Problem using Boundary Events

Hi Forum,
I designed a small process containing a task which has a completion time of one minute and raises a critical exception.
I attached a boundary event to the task and connected the event to a second task.
When starting the process I assumed that after reaching the completion time of one minute the boundary event on task one would be fired and my second task shows up in my UWL.
But apparently that is not the case.
The process instance always ends up being suspended.
Am I missing something?

Hi Bastian,
One thing that came to my mind:
DId you check if you really selected "CompletionDeadlineISCriticalException" in the tab "Boundary Events" of the particular task? Maybe you mixed it up with "CompletionDeadlineIsNonCriticalException", which had happened to me once before. In that case it would listen to a boundary event which will never happen and the critical boundary event remains unhandled, thus will bubble up to the default handler and finally cause the process to be suspended.

Focus problem using key event

Hi!
There is an application I've created uses key event that needs your help.
As you know, that setting 'Mnemonic' to a JButton object makes the button accessible by a key mentioned in the parameter as the following ->
               OkButton.setMnemonic(KeyEvent.VK_O);Now, pressing 'Alt' and 'O' keys together will do the same action as the 'OKButton' does.
But as of me, I think pressing two keys together is not a complete handy job.
So, is there any code that will do the same, by pressing only the 'O' key ?
Ok! I know that there is something to be taken care of; that is, if I want the button to react by pressing only the 'O' key the button must be in focus [value returned by the method [code]isFocusable() for the button must return true.]
Then how the 'Mnemonic' works ?!! When 'Mnemonic' do something, button does not have any focus.
Only, I press the Alt+O and the work done successfully! No need to take care wherever the focus is. So, is there any way to do alike, where I don't have to manage the focus subsystem?? I would only press the 'O' key and the task will be done.
Please send a sample code. Thanks!

i need to use Boundary event time (Timer Events) in my process but the time is dynamic.
in bpm help i saw this, but dont works.

You can define Timer Events with "Time Cycle" (periodic) or "Time Date" (one time) triggers
If you use "Time Date" (one time) trigger, you can specify any Simple Expression that returns a DateTime . Like for example:
'now' + '30m'
dataObjectTime + '2h'If you use "Time Cycle" (periodic) trigger, you can specify any Simple Expressions that return an Interval/Duration . Like for example:
'1h30m'
dataObjectInterval
dataObjectInterval + '30s'

Problem using local variable in event loop

I have a state machine from which I want to monitor various controls, including "Start" and "Stop" buttons. Not every state needs to monitor the controls. At present, most states run timed loops. In the first state that reads the front panel, I have an Event structure (inside a While loop) that monitors the various controls' Change Value events. For numeric controls, I update variables (in shift registers) as needed. The "Start" button is used to end the While loop controlling the Event structure, allowing the State to exit to the next state.
My problem comes in subsequent states that employ this same idea. Here, I put a Local Variable bound to the Start button and use the same code, but it frequently happens that when I enter this particular state, I cannot "turn on" the control -- I push the button, but it stays off. Curiously, if it was On when I enter, I can turn it off, but then I'm stuck not being able to turn it on.
I mocked up a very simply routine that illustrates this. There are two sequences (corresponding to the two states). Both use an Event loop with a local variable bound to my Stop button (really this is an LED control with custom colors). I've deliberately moved the "initialization" (the declaration of the control in the block diagram) out of the Event loops -- putting it inside the first loop modifies the behavior in another strange way.
Here's my thinking on how I would expect this to work: The code outside Event Loop 1 should have little effect. Assume the Stop button is initially Off. You will "sit" in Event Loop 1 until you push the Stop button, changing its value to True; this value will be passed out of the Event case and cause the first While loop to exit. You now enter the second sequence. As I understand the Exit tunnel, it defaults to "False", so I'd expect to stay in the second Event loop until I turn the Stop button from On to Off, which will pass out a False, and keep me in the While for one more button push. However, this doesn't happen -- I immediately exit, as though the "True" value of the Stop local variable is being seen and recognized by the Event loop (even though it hasn't changed, at least not in the context of this second loop).
An even more curious thing occurs if I start this routine with the Stop button turned on. Now I start in my Event loop waiting for a change, but this time the change will be from On to Off, which won't cause an exit from the frame. This will be reflected by having the While loop count increment. We should now be in the state of the example above, i.e. in an Event loop waiting for the control to be pushed again, and turned On. However, clicking the control has no effect -- I cannot get it to "turn on".
Where am I going astray in my thinking? What is it about this method of doing things that violates the Labview paradigm? As far as I can tell, what I'm doing is "legal", and I don't see the flaw in my reasoning, above (of course not -- otherwise I'd have fixed it myself!). Note that because I'm using local variables inside Event loops (and I'm doing this because there are two places in my code where I want to do such testing), the Stop control is not latching (as required). Is there something that gets triggered/set when one reads a latched control? Do I need to do this "manually" using my local variable?
I'll try to attach the simple VI that illustrates this behavior.

