Problem opening a link, created in FW CS5

OK....so I'm about half way finished with my Fireworks CS4 Essential  training, so I got to SYMBOLS and THERE we have BUTTONS. Finally!
As  usual there're good news and bad. I managed to create fine (with Mr.  Babbage's help) working rollover button. I only had to manually change  the code (to adjust the correct location of the buttons 2 files (2  states of one button, basically) on my server. Also in FW I added a link  to the button. So I placed the code into 2 places
1) A regular Joomla article opened with no editor so I could see the code.
2) Custom HTML Joomla module
In  BOTH cases it worked. The only thing is...it does NOT work together, so  I just disabled the Custom HTMLmodule and left the button at the bottom  of the article.
BTW, I just placed ALL the code generated by FW all in one place...
Now...another  thing which is unclear (don't know if it makes any difference), when I  make export in FW, I get a choice where I can choose Generic or DW  XHTML. I chose the former...
Now, the BAD thing is...for some stupid reason, despite the fact that I DID wrotewww.google.com in Link box in FW, so it appears as a href=
www.google.com ...when I tried to open the .htm file in my local PC's browser for a  preview AND when I tried to click on a link on my site, there was the  same problem.
Instead of www.google.com, it brings me file:///C:/Users/TM/Desktop/New%20folder/www.google.com
OR...in a latter case:
http://asylum-seeker.org/www.google.com
WHY is that??? and how it can be solved
Here's the code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<!-- saved from url=(0014)about:internet -->

  var p,i,x;  if(!d) d=document; if((p=n.indexOf("?"))>0&&parent.frames.length) {
    d=parent.frames[n.substring(p+1)].document; n=n.substring(0,p);}
  if(!(x=d[n])&&d.all) x=d.all[n]; for (i=0;!x&&i<d.forms.length;i++) x=d.forms[i][n];
  for(i=0;!x&&d.layers&&i<d.layers.length;i++) x=MM_findObj(n,d.layers[i].document);
  if(!x && d.getElementById) x=d.getElementById(n); return x;
function MM_swapImage() { //v3.0
  var i,j=0,x,a=MM_swapImage.arguments; document.MM_sr=new Array; for(i=0;i<(a.length-2);i+=3)
   if ((x=MM_findObj(a[i]))!=null){document.MM_sr[j++]=x; if(!x.oSrc) x.oSrc=x.src; x.src=a[i+2];}
function MM_swapImgRestore() { //v3.0
  var i,x,a=document.MM_sr; for(i=0;a&&i<a.length&&(x=a[i])&&x.oSrc;i++) x.src=x.oSrc;
function MM_preloadImages() { //v3.0
  var d=document; if(d.images){ if(!d.MM_p) d.MM_p=new Array();
    var i,j=d.MM_p.length,a=MM_preloadImages.arguments; for(i=0; i<a.length; i++)
    if (a[i].indexOf("#")!=0){ d.MM_p[j]=new Image; d.MM_p[j++].src=a[i];}}
//-->
</script>
</head>
<body bgcolor="#ffffff" onload="MM_preloadImages('images/stories/surf_button_s2.gif');">
<a href="www.google.com" target="_blank" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore();" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('surf_button_s1','','images/stories/surf_button_s2.gif',1);"><i mg name="surf_button_s1" src="images/stories/surf_button_s1.gif" width="192" height="58" border="0" id="surf_button_s1" alt="" /></a></body>
</html>
The buttons I will attach too, just in case.
And the URL is
http://asylum-seeker.org/2010-06-14-00-09-09

It WORKS NOW!!!
I found a solution to the problem...Yes, thank you Sir for correcting the URL. I watched videos from YouTube and I also paid attention and corrected that.
Also, I realized that hotspots are not neccessary. So I don't even have to touch Hotspot tool. What I haven't done before was that I didn't make an Active Area slicing. Now I exported the button with the following setting:
HTML and Images
Export Slices
Current Page
I put checkmarks in all 3 boxes. And In Options I chose .htm and DW XHTML.
I changed the location of files in a code to match their physical location on the server and I just copy-pasted ALL the FW code into my existing Joomla article and everything works fine. Except that I didn't optimize my gif button with Matte, so the edges are jaggedy sort of. But that's not important.
As per Joomla...No miracles there, Sir and you really don't have to know it. Because basically Joomla doesn't do anything by itself. It just executes the HTML, JS codes and uses lots of CSS. If its a good working code-it works, if it doesn't-it doesn't. As simple as that.
I hope in the future chapers you will explain more about that Hotspot tool, and the connection between so called Active Area (I wonder why its even called like that), slices and links on buttons and such.
And another thing is...I still don't understand how I can make in FW a billbord bg image with a rollover button on top (call to action kinda button).
What should be a workflow?

