Problem printing TAB character in Oracle Report Concurrent

Hi All!!
I have a problema with my Oracle Report Concurrent. I made a simple example:
DATA MODEL: select '@' || fnd_const.tab || '@' from dual;
Then i did a layout for this report with this field.
The problem is that when i do a "View Output" from the Requests Form the TAB character does not being showing and it's being replaced with spaces.
What could be the problem ??
The system is Oracle E-Businnes Suite 11i, Oracle Report Builder 6.0.8.27l. OS = SunOS
Thanks!!
Pablo.

What is the value of "fnd_const.tab"? Does it contain any special characters?
Is the issue with viewing only, or with printing only or with both?
What if you download the concurrent request output file from the server, can you see the value in the file?
What is you print the concurrent request output file from the server using lp command, can you see the value in the print out?
Thanks,
Hussein

  • Problem when converting to pdf - Oracle Reports 6i

    Hi all,
    Im using Oracle reports 6i and Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.5.0 - 64bit Production.
    In My database NLS_LANGUAGE is GREEK & NLS_CHARACTERSET is EL8MSWIN1253.
    So i have greek language texts in the database..
    When run the report, in the previewer the greek letters are fine,
    But when i try to convert it into PDF, all the greek letters are not supported and letters are unknown characters.
    i tried following,
    SRW.DO_SQL ('ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE = '||'''GREEK''')
    But still same problem....
    Any workaround on this.. ?

    Hi O.Developer,
    I have set the greek language in the registry already, but still same problem persists.
    In the Registry, i have the following value same as i have in the database nls parameters,
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE ->ORACLE -> ORACLE_HOMES -> NLS_LANG -> AMERICAN_AMERICA.EL8MSWIN1253.
    EL8MSWIN1253 is GREEK.
    I could store greek values in the database and i can retrive it in the forms and reports as well.
    My only problem is, when i try to convert the report into pdf, it is unknown characters.
    And also i tried with modifying the file uifont.ali. But still no result...
    Any other try is there to overcome ?

  • Print another PDF inside Oracle Report

    We print an oracle report to PDF via oracle Forms, some customers have seperate PDFs that they want to link to the run oracle report.
    Ideally they want to merge the two into one document. Has anyone had any exprience of this or know of annyway to acheive it?
    I know there are a few 3rd party software providers that caim to merge 2 pdfs but wondered the community thoughts?
    Thanks

    I did do a search and found the itext librarys but also when searched with oracle found that others were looking for ways to build it into the oracle application server.
    I wondered if this had been something that Oracle had looked into acheiving that is all and when you suggested i look at examples i didnt know if you meant an oracle example.
    Thanks ill review the website and see if i can get what i need.

  • Print in character mode with Reports 6i

    No matter what I do, when I try to print a report made in character mode the .prt file is not applied, I changed de initial value of desformat to de desired printer configuration, but nothing, I even change de dflt.prt, and made de width larger but it still prints with de default configuration.
    If anyone can help me.
    Thx.
    David.

    hi dear,
    actually i faced this problem b4. ok let me give u full procedure that I apply to make my reports be printed in .txt file as i want it.
    humm...first of all if u are creating reports using report wizard plz make sure u select Template = "Character Mode"
    and if not using report wizard as I don't use he he he..then
    ok ...let go...
    1. open property palette for report module
    - set unit of measurement = Centimeter (it's not that imp but i do)
    - now go at last section in that prop. pale. and set "Design In Character Units" = "Yes"
    2. in Data Model goto system parameters
    - Desformat = "dflt" (it's default)
    - desname = "d:\h1.txt" (or whtever u like it;'s use full while development)
    - destype = "File" (so u will get your report directly into the file specified at desname)
    - mode = "Character" (obviously..he he he)
    ok now step 3
    3. layout model
    -> main Section
    - humm now let say u want your report to be 150 char in width
    so just see there u will find width = 21.59 and in char mode (down in that prop.
    pale.) report width = 80
    so it's very simple maths 150 char => 40.48125 got it....
    now that's all he he he
    Enjoy your report with 150 char width...wht else... ok ok ok let me give u a copy of my dflt.prt (as it's also having it's impact on this...issue :)
    DFLT.PRT
    ========
    printer "dflt"
    height 68
    width 208
    linefeed control(J)
    ===============
    ok and yeah try to see the output file into word pad or some like...dont' try it using notepad as i am not sure how will it look (:-o)
    bcoz I am actually creating this reports to be transferd to solaris so i removed line return (i.e. control(M)) .u can keep it ok...
    so....if any prob just contact...
    Enjoy Oracle...

