Problem on Selection Variable

Hi All
I have a requirement On my selection option there is Two fields
Perno
Dept No
Condition 1 If the user leaves both the fields blank thn it will return error msg. Specify a value for Variables
Condition 2  but when User provide only PERNO Input Not DEPT Input the Query will execute Or Provide the Dept input leaving the PERNO field blank thn also the Query execute.

hi,
This is some thing intresting.
I think you can do in this way and it will work defntley.
Create two customer exit varibale for the selection fields Perno and Deptno.
Use i_step = 2 i.e once the user enters value in the selection screen call function module "RRMS_MESSAGE_HANDLING".
using this function module you can display message on the selection screen according to you requirement whether field is balnk or filled.
Let me know if you have more concerns.

Shivu.

  • Query selection variable problem

    Hi ,
We have a material "89-9712" . When running a query in the query designer (on portal) with material as selection variable we are having problems. When we enter "89-9712", we are getting an error "enter single values and not a range"...is the fact that there is a "-" in the material key causing the problem. What can we do?
    Thanks,
    Anita.

    Hi,
Having a '-' while entering the material value shouldn't pose a problem in case the same fromat is adopted while storing the material , or does two no. i.e. 85-39876 , 85 refers to some " material grooup" or category , and the real material no is 39876 in that case it may pose a problem.
While making an entry make sre you are not putting any sapce other than '-' sice space is not permitted.
    Hope this will be expedite.

  • Selection Variable Problem

    Hi All,
We have the data in the backend as follows.
Course            Prim instru  second instru      No. of Responses
    Java Course     Instruc1        Instruct2            12
    BW Course     Instruc3                                 10
    ABAP Course      Instruc2        Instruc3            15
    Portal Course      Instruc2                                 20
we need to have a single selection variable for instructor and the result should be as follows.
    Variable Screen:
    Instructor = Instruc2
    Result:
Course            Prim instru  No. of Responses
    Java Course     Instruc2       12
    ABAP Course      Instruc2       15
    Portal Course      Instruc2       20
Any ideas on how to achieve this?
    Regards,
    rk.

    Hi there,
It seems you're trying to achieve an "OR" in BEx queries, i.e., prime instructor OR second instructor as instructor2 (selected by the user as a variable input), is this right?
If so, you can use another characteristic like for example named combined_instructor and fill it in the transactional data like this:
Course            Prim instru  second instru         combined_instructor     No. of Responses
    Java Course     Instruc1        Instruct2              Instruc1_Instruct2         12
    BW Course     Instruc3                                   Instruc3                         10
    ABAP Course      Instruc2        Instruc3              Instruc2_Instruc3          15
    Portal Course      Instruc2                                   Instruc2                         20
So, combined_instructor is the concetanation of the Prime and second instructor.
So you can use a variable over combined_instructor, and if there is any
    *Instruct2*
, you have all the options of Prime and second instructor with the Instruc2
    Diogo.

    Hi,
here is some idea.. here i have taken expample dates 1)notification creation date and 2) notification completion.
1st:in the query designer at key figure coloumn create
one local formula.in that local formula create formula
variable with replacement path.in that take reference character
notification completion.in the next tab take replace ment
as key.in the last tab select "date".
2nd: do the same thing for the notification creation date.
3 rd : create 3 rd local formula and do the substraction
for the first 2 local formulas.
4th:create codition on the difference which u have find with
on that condition u can create one user entry varibale.
    5th:while u defining the query put these 2 dates,i,e
notification completion, notification creation date in the character block.
If not system will ignore the formula variable which u created in
    above steps.
    Hope this wil help u.

