Problem in starting server instances in Cluster using nodeagent

Hi,
I have a cluster which is having 2 servers and in that one server is under nodeagent1(on the same host) and another is on nodeagent2 which is on an another host.
When I start the Cluster instances the server in the nodeagent1 is getting started. But the server on the nodeagent2(which is on the other host) is not getting started.
Always it says
"Operation 'start' failed in 'server' Config Mbean. Target exception message: NAGT0023:The node agent could not start instance testserver. It is starting and must be stopped."
If you wait for considerable amount of time and try to start it gives the same error. It looks like some process or something is running and depending on that it says the particular message.
In the domain server.log also it has the same information. There is nothing comes in the server specific log.
This seems to be an issue.
Is anybody observed this issue. Is there any workaround for this?
I am using Sun java Enterprise System 8.1 2005q4 version.
Sebas

It seems you created your second NodeAgent when the first Nodeagent is not running.
Remember, the AS8 uses several ports other ports like jms,iiop. for the first one it takes the default port numbers and if those are free when you create second, it uses them again.
So check the port numbers that are in use for agent1 and agent2 from the domain.xml and change them, if they are same.

  • Unable to Start server instances created

    Hello Friends,
    I'm kind of newbie with in this area.
    However,i hope i might get a direction to resolve my issues.
    We have a server(Sun Java System Application Server 7 2004Q2UR4) where we have created few instances for deploying our applications on Solaris v9.0 SPARC environment.
    We have confirgured it in the right way and it was working quite long time.
    However,we had a problem with change of timezone earlier and as per the request we have changed /etc/TIMEZONE file and rebooted our server physically.
    now soon after we intially had few space problems and none of the instances were starting in first place.we resolved it by increasing it and made sure that our admin-server instance is starting.
    However,when we are trying to start other instances our JMS is not Accepting any connections what so ever.
    and this what we are encountering.
    # ./startserv
    couldn't set locale correctly

    Hi Rahul,
    Remove the /path/AS7/imq/var/instances/domain_instance-name/lock file and try restarting. This file will have the JMS port information. If U remove the lock file and then try starting the instance.
    Thanks,

    WARNING: CORE3283: stderr: X connection to localhost:10.0 broken (explicit kill
    or server shutdown).
    Why would we get this from a command prompt and why would it prevent the server from starting??

    On what OS is this happenning?

  • Problems to start SAP instance after reboot

    Hello experts,
    we are occuring a problem that we are not able to start our SAP instance after we applied some MS patches and rebooted the server. We also deinstalled these patches buzt this also did not help, so I guess the reason somewhere else.
    We are running a SQL server 2000 on a Windows 2003 SP2 (32bit)
    SAP kernel is 640 PL 304
    The SQL server seems to operate normally, however when we try to start SAP via MMC the process disp+work fails (it's green for a few seconds, but then turn so grey).
    In dev_w0 I can find this entry
    C Mon Feb 22 12:35:18 2010

    C  Using provider SQLOLEDB instead.
    I hope you have an idea to solve the issue soon.
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
    yes I read this SAP note however when I try to install this patch
    It fails with message "installation unsuccessful"
    Reason ??
    Check the following:
    1. Status of SQLServer Service(s)?
    2. Windows Event Log Entries?
    What is the SP level of SQL Server 2000 ?
    Also, Perform the Connectivity Test as per[ this link|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827422/].

  • Problems Reading SSL  server socket  data stream using readByte()

    Hi I'm trying to read an SSL server socket stream using readByte(). I need to use readByte() because my program acts an LDAP proxy (receives LDAP messages from an LDAP client then passes them onto an actual LDAP server. It works fine with normal LDAP data streams but once an SSL data stream is introduced, readByte just hangs! Here is my code.....
    help!!! anyone?... anyone?
    1. SSL Socket is first read into  " InputStream input"
    public void     run()
              Authorization     auth = new Authorization();
              try     {
                   InputStream     input     =     client.getInputStream();
                   while     (true)
                   {     StandLdapCommand command;
                        try
                             command = new StandLdapCommand(input);
                             Authorization     t = command.get_auth();
                             if (t != null )
                                  auth = t;
                        catch( SocketException e )
                        {     // If socket error, drop the connection
                             Message.Info( "Client connection closed: " + e );
                             close( e );
                             break;
                        catch( EOFException e )
                        {     // If socket error, drop the connection
                             Message.Info( "Client connection close: " + e );
                             close( e );
                             break;
                        catch( Exception e )
                             //Way too many of these to trace them!
                             Message.Error( "Command not processed due to exception");
                             close( e );
                                            break;
                                            //continue;
                        processor.processBefore(auth,     command);
                                    try
                                      Thread.sleep(40); //yield to other threads
                                    catch(InterruptedException ie) {}
              catch     (Exception e)
                   close(e);
    2 Then data is sent to an intermediate function
    from this statement in the function above:   command = new StandLdapCommand(input);
         public StandLdapCommand(InputStream     in)     throws IOException
              message     =     LDAPMessage.receive(in);
              analyze();
    Then finally, the read function where it hangs at  "int tag = (int)din.readByte(); "
    public static LDAPMessage receive(InputStream is) throws IOException
        *  LDAP Message Format =
        *      1.  LBER_SEQUENCE                           --  1 byte
        *      2.  Length                                  --  variable length     = 3 + 4 + 5 ....
        *      3.  ID                                      --  variable length
        *      4.  LDAP_REQ_msg                            --  1 byte
        *      5.  Message specific structure              --  variable length
        DataInputStream din = new DataInputStream(is);
        int tag = public static LDAPMessage receive(InputStream is) throws IOException
        *  LDAP Message Format =
        *      1.  LBER_SEQUENCE                           --  1 byte
        *      2.  Length                                  --  variable length     = 3 + 4 + 5 ....
        *      3.  ID                                      --  variable length
        *      4.  LDAP_REQ_msg                            --  1 byte
        *      5.  Message specific structure              --  variable length
        DataInputStream din = new DataInputStream(is);
           int tag = (int)din.readByte();      // sequence tag// sequence tag
        ...

