Problem opening multiple .tdms files in subroutine

Heya-
I'm using LabVIEW 8.2, professional development system.
I'm using the Open / Read / Close TDMS functions as part of a subroutine in a larger program.  The subroutine is supposed to open one of several TDMS files (each of which contains bulk data saved previously), extract the data, then restructure into a 3D array, which is passed back to the main program.  The particular file TDMS file to open is controlled by the main program.  The TDMS Close function is used after the data is extracted.
When running solo, the subVI performs as expected.  When running as a subVI, it functions fine on the first call, but subsequent calls to open different data sets fail to actually open the TDMS file (or at least, the Read TDMS function generates an empty array).  However, returning to the orginal file that was opened, the subVI works fine - it opens the TDMS file.  It doesn't matter which file was intially used - whichever one was opened first functions fine, any others do not.  That would make me think that the first TDMS file isn't being closed, except that I am using the Close TDMS function after reading.
Attached are the subVI (TDMS_to_3D_array), a quick test program that uses the subVI, and a .zip of two data sets
Not sure if the global variables located in the SubVI will default, so they are: UpperMaxCol: 55, UpperMinCo: 0, UpperMaxPixel: 48, UpperMinPixel: 6
Thanks in advance for the help
Dan

Hi Dan,
Perhaps you would try a few things.
Use the TDMS Flush VI in the subVI before the TDMS Close VI.
Try running the program with the subVI open.
Wire the TDMS File refnum from the subVI back to the parent and observe its value as the program switches between TDMS files.
Perform the TDMS read in the parent VI, wire the TDMS Data and the Array Size of the TDMS dataset to the subVI.  Does this make any difference?
Try the subVI without the Channel Name string indicator.
Include error cluster wires throughout the entire subVI.  Wire them through the TDMS VIs, then through the nested For structures, and then back to the parent VI.
Let us know what happens.

  • Not opening multiple RAW files

If i open a Raw file in Bridge, it opens up perfectly. Also my jpegs and tiff open in RAW, so no problem there. The problem is, that I cannot open multiple Raw files from Bridge into Raw with the option "open in Camera Raw" So the shortcut cmd+R ( I am on a mac) does not work. It says that Raw has to be opened at least once. I have been using Raw for years now so it has been opened multiple times.
I Can not seem to find a solution. I would really like to open up multiple edited Raw files at once, and in Raw give the order to rename them into JPEG. If you do that, you see Photoshop CC and a window that says how many convertions are left. So far so good...  but before, I was able to open up some new raw files in Camera Raw without having to wait for Photoshop to convert everything. Now I have to wait for a long time before I can make my new Edits. Can somebody please help me?
I am using all updated software.

    Hello SSPRENGEL,
Thank you very much for your reply. My apologies for the mess up with RAW and ACR naming.
The situation is, that I can not open any file with CMd-R. I can open single files with CMD-O. But I need to open multiple files at ones with CMD-R. It used to work good.
The problem is, That I am in the business of school photography. I take the pictures as RAW files on an Nikon camera (nef) After I ajust all the pictures, I have to rename all of them to JPEG, just to get them online.
I used to do that with ACR. But now the problem is, if I open a lot of picures with CMD-O, It opens up very good in ACR and I still can give the command to save all of these as JPEG. It workt great, but I have to wait a looooooong time before I can open up my next batch of pictures and start to adjust those. Normally, it would save the files as JPEG and I was able to open up a new batch of pictures in ACR right away. That saves me A LOT OF TIME. This only works if you can open the files with CMS-R. Strange...
I updated my I-mac to 10.9.1 so I see that is not the newest. PS-CC is 14-2-1 x64 and I am using the beta ACR for now (8.4)
I just tried to open a RAW file in photoshop with the normal open command and it lauches ACR perfectly. But again from within Adobe bridge I still get the same error about needing to open a qualifying product at least once.
    Stange isn't it?
Thank you very much for your time!

  • Problem opening multiple pictures in Photoshop

Problem opening multiple pictures in Photoshop.  OldBob1957 has given me some suggestions on how to overcome this problem.  I tried to Edit.Purge>All, Reset Preferences, Delete the Adobe Photoshop x Prefs.psp folders and Ctrl+Alt+Shift on Photoshop startup.  Did not work, what next?  Delete all the PSP folders.?  There are 45 more in my computer.  Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi Noel:
I reset the max memory to the high side as suggested but the results when I opened the pictures and changed them was the same.  I could open four but nto the fifth one.

PS:  In the event you haven't seen the start of the problem, I thought I would include it here:
I am working on a picture file, jpegs, changing the size, the level, etc. I open several pictures usually
3 or 4 and when I try to open the next I receive a pop up error message that says: "Could not
complete your request because of a program error.” This has just started to happen recently,
probably since I upgraded to CS6. Previously I could work on a file and have 100 or so pictures
open and still be able to open additional pictures. I have downloaded and in installed all available
updates and the message I receive when I check for updates is: “Your applications are up-to-date
as checked less than a minute ago.” I tried to Edit>Purge>All, Reset Preferences, Deleted the
Adobe Photoshop Ver. 6 Prefs.psp folder and pressed Ctrl+Alt+Shift on Photoshop startup and
deleted Adobe Photoshop Settings file. Did not work, what next? Delete all the PSP folders? There
are 45 more in my computer. Any help will be appreciated.

  • How can I open a tdms file and replace a subset of data then save that change without re-writing the entire file again?