That's interesting. I had always thought I read more messages discouraging such a thing rather than saying it was okay. Your link lead me to another thread with this message. http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=245793#M245793. Now that thread was mainly concentrating on registered user events which would be a different, but related animal.
So if you have 2 event structures they each have their own event queue? So if you have a common event, one structure pulls it off its event queue and it does not affect the other structure's event queue? I guess the inherent problem with this particular VI was that the second event structure locked the front panel. Since the code never got to that 2nd event structure because the first loop never stopped because the change was from true to false. After reading your post and the others, I did some experimentation and turned off the Lock front panel on the 2nd structure, and that prevented the lockup of the program.
Overall, the example VI still shows problems with the architecture and I think your answer should put the original poster on the right track. I think as a rule I would probably never put the same event in multiple structures, I feel there are better ways to communicate the same event between different parts of a program, but I learned something by reading your reply and about how the event structures work in the background. Problem using events to control robot

We are using an event structure to control a robot. As you see in the included example, we are using the serial port to transmit data to the robot (actually hyper terminal for now). NOw that the last event has been added (including the graph at lower right), the VI stops responding and must be aborted whenever a button is pressed more than twice in a row. Perhaps the problem is that the serial port is getting overwhelmed (though we are only sending 4 bytes on each button click).
The graph event is taken from the vi called "Draw Graph With Events" that is included with labVIEW. However, instead of drawing on the graph, we send the coordinates to the robot. When the user clicks on the graph first, it works as intended, but then the
buttons don't work and vice versa.

Time Constraint for Boundary Events

Hi experts.
I am pretty new to BPM (NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.1 SP04 BPM SP05) and I am just making a test process to try to get the time constraint concept right. So far I have three tasks in my process, very much like a textbook example. In my first task I have an input field in which you're supposed to type in your name, which is then saved to the context and triggers the second task when completed. That second task is nothing but a screen displaying "You successfully generated a second task, (with the name you entered in the first task here)."
That works fine so far. Then there's the third task, which is linked to a boundary event on the second event with a start deadline which is critical exception. Here's the idea... You complete the first task (name input), then you fail to start the second task within a certain amount of time defined by an expression, so the process should go to the third task because of the deadline. By the way, it works fine when using a default time, so I must be doing something right so far, the problem is when trying to dynamically change the time with the expression.
What I tried was to define a context attribute type time and date (I tried both) and assigning a time (current time plus whatever amount of minutes) to that attribute via Java coding at the time you click on the button which completes the task, then use that context element in the expression, but that didn't work. I also tried to make that context attribute an integer and set it to whatever amount of minutes I want to use for the deadline, then in the expression get the current time and add that afore mentioned integer to its minutes. That didn't work either.
Please help, I have seriously done some research, and no success yet.

Wheres the TechnicalError Boundary event in 7.31 SP11?

We've just upgraded to CE 7.31 SP11 and I was very keen to try the TechnicalError boundary event ( http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73ehp1/helpdata/en/5b/715367d7c143e5b62d5f39d48400c6/content.htm).
I've got NWDS 7.31 SP11 pat005 and have created a new process with an automated activity which has an interface assinged. I had expected to be able to select the TechnicalError boundary event for any automated activity, but it's not there:
Can anyone tell me how to add and configure the TechnicalError boundary event?

I had thought that because I'm creating my test dc in the Local development track of my 7.31 SP11 NWDS that I would be using SP11 .sca 's to build. That would be true if I had not re-used my workspace which i was using previously - which is usually not a problem because the actual dev track where is really develop is also updated with the new .sca's .

How do I use the event.target.name String with an external dispatchEvent?

...I hope the title question makes sense...
On my stage I have an externally loaded SWF with a button. When clicked the button dispatches an event to the main stage.
On the main stage a listener then loads an SWF into a loader called gallery.
The gallery loader is also being shared by buttons on the main stage which use the event.target.name String to call in SWFs with corresponding names.
I am using Tweens to fade-out and -in content to the gallery when a button is pressed.
Loading the SWFs was working until I tried to create a universal button function for the dispatchEvent buttons...
The problem I have is that I don't know how to define the String to tell the newSWFRequest where to find the SWF when triggered by the external buttons.
(I may be doing this all wrong... but figured the best way to load an SWF on to the main stage from an external SWF was by using dispatchEvent??)
My code triggers the Event and the gallery loader fades out, but then it cannot find the new SWF:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
Please can someone help me understand the way to make the String point in the right direction? (I think the only errors are in bold below)

After that, I tried setting permissions for the cwallet.sso file to ugo+rwx, but this leads to the same problems as mentioned above.
My second try was to setup an external WLS 12c, but it seems to be not yet possible to connect to a WLS 12c from within jDeveloper.

