Problem in running Managed Servers

Hi,
I used the configuration wizard and tried creating a domain ( admin server , 2 managed servers ('new_Server_1' , 'new_Server_2' )) . Admin server listens to the port 7003.
Set up details :
Managed Servers - IP's - Port
new_Server_1 - 1.1.1.10 - 7011
new_Server_2 - 1.1.1.11 - 7011
Node Manager - 1.1.1.10 - 5555
I login into the admin console after the whole set up, node manager was running , admin server wa s running and tried starting the managed servers ,But they failed to start giving the error message -

Is this due to the WLI Start up classes set to both admin and managed servers caused this problem / jars missed out while creating a domain ,, ? any pointers to solve this issue.
thank you in advance.

Hi,
<font color=red>OPTION-A)</font>
If you are able to start the Managed Server using ...the Start Scripts then it means that the Missing class gets included in the Server Classpath ....when we use StartScripts to Start the Server.
If above one works fine...then Just try the following..
Step1). Open the "nodemanager.properties" file and then "startScriptEnabled=true" and "startScriptName=startWebLogic.cmd" ....provide these two entries there....remember if you are using any custom scripts to start your managed server ...then give that scriptname in "startScriptName" parameter..
Step2). restart the Node Manager and then try to start the Managed Server from Admin Console.
for more informations Please refer to "nodemanager.properties" details:
http://download-llnw.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/nodemgr/java_nodemgr.html#wp1068415
<font color=red>OPTION-B)</font>
Start the ManagedServer using the StartScripts and then open the server OUT file....
Find the value of CLASSPATH in that OUT File ...copy the CLASSPATH Value and then Login to Admin Console....
Servers--->Click on ServerName (Example MS1)---> configuration Page ---> ServerStart (TAB)
In this page Paste the CLASSPATH Value which u have copied....in the CLASSPATH Test Field...
Now restart your Server using AdminConsole.
Thanks

  • Problem with discovering Managed Servers

    Hi,
I got problem with discovering managed servers, when I restart only administration
server while managed servers are running. During restart of admin server everything
seems to be ok (the directive: Starting discovery of managed server... appears
    on the screen).
However when I start admin console through http, I cannot monitor performance,
browse logs etc. I can only shutdown managed server and I can see in a server
tag that particular managed servers are running.
I'm looking forward for any clues

    Sorry,
i cannot stop those managed server - in Control tab I have active only option
to start those server but they are running. In logging tab when I want to browse
the log the message that probably this server is not running appear. However in
the tab when all servers are listened there is a message that they are running

  • Running managed servers from different WL versions under a domain

    Hi,
Would it be possible to run managed servers (in non clustered way) from different versions of WebLogic under a single domain, with admin server of higher WebLogic version controlling the domain and the managed servers?
    Regards,
    Gobi

    Hi Gobi,
we can make it run such a way but it may lead to many complication with patch sets.
Few thing work in one environment and other will not so it is not at all recommended way to set such configuration.
    Regards,

    Hello,
There is a lot of stuff on this thread:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=567363&messageID=2801617
these guys are trying to run weblogic with JBuilder.
Looks like your classpath is incorrect, can you go to your admin console-->server-->remote start
copy the classpath and post it here.
Check for spaces in your classpath, missing jars or directories and miss spelt paths.
Has this problem been occuring as soon as you installed WLP or not?
    Cheers,

  • Error : Running Managed Servers in a cluster

    Hi,
I tried creating a new domain from my local pc - by using the configuration wizard provided by weblogic.. the configuration used is like this -
    Admin Server - adminServer - 1.1.1.19 - on port 7001
    Managed servers - machines:ip's - port
    1. mgndServer1 - 1.1.1.19 - 7011
    2. mgndServer2 - 1.1.1.20 - 7011
    mgndCluster defined as - mgndServer1:7011, mgndServer2:7011
    node manager ; - 1.1.1.19 - 5555
In the last step i didnt check ( select box ) the WLI Start up , WLI Shutdown classes for the managed cluster , but Set the WLI Start up , shut down classes for admin server.
Started the admin server and from the admin console, state of the node manager was running , I tried starting the managed servers, but it failed with the below error - and managed servers never come into running state..

