  • Problem Running SSIS Package with a SQL Server Agent

    SQL Server: SQL Server 2012
    VS: Visual Studio 2012
    Hello,
I have been having a problem running SSIS packages by using a SQL Server Agent job. I first created these SSIS packages in a separate IS project in Visual Studio. I imported the packages to the Integration Services (Package
Store) instance on my SQL Server and tried to create a job that would run them from there.
At first I read around about needing a proxy account to allow the agent/packages to access the file system since these packages are importing data from a flat file in the SQL database. So I created a temporary admin user to
use as the user for the agent. I did this by going to Services.msc on the server and linked the account the agent's "logon as". Then arose another issue where I am getting an error about using the incorrect type for my connection managers.
The connection manager "TestFile" is an incorrect type.  The type required is "OLEDB". The type available to the component is "FLATFILE". Source: Data Flow Task Flat File Destination [2]     Description:

I am not sure what this even means as I am getting this error even with a test package that doesn't do anything with the database. I have just two flat file connection managers  in this test project one for grabbing the source file and one for
    creating the new test file.
I am not sure what to do.

I did not have any Macromedia file in syetem 32 when I last replied to your question. I had uninstalled FP 11.8, but my embedded FP on Windows 8 was (and is) still showing in Control Panel Items but did not and does not appear when checking version on the Adobe Find Version page.
Before reading your last reply, I did UNinstall 11.8 and then installed flashplayer_11_7_plugin_debug   (FP 11.7.700.232).
This NOW shows up as Shockwave Flash ver. 11.7.700.232 in mozilla add-ons manager and is listed in system32 as a folder: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed with many files in the folder.
The Flash Player 11.7.700.232 worked on Mozilla FF 22.0 for several hours before not being able to play some flash content and then crashed. An odd window kept appearing while trying to use it, I did not copy the test of it, but will try and reproduce the problem, and copy and post the text here in a further discussion box on our discussion.  A subsequent check to Adobe Find Version page shows that FP 11.7.700.232 is CURRENTLY installed and functoning. But it still does not play all Flash content that I encounter on the internet.
I did NOT use the Adobe Full Installer to install Flash Player 11.7.700.232, I simply downloaded the file to desktop and manually installed it off line.
If I DO need to uninstall FP 11.7.700.232, and reinstall it using the Adobe Full Installer, please tell me in detail how because I thought that the Full Installer had a different version of FP in it.
What I mean is, if I download and run the Full Installer, is that also simultaneously installing a different version of FP? Or do I run it and THEN install FP 11.7.700.232?
Thank you for following along and replying, Pat. I am not very literate with PC's and the problem is likely something that I am doing wrong!

  • Credential problem while running with SQL job agent

    Hi,
SQL job agent fails to run when I change my computer login (Password) credentials information often.
How I can run the SQL job agent with Database login credentials.
    Regards
    Venkatesh S

    Hi Venkatesh,
If I understand correctly, you are using a proxy account has your login credential to run a step of SQL Agent Job. So when you change the login’s password, the credential of the proxy account has an expired password, then the proxy account doesn’t work in
    your job.
As per my understanding, we can only use SQL Server Agent Service Account or Proxy Account to run the SQL Server Integration Services Package steps in SQL Agent Job. Since the SQL Server Agent Service Account may not have required permissions to access the
resources in the packages, we recommend use Proxy Account. To create Proxy Account, we should create a credential first. To create a credential, we should specify a Windows user account. So we cannot use a SQL Server authentication login to run the job.
A good workaround is use a windows user account with a password that never expire or changes rarely or update the password of credential followed by your login.

How can I run a SQL script file from a location on my computer without providing the whole path?
Is there some way I can set a "Working folder" in SQL Plus??

You can create an environment variable called "SQLPATH" which is a list of directories that SQL*Plus will search for your .SQL

I would like to use another directory than the oracle/bin...
How can I do this ??
    Hello,
U can do this by this way:
Save odm_script.sql file to the default Oracle

Still does not work. I have allow MSDSTC in my firewall list.
    Hi dudskie,
Have you try to use DTCTester or DTCPing to verify MSDTC functionality over the network? Please refer to the following article:
    Troubleshooting Problems with MSDTC:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa561924.aspx
Use the DTCTester utility to verify transaction support between two computers if SQL Server is installed on one of the computers. The DTCTester utility uses ODBC to verify transaction support against a SQL Server database. For more information about
DTCTester see How to Use DTCTester Tool.
Use DTCPing to verify transaction support between two computers if SQL Server is not installed on either computer. The DTCPing tool must be run on both the client and server computer and is a good alternative to the DTCTester utility when SQL Server
is not installed on either computer. For more information about DTCPing, see
How to troubleshoot MS DTC firewall issues.