  • Script logic - how to use a selection variable within an allocation logic

    Hi,
I want to implement a simple top-down distribution to distribute values from a yearly budget (Y20xx.TOTAL) to a quarter budget (Q20xx.Q1, ... Q20xx.Q4) using the actuals of the previous year as reference.
If we hard code the members it works fine:
    *RUNALLOCATION
    *FACTOR=USING/TOTAL
    *DIM ACCOUNT WHAT=ACC_NOT_ASSIGNED; WHERE=BAS(FIN); USING=<<<; TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM TIME WHAT=Y2009.TOTAL; WHERE=BAS(Q2009.TOTAL); USING=BAS(Q2008.TOTAL); TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM CATEGORY WHAT=SBO; WHERE=<<<; USING=ACTUAL; TOTAL=<<<
    *ENDALLOCATION
Of course, we want to make this dynamic, using the values inputted in the selection screen of the package: time, entity and category.
So if we start with write the following logic, it does not work anymore:
    *RUNALLOCATION
    *FACTOR=USING/TOTAL
    *DIM ACCOUNT WHAT=ACC_NOT_ASSIGNED; WHERE=BAS(FIN); USING=<<<; TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM TIME WHAT=%TIME_DIM%; WHERE=BAS(Q2009.TOTAL); USING=BAS(Q2008.TOTAL); TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM CATEGORY WHAT=%CATEGORY_DIM%; WHERE=<<<; USING=ACTUAL; TOTAL=<<<
    *ENDALLOCATION
So, how to use the selection variables in this allocation logic? %TIME%, %CATEGORY% also did not work ...

    solved it ...
Edited by: Dries Paesmans on Feb 22, 2009 8:31 PM

    Hi Dries,
Looks like you solved this, but if I can just add a small point -- when you use syntax like this:
    *DIM ACCOUNT WHAT=ACC_NOT_ASSIGNED; WHERE=BAS(FIN);
    *DIM TIME WHAT=Y2009.TOTAL; WHERE=BAS(Q2009.TOTAL);
each time the logic runs, it will scan through the dimension from the FIN and Q2009.TOTAL members, one level at a time, until it reaches the base members (where calc = 'n'). This may happen very quickly, if the dimension has very few levels, but could take a bit of extra time if it's a particularly deep dimension. (By which I mean many levels of hierarchy -- not some 1970's Pink Floyd musical reference.)
You may speed things up by using a member property instead of the BAS(xyz). Flag all the base members using a specific property value, and that way the logic engine can pick up the complete list of members in the WHERE clause, in a single query.
    *DIM Account What=ACC_NOT_ASSIGNED; Where=[FloydProperty]="DarkSideOfTheMoon"; ...
This adds some maitenance work in the dimension, which may be problematic if your admins are changing it regularly (and will cause problems if they forget to update this particular property).
I can't predict how much time this will save you (maybe not much at all), but anyway I figure you'd want to know exactly what work you're asking the system to perform.

    Tim

  • How to Create a Selection Variable for restricting the querry output

    Hi Gurus,
I have created a query in query designer on a Multiprovider and the output of the query is a Formula in a structure which calculates a % value, the client is looking for entering a range of number during the query selection screen and the output should be restricted to the given selection values.
Can any one tell me how i should create a selection variable that would take the input from the user during the query selection screen and then restrict the output to that value which user specified.
Is there a need to write any customer exit or is there any alternative way to make the query work as the requirement is.
I hope this explains my problem but if any questions please let me know so that i can give u specific information.
    Thanks,
    Nisha.

    Hi Nisha,
Firstly, in order to restrict the query output by a key figure value, you will need to create a condition on that key figure. This is done in the query deisgner. Now when you are creating the condition you can also use user entry variables (formula variables with user entry) to let the users enter the value that they want to see.

