There is a ClassDefNotFound Exception, this means that a class used (probably by the corba marshalling stuff) cannot be located. You'll need to add these classes to the client's CLASSPATH.
Usually a client-jar file can be created or is provided by the j2ee server. If you're using the sun-wapp-server then it is done this way:
- deploy the beans to the server (asadmin deploy)
- create the client-stubs (asadmin client-stubs)
- add the created client-stubs to the clients class path.
I don't remember the exact commands for asadmin. Plz check the help. (asadmin help)
In JBOss youll have to add jboss-all.jar to the client's classpath. It depends on the j2ee server you use.

Trouble running a simple session bean
I am trying to run a simple stateless session bean given in the book Head First EJB. For this purpose, I am using j2sdkee1.3 and j2sdk1.4.2_08. I successfully started the j2ee server and managed to deploy the bean. But when I try to run the client, I get the following cryptic error:

Help: Problem in running a simple EJB client
Hi All,
I have just started learning EJB and I am facing an issue in running a client for the EJB I developed (a "Hello World" EJB)
I have deployed my application in Sun's reference implementation of j2ee server. I have the following client code through which I intend to access EJB methods
// EJB client code in main()
Context ctx = new InitialContext();
Object hwobj = ctx.lookup("HelloWorldApp");
HelloWorldHome hworldHome = (HelloWorldHome)
PortableRemoteObject.narrow(hwobj,HelloWorldHome.class); // exception here
HelloWorld hworld = hworldHome.create();
String msg = hworld.sayHelloWorld();
System.out.println(msg);
When I am running my client I am getting the following exception. Can anyone tell me why ?
java.lang.ClassCastException
at com.sun.corba.se.internal.javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(PortableRemoteObject.java:296)
at javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(PortableRemoteObject.java:137)
at HelloWorldClient.main(HelloWorldClient.java:13)
Thanks
Ratheesh* I found the solution for this . Add j2ee.jar and Client jar returned by deploytool [ if we check return client jar ] to classpath when running client .
* Then I got CORBA_NO_PERMISSION error . After searching in forum , I found the solution. Posting

[ J2EE RI Server ] CORBA NO_PERMISSION 0
Author: NicholasHsiao Oct 28, 2001 5:51 AM
Hi,
I was trying to deploy one simple session bean into J2EE RI Server. It works fine. And I wrote one client to access this session bean, it show me
java.rmi.AccessException: CORBA NO_PERMISSION 0 No; nested exception is:
org.omg.CORBA.NO_PERMISSION: minor code: 0 completed: No
Context ic = null;
try
ic = new InitialContext();
catch(Exception e)
System.out.println("1: "+e.toString());
This exception is happend when I try to lookup the jndi name
This error message is happend only on J2EE 1.3 (1.3_01) . If I downgrade to J2EE 1.3Beta or even 1.2, everything would be okay. Any one know how to solve such problem ??

For at svare p mit eget sprgsml: Access and Security Issues Q1: Some applications that ran under J2EE SDK 1.3
beta 2 stop running under the 1.3 FCS release with the
following message: java.rmi.AccessException: CORBA
NO_PERMISSION 0 No. Why does this happen and what
can be done about it? When your application ran under the 1.3 beta 2
version of the reference implementation (RI), security permissions may
not have
been checked. For example, the beta 2 RI allowed
calls to enterprise beans that required username-password permission,
even
when the client provided no username-password
information. With 1.3 FCS release, the J2EE SDK became strict
about checking adherence to the security policies of J2EE components. How can you make your application run under the
FCS release? 1.If you don't want security checks, do the
following: Use the deploytool to build a deployment
descriptor that does not require a strict security policy: Under the Security screen of the EJB wizard
or the Security tab of the EJB inspector in deploytool, click
"Deployment
Settings..". Under the box "Client
Authentication", make sure "Support Client Choice" is checked instead of
"Certificate"
or "Password". 2.To require the application pass security
checks to run, do the following: When an enterprise bean specifies
"Certificate" or "Password" as the method of Client Authentication, use
a J2EE
application client, instead of a stand-alone
Java application, to access the bean. You will need to login as a valid
J2EE
user.

