Problem in running a class inside java_home/jre/lib/ext

I have a class file.
I compiled the class and packaged it to a jar file .
Then i place the jar file at java-home/jre/lib/ext
Now when i try to run this file it shows a NoClassDefFoundError
Do i need to set the path in some .properties files.???
please help me out....

i think its to do with setting the
java.ext.dirs path
if i compile it with like
java -Djava.ext.dirs=D:\jdk\jre\lib\ext Testthen it works and shows the Classloader as "ExtClassLoader"
But this is a run time setting.
How can i set this property "java.ext.dirs" permanently.

    Andrew,
Thanks for the lightning response... but the problem has been solved.
I rebooted again, and installed again (didn't download again because the filesize checked out) and now it works fine, and I'm none the wiser as to the root cause of the problem, except that rt.jar has magically appeared:

  • Keyboard Problem while running Swing App on LINUX

    Hi All,
We have a Swing based Application running on Windows Platform. We need to run the Application on LINUX. The Application does not have any problem and runs without problems for a few minutes but after that the keyboard stops to respond inside the application. Keyboard runs fine outside the application but no key events are recognized inside the application. Mouse is working fine even after the keyboard stops responding.
    Key Points:
The keyboard is a PS/2 keyboard.
Read Hat Fedora 5.0 is being used.
The problems occur on both KDE and GNONE.
         The Java Version is jdk1.5.0_09
The application is data entry application using EJB at server side. The client UI has lot of JTables and Desktop Panes/ Internal Frames. User use ctrl+tab, ctrl+shift+tab, tab, shift+tab, and other hot keys to navigate between Components. Listeners on keyboard Focus Owner are also used. We are unable to diagnose the problem because of the undeterminable nature of the problem. The problem occurs at anytime and does not occur on any special key/ combinations press.

    at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method)
    at java.lang.... etc, etc.
It goes on with about 30 different classes. It
compiles fine, with no errors, but when it comes time
to run, that's what I get. This is what I have in my
.bash_profile as far as environment variables go:
    export JAVA_HOME="/usr/local/j2sdk1.4.1_01"
    export PATH="$JAVA_HOME/BIN:$PATH"
    export
CLASSPATH="$JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/:$JAVA_HOME/lib:."The code works fine in Windows, so unless there's
    something platform-specific, I don't think there's a

the right java and javac. I'm out of ideas. Any

I may just be crazy, but your PATH looks a little screwy to me. I was under the impression that the standard java installation has its executables in the 'bin' directory, not the 'BIN' directory. Unless Debian has fallen to the evil empire, then I'm fairly sure file names are case-sensitive. I don't know if that will fix your problem though. Do you compile from the command line, or do you use an IDE???

    Hi ,
I have problem to run java class from my java application,
I am using the class ClassLoader in order to launched the Java class , its work fine whenever, the class exist in the same folder , however , when i am trying to run class that is not in the current folder ,

What does "run an class" mean? You don't run classes. They're not executables.
I bet your problem is the classpath. You are aware that the classloader looks only there? Unless it's an UrlClassLoader.

  • Linux JRE and /lib/ext directory

I know this topic is fairly well discussed, but after reading many, many forum posts I have not found an answer. I've tried JRE 1.3.1_03 as well as a completely different JRE, from Blackdown.
If I run java from /jre/bin, on Linux, how does java know where the /lib/ext directory is?
Do I have to have an environment setup, such as java_home or should it find it by relative paths?
What environment variables must be setup for the JRE to operate correctly on Linux(in this case Redhat 7.2)
I have an application and the vendor just says to put these jar's in ext and the JRE will find them. Unfortunately, the JRE does not find them. I just want to make sure my environment is setup correctly.
    Thanks,
    James

I'll assume the wording of your response was not meant to be arrogant. lib/etx IS relative and the jars are NOT being found. I'm trying to figure out why.
It looks as though java's bin directory is in your path. Did you have to set that up or did the install set it up for you?
Again, what environment variables on Linux should be setup for the JRE to work properly? Any?
If I run something from the jre/bin directory, like: ./java TestClass, should the runtime be able to find jar's in the jre/lib/ext directory just by relative paths?
    Thanks,
    James

  • Is there a restriction on loading "javax" classes from WEB-INF/lib?

I'm having trouble with a webapp in WL 10MP1 that is having trouble loading classes from the "jsr311-api-1.0.jar" in my WEB-INF/lib. Even though I have no trouble with it in Eclipse (no compile errors), classes from that jar fail with "NoClassDefFound" exceptions. I have a feeling it might be the fact that the packages in that jar start with "javax". Assuming that's the case, is there anything I can do to fix this?
What's even stranger is that the errors I get are when I try to load them directly from the Spring context. However, if I remove the test references to those classes, there's other code that loads those classes later in the application startup (after the Spring context finishes loading), and they load perfectly fine (I turned on verbose class loading to verify this).