  • Performance problem with selecting records from BSEG and KONV

    Hi,
I am having performance problem while  selecting records from BSEG and KONV table. As these two tables have large amount of data , they are taking lot of time . Can anyone help me in improving the performance . Thanks in advance .
    Regards,
    Prashant

    Hi,
    Some steps to improve performance
SOME STEPS USED TO IMPROVE UR PERFORMANCE:
    1. Avoid using SELECT...ENDSELECT... construct and use SELECT ... INTO TABLE.
    2. Use WHERE clause in your SELECT statement to restrict the volume of data retrieved.
    3. Design your Query to Use as much index fields as possible from left to right in your WHERE statement
    4. Use FOR ALL ENTRIES in your SELECT statement to retrieve the matching records at one shot.
    5. Avoid using nested SELECT statement SELECT within LOOPs.
    6. Avoid using INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE. Instead use INTO TABLE.
    7. Avoid using SELECT * and Select only the required fields from the table.
    8. Avoid nested loops when working with large internal tables.
    9. Use assign instead of into in LOOPs for table types with large work areas
    10. When in doubt call transaction SE30 and use the examples and check your code
    11. Whenever using READ TABLE use BINARY SEARCH addition to speed up the search. Be sure to sort the internal table before binary search. This is a general thumb rule but typically if you are sure that the data in internal table is less than 200 entries you need not do SORT and use BINARY SEARCH since this is an overhead in performance.
    12. Use "CHECK" instead of IF/ENDIF whenever possible.
    13. Use "CASE" instead of IF/ENDIF whenever possible.
    14. Use "MOVE" with individual variable/field moves instead of "MOVE-
CORRESPONDING" creates more coding but is more effcient.

  • Problem in the variable customer exit in the query jump target

    Hi developers,
we have problem because we have created a variable time on 0CALDAY who is mapped in the cube of the stock with posting date.We launch the query for example with range 01/8/2005 31/8/2005 and the resul is OK.
Then we jump on the other query where the users wish see the result of the posting date for the period 01/8/2005 31/8/2005 For resolved this problem we have created a variable customer exit for the characteristic 0Postingdate and have inserted the code in user exit variable:
    WHEN 'ZV_CEREG'.
        IF i_step = 2.
          LOOP AT i_t_var_range INTO loc_var_range
                 WHERE vnam = 'Z_DAT_AN'.
            CLEAR l_s_range.
            CLEAR datastock.
            l_s_range-low  = loc_var_range-low.
            l_s_range-high = loc_var_range-high.
            l_s_range-sign = loc_var_range-sign.
            l_s_range-opt  = loc_var_range-opt.
            APPEND l_s_range TO e_t_range.
            EXIT.
          ENDLOOP.
        ENDIF.
When we effectued the jump the our objective is transfer the date inserted by user in the variable  of the query sender 'Z_DAT_AN' to the variable of the query receveir 'ZV_CEREG'.
This step it does not work correctly, this why are different query?
You can help me for resolved this problem!!
    Thanks Domenico

    Hi,
I think, this approach does not work. Because customer exit will be finished before displaying the result set of 1st report. So the assignment to VAR2 from VAR1 does not execute then after.
I hope, In RSBBS,after assigning receiver, in the assignment details, select 'Variable' for 'Type' of 'infoobject' 0calday.And select '0Postingdate' for 'fieldname' and select 'selection options' for selection type.
Take help.sap.com help for further information.

  • Passing Selection Variables via Replacement Path

I need a query(main) with list of Debits and Credits. I am pulling list of credits(side) from a seperate query for a specific selection and a condition in main query via replacement path, both on same ODS infoprovider. But in the side query, I cant put any selections or restrictions as they are dependent on main query result.
The side query itself when running is taking more than 5 mins due to large number of records on ODS.
My question is Can I pass selection variables from main query to side query?

It's always nice to see someone resolve their own problem.
It's even nicer if they explain what they did/changed/learned to solve it so that the rest of the community can benefit.