  • Problem opening PC files created on latest version of CS5 on Mac

    Hi.
    We´re a creative team in my company of four people, three mac users and one pc user. We recently all subscribed to the creative cloud so that we allways have the latest version of CS5, but there seems to be a problem with all files edited or created from the PC user.
    We've (mac users, all three) tried to open the files either created or edited by the PC user and we're told that this was created by a newer version and is not possible. Trying to understand why this message occure when all three macs where updated with creative cloud after the PC user.

    your title is confusing.
    the pc user is using cc 2014 apps, correct?
    the mac users are using cc 2014 apps, correct?
    if so, there should be no problem.
    if someone is using cs5 to try and open a file created by a cc 2014 app, you will see the problem you described.

  • Can't open DNG files created with Mac CS5 downloader in Mac CS4 Photoshop

    I recently installed CS5 on my mac but I kept CS4 installed as well.  I notice that I cannot open DNG files created with CS5 in Photoshop CS4.  Bridge CS4 shows the files only as icons - no image thumbnails.  I am able to open these same files on a Windows version of CS4.  Is there some plugin for my mac CS4 that will enable me to access the DNG files created with CS5?  Is there a way to use my CS5 downloader when converting my raw files from my camera to DNG files that will make them compatiple with PS and Bridge CS4?

    Well, yes...but you'll need to modify your DNG Converter prefs to allow for that. You''ll need a recent (ideally current DNG Converter 6.4.1 or above) and click on the DNG Converter preferences and select the correct DNG Converter options. Check DNG Converter 6.4.1 (the current version) and click on "Change Preferences" to be sure select Camera Raw 5.4 and later then make sure CS4 is updated to ACR 5.7 (which is the last version of ACR for CS4) However, the changes made to ACR 6.x really should be adopted since IQ for ACR 6.4.x is a lot better...

  • Problem opening web links in a pdf

    I work at a college and I have a user that cannot open web links in pdfs that he created himself in Acrobat 7.0. He uses Adobe Reader XI to view pdf's and Adobe Acrobat 7.0 to edit them. His computer at home and my own office computer can open the web links. Funny thing is, Acrobat 7.0 will open the links but latest and greatest Reader on his specific machine won't. Any ideas?

    Make sure the URLs are complete and valid. A common error is to leave out http:// at the start, since that seems to work in browsers, but isn't a URL.
    Other common errors are leaving spaces or other special characters in URLs, which are forbidden (but not all software blocks it).

  • Problems opening WMP links.

    I have been trying to open WMP links on this site: http://www.videocorner.tv/index.php?langue=en to watch the launches of satellites. I have updated my computer (MacBookPro) updated Flash 9, Installed Flip4Mac and everything else I can think of. Does anyone know how to get files like these to work in Safari?
    I also tryied Firefox but no go there either.
    Thanks

    Hi Mark,
    The website seems to have standard windows media 9 files on there, but the way they've embedded them in the webpage will only work on Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer.
    After looking at the code for an example page, I was able to extract a url to a file and this location will happily load in the older Windows Media Player 9 from Microsoft. E.g.:
    for location: http://www.videocorner.tv/videocorner/vod/video.asx.php?langue=en&flight=176&seq uence=lancement&debit=high
    The only contact address I could find anywhere on that site or the arianne parent site was '[email protected]' - send a friendly email in their direction asking for support of non-Windows browsers

