Problem restoring my data?

I have perform a full erase and reinstalled Mountain Lion but can't transfer my old data from external hard drive backup, can anyone help?

Omar, can you try a different USB port on your PC?
Are you using the USB cable which came with your Z10?

No, you should not.  There are problems trying to go the other way, but updating a newer iOS release from a backup of an older iOS release has always been supported and is the basic means of setting up a new device from a previous one.

  • Problem restoring backup data

Backed up to iCloud just a few minutes ago (it took 30 minutes to complete) so I could wipe my iPod.  Wiped it but now it tells me the backup is unusable.  I get the same message with the previous two backups it did over the last couple of days.  I have successfully logged into iCloud on the computer.  I have attempted this a dozen or so times over the last half hour.
Any suggestions?  I'm a tad frustrated, thank God this isn't my phone.

    Hi
I have the exact same issue on my brand new iPhone 5s - allthough the massage i get is Could not log into the server. There is something wrong with the connection.
Did you get your issue solved?

  • I am having major problems restoring from Time Machine. The computer tells me I have completely restored but no data is available in the various applications.

I had backed up all my data to Time Machine, then securely deleted all data on my MacBook Pro and reinstalled Snow Leopard, prior to having Apple replace a faulty Airport card. I went through the normal restoration process from Time Machine, which took quite some time (about 2.5 hours for 240 Gb of data, including applications) without giving any indication of a problem. However, although the computer indicates that 240 Gb has been reinstalled on the hard drive, data such as photos, music, documents, IOS apps, movies, etc , is not showing up in the relevent application i.e. photos in iPhoto or mobile apps in iTunes. Even though application icons were visible in the dock, they would not open. I spent two days (one hour one day and five hours the next) at the Apple Genius Bar trying to find out what the problem was, without any success. No matter what was tried, no clear solution was evident so I was given a manual workaround to bring back banks of files one at a time, which has given me some workability. All data is obviously stored on the external hard drive, but restoration has not been successful. I have successfully used Time Machine to restore all data from a previous MacBook to my current MacBook Pro without any hitches whatsoever. The only difference this time is that I have two separate accounts on the Pro, which may be causing the problem. I can restore items manually from either account but they all go into one account. Also, when manually restoring photos or music from Time Machine, I am unable to select the relevent location for this data, i.e. iPhoto or iTunes. The only way I got these into the relevent application was by putting them into a burn folder or onto a thumb drive and then dragging them into the dock application. I am not very computer savvy and feel totally out of my depth to manually restore everything back to where it was before the clean install, particularly the two user accounts, which I would loke to have back again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Problem restoring LMS 2.6 data to LMS 4.0

    Hello,
I'm trying to migrate from LMS 2.6 on a Windows 2003 server to LMS 4.0 on Windows 2008 R2.
Two things I'll note here which might help future people attempting to use the LMS 4.0 backup/restore scripts as detailed in the migration document:
    1) Make sure nobody has installed cygwin on the server before you run the backup scripts. If they have, remove it and the reg keys.
    2) On the target server make sure to run the restore script CMD session using runas or disable UAC on Windows 2008 or the restore scripts will fail
My next problem I can't get past. I've been running the restore since yesterday morning and it still hasn't finished. It hasn't moved from 40% complete migrating the IPM data but in the last 24 hours it has eaten up 6Gb more RAM.

Should I just wait? Is this something that might take days if I've got a lot of IPM data or is it broken? I don't really care about keeping IPM data so could I do something to complete the data migration for everything else? Any advice appreciated.
    regards,
    Aaron

The restore can take a long time if you have a lot of data.  The problem is the database needs to be completely unloaded and reloaded to convert from ASA 9 to ASA 10.  However, if you do not care about IPM data, and you still have LMS 2.6 running, you can take a new LMS backup not using the wrapper.pl script (this will keep IPM from being backed up).

  • Time Machine restored wrong data

OK - the history here is the previous Macbook was replaced because of system problems, including many files with FUTURE dates (eg. 2037). Apple store agreed after repeated issues, they would replace the machine. We did a final time machine/capsule backup before taking it in.
Got the new Macbook and ran the Migration assistant to restore all data from the time capsule.
The data was not correct, and I suspect it was something to do with the future dates.
I can open the sparse bundle backup file and see the correct backup information, but I have no option when I open Time Machine to pick ANY previous backups.
This all started with Macbook problem, and I'm really thinking they should figure this out - but assuming they wont, I'm looking for suggestions on how to safely get the 'real' information recovered from Time Capsule.
    Thanks
    Dan

Possibly.  Migration Assistant uses the most recent backup, so if the dates were wrong, you may have gotten the wrong data.
You should be able to see the other backups -- but you may need to start from a different user account (Migration Assistant creates a new account, and the transferred account may not have permission to the backups.  See Problems after using Migration Assistant for an explanation.
A better option may be to do a full system restore, from a different backup.  See Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #14 for detailed instructions.  You'll want to pick a backup from before the dates went wrong.