  • Calling from the application Slow vs. Running through SQL developer Fast

Alright, we write many applications that make use of calling stored procedures in packages to return data. This is the only time i have ever encountered this issue and have not been able to pinpoint the cause.
This application is very data-centric and is filled with calls to stored procedures and I would say about 80% run fine as in the time required to run is about the same as in SQL Developer maybe just a little slower due to the amount of data that may be returned to the application. The other 20% run horribly slow from the application and run lighting fast in SQL Developer and i cannot figure out why.
I have traced the code right up to the .Fill on the Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleDataAdapter and that is where it just holds either for a long period of time or just forever, some of these i haved waited hours for and they have not finished running.
For Example: I created a new page in the project and it makes a request through the use of ajax, when the request file is reached it performs two stored procedures from the same package (the only two procedures in the package). Both procedures take in three varchar2's and have an in out cursor, the cursor is returned into a datatable in the VB. The first query runs in a couple seconds returns the correct data etc. The second query, which takes .2 seconds on average to run from SQL Developer, just runs and runs and i have never actually even waited for it to finish because it takes so long. The specific example i am trying only returns 1 row with 7 columns, so there is not a large amount of data being passed back.
I have seen this sort of thing happen on occasions, but everytime it was usually because the package was not compiled and was waiting on a view to finish before compilation and after killing the view it was fine. But this issue seems to happen randomnly with certain procedures and not others all in the same package.
This issue happens on the same procedures everytime which would lead me to believe it is the procedure, but running them in SQL Developer shows me this is incorrect because they run exceptionally fast in some cases. I even went so far as to restart the entire database just in case there was some sort of lock causing this issue but this did not fix the issue.
I have verified parameters, cursors, debugged the procedures, stepped every line of code, tried deleting and readding the oracle.dataAccess reference. I can't seem to figure this one out.
It is causing alot of wasted time because i am forced to wait a horribly long time for these queries in order to test. If anyone has any clues, hints, or ideas as to what this could be please let me know! If the same issue exists when the application is moved into production it will be unnacceptable and the application utterly unusable.
Thanks in Advance for any help!
    -Jarrod

    Hi,
This is consistently reproducible with the problem procedure/operations? Total WAG here, but I've seen cases where having support for distributed transactions enabled causes the database to disable certain optimizations. Try setting Enlist=false in your connection string.
Otherwise, I'd recommend enabling 10046 database trace and client side sqlnet trace to capture the problem behavior for further investigation. Oracle support can certainly give you a hand with that if needed.
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

    Hi,
One prior post discussing the use of Java 7 is:
SQL Developer 3.0  and Java SE 7?
There is no need to uninstall any Java version (except if you have disk space constraints) and no problem switching between Java versions. This may be controlled in the sqldeveloper.conf file in your ...\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin directory via the SetJavaHome line. For example:
    #SetJavaHome ../../jdk
    SetJavaHome C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_26
    #SetJavaHome C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.7.0Regards,

  • SQL Procedure working when run manually, not running from sql server agent

I have a procedure that runs fine using the execute command in SSMS, however putting the same command in a job gives the following error.
line 9, character 9, unexpected end of input
The code takes a very long XML string in UTF-8 encoding and puts it into a single nvarchar(max) cell. Then puts this string into a XML cell in a different table, allowing me to query the individual parts of the XML code using the nodes function. I cannot put
the data directly into a nvarchar cell due to encoding differences.
I can't reproduce the string here as it is very very long.
I'm just looking for ideas really as to where it might be going wrong.
Here is what I know so far:
The procedure runs without issue when executed manually
I have checked permission issues, and that doesn't seem to be the problem. The agent runs under my own account and I am a sysadmin on the database
I split the procedure into seperate parts to locate exactly where the problem is occuring. Once again the seperate procedures run fine when executed manually but an error occurs when run through SQL Server agent.
When the query is run seperately through SQL Server Agent it gives a slightly different error. This leads me to believe it is an encoding issue. However I am getting the XML from a webpage and I can't change the encoding on the webpage.
line 1, character 38, unable to switch the encoding
I know this is a long shot since you can't replicate the issue but if anyone could give an idea as to where to start looking for an answer, it would be greatly appreciated.

Here's how I'm taking the XML data and putting it into an nvarchar(max) column (Column Name TEXT):
    Select @url = 'http://....'
    EXEC @hr=sp_OACreate 'WinHttp.WinHttpRequest.5.1',@win OUT
    IF @hr <> 0 EXEC sp_OAGetErrorInfo @win
    EXEC @hr=sp_OAMethod @win, 'Open',NULL,'GET',@url,'false'
    IF @hr <> 0 EXEC sp_OAGetErrorInfo @win
    EXEC @hr=sp_OAMethod @win,'Send'
    IF @hr <> 0 EXEC sp_OAGetErrorInfo @win
    INSERT #TextData(TEXT)
    EXEC @hr=sp_OAGetProperty @win,'ResponseText'
    IF @hr <> 0 EXEC sp_OAGetErrorInfo @win
    EXEC @hr=sp_OADestroy @win
