After shutdown database i thry changing stack size
It is used primarily to address the ORA-04030 error on Windows servers. The oerr output for the ORA-04030 error is:
04030, 00000, "out of process memory when trying to allocate %s bytes (%s,%s)"
// *Cause: Operating system process private memory has been exhausted
// *Action:
This error occurs when Oracle is trying to allocate memory for the session but none exists. Windows NT has a limitation of 2 GB of RAM allocated for user processes and a maximum of 2 GB for the system. The memory counter reaches the maximum addressable memory at 2 GB, and the ORA-04030 error will occur.

    Hi Anirban,
maybe I am a little late...
but I guess you receive that error because oracle.exe is in use.
You have to shutdown all instances on the node before modifying the stack size.
(orastack oracle.exe simply shows the current values without changing anything)

  • HD problem - disk utility says "1 HFS volume checked"    "Vol needs repair"

This all started with very slow response when applications were opened on iMac purchased 10/07 - went to Disk Utilty and tried to Repair Disk - but not allowed to click on that option(still grey). So, went to Disc 1 of Installer set of disks , inserted in drive and attempted to reinstall Mac OS X that came with Oct '07 (Tiger-right before Leopard became standard) purchase. When I get to the Select A Destination part of the Install MacOS X directions, there are no choices(ie- HD not recognized). Went to disk utility option available with the Installer disk and did a Repair Disk option. Following messages in RED
    Invalid Volume Header
    Invalid Mode Sgtructure
The volume Mac HD needs to be repaired ( ie- Volume check failed)
then Disk Utility boxpops up andsays Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
    Finally
1 HFS volume checked VOLUME NEEDS REPAIR in red
    Huuuum.

It appears you have some directory damage on your hard drive. Disk Utility cannot fix some of these type problems. DiskWarrior can probably fix your problem. DiskWarrior by Alsoft

  • Partitioning problem - Disk Utility

Hi: I have an External 320 GB drive. I'm trying to partition it in Disk Utility. I do see it in DU and I can selec the number of partitions and alla the options. When I click "PARTITION" It stops responding.
    ANY IDEA?
    THANKS

    Hi,
what is the manufacturer of the enclosure and the disk and also how old is the enclosure?
Sounds to me like the enclosure has problems with the capacity of the new drive and is running into the 'old' problem with drives bigger than 128GB.
Do you have the possibility to countercheck with another 'newer' enclosure ?
    Regards
    Stefan

  • WRT54GS Problem Viewing Utility

I'm using a WRT54GS, working primarily on a Toshiba Satellite notebook running Windows XP SP2. The network works fine, but I cannot view the configuration utility correctly on my notebook. It displays fine on another PC, but when I open it with my Toshiba, headings are missing and I'm only able to see the first screen.
I thought it might be an Internet Explorer problem, but I cannot view it using Firefox, either.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I would say that it's a browser settings problem. It would be advisable to use i.e cuz it's more compatible with it and has been proven to work best with the web-based utility of the router. Firefox will do actually, even Safary or Netscape.
Using Internet Explorer, go to <tools> click on <internet options>. You can try deleting the cookies, files and history of your internet properties to refresh the page

  • Airport works, reports no problems in utility v5.2, still flashing amber

My Airport Extreme (802.11n) is connected to my cable modem using NAT. WPA/WPA2 is enabled. There are no problems with my network. The Airport utility shows a green light and states that my Airport base station reports no errors. The utility and the base station's firmware are current. The light is simply annoying. How do I make it happy and green again? I have tried resetting it and establishing my settings again. The same problem results.

If everything works perfectly and you notice no problems - I suggest you simply forget about it. You could expend a lot of time and effort, and possibly in the process cause a problem you don't have now, by trying to "fix" this issue.