  • Can't restore my data from hard drive with time machine

So basically I recently backed up my things on an external 1TB Seagate hard drive via Time Machine on my Mac. I then restored my Mac to its factory settings. However when I plugged in my hard drive it didn't show up in my finder. I opened Disk Utility and it shows up there but when I tried to restore my data it wasn't able to find it. This is so weird and I'm so scared can someone please help me

    vanessayu wrote:
And another thing, my mac is randomly turning off and then displaying a gray screen saying your mac shut down because of a problem. does this have someting to do with the disk
Sounds like the TimeMachine drive is defective.
Uplug it and reboot and see if your problems go away.
If your TimeMachine is broken it might be possible to do data recovery on it, you can take it to a local PC/Mac tech and they will image it so the files are accessible, then you can pick through the mess as long as it wasn't encrypted or Filevaulted.
TimeMachine uses a lot of placeholder files, basically the same name but minus the content of the files for each saved state.
It's a lot of work going through all the folders to find your original files but as long as the drive works the files should be able to be recovered.
Sorry about your problems, TimeMachine hasn't quite lived up to it's expectations and I try to warn everyone NOT to completely trust it.

  • How to restore app data?

Can anybody tell me, whether / how I can restore the data / configuration of an iPhone app (on the 3GS)?
More specifically, I've got a shopping app (ShopShop) on my iPhone.
I have carefully created a long shopping list.
    Accidentally, it is now deranged.
So I'd like to restore the state.
Is there any way to do it?
(I am familiar with Unix, so a bunch of Terminal commands would be fine.)
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

3rd party data is stored in the backup, so one way would be restoring from a backup, if you're using Time Machine it should be no problem, but you can't select just on app to restore, it's all or nothing.
Another way would be using this software here http://supercrazyawesome.com/ and see what you can do.

  • Restoring the data from table after deletion

    Hi,
If  I delete the data from the database (using delete command) , is there anyway to restore that data. I know it looks bit weird but I'm checking whether there is any technique in abap by which we can restore the data.
    Your help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kranthi.

    Hi Kranthi,
When you delete lines of a database table using the DELETE command, the process is only complete after a database commit. Before the commit, any database change can be reset using a database rollback. To be able to perform a database rollback, a database system must generate a copy of each database object before making a change. These copies are kept in a rollback log until the end of an LUW. An overflow of the rollback log always results in the termination of the transaction which caused it. For example, attempting to remind a large number of defaulting customers in the same transaction could trigger such an error. You can only solve this problem by dividing the set of database updates into several smaller units ( LUWs) for the database system. You use this statement if you cannot be certain that all the database changes have been executed correctly.
    For your information :
An LUW begins each time you start a transaction, when the database changes of the previous LUW have been confirmed (database commit) or when the database changes of the previous LUW have been cancelled (database rollback)
An LUW ends when the database changes have been confirmed (database commit) or when the database changes have been canceled (database rollback). Within an LUW, database changes are not made until after a database commit. Prior to this, any database change can be canceled by a database rollback.
    Cheers

  • Is anyone else having problems with Apertures Date fields?

After experiencing a sysems failure I began restoring my images from backups.  I have had no end of problems with Image dates.  I have come to the determination that Aperture is NOT using either the "Create Date" or "DateTimeOriginal" as the image "Date" or "Date Created" data if other fields have other dates.
Here is a clip from my image metadata using exiftool:
    Create Date                          : 2006:02:20 11:51:12.10
    Date/Time Original              : 2006:02:20 16:51:12.10
    Modify Date                          : 2006:02:20 11:51:12.10
And here is what Aperture utilized on import
    Date:                               9/23/12 7:53:15 PM EDT
    Date Created                         9/23/2012 7:53:15 PM
So Aperture utlized the File Modification Date/Time as the Create Date despite that the fact that the Create Date field is present and is properly formatted in the original image.
According to the Aperture mapping table, this shouldn't be happening.
Now, before someone recommends that I use Aperture's Date Adjust utility - I'm talking about  slightly over 30,000 images.  Editing images one at a time, or in blocks when you don't know what field Aperture is using as the Create Date would require individual inspection of each image followed by manual adjustment of each image.  That approach isn't acceptable.

