Problem integrating with Mail Channel

I have integrated the mail channel provided by the tech team but do not want the user to specify his IMAPPassword in the Edit User profile page.
Instead I want it to be picked up from the LDAP password.
So, I have mapped the following attributes in the External LDAP:
iwtUserInfoProvider-firstName=givenname
iwtUserInfoProvider-lastName=sn
iwtUser-IMAPUserId=uid
iwtUser-IMAPPassword=userpassword
However, it does not work. If, however, I do not map the password attribute and the user specifies it in the User Profile Edit Page, it works.
I guess it's got something to do withe the password being encypted in LDAP.
What do I do?

Yes your observation is correct if the password is encrypted in the messaging server then the authentication fails. The workaround is to have the user manually enter the password as you have done or store the mail server passwords in clear text.

I am having problems working with Mail in Snow Leopard

I have an iMac running 10.6.8. I was having problems booting up the computer, which I was able to overcome running Applejack. Then I noticed Mail malfunctioning. Followingg describes the problems:
1. Cannot open "About Mail".
2. Cnannot open Preferences; unable to check account settings.
3. Do receive most of incoming emails. For no known reason, outgoing servers go "Ofline". So, cannot send outgoing emails.
Will appreciate suggestions for fixing these problems.

OK, so that's a marginal machine - dont spend TOO much on it. Solid, btu i think, for example, can;t run Lion or later OSes.
I have not worked on a modern imac myself. I'd go to google, bing or your favourite search engine and search "hard drive replacement Imac intel" and see what you find re: instructions.
In general though, its not all that complicated. Your manual may in fact tell you how to access it mechanically. If you have, as i think you do a "SATA" (serial ATA) hard drive, just buy one, open it up, remove the old, plug in the new and close it.
Of course, first do a complete abckup and MAKE SURE YOU CAN BOOT FROM THE BACKUP.
A drive shoudl be < $100. One of the most helpful, althoug not chepaest vendors, is OWC (Other World Computing). They can actually ehlp you with instructiosn and what works in your model. If oyu have questions, i suggest using a hgih service vendor such as them. no affiliation.

Problem connecting with mail server

About 1 week ago, MS Entourage stopped receiving email and sending emails. In fact I can't even delete old email because I keep getting a message that Entourage can't contact the Mac mail servers. I have not changed any mail settings or my password. I swithed over to Mac Mail and was able to receive and send messages for about a day and now this program just freezes up when I attempt to use it. Since this problem cropped up I have been able to go to icloud to retrieve and send email. I would like to use the email programs on my MacBook. Is Apple having a problem with their mail servers or this an icloud sync problem with my desktop email programs?

Problem sending with mail server?

Almost every time I send an email with my gmail account a pop-up screen tells me that it was unable to send the message using smtp.gmail.com
I then click try again or use this server and it eventualy sends using the same email address but most of the time the pop-up screen comes up and I can't understand why.
Other time however the message will send immediately.
Any suggestions as to how I can stop the pop-up screen displaying every time I send a message?

There are some citations from Gmail sources that also mention Port 465, first. The only difference would be if the ISP you were using at the time wanted to see you using Port 465 when using SSL (more standard, perhaps) than using Port 587 with SSL. I use 465 myself -- see:

for citing of both ports. Try 465 and SSL and let me know if there is any change.

assume you want SAP internet mail gateway
1. download ML_xxx from sap market place under kernel folder(SAP internet mail gateway) and configure mailgw.ini
2. if you are using windows OS then install sendmail for windows (indigo mail can be purchased US$49/license), otherwise if UNIX, maybe sendmail already installed or use qmail.
your server should be ready to talk to a SMTP mail server.

HT5361 Why iCal is not integrated with Mail

I used Outlook Mail for years and one of the best features was the ability to quickly look at my calendar while I was in Outlook, why cannot Mail have this feature? I want to quickly see ical in mail, not go out of mail to see my calendar.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Can anybody help with problems with Mail & Backup, please?

Hi, yesterday, for some reason, a problem developed with Mail.
Without me changing anything, while it will send and receive e-mails through my Apple account, it has stopped downloading emails from my BT account, which previously worked fine.
It keeps trying to log on to collect them (the rotating gear wheel beside the account operates) but nothing downloads. It is not the BT account which is at fault, since my iPhone, which is synched to the computer, downloads them fine.
Also, while I had been regularly getting advice from Backup that my storage disk was full and it was deleting an old backup, today Backup has told me that the disc is full and the backup has failed.
I cannot see anything in Settings which could obviously account for these changes.
i am a pretty new Apple user (a conversion I cannot claim has been a great success so far, and I would be grateful for any help you can provide.

Export the folders/mailboxes and put them in the other users Public folder or go to the hard drive level user and put them in the Shared folder. You may have to reset permissions using Get Info (command - I). The other user can them import them.