  • Problem opening a link from webpage to a access db file on a network share

    Hi all,
    We have a webpage where there are links to the different ressources on our network..
    one of these links points to the i:\somefolder\someDB.accdp or whatever extionsen access databases have..
    so the idea is that the user goes to the webpage click on the link and because the I: drive on the pc points in the right place it opens the file in access.
    this works. IE download manager pops up and asks what to do, open - save - save as
    the users says open and access opens the DB for the user.
    The problem is that IE download manager says the file was not downloaded and the access database windows does not take focus.
    now this may seem like a small thing but we do get allot of support from users saying its not working. The problem here being that users don't see the blinking access icon in the process bar and thinks that clicking the link didn't work.
    I assume the reason access doesn't pop into focus after choosing to open it from IE link is because IE sees the file as not downloaded and than nothing happens.
    I have no clue why this happens (IE says the file was not downloaded or why access doesn't take focus after choosing open)
    I have been at it for days..
    I have put the site in the trusted site option which did nothing to solve the issue.
    Turned off mime sniffer and screenfilter or what ever the filter in IE is called and i still got the issue
    this is IE 11
    ANY!... and i mean A N Y ideas would be priciated!
    Sincerly
    Casper

    Hi,
    Is this problem just occures to part of users? Is these computer installed any security software? If that it is, try to disable them for test.
    It would be better to disable the AV software, then restart the computer to test the problem again if it appears.
    If no use, in my opinion, it would be better to use network Monitor to capture the web access trace when clicking the link.
    This could help us have a deep insight about this problem.
    If there is any difficult, please feel free let us know.

  • Problem opening Keynote 08 created PPT in Windows Office 2007

    After creating my presentation in iWork08 Keynote I save it first in its native format, and then in PPT. When I try to open the PPT in Office 2007 on a WIndows machine, all I get is an empty Window. If I open it in Office 2003, no problems. If I then save it in Office XP/2003 format, Office 2007 can then read it without issues. Has anyone else seen this behaviour, and if you have, have you been able to resolve it at all?

    I've had the exact same problem running Vista and Office 2007 except I don't have the luxury of having another computer with Office 2003. Does anyone know of a fix? This totally makes buying windows useless as a way to check ppts that we export from Keynote. Can apple fix this?

  • How to open a link created from a document on my Mac?

    I used the old Page to create a list of recipes in which i inserted links to the files kept in my laptop. So everytime i wanted to cook something, i just opened the listing file and click on the recipe(s) i want and got dirrected to the recipe(s).
    But after updating to new Page, i can no longer do that. Everytime i click on a recipe, it shows "Edit" or "open" option, which neither works when clicked. Later, i noticed that the new Page removed the option "Insert > Document", and i think that's why my links don't work anymore.
    Is that true? Or is there any way that i can make these links work again?
    Thanks

    Pages 5 does not link to files. Just 1 of 100 features Apple removed.
    Use Pages '09. It works.

  • Problem opening PSD templates at times in CS5 and CS6

    I have had a problem with opening some PSD template files.  It doesn't happen all the time and it doesn't happen with every template.  All of the templates were downloaded as zip files and opened and saved using Photoshop CS 5 on a Windows XP PC.  When this happens I am getting an error message to the effect that the file can't be opened as it was done in a different version of PS.  When the files were saved, they were saved as PSD files and the compatibility check box is always checked.  The thing is, sometimes the file will open and sometimes the same one won't.  It is frustrating when it happens as there is no rhyme or reason as to when or why it happens.   Would like to know if anyone else has had this issue and if so, would like to know if they have found a reason for this seeming glitch.

    As far as I know Photoshop can not open Zip files.  If you unzip the zip archive and it contained PSD files.  How do you know they were all saved on a XP system with Photoshop CS5 with max compatibility.  The message you getting seem to be contradicting that.