Hmm ok, let me restate the issue then, I thought I was clear.  I could have pointed out in my original post however, that only the EXIF and IPTC date fields were displayed from the metadata dump.
The data set presented in my first post is the EXIF dataset from the file which clearly shows the image was captured by digital camera at
    Create Date                          : 2006:02:20 11:51:12.10
    Date/Time Original              : 2006:02:20 16:51:12.10
(The delta of 5 hours is the result of Zulu versus local time offset)
But, when I ingested it into Aperture, the import routine utilized the IPTC field
    File Modification Date/Time     : 2012:09:23 19:53:15-04:00
which is updated by the OS whenever you move the file around outside of Aperture. (a number of image data fields are updated by the OS - filename for example is another.).  This resulted in the image date fields being stamped in Aperture as:
    Date:                               9/23/12 7:53:15 PM EDT
    Date Created                         9/23/2012 7:53:15 PM
Which obviously came form the File Modification Date/Time field and not (either) the Create Date or Date/Time Original fields.

  • How can I restore my data from iCloud to my iPad?

Hi - I have noticed that all my calendar entries from January 2012 to the end of June have disappeared - I was advised by Apple to restore my data from the iCloud, where it is backed up - but this doesn't seem to have resolved the problem - please can anyone help?

When you restore from an iCloud backup, you have to erase the device first, then set up the iPad again using the iCloud backup. If you tried this and the entries did not download to the iPad - they are gone. They should be in the backup - but if they were not restored, then they apparently are gone.
If you still have access to a computer go to your icloud.com account using a web browser and look in the calendar to see if the entries are in there.

  • Problem Restoring Time Machine Backup

    Hi All,
I have just tried everything in the existing discussions but nothing seems to fix my problem. So I hope some brainiacs here can help me.
I have lost all my personal MobileMe calendars when I left the calendar beta. So then I wanted to restore my backup. I opened the finder and replaced all the folders and files containing iCal data (preferences, calenders folder, the works).
When I restart iCal after the backup has been replaced, I get to see my calendars for 5 seconds. Then it disappears again. The MobileMe section of my iCal shows the spinning wheel (why is it spinning?), and it's gone. My sync with MobileMe is turned off, so that's not the issue.
I have tried everything. And most frustrating is to know that all my calendars are nicely stored in my backup, but that I can't get to them!
    Thanks for any help!
    Niels

To restore from a TM backup select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for 'time machine.' From the list of articles select the one on restoring your data. Also:
See User Tips for Time Machine for help with TM problems. Also you can select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "time machine" to locate articles on how to use TM. See also Mac 101- Time Machine.
You cannot restore from a TM backup using the Finder. You must use the procedure you find outlined in the help article or in the user tips referenced above.

  • Can I restore my data?

    Hello everyone,
I am not an expert in the iPhone world and I am truly facing a big problem.I would be very thankful for any help. My iPhone 4s got stolen 4 days ago, how? I am not sure. I have 16 GB of important schedules, contact, photos and many other things and its all gone. I turned off my icloud long time ago, and I have never backed up my phone on iTunes. I am not sure what to do right now, but is there a way I can restore my data on my laptop or another iPhone. The only thing I have is my iTunes on my laptop.
    Thank you all in advance.

If you choose not to have a backup then you have nothing to restore from
And note this is the iPhoto for Mac forum - you probably need the iPhone forum but you are out luck because you are not making a back of your phone

I have a 6280 that I backup using PC Suite, I am interested in buying a 6120 Classic, if I do will I be able to restore my data from the 6280 to the 6120 with them being different os?

Nokia PC Suite handles both of the phones, so you should not have any problems doing that eventhough the one is a Symbian phone and the other one a Series 40 phones.
Experience and persistence are second to none just ask user one.

  • Char '¦' gets replaced with '|' in sp source when restoring a data base.

char '¦' gets replaced with '|' in sp source when restoring a data base. This makes the procedure put a character for separating a string different (|) from the espected one (¦). And this makes the application failed.
    Can anyone help me out?
    Thanks,
    Frank

I'll follow the thread in Data Base - General from now on.

Charset: ?? I'll will ask the data base guy. (we are preaty small). It is reported as a bug in my system, the thing is I usually do not program against this kind of bug. :)
Anyways, the usage is as follows, this guy uses an empty restore to install the database for application installation purposes.
instaed of running some scripts the test for the instalation is done as a restore.
import/export is the action being done here.
Again I use the ¦ char to separate a string array.
Something to consider is that the chars are:
    124 | and 166 ¦
They are both ascii aren't they?
Why would the impor/export change the char ¦ for |?
if is a charset problem why isn't the changed char a ? or a # or a 9 or a non printable char, instead it changes for a |.
