>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    Does the XML document get validated if the element is specified as
    <Element1></Element1>

  • Editing xml documents

    My application uses xml for data persistency. My question is:
    1. is there a way to partially edit part of the xml file? because if I make some small changes to my data, i wish to save just that part.
    2. Or I can just save the whole thing and overwrite the orignal file entirely, is this a common practice?
    thanks!

    A javax.xml.transform.Transformer  transform method stores a Documentnode or a DocumentFragment node.
    Transformer transformer;
    Document document;
    Node node;
    DocumentFragment documentFragment=document.createDocumentFragment();
    documentFragment.appendChild(node);
    transformer.transform(new DOMSource(document), new StreamResult(new File("c:/output/output.xml")));
    transformer.transform(new DOMSource(documentFragment), new StreamResult(new File("c:/output/outputNode.xml")));

  • SAF-T Problem when editing XML file

    hello,
    SAP released the RTXDART_PT report, to satisfy a new Portuguese legal requirement that becomes mandatory for all companies (following OECD norm).
    The SAF-T is a file containing reliable accounting data exportable from an original accounting system (we use DART module in SAP) for a specific time period and easily readable.
    I have just implemented the solution DART but I have a problem to produce the XML file.
    I have the flat file using FTW1A transaction but when I launch RTXDART_PT transaction, I have not the XML file created.
    Does anybody know how to proceed ?
    Thank you very much.

    Bom dia
    Nós temos um problema com o Codepage layout, mesmo depois de termos aplicado a nota:
    Note 1128306 - SAFT-PT: RTXDART_PT : Dart PT additional corrections
    Criado o Badi e aplicado as correcções adicionais.

    Your schemaLocation value is not a URI? To me, it looks like the value should conform to this:
    http://www.w3.org/TR/2004/REC-xmlschema-2-20041028/datatypes.html#anyURI
    I will let you read all those specs to see whether that is your problem.

  • Problem validating XMl document

    Hi everyone,
    I'm facing a problem validating a XML document with Apache toolkit under windows XP and eclipse 3.0
    I generate a pair of public/private keys using the RSA algorithm. The keys are of arbitrary length, but satisfying RSA conditions, ie we can encrypt and decrypt.

    Do you think that arbitrary length keys don't allow to validate XML document. And do you have any idea how to solve the problem ( I'm not allowed to generate fixed length keys) ?

    PostToolDocGroupeComboBox.addItem(type);
    i++;
    } while (node.getFirstChild().getNodeValue() != null);

    But while i am trying to execute the same code in jdk/bin, xml document is not working..
    No error encountered while compiling but while executing when i try to print the xml string it just gives the root element name like [root : null]
    Can anyone suggest some solution?

    To the values element add xmlns:xsi and xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation.
    <values xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";
    xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="file:///c:/schema.xsd">schema.xsd is schema file.

  • No default attributes while Parsing XML document

    Hellow.
    I have such a problem:
    I have XML document that uses XSD-schema.
    In XSD-schema there is element that have two atributes:
    <xsd:complexType name = "El1">
          <xsd:attribute name = "atr1" xsd:default = "0" type = "xsd:boolean"/>
          <xsd:attribute name = "atr2" default = "0" type = "xsd:boolean"/>
    </xsd:complexType>And in XML document I write:
    <El1 atr1 = "1"/>According to the XSD-schema parser must add to El1 second attribute "atr2" with its default value because it has default value. But when I do such a code:
    factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    doc = builder.parse(new File("file1.xml"));
    Element pEl;
    pEl = doc.getDocumentElement()
    NamedNodeMap Attribs = pEl.getAttributes();In the list of attributes "Attribs" - there is no attribute "attr1"!!!
    What I have to do???

    Hello All
    I am new to this parsing world. I have a doubt. I have an XML like
    <xml>
    <platform name = "windows">
    <computer>
    <hostname> hostname1 </hostname>
    <IPAddress>127.0.3.03 </IPAddress>
    </computer>
    <computer>
    <hostname> hostname2 </hostname>
    <IPAddress>127.0.3.04 </IPAddress>
    </computer>
    </platform>
    <platform name = "unix">
    <computer>
    <hostname> hostname6 </hostname>
    <IPAddress>127.0.3.08 </IPAddress>
    </computer>
    <computer>
    <hostname> hostname7 </hostname>
    <IPAddress>127.0.3.09 </IPAddress>
    </computer>
    </platform>
    </xml>
    If i want to get details about individual computer under each platform as a string how do i do that?
    Which parser would be ideal to be used DOM or SAX.
