Problem setting up data source to use ODBC DSN

SQL server 2008 r2 BI Tools 2008 r2
When creating new data source based on 64bit ODBC DSN
The DSN is not displayed in the 'Shared Data Source Properties/Edit/Connection Properties/ 'Use user or system data source name' drop down, the only DSN's displayed are 32 bit not the 64 bit ones I need.
How can I access the 64 bit DSN's I need?

Hi,
Based on your description, I am afraid your issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses
the usage of Visual Studio IDE such as WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System
and Visual Studio Editor.
In order to help you resolve your issue, could you please provide us more information, we will check whether other forums can support your issue?
What do you want to do?
What are you doing?
Which tool are you working with? You only mentioned ‘SQL Server 2008 R2 BI Tools 2008 R2’, are you working in SQL Server? Or Visual Studio? Did you use BI Tools within Visual Studio?
Could you provide us an image about what you encountered currently?

  • Import option is not showing the Data Source created using ODBC

    Hi all,
    I'm new to OBIEE, just installed OBIEE 10g in my system with the help of some reply from this Forum (thanks to Kalyan for this).
    Now when I tried to create new rpd, the Import option is not showing the Data source I have created. I have created new Datasource in the SystemDSN tab of the ODBC Administrator window,I have tried this by creating the Datasource in the UserDNS tab as well.
    Mine is Windows 7 Ultimate. The new data source which I have created through the ODBC Administrator window is to connect to SQL 2008 (I'm trying to get some table from SQL 2008 database), I don't have Oracle data base.
    While creating the Data source ODBC Administrator is showing only two drives (SQL Server and SQL Server Native Client 10.0 ) , so I have created the Data source using the SQL Server Native Client 10.0 drive.
    Can some one help me to understand the issue and to solve it.
    Thanks,
    Mithun

  • Can we set the dynamic data source when using getReportParameters() ?

    Hello!
    I have a report where one of its parameters refers to a list of values (LOVs). This list of values is an SQL Query type. When the data source used in the report is defined in the BI Publisher server, I'm able to get the report parameters using the getReportParameters() function in my application. However, if the data source is not defined the function throws an exception, which is understandable.
    I decided to dynamically set the data source so that even if the data source used by the report is not defined in the BI Publisher server, it still will be able to get the LOVs for the parameter. I tried setting the JDBCDataSource of the dynamicDataSource for the ReportRequest object that I passed to the getReportParameters() function. Please see the sample code below:
    reportRequest.dynamicDataSource = new BIP10.BIPDataSource();
    reportRequest.dynamicDataSource.JDBCDataSource = new BIP10.JDBCDataSource();
    setReportDataSource(reportRequest.dynamicDataSource.JDBCDataSource, connectstr, jdbc, dc); //function to set the values for JDBCDataSource object
    reportParams = webrs.getReportParameters(reportRequest, uid, pwd); //call the getReportParameters
    I was expecting this to work as this is what I did to dynamically set the data source before calling the runReport function. So, my question is -- can we set the dynamic data source when using getReportParameters() ? I tried this both in versions 10g and 11g. It does not seem to work on both versions.

    Stephanie

    report_id column of apex_application_page_ir_rpt can help us uniquely identify each saved report.
    We can assign this report_id value to a page item and this page item can be put in the Report ID Item text box of the Advanced section of the Report Attributes page of the IR.
    This should load the saved report identified by report_id and you can get rid of javascript

  • Problem creating new data sources

    hi -- I've just created a file DSN data source (Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Driver), and in Crystal, have used the ODBC (RDO) data source type, pointing to the file DSN. (I'm accessing an Oracle 10g database on a Unix server.)
    The connection to the database is successful, but when I use the Database Expert to pick the actual object (eg table) that I want the report to access, I get the following strange results:
    Not all schemas are visible
    For the schemas that are visible, only stored procedures are shown. No tables, views, or anything else.
    When I create an Oracle Server data source, all schemas and their objects are visible. The report works fine.
    Can someone explain to me why the File DSN is not showing me all schemas and objects?
    Thanks,
    Carol

    All -- Thanks for your suggestions. I probably should have given you more information up front:
    - I've already updated the database using Set Datasource Location.
    - I've already verified that the database explorer is including views and tables
    and is not restricting based on LIKE.
    - I did as Sourashree suggested and created a system DSN -- it also only shows
    me the stored procedures.
    I have successfully created a non-ODBC data source just using the Crystal Reports
    data source type of Oracle Server.  It works just fine -- tables, views, everything I need
    shows up in the explorer. So, my question about the File DSN is really just academic,
    out of curiousity (I struggled with it so long I'd like to know why it doesn't work!).
    If you can help me out, that would be great. But I see no reason the Oracle Server
    data source won't meet our needs.
    Thanks,
    Carol

  • Trying to programmatically set the data-source for a Crystal reports report.

