Problem resizing group of objects
I was trying to resize a grouping of simple objects and hit some sort of limit as to how small it would go. It would resize larger but not smaller than some seemingly arbitrary size. Did a cut&paste (with cmd-N) into Preview and then cut&paste back into Keynote. Now the grouping will go smaller in Keynote and also into Pages. Does anyone know what this size limit thing is and how to avoid it?
It was a grouping of simple shapes; lines, ellipses, a few polygons, some fill here and there. That's it.

Hi,
i had several objects that i group.
when i try to resize the "new" objects group, it already has:
W : 16384 px
H : 16384 px
so the maximum possible even if on the screen it is only 200 px width by 50 px height.
where is the problem ?
moreover how can i fix it or how can i resize it correctly now ?
thx.That is the only way I know of.
If you do want to scale one visually with the info palette open, write down that scale value, then scale the balance of the items with transform each.
A related way is if you used symbols, you could go and edit the symbol, and all instances would update. -
I have a document with a collection of grouped drawing objects. They used to be floating objects and I have now converted the entire group to be inline. Unfortunately it is slightly wider than the page and hence I try to resize it but the group only seems to constrain itself to doubling in width. This can be seen here:
http://www.zedkep.com/stuff/pagesresizemouse.mov
http://www.zedkep.com/stuff/pagesresizeinspector.mov
Any ideas? Someone want to ... y'know ... fix this?
DaveI don't hate Pages, but I don't use it because it is so extraordinarily difficult to do anything useful with. Something I find ridiculously frustrating but addictive.
Typically if I don't fawn over it and praise it for what it is not, you describe that as hate.
It is the old "love it or leave it".
As to the generalisation, maybe, but it is something which I have frequently experienced so I can't help noticing, and as another generalisation, not something Americans like to talk about. Another topic for censorship.
Given the absurdities of the last 8 years, it seems that this is why you missed out on a lot that was obvious all round.
I first encountered it at a Mac User Group many years ago where an American friend got over the top angry at an article in a magazine and immediately threatened to cancel his subscription. I thought what an odd reaction, and asked him should the magazine perhaps poll him first as to what he would like to hear, then only tell him that?
Then, as now, it went straight over his head.

Resizing grouped objects keynote
In keynote I would like to be able to resize grouped objects without maintaining proportionality - is this possible?
The "Constrain Proportions" button is greyed out for grouped objects for me.
I'm using version 6.2Why can't I resize grouped objects in the new Keynote without constraining proportions
The only people who can give an informed answer are the Apple engineers, however they don't post in the user to user community.
Keynote 5.3 certainly could do this, but the latest version of Keynote is a completely separate application with different tools and features and file format.
You can let Apple know of your concern by using: Apple Feedback -
I really think I may have lost it on this one. I am having
problems resizing any object inside of illustrator. Normally when i
use my selection tool, There is a box around the whole object that
I can click and drag to resize. It's not there, and consequently, I
can resize anything without going to
Object>Transform> Scale... and that's just too much.
Is there a setting I somehow messed with that did this? I am
completely lost. I dont even have a clue what is goin on anymore.
Any help would be much appreciated!You may have hit CTRL+SHIFT+B which hides the bounding box
around objects. so hit CTRL+SHIFT+B again to see if that fixes the
issue. You can also find it view/ under "Show
Rulers"

How I can to resize grouped object using absolute dimensions?
I tried that but I'm newbie into Applescript
tell active document
tell group items "<gruppo>" of layer 1 of page 1
set absolute horizontal scale to 55 as real
end tell
end tellOk, half of the problem is solved with this code:
tell application "Adobe InDesign CS5.5"
open "Macintosh HD:Users:matteo:Desktop:template.indd"
tell active document
tell group "MyGroup"
set properties to {horizontal scale:50, vertical scale:50}
end tell
end tell
end tell
Now I like to resize using 4 parameters: X and Y coordinate, width and height in millimiters: How I can do?
Anyone can help me? -
Is there a way to show/hide a group of objects that will work in html5?
I consider myself to have a fairly decent understanding of captivate and its functions but this recent issue has stumped me.
I have a button with javascript attached to it that runs a typical if loop: (pseudo code to follow)
if(variable = 1){
show "group" and variable = 0;
} else{
hide "group" and variable = 1;
Now normally, I would do this with single images, etc, and it would work fine. You click the button (the image being unticked where it says "visible in output") and the image shows itself, then you click the button, and it hides. Very standard stuff.
My issue, is that captivate seems to let you name a group you make....but they have not given you any control of that group.
Problem:
I want a way to show and hide a group of objects by only clicking one button (when published to html5).
I want to only have to reference the group and dont want to need to write a separate line of code for every single component that makes up that group (assuming the solution has to be coded).
Is it even possible to control groups like this within captivate?
Thanks!There is an adobe video that I think shows how to do exactly what you are asking.
This is the video link:
Lightbox-style Menu in Adobe Captivate 6 - YouTube
At about 10min 50sec, it goes over creating a group from a number of single elements.
At about 12min 30sec, it shows creating an action that turns the whole group on and another to turn the group off.
When I did this myself, I used just one action that toggled the group on or off, but they show it as two actions. The idea is the same.
I hope that helps. Apologies if I mis-understood the issue. -
I am looking at an issue with users not getting specific group policies.
After searching a number of client computers I found that the following error
The user '*' preference item in the 'User - 6th Form Students Policy {E03166E7-A848-48B5-AA93-97B848AA9C13}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070003 The system cannot find the path specified.' This error was suppressed.
I can find the folder in the Sysvol folder on all of the domain controllers.
The issue with end users seems to be that the proxy settings for internet explorer is not being applied.
Potential problems?
one folder in sysvol entry is empty