Problem while invoking a Stateless Session bean from another bean
Hi,
I have a peculiar problem while coding with Stateless Session beans. Maybe you guys can help me out over here. The scenario is as follows
There are 3 Stateless Session beans. Let Us say Bean A, B and C. There are three methods, method1, method2, and method3 inside A, B and C respectively.
From A.method1(), B.method2(), and C.method3() are being invoked sequentially. Each of these methods does some JDBC operation and then returns.
The problem is this, if C.method3() throws and exception, then I am unable to rollback the changes made by B.method2(). Those changes get "Committed" to the database.
All the 3 beans have Bean managed persistence property set. I am using WebSphere 6.1.
Any insight on why this is happening would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks In Advance
Amardeep VermaHi,
This is a matter of calling all three methods in the same transaction context. Most easy way of doing this is having a 4th session bean containing a method calling the other 3. Make sure that the Transaction Attributes are REQUIRED, which is the default.
If the calls a to different backends/databases, you need global transactions and therefor XA complient database and drivers.

Problems with connection Servlet to Session Bean in O 8i
The problem Im having is that I get major error when trying to
access a EJB (Session Bean) in Oracle 8i from Servlet. The
servlet works properly when Im running it from another machine,
but when implementing it in OAS it won't work. What's the
problem? Im using the same lookup adress from both places, but
it simply won't work for me in OAS. IF someone could give me a
simple example that works I would be more than happy!
// Alex.
nullHi
Which version of OAS are you using ? Only OAS 4.0.8 has support
for Servelts.

Problem deploying more than one session beans(one is ok)
hi there,
im trying to deploy an ear that contains ejbs(entities and session). application goes ok if deploy it with any number of entities being called by a single session, i mean if there is only session bean in the ejb-jar.xml. it is deployed ok and works fine.
now when i try to add another session bean to the same ejb-jar.xml, it gives the following error during deployment.
The system is out of resources.
Consult the following stack trace for details.
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
that's all what it prints and aborts deployment. again, its important that it deploys any number of entity beans problem is with more than one sessions.
thanx for any suggestions,
amtWithout seeing more details I don't understand why you would be running out of memory. We test applications with multiple session beans and we don't have that issue so I'm not sure why you would. Out of memory could be a bug in the deployment descriptor or the ear file or the JVM or the container or the deployment mechanism or maybe something else. That is the tough part of memory issue debugging at deployment time.
I would try to see if increasing memory on both the JVM for OC4J and for admin.jar (assuming you are using standalone OC4J when you deploy) to see if maybe it is something transient that is causing this to occur. Something else you could try is to use 1.3.1 JDK and see if the problem goes away. Beyond that I would try to get the simplest case you could that repeats the error and then let's take a look at it.
As for the exception hierarchy you describe, I don't see any particular problem with it at first look. Are you getting an error?

francisHi Gauarv,
Did you not see my reply in the following post?
Re: 502 service temporarily unavailable
If I'm not mistaken, this is exactly the same question as you asked
there.
By the way, is there some reason you are still using OC4J version
1.0.2.2? Is there something stopping you from upgrading to the later
versions (9.0.2 and 9.0.3)?
Good Luck,

Problem with connecting from Netweaver Session Bean to SAP R/3
Hi,
i just want a connection to RFC in SAP R/3 and with help of sap ("Proxy generation" etc) and wizard in NWDS i get the rfc. Now i want to connect and use it (like in handbook) but: Every time i create and use jcoclient.connect() system gets an error like:
"Class File Editor
Source not found
The jar file jrfc.jar has no source attachment."
I have add all files that are used to "Used DCs" or bind library into projekt as "Third party library", but the error is still there.
Any idea? Do i have to make something else? Some failure made?
thx