    I've got the following existing procedure that I need to add to in order to programmatically set the data-source (server, database, username, and password) for a Crystal reports report.
     I added the connectionInfo parts, but can’t figure out how to attach this to the existing
    this._report object.
    This is currently getting the connection data from the report file, but I now need to populate this connection data from a 'config.xml' text file.
    Am I trying to do this all wrong?

    this.connectionInfo.UserID = "testuser";
    this.connectionInfo.Password = "test";
    this.connectionInfo.Type = ConnectionInfoType.SQL;
    private void PrepareAllocationExceptionReport(int allocationNo)
    this.paramFields = new ParameterFields();
    this.paramFields.Clear();
    ParameterField paramField = new ParameterField { ParameterFieldName = "@AllocationNo" };
    ParameterDiscreteValue discreteVal = new ParameterDiscreteValue { Value = allocationNo };
    paramField.CurrentValues.Add(discreteVal);
    paramFields.Add(paramField);
    private void DisplayReport()
    frmReportViewer showReport = new frmReportViewer();
    showReport.ReportViewer.ReportSource = this._report;
    showReport.ReportViewer.ParameterFieldInfo = paramFields;
    showReport.ShowDialog();
    showReport.Dispose();
    Any help would be much appreciated.

  • How to set JDBC Data Sources in Oracle MapViewer for Oracle database 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1)

    How to set JDBC Data Sources in Oracle MapViewer for Oracle database 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1)?
    The following is my configuration in the conf\mapViewerConfig.xml:
    <map_data_source name="mvdemo12"
    jdbc_host="127.0.0.1"
    jdbc_sid="orcl12c1"
    jdbc_port="1522"
    jdbc_user="mvdemo"
    jdbc_password="7OVl2rJ+hOYxG5T3vKJQb+hW4NPgy9EN"
    jdbc_mode="thin"
    number_of_mappers="3"
    allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="true"
    editable="true"/>
    <!--  ****  -->
    But it does not work.
    After use "sqlplus mvdemo/[email protected]:1522/pdborcl", it connected to the Oracle database 12c.
    Does anyone know it?
    Thanks,

    For 11.1.1.7.1 use the syntax for jdbc_sid, i.e.
    //mypdb1.foo.com as described in the README,
    - MapViewer native (non-container) data sources can now use database service name in place of SID. To supply a db service name, you will use the same jdbc_sid attribute, but specify the service name with double slashes in front, such as follows:
      <map_data_source name="myds"
        jdbc_host="foo.com"
        jdbc_sid="//mypdb1.foo.com"
        jdbc_port="1522"
      />
    For 11.1.1.7.0 use a container_ds instead.
    i.e. instead of using
    <map_data_source name="my_12c_test"
                       jdbc_host="mydbinstance"
                       jdbc_sid="pdborcl12c"
                       jdbc_port="1522"
                       jdbc_user="mytestuser"
                       jdbc_password="m2E7T48U3LfRjKwR0YFETQcjNb4gCMLG8/X0KWjO00Q="
                       jdbc_mode="thin"
                       number_of_mappers="6"
                       allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
                       editable="false"
       />
    use
      <map_data_source name="my_12c_test"
                       container_ds="jdbc/db12c"
                       number_of_mappers="6"
                       allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
                       editable="false"
       />
    In my case the Glassfish 3.1.2.2 JDBC connection pool definition was
    Property
    url  jdbc:oracle:thin:@mydbinstance:1522/pdborcl12c.rest_of.service.name
    Uncheck the Wrap JDBC Objects option in Advanced panel, i.e. the Edit JDBC Connection Pool Advanced properties page.
    Add a JDBC resource for that newly created pool
    Use that in mapviewerconfig.xml as above

  • Problem changing SQL data source at runtime with VB6 and CR XI

    Hello All,
    We have several VB6 programs using CR XI and are able to pass a DSN to change data source with Access DB that works just fine.
    We are using similar code in another program to change the data source in an SQL DB and get an error... Failed to Open the Connection.
    This is a sample of what works with Access but not SQL DB:
    Dim crxApplication As New CRAXDRT.Application
    Public Report As CRAXDRT.Report
    Global DSN_STRING
    DSN_STRING = "DSN = JC Crystal Reports"
    Dim crxDatabaseTable As CRAXDRT.DatabaseTable
    Set Report = crxApplication.OpenReport(App.Path & "\Test11.rpt", 1)
    'change location of each table in report
    For Each crxDatabaseTable In Report.Database.Tables
            crxDatabaseTable.Location = DSN_STRING
    Next crxDatabaseTable
    FormCrystal.Show vbModal
    We have tried other things from the web, still get error.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    C Reid

