Problem Sorting Photos in Slideshow

I created a slideshow, putting the photos in the desired order. Now, for a reason I cannot understand, that order is completely reversed--front to back. When I go to View-Sort, everything is grayed out.
Is there a keystroke that will reverse the order of the slides?

Alpsteiner:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Select all of the photos in the thumbnail tray at the top and then drag the first slide to the far right of the tray and wait for the blue slider to move to the far right and then release. That will reverse the order of the entire slideshow.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Sorting photos for slideshow on 5G 80GB iPod (Windows XPPro formatted)

I can successfully synch my ipod to a specific photo folder on my desktop, but I am unable to keep the sorting for a slideshow. The ipod manual describes using PhotoShop (Adobe) programs, etc. I do not have that, but would like to display a slideshow in order (sorted). I have numbered, named individual photos with no result. The Monster S video cable works great for viewing on a TV!!!
Any help sorting would be appreciated.

  • Sorting photos in slideshow in iPhoto 08

I created a slideshow for use in iDVD. But when I exported it to iDVD it reversed in order (the first photo is now a the end, etc). When I click "view" and "sort photos" none of the options such as "descending order" are allowed. I had already edited all 205 slides (Ken Burns effect, etc) so I hate to discard the slideshow and start over. Any ideas?

I think you posted in the wrong forum. You posted in the iPad forum.

  • Cannot sort photos in slideshow

When creating a slideshow it seem not to work as expected:
    1)
I cannot sort the photos as I want. When I drag and move a photo it reorders everything in a for me rabdom way and nothing is in the place I expected it to be.
    2)
I cannot edit text in the title line. When marking the text I can move the cursor through the characters but I cannot enter new or delete existing, it is like it is locked for editing.
    3)
There is no switch in the settings for "random order" as there use to be when playing a slideshow directly from an album.
    4)
    And more strange things....
    Help, Please

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • IPhoto - Please Help Problem Sorting Photos

    Hi everyone,
I imported pictures into iphoto that had been taken with 2 different cameras, but all have similar dates within a certain time span. I imported my own pictures on the 6. October and the other ones on the 8th October. Although the pictures have both been taken in September, iPhoto puts my photos in the October section and uses this as "date taken" and the other photos are sorted correctly.
The Background is that I would like to do a slide show and it is very complicated to switch between the pictures and they are around 1000 in number.
By the way, does anyone know an easy way to adopt the Ken Burns effect of iphoto and then edit text and a audio track in imovie? I was used to Magix Video, which is really simple in handling and now on the mac I think imovie takes such a long time for rendering.
    Thank you for your answers.

Yes, you can take advantage of the Ken Burns effect for a slideshow in iMovie. Just export the slideshow you made in iPhoto, and then it will be a Quicktime movie that you can import into iMovie to add audio and text to it.
If I understand correctly, your photos show a date in October instead of September. If you select all of the photos whose date you want to change, you can apply the date change to all of them at once. You can do this in the "information" window that toggles in the lower left corner of iPhoto.
Please let me know if this helps or if you need further assistance.

    Self explanatory.
You could try creating an iPod version of the films.
Use CTRL and B to display the Menu bar shown above. Alternatively, use the ALT key, followed by the F key, the W key and finally the I (eye) key - that's (menu)/File/Create New Version/Create iPod or iPhone version.

  • Problem Scaling Individual Photos in Slideshow Edit Mode

I've stumbled upon a bizarre problem while building a slideshow in iPhoto '08:
I'm trying to scale the images (i.e. manually assign custom Ken Burns start and end states, or just resize individual slides) using the slider at the bottom right of the application interface, and the images do not scale in real time like they do elsewhere in the app. When I move the slider, the entire image shrinks to fit the screen, and stays that way until I release the mouse button, at which time the image springs back to the new size.
    Anyone else notice this?
It's quite irritating, since it takes a lot of guesswork and clicking to dial in the size I want. This only happens in the slideshow editor. Everywhere else (calendar and book layout, thumbnail display size, etc.), moving the slider causes the images to scale in real time.

    Veggeep:
Try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. It's amazing what a bad pref file can affect. Worth a try.
You might also go into your User/Library/Caches folder and empty the iPhoto folder.
    Happy Holidays

  • IPhoto09 v 8.1.2 Problem- Double clicking on thumbnail results in glimpse of photo and changes to ! with black background.  No photo, no slideshow.

    iPhoto09 v 8.1.2
Double clicking on thumbnail results in glimpse of photo before changing to  !  with a black background.
    No photo, no slideshow.
(Preferences set to magnify with double click)

That indicates that the iPhoto database has lost the connection to the high resolution photo - if you have not made any changes to the library (like cleaning uyp, deleting using thrid party software or form the all images list) then rebuilding will probably resolve it - Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto database

  • Sort photos on ipad

Is there REALLY no way to sort photos on the current iPads (iOS 8.1)? It used to sort by file name and now it seems to do it by metadata dates... I want my images in a particular order for presentation and do not want to have to go through iPhoto...