    Hi,
    <font color=red>OPTION-A)</font>
    Thanks

    Hello!
    The problem is found.
We tried to startup managed server by running startManagedServer.sh script, but this script expecting to get parameters.
The NodeManager unable to send parameters to script that appears in nodemanager.properties file (StartScriptName).
So, I created a new script startPIA.sh, that calls to startManagedServer.sh and sends it 2 parameters:
    ./startManagedWebLogic.sh $SERVER_NAME $ADMIN_URL
Now, we can start and stop managed servers from admin console, BUT we still have an error in NodeManager:

  • Managed servers dies regularly

    Hello,
we have two managed servers on two different machines (not
running in a cluster) and both of them die regularly, i.e.
they simply stop. There is nothing in the log files at all
that hints at any problems. Both managed servers are started
via node manager. The admin servers on both machines work fine.
We use WLServer 6.1 sp1 running under Win NT 4. Any ideas?
    Cheers

    Hello Kumar,
that's actually a very good question. Does every managed server
    run in its own process?Yes.
I will have to investigate this. All I
can say at the moment is that the web console shows the server
as not running. There's a known issue in 61 sp2 that admin console loosing the discovery
of managed servers under load. May be this is what you are seeing.
Then I start it again, and it runs fine... for aRegardless i want you to check the process id of that managed server and
see if it exists or not...
    Kumar
    while.
    Cheers

  • Creating new Managed Servers on remote machines

    Hi,
We have a multi-machine domain already in place. Nodemanager is configured and we're using the architecture suggested in Oracle SOA Enterprise Deployment Guide, where we have one domain home for the AdminServer and one domain home for the Managed servers. Right now what we need to know is how to add new managed servers in the easiest and fastest way possible on the mserver home on both the adminserver local machine and on the remote machine, this is a development environment and we need to be able to quickly create and delete these servers for developers to work.
We know that the standard way of doing it is doing a pack (for the managed servers only), and then an unpack on the mserver home both on local and remote machine after changing the root directory of these servers to match those homes. Here is were we have our first doubts. Do the unpack command command has to be run with the already running servers down? Does this pack and unpack process affects what we already have deployed on the running managed servers? And last but not least, is there any way to automate this process? Because we need to give the developers the ability to create clusters on the environment through the admin server console, but without giving them access to the underlying operating system.
If this seems like a newbie question is because we are, we're just in the process of migrating oas 10g to weblogic 11g and there are tons of basic administration stuff that seem pretty strange for us, we've looked through the Oracle manuals and metalink but even though some show you how to create the domain with remote managed servers for the first time, we couldn't find any mention on how to add the mserver efficiently after that.
    Thanks!

    Cris,
Thanks again for your help, we're trying to figure out how to present this procedure to our customer, just one thought though, we were thinking about moving away from the architecture presented by de SOA Enterprise Deployment guide, and using a single domain home located on the shared storage, that way we could create the managed servers from the admin console without having to use pack/unpack and deciding where to run the servers just by configuring machines and nodemanager. However, we haven't seen this kind of configuration anywhere on Oracle manuals, is there any other problem you are aware of in this idea? We're using a storage with multipath for the shared disk so we're not very concerned about availability (and if the storage went down the weblogic domain would be the least of our problems).
    Regards, Franco.

  • Problem Starting Managed Servers

    Hi,
I am trying to start Managed Server on Sun Solaris. My admin Server and managed Server
    are on the same Machine.
My admin Server starts up with out any problem. WhenI try to bring up my Managed
Server its not reading the command line arguments which I supplied through the Console:
Servers -> serverName -> Remote Start->Arguments. For some reason these command arguments
are not read and so I am having errors like Unable to load libraries, etc.
Also when I saw the log file for managed server the class path and the arguments
are printed in a different way than I have set. I dont know if thats a problem or
not. I am copying part of that for your reference.
    classpath=/opt/j2sdk1_3_1_01/jre/lib/rt.jar\:/opt/weblogic6.1\:/opt/weblogic6.1/lib/weblogic_sp.jar\:/opt/weblogic6.1/lib/weblogic.jar\
    serverStartArgs=-Dweblogic.management.server\=sunserver\:7210 -Djava.security.policy\=\=/opt/weblogic6.1/lib/weblogic.policy
I have checked the config.xml file and what ever I have set in the console is being
saved properly in the xml file.
Can any one know why the back slash is printed above even though I havent typed that
in the console. Has any one have experince with setting the command line arguments
and class path through console for Managed servers.
I am stuck up at this point. Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kiran

