Problem "Session already invalidated" when logout?

Hallo,
for logout i'am using the following code
public String logoutButton_action() throws IOException {
FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
ExternalContext ectx = ctx.getExternalContext();
HttpServletResponse response = (HttpServletResponse)ectx.getResponse();
HttpSession session = (HttpSession)ectx.getSession(false);
session.invalidate();
response.sendRedirect("index.jspx");
ctx.responseComplete();
return null;
In JDeveloper i don't have a problem. But using this method under tomcat it produces the error getAttribute: Session already invalidated.
I know tomcat is not oracle but maybe someone had a tip for me.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
could you check the discussion in this forum thread:
ERROR attempting to call HttpSession.invalidate ()  in TOMCAT 5.5.9
I think your issue is similar.

Didier.

    You receive this exception when yo call to session.invalidate and the session is already invalidated. Many method in session throws this exception. You can find it in
    http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/2.2/javadoc/javax/servlet/http/HttpSession.html
    When you call call request.getSession(false) you can know if the user has any session. true - to create a new session for this request if necessary; false to return null if there's no current session

    hi everybody
    i am devloping one application in which i have written following jsp file
    usermater.jsp
    <%@page language="java" session="true"%>
    <%@include file="common.jsp" %>
    <%
    String uerrorMessage=(String)session.getAttribute("upasserrorMessage"); %>
    common.jsp has following code
    <%
    if (! session.getId().equals((String)session.getAttribute("TF.Server.Session.ID")) )
    session.invalidate();
    response.sendRedirect("timeout.jsp");
    %>
    what i want to do is Whenever user tries to access the usermaster.jsp page directly his session must be invalidated and he is redirected to the "timeout.jsp" page but when i am trying to access the usermaster.jsp page direclty i am getting the following error
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: getAttribute: Session already invalidated
    this is because in usermaster.jsp file i am trying to access the session variable
    String uerrorMessage=(String)session.getAttribute("upasserrorMessage"); %>
    How to invalide the user's session and how to avoid this error?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    bunty

    Okay at the top of th epage you invalidate the session and then do a redirect. But a redirect just sets a response header and doesn't prevent the rest of the JSP from running. Try putting a return directly after the redirect.
    <%
    if (! session.getId().equals((String)session.getAttribute("TF.Server.Session.ID")) )
    session.invalidate();
    response.sendRedirect("timeout.jsp");
    return;
    %>

    Probably the installation is taking a long time due to the remote connection. At the point of the install where it asks you to deploy the webapps and restart the application server, prior to restarting the application server you could raise the session timeout. You can find this in futuretense.ini in the WebCenter Sites installation directory, property cs.timeout. You can set it very high (hours) for the duration of the install, then lower it again afterwards if you wish.
    Installing can be painfully slow over remote connections e.g. X11 tunnelled over ssh. You could get a slight increase in speed by using arcfour cipher in ssh. For much better improvement you could use vnc on the server instead of X11 over ssh.

  • Session already invalidated

    I am running into an occasional session problem with one of my servlet applications. When this problem occurs, the HttpSession.setAttribute() method throws an IllegalStateException that the session has already been invalidated. My question is how do I handle this Exception. I would like to either revalidate the session, or just give the user a new session. See the code snippet below:
    public void service (HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res) {
    HttpSession session = req.getSession(true);
    try {
    session.setAttribute("mykey", "myvalue");
    catch (java.lang.IllegalStateException ex {
    //help requested here...
    //revalidate session or new session (assign to ServletRequest or ServletResponse??)
    }

    i think you won't be able to revalidate a ones invalidated session. invalidating a session includes dropping all session attributes...
    but normally the code
    req.getSession(true)you are already using should create a new Session object for the client if
    a) it didn't get a session yet
    b) its session has been invalidated
    sorry...

  • ERROR: Error in getting session data: Invalid or Expired Session

    Hi,
    We are using ssrs 2008 r2 and have a report which has links that allow the user to drill down.
    When the link is clicked the same report is run but shows more detail. This works fine but we are now getting the error below for a user.
    I have increased the time out for the report to 600 seconds.
    Error in getting session data: Invalid or Expired Session: fnxgxhjuveugvd552qfyv3fw
    session!ReportServer_0-6!4b0!03/18/2015-10:51:29:: i INFO: LoadSnapshot: Item with session: fnxgxhjuveugvd552qfyv3fw, reportPath: , userName: doman/user not found in the database
    Any ideas how this can be resolved?