After debugging the WLS Initialisation with jdb, I recognized that there was some trouble with dependent libraries.
In the end, I solved my problem by using another OS (Ubuntu 11.10) for development. There, the WLS works out of the box, even with 64-Bit libraries.

Using Multiple Event Listeners

Hi,
I have a movielcip (A) class in which I have used a Tween class effect on a child movieclip (B) scrollRect. The (B) Movieclip in turn has several movieclips whose have tween class effect being executed on thier child movieclips.
the tweens are all unique to each movieclip
and the event listeners are taken off once completed.
This works all well and good in FLASH IDE...
My problem arises when I try to view this in a browser on a Windows XP
it doesnt work in
Opera Version 9.63
Firefox 2.0
and Google Chrome 2.0
The only browser it works fluently in is
Internet Explorer 7.0.5
What is happening in most cases it that the animation appears to "stick" but i think what may be happening is the listening or removal of the event listeners. The animations are left incompleted.
Is there any rule of thumb when using multiple event listeners?

the effect disables and re-enables the buttons when its done.... then the listeners are removed.
each one with the exception cretes its own unique tween (obviously this is a custom class built as each clip)
i really don't know what to make of it guys

apparantly making the tween a property of the class rather than a random variable in a function worked.....go figure

Time Constraints and Boundary Events in BPM

Hi all,
I have done the following:
In the Task window, Time Constraints tab
- Checked "Define a default completion deadline" with the offset as 3 minutes.
- Checked the "Raise critical exception when deadline is reached" checkbox.
In the boundary events for the activity, I have added "CompletionDeadlineIsCriticalException".
From the boundary event, I have linked to to another activity that belongs to another user (User B).
When i am testing the BPM, the task goes into a Suspended status after 3 minutes. However User B did not received a new item in the UWL.
In the NWA, "Manage Process: Process Instances", i can see that Task is escalated by null and the status is suspended.
Does anyone has any advice over here?

Problem using image via URL

Hi everybody
I have a problem with loading images via URL into my PDFs.
I am using LCD ES2 Version 9.0.1....
I want to create a PDF which loads images from the internet but it does not work.
So far I have tried to add an image or image field to my PDF in the LCD and populate that image using the Object-->Field-->URL: palett. I put the URL in there like this http://www.adobe.com/imageshome/pdfgift_home.gif , tick the "embed image Data" checkbox (also tried with without that just to be sure) and save as Dynamic PDF (I also tried static) but when I open the PDF in adobe reader 9 or 10 or acrobat 9 there is no image showing. I also put the image in a subform and made that subform flowed, as well as the page itself and made the binding global.
I have the form properties - default set to "Acrobat and Adobe Reader version 9.0 or higher", Default Language to JavaScript, PDF Render format to Dynamic PDF.
I also tried using JavaScript events like "form:ready ImageField2.value.#image.href = "http://www.adobe.com/imageshome/pdfgift_home.gif" as discribed here http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/tips/lc_dynamic_images.pdf but that also does not work.
What am I missing?
Any help would be great and greatly appreciated!!!

As far as I can tell, this use case is not allowed because of cross site references related security concerns. The form can refer to the images stored on the same server from where the PDF is served, but the images cannot come from external servers.

ICal error "There was a problem receiving this event invitation"

Whenever I try accepting an event invitation I get a dialog prompt that says
*There was a problem receiving this event invitation*
Someone invited you to an event using an email address that isnt on your "me" card in Address Book. Find your email address in the following list and add it to your card in Address Book
Problem is I've done that, my vCard is up to date. It was working fine, I cant recieve any invites anymore, wether they come from OSX or Windows. Can anyone help?

I ran into this same issue. To resolve this, go into the Address Book application. Select the vCard that is "your" card. Now in the menu bar, go to "Card". On the drop down menu, select "Make this my card". You should now be able to accept iCal invitations without any issues. When I upgraded to 10.5.1 the issue came back and this method seemed to resolve it.

Problem using the FederatedSearch / Result set empty

If the query is "*" I will get the right number of documents.

The plan is to be running with more than just two sites (though at the moment I am testing with only two).
What happens is a client comes on-line and requests a list of sites from a router. It then picks one of the sites from the list and adds that as a replication site in the repmgr.
It then goes about opening up the database and doing some other bookeeping. Finally we start the replication manager and once the NEWMASTER event is recieved a sync is done.
So while this DELAYCLIENT/rep_sync is a bit overkill for the two-site test I am doing now, the design I am working towards will be a multi-site setup.