Seems a method signature does not match with the implementation in the
library either due to namemangling or incompatible versions of libraries.
You are loading your own custom native libraries for security.
Best would be use the default startManagedServer -- once the server has
started, copy and paste the entire value of java.library.path into the
    startup arguments for Remote start.
For instance in my server log file:
    ####<Apr 10, 2002 6:47:10 PM PDT> <Info> <Management> <mountview> <myserver>
    <main> <system> <> <141034> <Java system property: java.library.path =
    /home/sabha/600sp2only/jdk130/jre/bin/../lib/sparc/hotspot:/home/sabha/600sp
    2only/jdk130/jre/bin/../lib/sparc::/home/sabha/600sp2only/wlserver6.0/lib/so
    laris:/home/sabha/600sp2only/wlserver6.0/lib/solaris/oci816_8:/usr/lib>
I would set that as the arguments :
    -Djava.library.path=/home/sabha/600sp2only/jdk130/jre/lib/sparc/hotspot:/hom
    e/sabha/600sp2only/jdk130/jre/bin/../lib/sparc::/home/sabha/600sp2only/wlser
    ver6.0/lib/solaris:/home/sabha/600sp2only/wlserver6.0/lib/solaris/oci816_8:/
    usr/lib
If this does not work, then java for some reason is not taking library paths
set as java.library.path and I dont know how to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH as part
of arguments to java. Another thing is before starting the NodeManager, set
the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to point the library directories and see if this helps.

    Sabha,
    The main problem is:
What ever I am trying to give in the command line arguments through theConsole:
    Servers -> serverName -> Remote Start->Arguments.
is not being read during managed server start up.
I have all the libraries defined defined in java.lib.path. I dont knowwhy
    its not
being read by managed server during start up. Am I missing something.

If its unable to load the performance packs, try setting

can just copy what is in the admin weblogic.log file for the
java.library.path (make sure the paths are correct and applicable forthe

    Hi,
I am trying to start Managed Server on Sun Solaris. My admin Server
    and
    managed Server
    are on the same Machine.
My admin Server starts up with out any problem. WhenI try to bring
    up
    my
    Managed
Server its not reading the command line arguments which I supplied
    through
    the Console:
Servers -> serverName -> Remote Start->Arguments. For some reason
    these
    command arguments
are not read and so I am having errors like Unable to load
    libraries,
    etc.
Also when I saw the log file for managed server the class path and
    the
    arguments
are printed in a different way than I have set. I dont know if thats
    a
    problem or
not. I am copying part of that for your reference.
    classpath=/opt/j2sdk1_3_1_01/jre/lib/rt.jar\:/opt/weblogic6.1\:/opt/weblog
    i
    c
    6.1/lib/weblogic_sp.jar\:/opt/weblogic6.1/lib/weblogic.jar\
    serverStartArgs=-Dweblogic.management.server\=sunserver\:7210 -Djava.secur
    i
    t
    y.policy\=\=/opt/weblogic6.1/lib/weblogic.policy
I have checked the config.xml file and what ever I have set in the
    console
    is being
saved properly in the xml file.
Can any one know why the back slash is printed above even though I
    havent
    typed that
in the console. Has any one have experince with setting the command
    line
    arguments
and class path through console for Managed servers.
I am stuck up at this point. Any help in this regard will be greatlyappreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kiran

  • Two Managed Servers non-clustered problem

I have two managed servers each exactly the same just listening on different
port in the same domain. When I start the second server I get a "Child
exited " message reported in the first server's logs. This does not seem to
affect the running of the server. Does anyone know why this happens. Note
that both servers define the same jndi name for a stateless session bean.

Solaris 8. There is no information in any log relating to the message "Child
Exited". Note that sometimes the message appears twice.

  • Problems with deploying file to one of the managed servers on a cluster

    We are running Weblogic 10.3.
When I start both managed servers from the Admin Console, one fails with the error below and in Admin state, but the other managed server starts up correctly.
The only difference from when it was first working is that the managed server ServerBox1 was imaged and loaded onto new hardware and all network/os properties configured the same as the old box.