Problem with Mail 6.6

Hello I've just buy a new imac 21' with OS 10.8.3 after install and migration data (via Time Capsule) I do the Software Update and the new version of Mac OS 10.8.5 was installed. All the application run without problems except with Mail 6.6 it's impossible to access at preferences option and visualise the mail viewer windows . If I try to open a new viewer Window the Mail Application stop and abort. I've tried to install again Mac OS X (restore) without success.
Have you a solution to advise me ?

I am trying to Set/Get Volume level of Input device which has only single channel but no master channel, then it fails to retrieve the kAudioDevicePropertyPreferredChannelsForStereo and intermittently kAudioDevicePropertyVolumeScalar for each channel. But this works well for Output device.
So is there any difference in setting/getting the volume of input channels?

That works but the the game will not be in full screen, it will have an empty strip at the bottom.
I actually found out what's the problem. I traced the stageWidth and stageHeight during resizing event. I found out that when it first resized, the stage width and height were the size with the notification bar. So when I pass the stage into startling, myStarling = new Starling(Game,stage), the stage is in the wrong size. For some reason, I can only get the correct stage width and height after the third resizing event.
So now I need to restart Starling everytime a resizing event happened. It gives me the right result but I am not sure it is a good idea to do that.

We have SRM 5.0 SRM_SERVER 5.5 SP level 7
Vendors access to a free link where they insert their data and register in SRM system. Automatically a questionnaire is sent to the vendor. Vendor complete the questionnaire and send it back to SRM with a mail sent by Outlook.
If now, we want to send back the questionnaire to the vendor (i.e. he forgot or he failed to insert one important data) the questionnaire received by the vendor is always empty, and there is no possibility to send back the questionnaire previously filled, in order to complete it just with a delta of data. This is a serious problem because our questionnaire are very long.
Moreover, it is not possible for the vendors to save a draft of the questionnaire locally on his pc, in order to complete it in more steps. This is important, because of the length of our questionnaire.
Another point of discussion is the integration with other client mail like Google o Yahoo.
Is it possible to send the questionnaire by a web client? Or the only way to send the questionnaire is by Outlook? Outlook express is good too?

When I try to zoom the text of an e-mail I received or sent , I can no longer use the keys Command + to enlarge the text, although I can reduce it with Command -.
As I have a problem with my eyes, This is a serious matter for me.
When I write an e-mail, if I select text and press Command +, it just displaces the text to the right.
Now, my husband has a USB keyboard. If he connects it to my computer, his regular Command + does not work either, but he uses the extended keyboard, then it works. Unfortunately, he needs it for a musical application which does not work with a wireless keyboard.

Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 use a process called, "plugin-container.exe" which was using up most of my CPU when I opened up multiple tabs that contained Adobe Flash files, and caused Firefox to lock up.
My solution was to use Firefox 3.5.10 which you can get from the Mozilla website at [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]
I am using Adobe Flash 10.1.53.64 without any problem in this version of Firefox. Check the release notes, I believe it contains all the latest security fixes in "Firefox 3.6.4".
Hopefully, they will fix Firefox 3.6 in the next version (e.g. Firefox 3.6.7), until then you should probably use "Firefox 3.5.10".

Problems with Mail, Safari and iTunes after updating to 10.5.6

after installing 10.5.6 I have problems with Mail, Safari and iTunes.
The time to open mails, websides and iTunes store is increasing dramatically since the update. If I open a webside parallel with Safari and Firefox, Safari needs minimum 15 times longer to open the complete side. Mails containing HTML-code also needs a long time to be opened. Tha same Problem with iTunes store. Connecting to the Store costs at least 30 - 40 seconds. And unfortunately for every iTunes store side I open. Its terrible
Any idea or workaroung to solve that problem?

First, run Disk Utility and repair permissions and then restart.
I installed the 10.5.6 Combo update. Sometimes things get "lost in the translation" when you use Software Update depending on your installation. Perhaps you can download 10.5.6 Combo from the website and install it from your desktop.

Problem with mail for exchange after update on E72...

Hi everyone,
I updated Nokia E-mail to ver 3.9 on E72. Now I am facing a problem with mail for exchange. I have configured gmail on mail for exchange. I recieve a warning that "unable to sync contact administrator if problem persist". It started to pop up just after the update was over and is very frustrating. Even previously i used to recieve mails instantly but now it generally takes half an hour for me to recieve them. I deleted and created mail for exchange several times but to no avail.
Also i am not able to automatically recieve mails other emails which i have configured. every time I have to manually download them everytime.
Can anybody suggest a way out.

It could be a problem if you're using your network's connections...
I was on a Pay & Go tariff with o2 some time ago, and needed secure connections for various things, o2 told me they didn't provide secure connections on Pay & Go tariffs...
Could be worth checking with them to make sure it's supported.