    Hi Carole,
    When using SQL types you need more than just the DSN name. CR does keep the password in the report file and all SQL types are usually password protected.
    Try this simple code:
    First log onto the server:
    rpt.database.LogOnServerEx("crdb_odbc.dll, pServerName, [pDatabaseName], [pUserID], [pPassword], [pServerType], [pConnectionString])
    The ConnectionString is the complete line. Run in debug mode and display what the reprot is using and you can see the format it requires.
    Once logged on now you can set the location for each table:
    'report connection properties
            With rpt.Database.Tables(1)
                .ConnectionProperties("User ID").Value = "sa"
                .ConnectionProperties("Password").Value = "YourPassword"
                .ConnectionProperties("Data Source Name").Value = "Your DSN Name"
                '.ConnectionProperties("Data Source Name").Value = "ServerName" ' can be used if specifying a new connection
                .ConnectionProperties("Database").Value = "Northwind"
            End With
            Set rpt.Database.Tables(1).Location = "Northwind.dbo.CustOrderHist"
    I'm only using one table so easy enough to create the loop or use for all...
    Thank you
    Don

  • Create Data Source Module using OMB

    I am not seeing how to create Data Source modules using OMB. I am assuming there is a property of OMBCREATE ORACLE_MODULE that I am overlooking. If anyone can provide assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Yes, there is a OMBCREATE command for creating Oracle Modules. And as per the Scripting ref Guide ( Page 4-157 owb 9i scripting guide) -
    OMBCREATE ORACLE_MODULE 'src_module' SET PROPERTIES (DESCRIPTION, BUSINESS_NAME) VALUES ('this is an Oracle module', 'source module') This will create an Oracle module named "src_module", its description is "this is an Oracle module", and business name is "source module".

    The following have been tested using a simple servlet with Jdeveloper 9.0.5.2 but I think other Jdeveloper/OC4J versions work similar.
    My application is called ds.
    The following command lists the datasources which are deployed with the application.
    I ran the following command against the %JDEV_HOME%\j2ee\home standalone OC4J server but it should work against the embedded OC4J server too.
    Here is the command to list the available datasources:
    C:\jdev9052\j2ee\home>\jdk142_04\bin\java -jar admin.jar ormi://localhost admin welcome -application ds -dataSourceInfo
    And here is the output of the command.
    DataSource info:

    ds = ds my application
    jdbc/DEVDS = string parameter used in lookup method

    I dont have the code.
    Is there any quick way to do it(from console or backend without downloading the code)
    Thanks

    You can export the jar file from the EM console.
    1) Login to EM console
    2) Right click on the composite and select Export and With default options click on Export button
    Find the data source name from the exported code.

  • Why do SQL sample programs work when there is no entry for the data sources in the ODBC Data Source Administrator that are used by the sample program?

    Hi,
    I am trying to understand how to access an SQL database from CVI.
    I don't understand how the sample programs shipped with the toolkit can access the database they use if it is not listed in the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
    In the code, I see the line:
    hdbc = DBConnect ("DSN=CVI SQL Samples");
    However, there is not an entry that I can find in the ODBC Administrator for "CVI SQL Samples."
    The SQL help suggests there should be a User DSN named, "CVI32_Samples", but I don't see that entry in the ODBC Administrator on my win-7 system.
    I believe the sample program is accessing a database file named, "C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\CVI\Samples\sql\samples.mdb".
    Exactly how is the call to DBConnect() translated to the file, "samples.MDB", if there is no entry in the ODBC Administrator?
    Regards,
    Mark

    I figured it out.  There is a 32 bit ODBC administrator and a 64 bit ODBC administrator.  The ODBC administrator I run through the control panel is the 64 bit ODBC administrator. To access the 32 bit administrator I need to run, "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe".
    I am running the samples in 32 bit mode, so I need to use the 32 bit ODBC administrator.
    Best,
    Mark

  • Capture encountered a problem reading the data source tape .

    FCP 4.5
    SONY DSR-20 deck
    dual 1.5GHZ
    There are sound drop-outs on my source NTSC mini-dv tapes
    the time-code looks pretty steady in the DSR-20 deck display
    however i keep getting the following message when i try to digitize:
    "Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape.
    This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted
    and your clip has been saved"
    I've tried setting Device Control to "Non-Controllable Device" and trying to capture video ONLY [the drop-out is mainly in the sound] which has generally solved this problem in the past but to no avail.
    The same message comes up.
    I realize my source tapes are messed up but how to work around it?
    any advice please !
    thank you

    The most direct work-around is to play your DV tape through the analog outs on some device and to bring the signal into a a/dv converter and to capture using 'capture now/non-controllable device'
    I'm doing this as I write. A student, who did not know any better, recorded on LP mode and the timecode (and recording in general) is nearly unusable. This is the only way I've been able to get it into the system. It ain't pretty but you will have the material.
    You are correct when you inquire that there will be no time code and the material will take a 2 conversion hit.
    Good luck.

  • Setting Up Data Source In Reporting Services

    I know how to set up a data source using SQL Server Authentication by filling in this part:
    However, when I try to use Windows Authentication here, it says "Log on failed.  Ensure the user name and password are correct".
    When I use my Windows Authenticated log on, it works.  I think the logon that was set up is a service account.  Even though it is a service account shouldn't it still take?
