Problem updating multiple SQL tables
Hello,
We are using Hyper-V with Windows 7.0 Enterprise SP1 as guest OS, on Windows 8.1 workstations to be able to run multiple versions of a Application we are working with.
This software is used to setup and store large configurations in a database (Acess, SQL Server, Oracle...). ODBC Manager is used to establish connections to all databases we use. The Application uses many forms, each saving data in a specific table.
All is working good except when a form tries to update multiple tables (master-details); only the first table (master) is updated and we experience a crash from the Application. The problems seems to come from the fact we are running this Application in
a Hyper-V VM...
In all, 3 similar workstations, with Hyper-V setups, are experiencing this problem. Workstations with he same version of the Application installed (NO Hyper-V) are able to update the same databases successfully.
I tested with Oracle and SQL Server (both local and on network server) with same result. I can use Access successfully for this operation, no problem both locally and on a net share.
I will continue to test trying to trace with a local SQL Server instance but would like to get ideas what to look for. I suspect Transactions but yet to find a error message which could help me pinpoint the problem...
Any help appreciated at this point !
Thanks,
Michel
Hi Michel,
>>All is working good except when a form tries to update multiple tables (master-details); only the first table (master) is updated and we experience a crash from the Application.
Please try to allocate static RAM same as workstations' to that VM to check the result .

Elton Ji

Can't update a sql-table with a space
Hello,
In a transaktion I'm getting some Values from a SAP-ERP System via JCO.
I update a sql-table with this values with a sql-query command.
But sometimes the values I get from SAP-ERP are empty (space) and I'm not able to update the sql-table because of a null-value exception. (The column doesn't allow null-values). It seems that MII thinks null and space are the same.
I tried to something like this when passing the value to the sql-query parameter but it didn't work:
stringif( Repeater_Result.Output{/item/SCHGT} == "X", "X", " ")
stringif( Repeater_Result.Output{/item/SCHGT} == "X", "X", " ")
this works but I don't want to have a "_"
stringif( Repeater_Result.Output{/item/SCHGT} == "X", "X", "_")
Any suggestions?
thank you.
MatthiasThe problem is Oracle doesn't know the space function. But it knows a similar function: NVL --> replaces a null value with something else. So this statement works fine for me:
update marc set
LGort = '[Param.3]',
dispo = '[Param.4]',
schgt = NVL('[Param.5]', ' '),
dismm = '[Param.6]',
sobsl = NVL('[Param.7]',' '),
fevor = '[Param.8]'
where matnr = '[Param.1]' and werks = '[Param.2]'
If Param.5 or Param.7 is null Oracle replaces it with a space in every other case it is the parameter itself.
Christian, thank you for your hint with the space function. So I remembered the NVL-function.

Can anyone help me in a problem with PL/SQL Tables & the Java getArray()
The problem is the following:
I would tike to get a PL/SQL Table (a table of varchar2) into a Java String Array.
It works very well except that instead of getting the characters in the PL/SQL Table
I receive the character codes in each string.
In the following example i should get:
spring
summer
outumn
winter
Instead I get:
0x737072696E67
0x73756D6D6572
0x6F7574756D6E
0x77696E746572
Steps to try the sample
1)Creating the following type
create or replace TYPE CHAR_ARRAY IS TABLE OF VARCHAR(32767);
2)Creating the following stored procedure
create or replace PROCEDURE MQ_MSG_PROCESSOR
MessageText in VARCHAR2,
QueueName out VARCHAR2,
RplyMessage out CHAR_ARRAY,
HastoCommit out NUMBER
AS
RMessage CHAR_ARRAY;
BEGIN
QueueName:='DEV_OUT';
RMessage:=CHAR_ARRAY();
RMessage.Extend(4);
RMessage(1):='spring';
RMessage(2):='summer';
RMessage(3):='outumn';
RMessage(4):='winter';
HastoCommit:=1;
RplyMessage:=RMessage;
END;

I tried the code with same procedure.
That works out fine for me..
and it prints out exactly the same words as you mentioned..:))
may be you must have changed something later on.. which started printing character codes..
but for me it works perfectly fine..

Problems updating a linked table
Hi,
I am running a win 7 with Excel 2013, 64 bit, Swedish version. I try to update a linked table in the data modell and get an error message saying:

The file is saved as .xlsx so there shouldn't be a compatibility problem. I have also tried removing the added rows to make sure the added data didn't contain any bad data and running the file on a different computer but the problem keeps showing up.
Anyone having any ideas on how to solve this?