In administering this policy I am a little confused.
We have a policy that distributes proxy settings in the internet explorer maintenance settings section - however when opening this policy up in GPO editor the internet explorer maintenance section is not present.
I plan to apply the settings via User/preferences/control panel settings/ internet settings (or registry settings from article) however I am unable to edit the settings for internet explorer maintenance and these will persist. Ideas???? -
Problem in Importing Configuration object
Dear All,
I am facing the problem while importing ID object.
Business system INTEGRATION_SERVER_XIP is not assigned to a business system group with the ID (XISystemGroup).
So , I just try to create a Group in Business System in SLD. But I could not find the option to create the System Gourp.
I could n't see <b> edit groups </b>
any clue..
Regards
DanabHi,
First, you have to start the SLD.
To create a group, proceed as follows:
> Business Systems
> Click on the drop-down next to Group and select Edit Groups
> Create a group for each environment (eg DEV, TST, PRD). Specify for each group which Integration Server is used.
To assign business systems to a group, proceed as follows:
> Business Systems (Group = all)
> Select your Business System
> Click on the Integration tab.
> Select the related Integration Server (which is associated with a group - see step 1)
To map your DEV Business Systems to TST Business Systems etc., proceed as follows:
> Business Systems
> Select the group of your choice
> Select your Business System
> Click on Transport
> Click on Add/Change Target
> Select the Target Group and System

Cursor not understanding to jump below "pasted in" group of objects...
Hi,
So I have one large text box on the page and am pasting in the content bits at a time. Now, I have pasted in a group of objects. I am ready to continue pasting in more copy below the group, but the cursor does not understand to jump down below the last items pasted in - e.g. the group.
In order to position the copy, I need to hit return / enter on the keyboard quite a few times for it to be positioned below the group. This is incorrect and will mess up the flow. I want everything to flow as I add more / subtract content.
How do I get the cursor to "know" to keep moving forward and to go around the group and blink on the line directly below the grouping of objects?
Thank you.Aha, I suppose this is where the text wrap comes in handy to solve the problem. (I started thinking in Quark terms with its 'runaround' feature.)

be deployed by group policy. Dreamweaver, Flash, Contribute, Flash
Video Encoder and Flash Extensions Manager all install fine however
Fireworks will not, looking in the event log it doesn't even
attempt to install. All folders have the same permissions, the MSI
& MSTs are all part of the same Group Policy Object using the
"Software Installation" method with the same permissions.
Fireworks will install using MSIEXEC from the command line so
the package and mst are fine.
Has anyone else come across this problem?
Thanks
MattWe are having the same issue here at our NSW High School. I
have traced the problem to be that Fireworks wants to deploy in
Chinese (instead of English) and because of this it will not
install. I am looking for a way to convert the msi file to an mst
so I can choose English as the default install language.
Hope this info is useful -
Result set problem with GROUP BY
hi there, this should be the simplest of queries but.........
when run, the list size is 13, this is the number of letting units in the table. it appears not to be grouping by the property id.if it was doing this there should only be 8 rows. having said this, the while loop should output the count of each row, it does this 8 times with the correct counts. it then crashes with a invalid curser error. it appears the query is workig correctly but the resultset thinks its got 13 rows when it only has 8.
accessing ms access db
using jdbc:odbc
heres the code
searchResults = stmt.executeQuery(
"SELECT Count(*) AS FreeUnits " +
"FROM letting_units " +
"GROUP BY letting_units.property_id");
searchResults.last();
listSize = searchResults.getRow();
searchResults.beforeFirst();
System.out.println(listSize);
while (searchResults.next())
System.out.println(searchResults.getString(1));
hope someone can help me
cheers
andyIt's not the problem with GROUP BY. You should use scrollable result set to move in both directions (forward and backward).
In your code
searchResults.beforeFirst(); line may return false. So you will get the searchResults.next() false. Once you move forward in non-scrollable cursor cannot come back. So when you create the statement object use TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE or TYPE_SCROLL_SENSITIVE constants provided in the ResultSet. -
Warping a group of objects without deformation
I have a group of objects which i want to warp in a certain shape without the objects themselves being deformed.
These objects are squares and circles which are standing on a grid, only the grid needs to be warped, the objects need to stay in the same shape.
Is there a tool in illustrator with which I can achieve this effect?
many thanks in advance,
FrederikMany thanks for all the suggestions.
I tried them all but unfortunately it isn't exactly watch I am looking for.
To make my exact question even more clear i made a new visual which explains my problem even better .
I would like to warp the visual underneath number A, it consists out of squares and circles.
When warping I would like the squares to deform, but the circles should stay in the same shape. (like in the visual underneath number B)
Unfortunately, when warping the circles deform into ovals. (as you can see in visual C)
Is there a way in which I can do this without having the circles to be added later on?
many thanks in advance,
Frederik

IPhone + Apple TV = Perfect Union
Wouldn't it be great to take advantage of the iPhone sensors and the Apple TV for playing games, surfing the web full screen, typing text rather than managing with the remote, among any other possibilities?