I have a similar problem with my ipad4. I purchased this to be able to show photos in the order I want. I organise in albums, the photos
being in file name order within the album, all on my PC. Everything is ok UNTIL you edit a photo, which I do on my PC. It may be saved with the same filename but when synced via itunes the photo is placed at the end of the album. This makes the  slideshow feature redundant as I cannot dictate the order.
When the photos app is first opened the scrolling of albums is not smooth.
If I view in photos view then the edited photos are under a different date so making this view impossible to navigate, as the edited photos
are no longer shown at the date they were originally taken. This means that the photo view of moments etc is not fit for purpose.
Whichever way I try to view my photos I apparently have no control, contrary to the much heralded advertising for Ios8.
It seems I purchased a very expensive device that originally worked well, but now is only fit for the rubbish bin.

  • Misordering of photos in slideshow

When I click on the quick slideshow button whilst in the Events view of iPhoto, most events display their pictures in the order that appear in the Photos view or when you double click on a Event to see the pictures inside it.
However, on 2 or 3 of my Events, the order shown in the slideshow is different. Its not random - but its not the order in which the photos are laid out in Photos view? Not a big issue, but an annoyance when I want to show other folks a sequence of photos in the order they were taken/are numbered.
    Any suggestions please?
    thanks
    Mike

Thanks for the suggestion - hadn't looked there!
In Events (looking at key photos): View>Sort Events is By Date and Ascending
In Events (opened to see photos): View>Sort Photos is By Date and Ascending
(but this is not the order number of offending Events display in Slideshow)
In Photos: View>Sort Photos is By Date and Ascending
If I double click one of the problems to show the picture contained within it and then -
    - select all and hit slideshow button: right order
    - select none and hit slideshow button: right order
Go back to Events View, select that event and hit slideshow button: WRONG Order!?!
    Best wishes,
    Mike

  • Sort images in slideshow

I spent the weekend scanning about 120 photos to make a DVD to run during my wife's 50th birthday part, naming them all by year and number within the year so they would be nicely sorted for the slideshow. Much to my disgust when I dragged them into the slideshow window, they did not appear sorted by name. Does anybody know of a way to easily perform such a basic task apparently unthought of by the program's developers? I was using iDVD 4, though I have 5 a work and it seems to have the same limitation.

I have only used the slide show feature of iDVD a few times and also noticed the rather random way that iDVD chooses to display a set of photos when dragged into a slide show. I have not figured out a way or heard of a way to reorder them in a specific sequence. If you want more control you might consider building your slide show in iMovie instead and sending to iDVD as a movie. Although the iDVD slide show builder is a very quick and easy way to do slide shows, but apparently has its draw backs.

  • How to sort photo events by date and avoid having duplicated photos on iPhone 6+

How to sort photo events bby date and avoid having duplicated photos. Before the sorting by date worked perfectly by specifying "sort events by date ascending" in iPhoto from my Mac. Now the sorting from iPhoto has no more effect on the iPhones. And photos are often duplicated when synchronisin. Before these problems didn't happen. How to do?

You can not  --  neither automatically or manually - you should never be in the masters folder and there is never a need to be - iPhoto is a SQLite database and it's database structure is determined by it (and changes from time to time) - use the supported access methods (direct access to the photo files is not supported and never has been) - either using iPhoto or using the media browser in the lower left hand corner of every open/attach/iupload window
It is CRITICAL that you NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library using the finder or any program other than iPhoto

  • Sorting photos in an album

I am trying to sort photos in an album in a random fashion, like an iPod would shuffle songs. Except here's the small difference, every twenty photos or so I need to insert a specific photo. Playing the slideshow allows for a shuffle, but I want to shuffle them in the album, then insert the specific photos. Sorting manually is an option, but I'm using over 700 photos which gets rather tedious. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
There is no way to sort Photos in an Album randonly. The only options are
Date, Keyword, Title, Rating or Manually
That’s that you’ve got to work with, I’m afraid.

  • Sorting photos on IPhoto

I wish to combine my own photos and my sons photos of the same holiday on Iphoto (latest version). I have renamed my sons photos numerically to fit into my required sequence. When I place them into a Folder on the HD or onto a CD they are in the order I want them - all together in a logical sequence. When I load all these photos to IPhoto my photos separate out from my son's yet retain my numerical numbering. How can I merge them in Iphoto in the required sequence and as they appear in my folders on the HD?

I am just trying to build an Event which shows the best of his and mine as one Event.
That is no problem - but by default they will be intermixed by time since that is how events display
You can assign them different keywords ( make a smart album based on camera and select all photos in it and assign an appropriate keyword) and sort by key words (view menu ==> sort photo ==> by key words) or titles if that does it for you (view menu ==> sort photo ==> by titles)