  • Double problem: AirPort Utility 5.3.1 & Time Machine & AirPort Updater 1.0

Few days ago. I updated the AirPort Utility 5.3.1. But then I cannot setup my old 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (mushroom). AirPort Utility 5.3.1 can detect my AirPort Extreme Base Station: the name, IP Address, Version which is 5.5.1 and AirPort ID.
Every time I clicked manual setup or continue, it reported "An error occurred while reading the configuration. Please make sure your Apple wireless device is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again (-6765)."
Today, more trouble. After installed the Time Machine and AirPort Updater 1.0. Not even problem not fix the problem and I can't re-install 10.5.2 update combo.
Got error message "You cannot install Mac OS X Update Combined on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
Repair disk permission help at all.
Any methods can solve the above 2 problem please?
    Thanks

I can help you with the first problem, as I experienced it myself. Airport Utiity cannot read your old "mushroom" base station until its firmware is upgraded to version 5.7. Because the Utility cannot configure it, you can download this and apply it directly:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/airportextremefirmwar eupdate57formacosx.html
Once applied, Airport Utility will configure the AEBS just fine.

  • Hard drive will not mount shows up in Disk Utility

I have an external drive with a bootable OS X 10.6.8. I was in a transition between building up a SSD swapped drive. The SSD is installed in the CPU box but I have my old installation running from an external.
I have several external hard drives. They are all Firewire. Some have USB 3.0 and or eSATA options but my MacMini only talks to Firewire and USB 2.0.
I understand that you daisy chain Firewire drives and turn them on and off in sequence as they fall from the CPU box/case.
Firewire is a power source. I run the external with the OS using an AC adapter but one Firewire drive is powered through Firewire.
I have had as many as 4 external drives running along with the internal drive without a glitch while I was reorganizing files.
Today I booted off the external drive. It was running fine. I turned on one Firewire drive (the one that runs on Firewire power). That drive stumbled. I recognized the sound when there is an interruption in power. This cause the external boot drive to stall. I had to force a reboot.
Now the external boot drive will not boot up. It does not mount but Disk Utility sees it. The drive itself is bright and clear in Disk Utility but the partition (single) is faded out. I can run Verify and repair in DU. DU says it doesn't see anything to repair. It will not mount on its own or when I click the Mount button in DU. It does not produce an icon on the Desktop (because it is not mounting).
I also have SpeedTools. But although it sees the drive I cannot do anything with it. None of its tools run more than a spli second before they fail.
This drive has USB 3.0 and I see everything through USB that I see through Firewire. Connecting the other way did not get around the problem.
Of course I will buy an AC adapter for every external drive and never run them using Firewire again but the horse is out of the barn.
I have the original installation disks and could run the Archive and Install option but it would require physically swapping drives with the internal. I'd like to avoid it if possible. It is a MacMini and tedious.
    Any suggestions?

I took the problematic hard drive and installed it in my Mac Mini so I could attempt a Safe Boot and then Archive and Install if necessary.
Safe Mode didn't work. The drive produced the circle with a slash symbol.
I reset the PRAM which was part of a list of steps to work through I found created by Apple Support.
I was able to boot up to Verbose Mode and view the text of the boot process. I wrote it all down. I can answer questions about the content better than typing it all out exactly. It includes, "...journal magic is bad..." "...failed to open..." and ends with "...cannot mount root, errno = 19"
I attempted Archive and Install however when it went to show what target drives were available it was a blank box and all buttons were grayed out.
I rebooted and opened Disk Utility from the DVD. The drive appeared the same with the top main line bright and the partitioned volume faded. Still was unable to mount. I ran Verify and this time a red line of text appeared "Invalid content in Journal" and at the end I ran Repair. When running I could read line by line and at one point it showed "checking volume information" then the following line "Repairing volume" the following line "Rechecking volume" more line of checking then it ended with "The volume was repaired successfully."
It still would not mount. I ran Verify again and again said "Invalid content in Journal" and this time it stopped midway saying "The volume was found corrupt and needs to be repaired. Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk."
I clicked Repair and it ended with The vol. was repaired successfully."
Still unable to mount I began repeating Repair over and over. Each time it found something to repair and ended with a success message. After several more Repairs I tried Verify and it stopped midway saying to Repair the disk.
Question: Does running Repair multiple times continue to correct bits and pieces little by little or is this a generic message and we should treat it as a problem Disk Utility cannot pinpoint and is just beating its head against the wall?
The step by step instructions I downloaded mentioned running Repair more than once but it did not say that running it 20 times would erode some problems and eventually lead to a fully repaired disk (if the problem was something DU could take care of in the first place). At this point I have run Repair about 20 times total with a series of 10 back to back skipping Verify. I keep seeing the lines about invalid content in a journal and that it repaired something successfully. Yet I still cannot mount the disk.