  • Problems printing pdfs generated by Crystal Reports X

    The printers in our office area were recently upgraded to Xerox Work Centre 5632 printers using Managed Print Service.  We are now having issues printing reports from within the application to any of these newly defined printers.  The Arial font, which is commonly used on the majority of our report templates, is displaying as a series of squares with readable letters or numbers thrown in randomly.   I don't know if the issue is limited to Arial, or if other fonts behave similarly.  I have tried to print several different reports to several different print servers and printer combinations, all with the same result. When viewing the report online, or saving as PDF and viewing, it looks fine.  If we save the report as a PDF, then select "print as an image" (on the advanced tab of the print menu), the report will print correctly.
    Is there any way to either change the report design or a setting in Crystal Reports to prevent this from happening ? This problem did not occur when using a different printer.

    This is not a Crystal Reports issue.  It is a printer (or printer driver) issue.  Does the printer support Arial font???

  • Print Word File from Oracle Report Builder 6.0

    Dear All
    I am using Reports 6 , I have a requirement that i have to print a word document (somewhere around 8 to 9 pages) after printing a report is there any way to execute the same. The word file has the details like agreement , etc so each and every time when i print that particular report , i want to print the contents also which is there in word file. If possible please tell me the steps to do. Thanks in Advance.
    V.Sat

    Possibilities are a bit limited. You can embed a word file as an OLE object in Reports.
    However, OLE can only display one page. So, you have to split your original documents in several one page documents. Put each page in a separate OLE field.
    You can also put the OLE pages (again, single pages only) in a BLOB in the database. In a query you select the pages from the BLOB.
    You have to store the pages through Forms, though. You cannot simply upload them to the table through pl/sql.

  • PRINTING BLANK PAGE IN ORACLE REPORTS 6I

    I am Printing statement on a double-sided stationary capable printer. To ensure that each new statement starts on a new physical paper, I need to add a blank page if the previous statement had an odd number of page size. How can I do that. Please Help.

    First, thanks for your response, but ...
    (1) I use this sentence in BeforeReport Trigger
    srw.run_report('report=ANA13F blankpages=no');
    and gives me the following error 'REP-1429:'beforereport':SRW.RUN_REPORT no puede ser llamado con lote=no' then I add a new parameter
    srw.run_report('report=ANA13F batch=yes blankpages=no');
    and then I get the following error 'REP-1428:'beforereport':Error al ejecutar SRW.RUN_REPORT'
    (2) In this case it doesn´t work because I set the global variable in a format trigger for frame M_1, which is inside panel 2 (1 vertical panel x 2 horizontal panels per page). With this value I try to hide Image_1 and Field_1 that are in the margin for the same panel. The first time it has to hide these objects it works for M_1 because of return(false) in the trigger and set the variable to NO, so the next pages appear blank as I want, but the in the first one only hides M_1, not Image_1 or Field_1. It seems I have to put the var in other place, but I don´t know where because it refers a field in M_1.
    Well, I don´t want to bother you, help as you can.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Font problem creating WORD document with Oracle Reports 8i/9i

    I created a report using different Arial fonts. Once the report is generated from a .NET application, the fonts in the word document are changed apparently into Helvetica. This disarrange my lay-out completely. How can I solve this problem?
    (NB. when I generate a PDF, there is no problem!)

    By the way. I create the files in this way:
       private void createFile(String outFileName) {
          try {
             ByteArrayInputStream result = clientDoc.getPrintOutputController().export(ReportExportFormat.PDF);
             File newFile = new File(outFileName);
             FileOutputStream output = new FileOutputStream(newFile);
             int bytesRead = 0;
             byte[] byteArray = new byte[10000];
             while ((bytesRead = result.read(byteArray)) != -1) {
                output.write(byteArray, 0, bytesRead);
             output.flush();
             output.close();
          } catch (Exception e) {

  • Problem in retrieving arabic data (Oracle Report Builder)

    Hi ,
    - When I built a report using report builder and click run paper layout icon, all retrieved Arabic and English data , labels, Header and Titles appear fine also font properties( font, size, bold) appear fine.
    But when click run web layout icon for the same report ,
    - all Arabic retrieved data appears ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? .
    - Arabic labels appear fine.
    - Headers and Titles didn’t appear at all .
    - All font properties( font, size, bold) don’t appear , I used many fonts like (Times New Roman, Arabic Transparent, Arial,…)
    - NLS_Lang in registry= american_america.ar8mswin1256 which supports English and Arabic languages.
    And I can insert and retrieve Arabic and English data from SQL+ and iSQL , so I feel that settings of NLS_Lang and
    CONTROL PANEL-REGIONAL STTING are correct.

