Problem in executing vb script in java pgm

hi
i need to execute vb script in java pgm
i code is given below
there are no errors but the script is not executed,instead if i replace "command.exe \C G:/vb.vbs" with notepad,notepad is being executed
import java.lang.*;
import java.io.*;
public class run
public static void main(String args[])
Process p1;
Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime();
try
     p1 = r.exec("command.exe \C G:/vb.vbs");
catch(NullPointerException eo){}
catch(IOException e) { }
}

Isn't it supposed to be "/C" and not "\C"?

    Yes. Using ProcessBuilder. And read [When Runtime.exec() wont|http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html]. It's old, but pretty much all of it is still true.

  • Problem executing Unix script from Java...

    Hi there, I'm having trouble executing a unix script from a java program. The script receives multiple parameters and it seems that one of them ( or more ) is not well interpreted. When I run the script directly from a shell, the script executes without any errors. But, when I run the exact same script with the exact same parameters, it does not work.
    Here is the command to execute the script with all the parameters that is executed from the shell ( with success ) and also from the java program ( with errors ):
    /z/opus/dcap/intfu001.csh 'NODEBUG^NOTKPROF^NOSTACK' opus dcap JACQUES JACQUES '2625781' 'ORA$PIPE$001D00D70001' JOB^DEBUG^SINISIMU^STATPROD^DECTIDANC^81^503^4080^86^87^151^97^98^99 BUT^N^N^SPRI^0^13^24^3^J^05^N^19^19^19 >> /tmp/switcher8.999.null.pgm.test
    And here is my portion of code that executes the script:
    Runtime wShell = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process wProc = wShell.exec(cmd_unix_final);
    wProc.waitFor();
    return wProc.exitValue();
    Please give me your thoughts on this!
    Thanks in advance!

    Ok.
    Let's proceed surgically, else we'll never solve or overcome anything.
    In the last your reply you wrote:
    the normal output is what I get when the script runs successfully, the script first prints a few things
    and then does stuff that takes at least 2 or 3 secondsWhat do you mean?
    -Finally have you got your script correctly executed?
    The stuffs you spoke of are really performed?
    If this is the case I can't see the prob.
    Is your concern only about exitValue() for it doesn't let you distinguish programmatically
    the success or failure of the script execution?
    Of course you surely already have a routine in your java code to handle
    exceptional situations of errors from the script.
    And the "normal output" is just what you must parse to detect those errors.
    Then who cares about exitValue() in this case?
    Don't invoke it, relay on the stdout and stderr of the script.
    -Or you get only a deceiving standard output
    that let you think the script execution went alright, while instead it didn't.
    In this case we have to investigate some other thing.
    I can't still exclude that the problem isn't related with the buffer size of the stdout
    allocated by the environment to the subprocess. You spoke of few things printed out.
    Be explicit. What's the size of the output you get?
    And is the "normal output" complete till the very last char
    or is it truncated from somewhere on?
    Also it's important that you hit a ps command after the java main process terminates
    (or simply when waitFor() returns) and see if the script subprocess hung up.
    As an alternative approach directly call your pro*C code from Java through JNI, instead of translating it.

    Hi,
    You use Runtime.exec to execute commands / exe-files. See the documentation (and remember that it will only work on windows):

    With this code, the actual export of the project starts only after Java application is closed and not immediately on the click of a button.
    I have used Runtime.exec() tooo...The same problem is there..

  • Problem in executing a SP in Java using Oracle OCI Driver...

    Hi,
    I have a installed the Oracle OCI driver on iPlanet Web Server 4.1. The application has been designed using the Jakarta Struts framework where the dom classes act as an interface between the database and the application(action classes). The dom classes execute stored procedures stored in an SP packages (eg. DDTS_PACK.setContact(..)). Now here's the problem. When a new record is being inserted, the dom executes the 'setContact' stored procedure using a java.sql.CallableStatement. The execution of this stored procedure is successful at times and fails at times. What could be the reason?? Could it be something to do with connection pooling. The default connection pooling class from oracle, oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionCacheImpl() is being used to get the connection. The funny thing is that the stored procedure gets executed both the time (success/failure) and returns a return status as 'N' when it fails and 'Y' when it is successful.
    I would be greatful to anybody who could give a solution to the above problem. Thanks and have a great day.
    Regards,
    Anand

    Since the pipe '|' is interpreted by the shell then you need the shell to invoke your command
            String[] command = {"sh","-c","find /tmp/reports1 -name " + "\"" + "*" + "\"" + " -mtime +" + strdaysback + " -print|xargs rm -r"};
            final Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command);
      You should also read http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html at least twice and implement the recommendation regarding stdout and stderr.
    P.S. Why are you not using Java to find and delete these files?

    Hii Stephan
    I am facing the exact problem as you are did. The SLD connection failed when BI-java template installer. Were you able to solve this? Is the problem due to user missing in the central SLD as in BI ABAP. Please let me know the solution if it had worked for you.

  • Problems with executing shell script within oracle procedure

    I have procedure that's owned by Semantic user. This procedure calls job scheduler (owned by USER1) which in turn executes a shell script load_semantic.sh (owned by USER1).
    Now, there is a shell script(checkCount.sh)inside of this one (owned by this USER1) that has following contents:
    checkCount.sh
    #!/bin/bash
    MODEL=$1
    sqlplus -S user/pass << EOF
    whenever sqlerror exit 1;
    set echo on
    set verify off
    MERGE INTO SEMANTIC.COUNT_STATISTICS s
    USING (SELECT '$MODEL' AS MODEL, 0 AS NEW_COUNT, SYSDATE AS NEW_DATE, 0 AS OLD_COUNT, SYSDATE AS OLD_DATE FROM dual) t
    on (s.MODEL = t.MODEL)
    when not matched then
    INSERT (s.MODEL, s.NEW_COUNT, s.NEW_DATE, s.OLD_COUNT, s.OLD_DATE)
    VALUES (t.MODEL, t.NEW_COUNT, t.NEW_DATE, t.OLD_COUNT, t.OLD_DATE);
    COMMIT;
    UPDATE SEMANTIC.COUNT_STATISTICS SET  MODEL = '$MODEL', NEW_COUNT = (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TABLE(SEM_MATCH('{?s ?p ?o}',SEM_Models('$MODEL'),NULL,SEM_ALIASES(SEM_ALIAS('','http://VISION/DataSource/SEMANTIC#')),NULL)) ),NEW_DATE  = SYSDATE,
    OLD_COUNT = NEW_COUNT, OLD_DATE  = NEW_DATE WHERE MODEL = '$MODEL' AND NEW_DATE = (select max(NEW_DATE) from SEMANTIC.COUNT_STATISTICS where MODEL = '$MODEL');
    COMMIT;
    exit;
    EOF
    So when I execute SEMANTIC.PROCEDURE:
    SEMANTIC.PROCEDURE => USER1.JOBSCHEDULER =>USER1.load_semantic.sh =>USER1.checkCount.sh
    It never populates the table SEMANTIC.COUNT_STATISTICS.
    I tried giving all of the permissions but I am probably missing something...
    Maybe fresh eyes can see something that I can't.

    I can't believe I am going to say this but the reason it was not working was because I removed oracle environment path from my script by mistake.
    . /etc/profile.d/oracle.sh
    Ugh...
    Now it is working perfectly.
    Btw, sqlplus does know about shell environment variables.