    Hi Nasa1999,
    Based on your error message, If the all the users will sometimes got the same issue, it can be caused by the timeout issue. It happens a lot when rendering big report, and it exceeds the default Session Timeout. You can execute script
    to increase the Session Timeout time. Please refer to following blog:
    Session Timeout during execution. Also increase the value of <Query Timeout> in rsreportserver.config file. This file locate at XX:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer
    Please also check to set the <legacyImpersonationPolicy> back to true(https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/972328).
    Locate the Aspnet.config file in the following folder:
     %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727
    If Microsoft Visual Studio is installed on the computer that is running SQL Server 2005, double-click
    Aspnet.config. If Visual Studio is not installed on the computer, follow these steps:
            a. Right-click Aspnet.config, point to
    Open with, and then click Choose program.
            b. In the Programs list, click
    Notepad, and then click OK.
    Locate the following tag in the <runtime> section of the code.
            <legacyImpersonationPolicy enabled="false"/>
    Change the tag to:
            <legacyImpersonationPolicy enabled="true"/>
    Save the Aspnet.config file.
    Reset IIS.
    Try your report again.

    Hi,
    Can you try doing it again? delete and re drop?
    Have you checked that your bindings are ok?
    Do you have any errors on your fragment code?
    Did you try to drop it on a simple page to narrow down the problem?

  • Problems with custom authentication when migrating from 3.2 to 4.1.1

    Hi,
    we’re about to upgrade our APEX instances to 4.1.1 and to migrate our applications. I encountered some problems with our custom authentication schema.
    1.     Recognize already authenticated sessions: in 3.2 the sentry function could return false as long as the user was not authenticated. Public pages could still be displayed (including the login page). The result of the function apex_custom_auth.is_session_valid returned false until once the sentry function returned true. How can I recognize non authenticated sessions in 4.1.1? I looked for the test the Condition “User is the public user (user has not authenticated)” computes on a page but didn’t found the right one. It’s not what docu states here (comparison with the public user): http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21674/condition001.htm#HTMDB25943. I replaced the test with p_authentication.username = ‘nobody’. It works. But that doesn’t seem to me to be the right way …
    2.     Post_logout lacks session context: the Post Logout Procedure does not receive a session_id and username. Neither the V(‘APP_SESSION’) nor p_authentication.session_id are set. This applies to both plugin authentication schemes and non-plugin custom authentication schemes. Is there another way to obtain the logged-out sessions infos or is this a bug?
    See apex.oracle.com for a demo, workspace WS_MW, gast/gast. Can someone please guide me the way?
    Michael

    Hello again,
    there are no replies until now .... I reviewed some posts regarding custom authentication again and did not find any solution for the issues. Found some that worked with APEX 3.2.1 but not with 4.1.1. I can only work around
    1.) in an insecure way, because the non documented (?) user "nobody" can change and all new sessions will be considered authenticated
    2.) in a way, that ends up in implementing the logout from the non apex environment outside the authentication schema or authentication plugin.
    May be I should contact support for at least the second issue because this doesn't work as documented or am I doing something wrong?
    Michael

  • How to debug "Attempt to validate an already invalid RegionSite"?

    In our existing JDev 11g application development we're now heavily using Bounded Task Flows, Fragments & Regions to their full effect. However from time to time we make mistakes, and we'll receive the following error and our application crashes:
    "java.lang.IllegalStateException: Attempt to validate an already invalid RegionSite:"
    (plus long non useful error stack)
    Okay, so we did something wrong with one of the regions contained in the current page, fair enough, and there's something we need to fix. If we know what we've just changed this is easy, but if the error occurs much later, or after a lot of changes, this can be hard to reverse/isolate. In turn the problem with this error message is it is so generic, it swallows the Java error stack, it gives absolutely no assistance why the problem has occurred, which region is failing, which BTF is failing etc etc.
    From my point of view I normally start hacking down into the code, commenting out chunks (in a div by 2 fashion) until I can locate the issue. For beginners however, with little experience in the ADF framework, this message is a killer as it provides no assistance.
    Do any of the other senior developers on this forum have any generic suggestions we can give to beginners on how to diagnose the true problem? Are there any techniques anyone is using to help reveal the true problem quickly and succinctly? Is there a trick maybe I've missed in squeezing out the real problem?
    Opinions appreciated.
    CM.

    Hi Chris,
    I found a way to debug the last of your given scenarios. I'm not sure how you managed to set the default activity to a none existing target, but here is what I did:
    1. open the BT which holds the fragments for the region in source mode
    2. changed the default activity to a none existing target (I added a '_x' 'depdetail_x' instead of the correct 'depdetail')
    3. run the app anad got the error 'Attempt to validate an already invalid RegionSite'
    4. changed the logging configuration to FINEST for 'oracle.adf' and 'oracle.adfinternal'
    5. tried to run the page again
    6. WOW what a stack trace :-) but it contains the needed information
    I added a part of the generated log (sorry it's quite long) but you may find it useful to find the right point to overwrite a framework class.
    I did not have a change to test this with your other cases, but it should be easy for you to do.
    Timo