    I suspect you are actually getting an Exception and not tracing the cause properly and then doing a sleep and then getting another Exception. Never ever catch an exception without tracing what it actually is somewhere.
    Also I don't know what the sleep is supposed to be for. You will block in readByte() until something comes in, and that should be enough yielding for anybody. The sleep is just literally a waste of time.

  • App Server 8.1 cluster not all members starting up.

    Hi,
    Solaris 10.
    Two instances of app servers, each in a separate zone, on same machine.
    App servers were just configured with the configure-ha-cluster command to operate in HA mode.
    When restarting the cluster with two members, only one of them comes up:
    ./asadmin start-cluster --user admin --passwordfile domain1.pwd idm-cluster
    Not all server instances in cluster idm-cluster were successfully started.
    Failed to retrieve RMIServer stub: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: management/rmi-jmx-connector
    Command start-cluster executed successfully.Funnily enough, it's the instance on the local machine that will not start up. I had a similar problem earlier where creating a hadb domain could not contact the local hadb instance...
    The node-agent is running though, but the instance will not start up.
    ./asadmin list-clusters --user admin --passwordfile domain1.pwd
    idm-cluster partially running
    Command list-clusters executed successfully.
    ./asadmin list-node-agents --user admin --passwordfile domain1.pwd
    idm1 running
    idm2 running
    Command list-node-agents executed successfully.
    ./asadmin start-instance --user admin --passwordfile domain1.pwd idm1-instance
    Operation 'startServerInstance' failed in 'servers' Config Mbean.
    Target exception message: Failed to retrieve RMIServer stub: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: management/rmi-jmx-connector
    CLI137 Command start-instance failed.Any pointers or ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hmmm. I seem to be having the same problem.
    Both node agents are running fine, but the DAS is unable to talk to the cluster.
    Exactly the same error occurs.
    Doesn't seem particularly robust software, imho. Happened several times.

  • How to start new instance of Application server 6.0 sp3 on Solaris

    Hi!
    I am a new user of iPlanet Application server (ver. 6.0 sp3) for Solaris and I have problems with starting new instance of App. Server. Directory server and administration server are started during installation but application server isn't started. I've used Application Server Command Line Utilities to start server but I've got message "you must register
    the server instance via the application server admin tool". I've tried to do that but I don't know how. I've searched documentation and I haven't found what I'm looking for.I would like to know where can I find instructions for starting App. server?

    Hello,
    Start your "ksvradmin" from $IASHOME/bin/ksvradmin tool - a GUI tool and under file menu register the server instance by supplying port on which the server is running.. it is intuitive..
    Thanks

  • Not able to start Jva Instance in Dual Stack System

    Hi All,
    We are facing problem while starting Java instance in dual stack system.Wile trying to coonect trough configtool,it is showing error message:
    Ora-01017:logon denied/
    We have updated password of sapr3 and sapsr3db through brtools,checked the password by trying to connect to database through SQL prompt via user sapr3 and sapsr3db.It comes ok.
    But when i am trying to connect to configtool and enter the crdentials through Direct Lgin instead of Secure Store then configtool opens but secure store does not gets loaded.
    Please tell me way to update new database user /password in configtool and hence in starting Java Patches.
    Thanks in advance as we are facing this issue in systemon whcih we need to apply the patches tomorrow.

    Hi Sven,
    That's correct i need to login through option No(not default settings i.e. Thorugh Direct Login) as via default settings it shows error in connection to DB.But after selcting No i.e.Direct Login and entering the required info i.e RDBMS URL,RDBMS User,RDBMS user's password it gets connected to DB but option of secure store does not come.So i guess there needs to update the password of SAPSR3DB somewhere in configtoll but w/t secure store how it can be done?
    Also following files are present at path /usr/sap/SRD/SYS/global/security/data;
    SecStore.1.key
    SecStore.1.properties
    SecStore.key
    SecStore.properties
    Please suggest.