Problem with pl/sql table data type
hai friends,
i have one procedure it has some in parameters and one out parameter which fetches values to front end.
But the out parameter will be pl/sql table data type.
if it is ref cursor
then i declared as
var x refcursor;
exec procedure_name(1,:x);
it is ok.
but for pl/sql table data type is out parameter then what i will do in the prompt .
give me syntax and clarify my doubt.
advanced thanks...
madhavaThe SQL*Plus VARIABLE statement does not support user-defined types, hence it cannot support nested tables. It can support cursors because they can be weakly typed (so we can use the one SQL*Plus VAR to hold any shape of resultset). Nested tables are strongly typed; SQL*Plus is a relatively stupid interface and cannot be expected to understand UDT.
So, it you want to use nested tables as output you'll need to code a wrapping procedure that can understand your nested table type and handle it accordingly.
Sorry.

Problem updating multiple rows in Oracle Application Express
Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
I have added a column to a table in the SQL workshop in Apex. I now want to update it using some SQL commands and cannot figure out for the life of me how I terminate each command line. Below is an example of the following
When I use the following line
UPDATE "QUOTEES" SET "COUNTRY_CODE"='1GB' WHERE "QUOTEE_UID"='410'
It works fine but if I amend it to
UPDATE "QUOTEES" SET "COUNTRY_CODE"='1GB' WHERE "QUOTEE_UID"='410';
UPDATE "QUOTEES" SET "COUNTRY_CODE"='1GB' WHERE "QUOTEE_UID"='416';
UPDATE "QUOTEES" SET "COUNTRY_CODE"='1GB' WHERE "QUOTEE_UID"='424';
Then it doesn't work, I get an invalid character error. My main experience using SQL is in MySQL so I'm not aware of differences in Oracle.
RichardHi Richard,
I'm not familar with Apex, but that problem is similar to other tools.
You either need to "execute as script". In TOAD this would F5.
Or put empty lines in between;
UPDATE "QUOTEES" SET "COUNTRY_CODE"='1GB' WHERE "QUOTEE_UID"='410';
UPDATE "QUOTEES" SET "COUNTRY_CODE"='1GB' WHERE "QUOTEE_UID"='416';
UPDATE "QUOTEES" SET "COUNTRY_CODE"='1GB' WHERE "QUOTEE_UID"='424';Then you can execute one at a time.

Smart form problem with multiple pages & table problem
Hi experts,
I have a problem with my smart form with multiple pages
Situation: I have a smart form that ALWAYS has at least 2 pages. In one page the quotation, in the second page (basically this is the 3rd page as the 2nd page is optional) the terms and conditions. Sometimes however, when there are many items in the quotation more than 1 page is needed for the quotation.
The (optional) second page of a quotation has a different header than the first page of a quotation. So I made a second page with 2 secondary windows (where the header texts are in). The main window is after the secondary windows and has to finish the quotation.
The problem is that my headers of the second page are never printed, it stays a blank space. The table however does continue and is printed.
Another problem I have is that I have a table (with the quotations) with 6 columns. The first 2 columns are displayed correctly but once the 3rd column the columns are shown on a lign below.
Regards,
PJI would suggest another approach to this problem.
Use just one page. For the headers on the first page, use a secondary window and on the conditions tab, choose the additional event - Only on First Page.
For the different header on the second page, create another secondary window on the same page (probably even overlapping the first header on your layout). But in this one, on the conditions tab, choose the additional event - Not on First Page.
The table should flow as you would be using the Main window for this one.
As for columns, if they are too wide and wont fit in the same line, it would move to the next line. So you would have to re-adjust the line width and test.
Hope this resolves your problem.
Regards,
Ancy

Problem relating multiple fact tables
I have 2 fact tables in my cube (Encounter and Visit). Every visit has at least 1 encounter but not every encounter has a visit. I also have a department dimension which is related to both facts, and an appointment status dimension which is
related only to Visit Fact.
The users want to look at the count of encounters by department and appointment status. At first I was having an issue with this because when using the encounter count, I would end up with the same value in each row. So I was able to create a
dimension from my Visit Fact table and then have Encounter Fact reference the appointment status dimension through the Visit Fact dimension. The problem I am having now is that since not every encounter has a visit, that my count of encounters only includes
the encounters that have visits. What I currently have is "joining out" the encounters that don't have a visit. How do I work around this so that all of the records from Encounter Fact are in the cube regardless of whether or not they have
a visit?
Do I need to implement unknown members in this case? I'm not sure where to go.
Thanks for the help,
AndySo yes, if you are going to have some nulls you want to implement unknown members either
1. "manually" in the ETL by making yourself a custom-created unknown record in each dimension with the values your users want to see in each column (e.g. unknown record might have product_category='Misc')
2. using the built-in analysis services stuff - convert null to unknown
Typically in my cubes facts are related only to dimensions, not directly to each other. So I think I am not getting a full description of the relationships in your cube so I can't comment on your overall setup. I guess I would say if your can
determine the appointment status of an encounter based on the visit (or null/unknown if visit is null/unknown), then you should go ahead and use that information to directly relate encounter and appointment status. I would tend to do it in the ETL, you
can always use a view layer over the datamart dimension tables to do this an easy way without snowflaking your actual cube with reference dimensions. -