Note that I've tried two other strategies that both result in the same failed state.
I tried putting the "jsr311-api-1.0.jar" in $JDK_HOME/jre/lib/ext, but that causes a failure to find Spring classes. I then copied the "spring.jar" into $DOMAIN_HOME/lib, and then it fails to find CXF classes. After doing the same with "cxf-2.2.3.jar", it then fails to find "javax.servlet.ServletContextListener", which clearly tells me there's no benefit to this approach.
Similarly, I tried copying the jars into $DOMAIN_HOME/lib, and that fails to find "org.apache.commons.logging.LogFactory". I could continue down this path, but it doesn't seem likely to succeed. Eventually, I'll get to a point where it just can't find the classes specific to my application, which I certainly can't copy into $DOMAIN_HOME/lib.
The first basic problem is that I can't put anything into a higher-level classloader that will eventually reference classes in a lower-level classloader, because references can only go up the chain, and the second problem is that WebLogic appears to ignore classes in WEB-INF/lib in the "javax.*" packages. I think there might be an exception for "javax.xml.*", but not for other subpackages. I tried adding a "prefer-application-packages" clause to my weblogic-application.xml file, but that had no effect.

  • I have been getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ZeroApplet.class and java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaToJS.class crashes with JRE version 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425 VM executing a Java Applet. Is Apple aware of this problem? No longer supported?

My web page uses a Java Applet to allow my visitors to replay chess games; the Chess Viewer Deluxe applet was written by Nikolai Pilafov some time ago and has been working properly for some time (until recently). I don't monitor this part of my site regularly so I am not sure when it began to fail. On his web site [http://chesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/11/chess-viewer-deluxe.html] he has a link to check LiveConnect object functionality (which fails for OBJECT tags). His recommendation is to "seek platform specific support which might be available from the JRE developers for your platform".

Until I checked the LiveConnect object functionality, I was unable to identify the source of the console error messages. This does seem to be the smoking gun.

I tried this with the jar file but it does not work and using "-cp TestApplication.jar tst/Benchmark" didn't work either.
Inside the jar file I have the META-INF Folder and a "tst" Folder which contains all my class files. And I've set tst.Benchmark as the main class, this also stands in the manifest file correctly.
Do you have any ideas what could be wrong?

Most of you are mistakeing his questions. If the compiler could not find the class files it wouldn't compile. Since he said he get's the error when:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Client
Tells me that he wrote a program called Client and the interpeter can't find his compiled class file..
Because the class path variable isn't set to present directory (the piriod) I had this same problem the first time I installed java.. It drove me nuts. I spent 2 months programming out of the bin directory before I found the classpath statment.. hehe (hey we were all beginners once)

Try using a SQL synonym in your company database for the views outside the company database. I don't know if SBO will let you get away with it, but its worth a shot.
If your company database is MyCompany and you have a view called MyView in Views database, assuming the view belongs to schema dbo, and you want the synonym to belong to dbo schema in your company database, run this:
    Use MyCompany
    go
    create synonym dbo.OutsiderView for
    Views.dbo.MyView
    go
    select * from OutsiderView
The select statement should return the contents of MyView in the Views database while you are connected to your MyCompany database.
For more info, see the Books Online for MSSQL on topic synonym.
You will need to change your CR options to include displaying synonyms along with tables, views, etc. You may also need to grant select to B1 users.

  • Simple class runs 3x slower inside 8i than outside...why?

Id like to follow up with some questions:
1.)     Oracle documentation states that PL/SQL is the preferred tool for data intensive jobs. And Java Stored Procedures are preferred for more algorithmic jobs. This seems contrary to what you state. Can you clearify?
2.)     When you say gen. purpose and cpu bound Java code, do you mean algorithmic code?
3.)     I assume the points 1 and 2 in your response suggest that it takes so long to get the Java environment up and running that it is killing the performance of my simple algorithm...is that what you mean?
4.)     My real goal is to use intelligent agents (use AI algorithms that are very expensive computationally) and are invoked upon updates and continually train on newly inserted data. The fact these guys can live in the Oracle JVM, be invoked upon an update using a trigger and call an EJB client in warning of a particular condition is what made me fall in love with this solution that Oracle provides. But do you think I am asking too much or Im going a bit beyond what the JVM is for?