    Hi all,
Is it possible to open a tdms file and make a small change an an array subset then save the file without having to save the whole dataset as a different file with a new name? That is to say, is there something similar to "Save" in MS Word rather than "Save As"... I only want to change a 1D array of four data points in a file of 7M data points.
I am not sure if this make sense? Any help is apreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jack

You can use either one, but for your application, I would use the synchronous.  It requires far less setup.  When you open the file, set both enable asynchronous and disable buffering to FALSE to enable you to use synchronous with arbitrary data sizes.
    Attached code is LabVIEW 2011.

  • Open Multiple PDF files from Production order/Routing

    Hi Everyone
We are in ECC 6.0 environment. We have a scenario where multiple documents were attached to single operation and also at multiple operations. But when I was trying to open these PDF documents, only the last file was getting opened and closing the previous file. How can I open multiple PDF files at one time from Production order or Routing?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards
    Prasad

    Hi Prasad,
from DMS standard I regret but such a functionality is not available. In the standard originals can be opened only one after another.
I think for realising this functionality an individual modificatoin is necessary.
    Best regards,

  • Unable to open multiple PDF files in Acrobat 9 Pro - Vista

I have a staff member that is unable to open more than one PDF at a time.  If a PDF is currently open and another one is selected the program will crash and close.  It gives a message stating the program has crashed and must be closed and also gives an option to check online for a solution.  Has anyone else seen this issue or know a fix for it?  Thanks in advance.

No. Starting with Acrobat 9 it is no longer possible to open multiple PDF files in the same window.

    Hi George ,
Is it happening with all the PDF' or any specific one?
Could you please share the error message so that we can replicate at our end ?
Try repairing reader  once and see if that fixes the issue.

  • Query multiple TDMS Files

    Hi,
I would like to evaluate the option of using TDMS files instead of an SQL database.
I will need to simply extract/query results that follow some conditions from multiple TDMS files.
I found many articles but could not find one example of how to extract data from multiple tdms files.
Should I have Data Finder or DIADEM ? or can I simply use LabVIEW ?
I am attaching a simple VI that generates 50 TDMS files (at the same folder as the VI), with "random" properties ('Title' and 'Type') and "random" data colums ('Temperature', 'Channel', 'Power').
Save the VI in a new folder and Run it. it will generate 50 TDMS files (see block diagram).
Now, considering those files, (for example) how can one extract only the the data where Test='Test2'  and Type='Type1' and (Temperature=25 or Power>0.4) ?

The DataFinder toolkit is awesome when dealing with TDMS report indexing.  Lots of good stuff can be done with report look ups.  Find me a report that was made after this date, before this date, made on this PC, running this version of software, for a UUT ran in this nest location, with this operator name, that failed.  Queries like that can be made very easily once the indexing is complete.
As for pricing.  It is included with the developer suite, but I'm pretty sure it isn't included with any professional, or full package.  If you go to a page like the PID Fuzzy Logic Toolkit you'll see in bold at the top it says it is included with Full and Professional.

The DataFinder page doesn't have this.

Oh and there are several examples found in the Example Finder.  Download a trial and see if it is worth it.
According to here, the DataFinder Toolkit is an add-on that is included in the Developer Suite.  So it looks like Hooovahh is correct.

  • Lightroom 1.4 - problem opening up NEF files

    Hi there,
I've been having problems opening up NEF files in Lightroom 1.4, a message keeps coming up saying that the file is not recognised. I'm using a MacBook Pro and can't get a solution - can someone please advise on the best course of action?
    Thanks!

    >a Nikon D3
I don't think that one is supported in LR 1.4. The camera was released after LR 1.4 was released. To get support for that camera, either upgrade to LR 2 or convert the NEF files to dng using the free DNG converter that you can download from http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/

  • Read multiple tdms files

    Two questions:
    1) how can i rename the different signals in the tdms file? Now they are names "untitled x". I am looking for an elegant solution, because i record about 200 different Signals.
    2) Is there an "easy way"  to select, read and concatenate multiple TDMS files to show them in a graph?

I had a similar goal with grouping plots and  rearranging them on the X-axis, so I put together this pretty quickly to search a range of TDMS files for a specific channel, should be able to adapt it pretty easy to suit your needs, once you manage to rename your channels.

  • I am using PSE 9. I had no problem opening my Raw files from my Canon Rebel XT  Now  I have a Rebel 5ti and pse 9 won't reconize the Cr2 files

I am using PSE 9. I had no problem opening my Raw files from my Canon Rebel XT  Now  I have a Rebel 5ti and pse 9 won't reconize the Cr2 files

    See this faq:
FAQ: Will Photoshop Elements work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?
That will explain why each new camera model uses its own raw format. (.CR2 does not indicate a format, only a Canon family of formats).
The first link tells you what version of camera raw is needed for your camera : https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
    You need ACR 7.4
The second link tells you which ACR versions are supported by Elements versions Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    PSE9 supports version 6.5
Further down on that paper, you get links to download the free Adobe DNGconverter for Mac or Win.
This standalone software can batch convert a whole folder of raw files to the DNG raw file format that your present PSE9 can read.
Otherwise, you would have to upgrade to version 10 or later.

  • Opening multiple movie files to play sequentially.

Currently, if I highlight several movie (e.g. .avi) files in a Finder window and then double-click on one of them, each of the files is opened in a separate QuickTime window and if I have "automatically play movies when opened" QuickTime preference set, then they all start playing simultaneously!
How do I change it so that opening multiple movie files results in them being played sequentially in a single window?
P.S. I have "Open movies in new players" preference is disabled.
P.P.S. For image files it all works correctly - they are opened in Preview and I get an option of starting a slideshow...

    Hi,
I'm not on a Mac at the moment to test, but I could have sworn you used to be able to open one movie, pause it and then drag and drop subsequent movies onto that window to append them to the end.
Give it a try. Sorry if I've been imagining things though