  • Problem with internal links created in iweb 06 after upgrading to iweb 08

    I have a site I created in iweb 06 and have uploaded to my own server (not .mac). After switching to iweb 08, I have found that any blog entry that has a title with punctuation of any kind results in a broken link (404 page not found error). I am using fetch to upload the site, and am wondering if in need to change some fetch setting or preference. iweb 08 seems to use the blog entry title as the link, and it just won't work if there is any punctuation in the title. Everything uploaded perfectly in iweb 06. Is this a glitch in iweb 08 or am I doing something wrong. Thanks for any advice you can give. I have not upgraded to OS 10.5. (If you want to look at the site it's www.doylelogan.com/dlctravel)

    All your links are live except the one you mentioned.
    I don't understand what behavior you expect from the links. Your rollover color is very close to the normal and visited one. If you made it contrast more, the link would be more obvious.
    I don't like to underline links but maybe you need to do this if you feel that they are not obvious enough.
    Undo and redo the link that is not working.
    It may be that iWeb needs a jolt. Try the troubleshooting steps under "Fix iWeb" here....

  • Why doesn't Photoshop CS4 open DNG files created in Photoshop CS5?

    I download raw photo files from my Leica Dlux 4 and convert the Leica raw files to DNG files using CS5 Bridge.  Recently I discovered that when I try to access these DNG files in Photoshop CS4 I get a message saying 'cannot access this file'.  The files also do not show up as thumbnails in CS4 Bridge.  Do I need an upgrade or a plug in to see DNG files created in CS5 Bridge in Photoshop CS4?

    System: Windows 7
    Third party plug-ins: Not to my knowledge?
    Quicktime: I believe so.
    Save Method: I save as two copies, one in the default Photoshop format (PSD) and then I hit "save as" to save as PNG.

  • Problems opening PDF's created on PC on a MAC

    Hi,
    Im having issues when I PDF a word document from Microsoft Office 2010. When I open the pdf file after it is fine and when I email it to other PC users it is fine. The problem occurs when I send the PDF to a MAC user and they view the file. The text becomes black lines. The lines are also still visible when they print the document.  I am using acrobat 9 pro. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thanks for your help

    I was converting a MS word 2010 doc to a PDF.  I think I found a solution though.  When saving the PDF, I selected the "options" and checked off the box under PDF options for "ISO 19005-1 compliant (PDF/A).  I tried to access this updated file from my iPad and it no longer displayed the text as black lines.  It did, however, increase the file size quite a bit... I think that is due to embedding the fonts?  Anyhow, it appears to be working now :-)

  • Does Adobe Reader for iOS have the ability to open inbedded links to additional PDF docs?  If not, then what would be the best way to use these already created PDF's?

    Does Adobe Reader for iOS have the ability to open inbedded links created with Acrobat Standard to additional PDF docs?  If not, then what would be the best way to use these already created PDF's on an I Pad?

    driddy61,
    As of June 2014, none of the Adobe Reader mobile products support the hyperlink action for opening a separate PDF document.
    Adobe Reader for iOS
    Adobe Reader for Android
    Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8
    In addition, the Reader mobile products do not open multiple windows/documents simultaneously, which would make the navigation between PDF documents nearly impossible. (Once a hyperlink takes you to a different PDF document, you have no way to go back to the original PDF document.)
    The only Adobe Reader product that fulfills your department's requirements is Adobe Reader XI (mostly for Windows/Mac desktop/laptop computers).  Acrobat Pro and Standard are paid products.
    Because you are in search of a less expensive device for your department, you could get a Windows tablet instead of a Windows desktop/laptop computer. Microsoft Surface Pro (that you've mentioned in your previous reply) is just one example.  You can also find other less expensive Windows tablets.
    Tablets
    However, please keep in mind that there are two different types of Windows tablets running two different operating systems.
    (a) A Windows tablet with an Intel-based processor running Windows 8.1 Pro
    Example: Surface Pro 3
    You can install and run traditional desktop apps (e.g. Adobe Reader XI) and new Windows Store apps ("Modern" or "Metro-style" apps).
    (b) A Windows tablet with an ARM-based processor running Windows RT 8.1
    Example: Surface 2
    You can only install and run Windows Store apps (e.g. Adobe Reader Touch) but not traditional desktop apps like Adobe Reader XI.
    In general, type (b) tablets are more affordable than type (a) tablets.  However, if you want to run Adobe Reader XI, you do need to check the technical specification of each tablet and make sure the following conditions are met.
    Processor: Intel
    Operating system:  Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 8/8.1 Pro, not RT
    Hope this helps you choose the right device for your department.  Please let us know if you have any questions about system requirements or supported features in the Adobe Reader products.