  • How to create selection variable on a Key Figure

    Dear Experts,
I have a key figure 'No of Days' in the BEx Query. I need a selection variable which when the users provide the input, should give me the report output where the rows shows only those whose No of days are less or equal to the input value.
I am able to create such a selection out of a Characteristics field but I am unable to create one from a key figure.
Kindly note that we are not using the BW Portal. We are running this report in the webi from a Universe created from the BE Query.I know that it is possible to ceate such a scenario in Webi, but we want the selection coming from the BEx Query for better report performance.
    Thanks,
    Sai

    Hi Experts,
Thanks for the suggestions. I cannot use the 'Condition' since this BEx query is being called from a Webi report. MDX will not recogonize the condition.
I was able to create a Variable and use it in the calculated key figurare. The problem is , I am getting 1 where the condition is met and 0 when the condition is not met. But I want to see only the results where the condition is met. How to to avoid the rows where the result is not met.
Am I getting this because there are actually 3 other key figures along in the query in addition to  the key figuare ' No of days'.
Should I add some condition to the other key figuares also.
    Kindly confirm and help.
    Thanks,
    Sai

  • Selection variable not working properly on portal

    Hi,
We have a report in which Survey is a selection variable(Not a mandatory variable). If I select Two or more surveys simultaneosuly in the initial selection screen, then the Portal is not displaying the data. PFB screenshot of the selection.
If I select the same two surveys individually in the selection screen, then the portal outputs the result. If I execute without selecting any survey and then apply a filter (after the output is generated) for those two surveys together, then also the data is displayed properly.
Kindly note that this report is being used by German users and the problem exists only when the Language preferences of the portal is changed to German. With English Language Preferance, the selection variable works properly.
Please suggest if anybody has faced a similar issue
    Regards,
    Keerthan

    Hi Lakshmi,
The texts are maintained for those survey values and even with German Language Key, still not getting the output.
If i select them individually, then I am getting the output.
For instance, I have selected the surveys "0000084001" and "0000090001" together in the selection screen(I have inserted the Pic in the original post, but i am sorry it is not clear in that) and not getting the output or it hungs up in the execution state.
If i select the same survey "0000084001" only, then I get the output.
This is the same case when I select only "0000090001".
This scenario is only with German Preferance.
If i change the preferance to English and select these two surveys together, then it outputs the result.
    Regards
    Keerthan

  • Captivate 5.5 - unresponsive when selecting variables

I'm experiencing a new problem with captivate 5.5. When selecting variables on the menu or from within advanced actions, captivate becomes unresponsive (freezes). This happens in existing and new projects. Is this an experiene anyone else has had? Is the only solution to reinstall?
    thanks,
    Nick

When you kick off the uninstall for the ELS it will eventually bring up a menu page with all the apps in the suite shown as ticked for uninstall.
You just untick all boxes EXCEPT Captivate and this will mean that ONLY Captivate will ge the chop.

  • Authorization Variables with Optional Selection Variables

Has anyone used authorization variables in addition to optional selection variables?
I'm getting funny results and trying to figure out why.
    Here's the scenario:
    InfoObject zcompany has 5 values A - E
UserX is authorized to see all 5 values in his user profile.
In the query zcompany has two variables assigned to it. 1 is an optional multiple selection variable, and 2) is an authorization variable
    Here's the funny result:
User X runs the query and selects company A from the optional selection criteria, he clicks execute and but the results returned are companies A - E.  ?????
Is there a processing order here?  Are the authorizations being processed last and overwriting the selection criteria?  My users are annoyed with me because they feel like they have to pick everything twice.
Any help anyone could provide would be much appreciated.
    thanks
    Smitty

    Hey Bhanu,
    thanks for the reply.
I kinda tried that in the past and found out that it really annoyed my user community.
I guess im looking for the best of both worlds here, because I like the fact that the authorization variable limits the optional selection values for the users that are only allowed to see one or two things, but for the super users this creates the issue described above because they're allowed to see everything.  But sometimes, the power users only want to see one or two values... and thus the problem above.
I noticed in the query information the value for zcompany was "Complex Selection" is that the system's way of saying that it's confused?