BRFplus: Problem updating values in an internal table in a loop expression
Hi
I'm looking into the loop expression type of BRFplus and I have come across a problem updating an internal table, I'm trying to create and populate the table using a loop, here is the functionality I'm trying to achieve:
In a rule set create an internal MONTH_TBL table containing 12 rows of two columns: MONTH_NUM containing values 1 through 12 and MONTH_VAL containing an amount (initially 0,00 EUR in all 12 rows).
After initializing the table traverse through SFLIGHT table and for each row add PRICE from the table to MONTH_VAL in the row of MONTH_TBL corresponding to the month of FLDATE field in SFLIGHT.
The initialization of MONTH_TBL works as intended, as does the traversal of and retrieval of values from SFLIGHT. The problem however is the update of the internal table MONTH_TBL (defined as result data object for the function). I don't get an error, but the tables does not get updated, and I cannot seem to find out what the problem is. I would have attached an XML extract of the function + ruleset for information, but it dosen't seem like that is possible, I could e-mail it on request (for SAP employees with access to system QU5 the function is LOOP_TEST in application Z_KLAUS_TEST).
I hope that this is sufficient information to understand the issue that I'm dealing with.
best regards
Klaus Stenbæk, KMDHi Klaus,
The Loop expression is part of NW 7.02 which is not yet released. When you experience the problem as part of a test you should have a contact at SAP for dealing with problems/errors. Usually SAP-internal messages are used for this purpose. Please clarify with your SAP contact how the model is.

Import Server - Multiple Qualified Table - Map Crash
Hello,
Requirement: I need to update multiple qualified table using single source file.
Preparation: I have created a map where mapping to multiple qualified table fields maually.
Have created a Inbound Port using the above map.
Problem: Import server throws an exception; while opening the Import Manager using the Port Option and corresponding Exception; Lot of fields were un-mapped. Looks like Import map crashed.
Please feel free to throw some light reg the same!
Thanks
AlexanderHi Alexander,
If you are performing multiple qualifier table mapping and importing then you will hav eto create differnt map for each table importing.In that case you will rrquire multiple inbound ports and in each ports deatils you will give the map name pertaining to which qualified lookup table you wish to import.
Actually using automatic importing for lookups is not desirable as the lookups always need to be prepopulated before your main table importing.
The exception taht you are receiving could be due to the reason that the map you are saving is using only one table mapping and so most of the fields are left unmapped.
try not to use automatic importing for Lookup qualifier tables and use manual importing and see if the the exception still comes.
Hope it helps
Kindly reaward points if found useful
Thanks

How to invoke PL/SQL Table parameter in the query string?
Hello,
I've met a problem invoking PL/SQL Table parameter in the query string, in OWS 3.0.
What I'm going to do is, to invoke a stored procedure to generate a web page using PL/SQL Web Toolkit 2.0, like: "http://.../owa/test_proc".
But there is a IN parameter for this procedure, and it's a PL/SQL Table variable. So I can't invoke the procedure sucessfully just using "http://.../owa/test_proc?v_plsql=i_plsql".
Did someone have met this kind of problem or have the answer to it? Thanks so much for your help.When using procedures with pl/sql-tables as parameter they should be overloaded, e.g.:
procedure my_procedure (my_var in varchar2)...
and
procedure my_procedure (my_var in owa_util.ident_arr)
the procedure then can be called with:
http://..../my_procedure?my_var=Scott, which invokes the version with the varchar2 parameter, or
http://..../my_procedure?my_var=Scott&my_var=Miller......
which invokes the version with the pl/sql-Table
Another solution might be the use of flexible parameters, passing pairs of parameter_name, parameter_value to your procedure. Your procedure looks like:
procedure my_procedure (name_array IN owa.vc_arr, value_array IN owa.vc_arr)..
and is invoked (note the ! )
http://..../!my_procedure?ename=Scott&sal=200&job=clerk.....
looping through the pl/sql tables will retrieve values of ename, sal and job for name_array and Scott, 200 and clerk for value_array