  • Disk Utility broken while booted from Installation CDs??

Situation: I have a Macbook Pro with a 120 GB HDD. I had partitioned it into two partitions, and later desired that I should have only one partition on the drive. I booted the Mac OS X installation CDs and attempted the following three-step procedure:
    1. Use Disk Utility to image my system partition into a file on an external USB drive
    2. Verify the image and repartition ("Erase") my laptop's internal HDD
    3. Restore the disk image from the external HDD to the laptop's HDD.
I made it to step 3 without issue. So currently I have one unbootable Macbook Pro, an 85 GB image of a system partition on a USB HDD, and a perfectly bootable Intel Mac Mini from which I'm writing this post.
Problem: Disk Utility doesn't seem to be able to restore images when booted from the Installation CDs. On the 'Restore' tab there are two fields you must fill in, a 'source' field and a 'destination' field. The source field has a button where you can summon a very helpful file-picker, and it pulls up my disk image from my USB drive just fine. However, the destination field can only be filled in by clicking and dragging a drive from the left panel in Disk Utility.
However, it seems impossible to do this while booted from the Installation CDs. When I attempt to click and drag a disk from the left panel list, all I end up accomplishing is selecting multiple items from the list. To make a visual illustration:
Instead of this, like I get when I try it on my mac mini booted normally:
    http://upload.pbase.com/silentplummet/image/72221384.jpg
...I get this, which is a photo of my macbook pro booted from the installation CDs:
    http://upload.pbase.com/silentplummet/image/72221397.jpg
There doesn't seem to be any way to actually select a destination drive. If I had to hypothesize, I would guess that the GUI is crippled when you boot from CD and click+drag is deactivated. But that appears to make it impossible to restore images since the only way to select destination drives is by clicking and dragging.
Now I am a college student; I'm not really losing revenue or anything over this, but this is an awful oversight on Apple's part and I am stuck on what to do about it. There is no documentation that says "Restore functionality is crippled in Disk Utility when booting from installation CDs." Here are the steps I have tried for an alternate solution:
-Commandline diskutil. Unfortunately Apple has crippled it and there appears to be no imaging functionality whatsoever.
-Mount the image manually and cp the files back over. Unfortunately I can't make it preserve permissions. I passed the right options to cp but it just won't do what it's supposed to. I tried copying it anyway and using Disk Utility to repair the permissions, but it still wouldn't boot.
-Call Applecare. The support rep was kind and helpful but couldn't offer a solution. The higher-ups fed me some BS about not supporting third party applications, well, I hardly think Disk Utility constitutes a third party application.
My next step is to boot the MBP in target disk mode and use my mac mini to restore the image to the MBP HDD, but I have to buy a firewire cable for that and I don't really want to.
Seeking: acknowledgement that Disk Utility is broken and Apple *****, or otherwise immediate solutions to restore the image to my HDD that do not constitute monetary expenditures on my part.
    Macbook Pro 15" 2.0 GHz Mac mini 1.5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Others have (in the Mac Pro forum) noticed this bug in Disk Utility on the Intel version install disks. Your easiest fix would be to reinstall OSX on you Macbook disk, boot it, mount the disk image from the USB drive, and use the Migration Assistant to copy over all your accounts and data files.