  • Problem about selecting waveform in waveform graph

    Hi all:
I am developing a project by Labview. Now I meet a problem about selecting the waveform in the waveform graph.
I am not sure whether it is possible about my idea.
    for example:
In the waveform graph,  the different waveforms from a couple of channels are displayed. and then I want to select one waveform of them, and corresponding data about this waveform are shown.
    Thanks so lot
    regards

    hanwei wrote:
    1.  can I zoom in and out in that "waveform graph"??
You can do this using the graph palette. Just make it visible. The middle control allows you to zoom.
    2.  can I display the plot array or plot index that I select in the waveform graph?
You can connect the same wire that goes to the ActivePlot property node to an indicator.
    3.  I build a sample codes for my project, in which , I used a random number generater to simulate a DAQmx data collection, and generate a overlapping waveform in the waveform graph.
but it seems the program is not stable, when i first run the codes, it is ok, and I can select the plot what I want. but after I stop and restart the program, there is error message about "Property Node".
it seems something wrong about the "waveform graph properties"
I attached my codes here, anybody know what wrong about it?
For some strange reason the property node is "messed up". I've seen this happen sometimes with graphs. I don't know what causes it, and the only way I've found to fix the problem is to delete the graph, put a new one on the front panel, and recreate the property nodes. I've typically seen this happen when copying code from another VI that has a graph with property nodes, as I suspect you did. If you delete the graph, put a new one on there, and recreate the property node you should be OK.
That said, a few comments regarding the code:
The architecture seems to be a mish-mash of operations, and I'm thinking that you probably want to look at using a producer-consumer architecture. Your producer loop responds to events, and the consumer loop does your DAQ collection.
You have a race condition with your use of the "size(s) 2" local variable.
    Avoid right-to-left wires.
The method of creating your arrays seems convoluted. However, since you said you will actually be getting the data from a DAQ system, the actual project code will likely be considerably different.

  • Problem with application-variables - CFLOCK?

    Hi,
i have a problem with my application. It is a multi-user
    application with 100 parallel-users and CFMX 7.
The problem wich occures is with application variables. These
are mainly structs wich get filled onApplicationStart(). The
problem is, that the variables suddenly disappear, they are empty.
I have read about CFLock and found out, that it is necesseary
to use cflock. And i found out, that onApplicationStart does
correct locking automatically. That is where i do not understand
the problem. The variables get intialized correctly and in further
they only get read-access. Why can they be corrupted?
My other question about that is, wheather i need cflock for
all Read-Access to Application and Session-Variables, even if there
happens no writing to the variables?
    Best Regards,
    Andreas

    > ?The element of position 2, of dimension 2, of an array
    object used as part of
    > an expression, cannot be found.?
    > The array is in this case the struct.
Well, OK, that could be a problem. Arrays are not structs:
    they are two
different things, are not interchangeable, and have
    completely different
sets of functions to utilise them. You cannot treat a struct
    as an array.
If CF is claiming your "struct" is an array, then it actually
    *is* an
    array, not a struct.
What's the line of code which is generating that error?
I suppose one could get this error if you have an array of
    structs thus:
    myArray
    .key1
    myArray.key2
    (etc)
and you're trying to reference it with a numeric key rather
    than by key
    name, eg:
    myArray
    [n]
When n is an integer value, rather than a string (which
    corresponds to the
    name of the key).

So does this not happen in your dev / testing environment?

    onRequestStart() returns true?
I would ***-u-me that the application one would be called
    before the
request one. It's pretty easy for you to test this though, I
    should think?
(Sorry: for reasons beyond the scope of this conversation,
    we're still
forced to use Application.cfm in our software, so I've only a
    passing
    knowledge of how Application.cfc works).

One thing I will say here is that I really think you should
    be separating
your processing from your display. A function should do
    processing. it
should pass that processing back to a CFM template which
    should handle
whatever needs to be displayed on the browser. Although
    that's nowt to do
    with your current issue.