  • Printing special character from report

    I was reading thru the other discussion on the same subject as I hv a similar problem. I am trying to print the character ' in a report. Note that it is not coming from the database. It is a hard typed character in the text of the report. It works fine on NT but doesn't work when we run the report under Unix. Currently our report server is on Unix so.. It just prints a '?'. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    I was wondering if there is a way to bypass
    Unix fonts and send the character to the
    printer using PL-SQL code in this
    particular case. Any idea?Ideas, maybe, answers, no. I haven't had
    that particular problem, but if I did, I
    would:
    1) First step: make sure you can generate
    a report that has the correct character
    code value and that your Unix OS doesn't
    force it to '?' because of US7ASCII.
    2) Second step: make sure the printer is
    given something it can understand; the
    character has to be in it's font palette
    too. Either it has to know what to do
    with B1 hex, or you have to put a header
    in your output file telling it how to
    interpret that.
    Good luck, sorry I couldn't help more.

  • Page reload/refresh after printing Oracle report.

    I have upgraded from version 3.0.1 to version 4.0.1 and I am having an issue.
    I have a page with a tabular form (SQL Query - updateable report) which allows me
    to select items I want to print.
    The report looks like the following:
    Name          Print
    Template 1     Y/N
    Template 2     Y/N
    Template 3     Y/N
    Template 4     Y/N
    The print column is a static LOV with a 'Y' or 'N' option.When I submit the page, a MRU runs and sets a flag for each item I want to print in the database.
    It then branches using "Branch to URL Identified by Item (Use Item Name)". The URL specifies an Oracle report
    server and the oracle report to print.
    All this works fine and the items that were selected, print out. An Oracle Reports Job Status is displayed
    on screen (this originates from the oracle report server) to indicate that it has "successfully run" along with
    an OK button. The OK button contains the following code: javascript:history.back()
    A process also exists on the page ("On Load - Before Regions") that resets any flags that were set in the database
    when the page is loaded and so the report will displays all N's in the Print column.
    Now my problem is that in version 3.0.1 when I hit the OK button it would return to the page in the apex
    application that branched to the oracle report and the page would be reloaded, where as in version 4.0.1
    the page is not reloaded.
    Any ideas how to fix this or can someone suggest a new way of achieving the same result.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Ryan

    Hi Prabodh,
    I have used Debug mode and I see 2 debug entries added.
    The first is just displaying all the page defaults - (I think the page gets reloaded when you select debug from the developer menu)
    The second is the SUBMIT request and it shows the initial value of the hidden item (ie null) and then where I changed its value (ie Y).
    The problem is, it does not list an entry for the page when it returns from the Report Status page, so I have no way of knowing if anything is
    changing its value. I even changed code to set the item to N instead of null and then to Y on submit. But when I return from the Status page
    the value remains at N, even though if I check the Session State values it will say Y. The only conclusion I can come to is that it is using the
    cached values and effectively just displaying the values set before I submit the page.
    I have been playing around with iFrames and it seems to work the way I want.
    I created a new Page (5), then a HTML region. Within the HTML region i have the following code
    <table>
    <tr>
      <td>
       <iframe src="&P1_URL." width="500" height="300"></iframe>
      </td>
    </tr>
    </table>I also create a button (Return) + branch and on submit will return to page 1.
    From page 1, instead of branching to a URL, I now branch to page 5. This loads the Report Status page into my iFrame and indicates that it was
    successful, but now instead of using the OK button within the status page I use the Return button that is part of the Apex application.
    This way I no longer need the javascript or hidden items to try refresh the page , it will be done automagically once the return button is pressed.
    I know it may not look great but it is the only solution I can get to work at the moment.
    Thanks again for all your help, I really appreciated it.
    Regards,
    Ryan