  • Mavericks/Disk Utility error msg:

    Hi,
    Started to have these problems:
    Disk Utility msg:
Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired.
ACL found but not expected on “private/var/root/Library”
ACL found but not expected on “private/var/root/Library/Preferences”
Since upgrading to Mavericks my xhd is not seen when starting the iMac. I have to reboot it each time for the iMac to see it. It is also making sounds.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
I had problems with an update from DevonThink. That's why I ran Disk Utility.
I usually run it after I notice a problem. Then I do a restart.
The problem with the xhd-A is new. It started after the Mavericks install. During the install I also had a xhd-B plugged in, but no problem with that. I've run Disk Utility on xhd-A. Problem still exisits.
To recap when xhd-A is plugged in when I start my iMac everyday it isn't seen.
Then I unplug the xhd-A power cord, plug it back in, and it is seen.
To answer your question, I've already tried your idea. I ejected the xhd-A, shut down the iMac. Then restarted it, then plugged in the xhd-A and it is seen.
The specific problem is I can't leave xhd-A plugged in to the iMac. I have to remove the power cord, then plug in the power cord each time for it to be seen. Frustrating. This didn't happen in the past.

  • AirPort Utility Opens By Itself EVERYDAY Since Firmware Update

Ever since the AirPort Express firmware update a few days ago, the AirPort Utility opens everyday by itself, usually in the AM and under no specific set of circumstances. It always goes to the same info regarding sharing music and only gives me the option to continue to set up the AirPort automatically. When I quit and then check the settings manually, the music settings seem to be set up just fine.
Anybody else have this problem? Doesn't seem like the firmware update could affect the software on the Mac, but I have no other explanation.

In Airport Utility, check the preference menu item. There is a checkbox to monitor airport devices. If a device reports a problem, Airport Utility will launch automatically. Maybe somehow this option is turned on??

  • Airport extreme does not appear in airport utility and will not reset

    Hi,
Here's the problem: My base station wasn't letting me reconfigure its settings via ethernet or airport. I unplugged all cables and performed a hard reset. Now, it will not appear in airport utility either on ethernet or wireless, and it will not revert to the factory 'Apple Network #######' broadcast. It is still showing the name of the previous network in my computer's airport settings. Also, running iStumbler, it too does not see a new network.
Question: Is it fried? If not, what should I do?
    Thanks.

I'm may be having the same problem:
Airport Utility doesn't find the base station, despite being connected with ethernet and even now while I'm actually connected to the internet through it via Airport. In my first experience, I reset the base station, and then it did show up, though, as you said, not reset to factory defaults. On another occasion, it wasn't showing up again, but did the next morning when I sat down. Weird. This is on an Alum. PB 15" running Tiger (10.4.11). I also just got an Oct 08 MBPro with 10.5.5 and it's copy of Airport Utility is finding the base station right now while this machine is not. Is this some kind of bug? Both copies of Airport Utility are 5.3.2 (532.8)

  • EOS Utility question - checked preference won't 'stick'!

When I had Windows XP, I checked the 'Start EOS Utility when teh camera is connected' box in Preferences, and that's exactly what happened.  It worked every time.
Now that I have Windows 7, I find that when I check this box in Preferences, it's not checked the next time I look, and I always have to start the utility manually.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Same problem- EOS Utility will not automatically launch nor save preferences for my two different cameras, regardless of whether the cameras are appropriately connected and powered on. Everything is currently appropriately updated according to Canon site (downloads, drivers, etc). Worked seamlessly with old Digital Rebel XT. I *can* manually launch EOS Utility and download my photos for both units. This is simply a difficulty with establishing automatica launch and download function. AutoPlay settings for Windows doesn't list EOS Utility as an AutoPlay program option for the Rebel T2i. The EOS M doesn't show up at all as a device in the AutoPlay/Device menu.