Where can we download SAP NW7.0 (2004s) as Java Trial for testing? We only find ABAP Trial... Link? thxSo we tested some things that are described in the SDN or by SAP with Connectors.
We tested JCO version 2.0.12, 2.1.18 and 3.0 in J2EE Projects in netweaver and in Eclipse (Standalone).
For version 2.0.12 there is a failure that this version is not compatible with the other things in netweaver.
This version is for standalone and integrated sytems.
For version 2.1.18 is only described as standalone and so failure happened in netweaver that other classes are coruppted or missed. The internal test in "content administrator" (Ping and Test) do not work and had the same error.
For version 3.0 (that displace the other two versions) there is many to do in settings and coding that we do not have tested yet because project is not that small to write it for JCO 3.0 only for testing. When we only displaced files in netweaver the server do not start any more.
So:
Is there a way to call R/3 from session bean and 1. create an JCO client or 2. add a client to the "standard" pool of netweaver to use it?
Any ideas? help? links?
Project have to be complete in september...
Our combi is SAP Netweaver 2004 SP21 on Windows XP SP2 / Server 2003 Standard SP1 with JVM 1.4.2_16... need of any more info?

Rajeev SarawatHi cliff,
Worked as per ur Suggestion , the .tld file had
<!DOCTYPE taglib tag, I removed it, it is still not working , I m using tomcat 3.2
I tried to run the simpletag example given with Tomcat it runs, but when I copied that example to my webapps/TagViews direcotry and corrected the package and made necessary changes in web.xml kept in
WEB-INF direcotry , it gives the same error,
Is there any requirement to make a war file for taglib to run or some thing like that, or is there any other requirement after making
1) The .class file kept in install_dir/webapps/TagViews/WEB-INF/classes/Tagbeans
2) The .tld file kept in

3) Made cahnges in web.xml kept in
install_dir/webapps/TagViews/WEB-INF/
4) Made the jsp file kept in

After doing this I restarted the tomcat server and then tried http://localhost:8080/TagViews/jsp/myTag.jsp -

Hi,
It depends upon your client program. You can use a java rmi based client or a web application. The good kick start to the problem would be to have a look into the java pet store example and converter example which is using RMI port for client access as well as web based access. Please review the examples shipped along with iAS and I'm sure that you will have a good idea on going about the coding.

A simple problem with sateful Session beans
Hi,
I have a really novice problem with stateful session bean in Java EE 5.
I have written a simple session bean which has a counter inside it and every time a client call this bean it must increment the count value and return it back.
I have also created a simple servlet to call this session bean.
Everything seemed fine I opened a firefox window and tried to load the page, the counter incremented from 1 to 3 for the 3 times that I reloaded the page then I opened an IE window (which I think is actually a new client) but the page counter started from 4 not 1 for the new client and it means that the new client has access to the old client session bean.
Am I missing anything here???
Isnt it the way that a stateful session bean must react?
This is my stateful session bean source.
package test;
import javax.ejb.Stateful;
@Stateful
public class SecondSessionBean implements SecondSessionRemote
private int cnt;
/** Creates a new instance of SecondSessionBean */
public SecondSessionBean ()
cnt=1;
public int getCnt()
return cnt++;
And this is my simple client site servlet
package rezaServlets;
import java.io.*;
import java.net.*;
import javax.ejb.EJB;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
import test.SecondSessionRemote;
public class main extends HttpServlet
@EJB
private SecondSessionRemote secondSessionBean;
protected void processRequest (HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException
response.setContentType ("text/html;charset=UTF-8");
PrintWriter out = response.getWriter ();
out.println("<html>");
out.println("<head>");
out.println("<title>Servlet main</title>");
out.println("</head>");
out.println("<body>");
out.println("<h1>Our count is " + Integer.toString (secondSessionBean.getCnt ()) + "</h1>");
out.println("</body>");
out.println("</html>");
out.close ();
protected void doGet (HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException
processRequest (request, response);
protected void doPost (HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException
processRequest (request, response);
}You are injecting a reference to a stateful session bean to an instance variable in the servlet. This bean instance is shared by all servlet request, and that's why you are seeing this odd behavior.
You can use type-leve injection for the stateful bean, and then lookup the bean inside your request-processing method. You may also save this bean ref in HttpSession.
@EJB(name="ejb/foo", beanName="SecondBean", beanInterface="com.foo.foo.SecondBeanRemote")
public MyServlet extends HttpServlet {
ic.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/foo");
}