Hi Partha. Did you get a solution to your problem with high connection delay times on your server? I'm having a similar problem and saw your post.
    Thanks,

  • XI 3.0 Installation Problem: no central managment server running

Hi, I am totally new to BO our company just purchased the application and I have installed XI 3.0 on one of our server. I have setup the DB and the installation finished successfully. However I can't find CMS anywhere on the server. It seems like all the other XI 3.0 components are there Business view manager, central configuration manager, etc. they are all in the program list.
The only thing I didn't install is Tomcat. In Central configuration Manager ther Server Intelligence Agent is running. When I try to connect to the server in Business view Manager I receive the following error "The system servername cannot be contacted, but there is no Central Managment Server running at port 6400."
During the installation for "Web Application Server" part I checked the "other" option since I want to use IIS. I have a feeling I need to do some type of post configuration for IIS? Where do I perform this?
    Our setup is:
Window Server 2003 SP2 with all the latest window updates
The latest XI 3.0 (I downloaded it from the product page)
    My questions are:
    1. Does XI work with IIS at  all?
    2. Do I need to install Tomcat and run some kind of connector to have IIS work?
    3. What am I missing for my XI 3.0 it seem the core component is missing (CS)?

Moved from Xcelsius forum to BOE Administration

    Hi Allan,
In answer to your questions - XI 3.0 does not have an IIS interface right now.  You will need to install a java application components in order to access the end user interface for viewing reports (InfoView), the report viewers, the web services and SDKs and the management console (CMC).  The easiest way to do this is to choose the default Tomcat components in the installation and work from there.
If you left everything else as default, then you will have all the necessary application components installed to get the system up and running.  It may just be that your CMS has not started for some reason.  Try stopping and restarting the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) in the Central Config Manager (CCM) - found in the Start/Programs/Business Objects group.
Once started, try clicking on the "Manage Servers" icon of the CCM (the one with a server and a check mark on it).  This should allow you connect to the system and see which servers have started.  IF you cannot connect, the next step would be to check the windows Event Log.  See if the CMS service started OK.  If it didn't the log should provide you with more information, which you can post here for further assistance.
If it did, and you still cannot connect, you may need to review your network firewall settings and/or your DEP status (see the properties panel for My Computer, choose the Advanced tab, select the Performance settings button, then the Data Execution Prevention tab).
    Happy hunting.
    Derek.

  • Run Admin Server with multiple Managed Servers each using different userid?

We currently run separate WebLogic domain instances for each business application in a Unix environment. Each one is created using a unix userid unique to that application and which owns all the files and is used to run the process when that particular WebLogic instance is started up. We have run this way for a while.
I am considering altering our approach to the one that is recommended, i.e. in our Production environment we would run a single Admin instance with numerous managed servers. One issue I'm stuck on is the fact that in our current environment, each application has a different unix userid that owns the files making up the WebLogic domain instance and that WebLogic instance is run under that userid.
I've investigated and experimented using WebLogic 10.3 preview and WebLogic 10.0, but I haven't been able to determine what I have to do to make each managed server's files and processes belong to a different unix userid, if that is even possible.
Is there a way, using the recommended approach, where there is a single Admin instance that has multiple managed servers whose files and processes are owned by different unique, unix userids?
If not, how would you separate access to each of the Managed Servers so that the programmers who maintain them don't have access to Managed Servers that they are not responsible for?
Thanks for any help or suggestions.....

    Hi:
I played with this stuff and I found that this will work, without the Location elements:
    <IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
    MatchExpression /app1 WebLogicHost=server1|WebLogicPort=7003
    MatchExpression /app2 WebLogicHost=server2|WebLogicPort=7003
    </IfModule>
Also this will work too, with no entries inside the IfModule element:
    <Location /app1 >
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicHost server1
    WebLogicPort 7003
    </Location>
    <Location /app2 >
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicHost server2
    WebLogicPort 7003
    </Location>

  • Singleton deployed in cluster runs in both managed servers

    Hi,
I have deployed a singleton service in a Weblogic (9.2) cluster. This cluster has two managed servers.
Recently we saw instances of this singleton services running on both these managed servers, which resulted in a lot of duplicate data in our system.
Is this a bug in the system? How can we prevent this?

    Hi,
Could you please refer the following links and confirm me if you had defined and configured the singleton service as mentioned in the links:
