Problem Using Stacks

I need help using the Stacks feature in the Dock. When I drag a document out of the Finder and move it into a folder in the Dock, the entire document is removed from the Finder. No trace of the document is left in the Finder. Then, if I delete the document from the folder in the Dock the document is lost - it does not reappear in the Finder. What am I doing wrong? I would like to be able to use Stacks without risking the loss of my documents.

The folders (Stacks) in the Dock are just aliases to actual folders somewhere on your computers.
When you move something from a Folder in the Finder to a folder (stack) in the Dock, the file gets moved to the folder that is represented by the Stacked folder.
If you right-click (or ctrl-click) on the stack icon in the dock, you can choose "Show in Finder," and it will open the actual folder that is being aliased by the stack.
So, if you've moved a file to a folder in the Dock, and then deleted it from the folder that is represented by the Stack on the Dock, you will have deleted the actual file.
What is shown on the face of the Dock are aliases (shortcuts) to actual items. If you remove one of the aliases, the original is not deleted. If you remove what is in the aliases on the Dock, you will delete the original, as that is what is there.

    I'm trying to solve the N-Queens problem using Stacks. Quite frankly, I'm completely lost.
    Here's the pseudocode from the book:
    "Push information onto the stack indicating the first choice is a queen in row 1, column 1.

    First off I'll address this:

        }Notice the last line of that. I get what you're trying to do, but think about what the compiler sees there. If you have two variables called 'n', one at the class level, and one at the method level, the compiler must have rules so it knows which one you're talking about. And if it follows those rules, then saying 'n' inside that method must always refer to the same n. Otherwise, how would it decide which one you're talking about? The rule here is that it uses the most local variable available to it, which in this case is your method parameter. So 'n = n' is setting the parameter equal to itself. To refer to the class variable n, use "this.n", like so:
    this.n = n;Now that that's settled, let's address some logic. You'll need to figure out whether two Queens share a diagonal. I can think of at least a couple options for that. First, every time you look at a Queen you could loop through the entire board and make sure that if a piece is in r3c4, that no piece is in r2c3,r4c5,r5c6, etc. Or you could create a new variable for your class similar to your 'row' and 'column' variables that tracks the diagonal a piece is in. But that requires some calculating. And remember, there's 2 directions for diagonals, so you'll need 2 diagonal variables.

    int d2 = (7 + row) - column;But remember, that 7 in the formula above, is based on how big your grid is. So whatever your 'N' is, whether its a 10x10 square or a 574x574 square, that 7 should be changed to (N-1)
    So those could be your variables to track diagonals. What I'm noticing in your current code, is that you never change your row and column variables...so every Queen is always at r0c0. You should probably put values for those in your parameters for the constructor, in addition to n. Then the diagonals can be calculated from those.

  • Problem using stacks in CS4

    So I want to try to edit in  stacks but cant seem to get it to work. my  understanding is the the usual command is file, scripts, load into stack  and then once your files load you go file, scripts, statistics, my  problem is that there is not file, scripts, statistics for me. I'm using  CS4 extended so I should have it. My layer, smart objects, stack mode  is always grayed out too. (weather I convert the top file to a smart  object, or all the files or select all and then convert to smart object,  which flattens the layers). So Im wondering if there is some setting I  have changed that would prevent me form using stacks? or if im just  missing something, thanks Im using windows 7, PS CS4 version 11.0.2

    Are you using CS4, or CS4 Extended?  The stacks are only creatable in extended.

    how can i store characters in a Stack using the Stack class . I see that the Stack class takes only Objects so how can i make it take a character.

    The Character class wrap a char. So, when you store one char in the Stack you must put:
    stack.push(new Character(myChar));
    and, to get the char put:
    char c = ((Character)stack.pop()).charValue();

    My question is, i used trigger, when new form instance in the block... then the ocx is in the canvass type=stacked. when i open, it wont apear the flash i have to click the ocx to play the flash... but i need to used the stacked ..i have multiple ocx in stacked, in content.
    in content it works but in stacked have to click to play...

    I need to display it on the screen by using stacked column chart. I mean XAxis as "STAGE" YAxis as "TOTAL PCS" and "OPERATION" as series. I used DataBIndCrossTable as

    But, the results in the chart is displaying it in the first STAGE it self. I mean xaxis value 1 has all the yaxis value.
    Can anyone please help me to get the results as first image?

    After that, I tried setting permissions for the cwallet.sso file to ugo+rwx, but this leads to the same problems as mentioned above.
    My second try was to setup an external WLS 12c, but it seems to be not yet possible to connect to a WLS 12c from within jDeveloper.

    After debugging the WLS Initialisation with jdb, I recognized that there was some trouble with dependent libraries.
    In the end, I solved my problem by using another OS (Ubuntu 11.10) for development. There, the WLS works out of the box, even with 64-Bit libraries.

  • Problem using Toshiba Software Installer for Win 7 on Satellite L750-1MT

    I have problem using Toshiba Software Installer for Win 7 on Satellite L750-1MT (PSK30E-02T002B3) with no OS preinstalled.
    I do the following:
    1. Install Windows 7 x64, SP1.
    2. Install LAN driver (device was not recognized by Windows 6) (downloaded from [http://se.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/supportMyProduct.do?service=SE&LNG=26&userAction=S MP_RESULTS_PAGE&partNumber=PSK30E-02T002B3&serialNumber=&USER_ACTION=Serial%20number])
    3. Install all Windows Updates from Microsoft
    4. Run Toshiba Software Installer for Win 7 - it installs a couple of drivers and then asks to reboot.
    Here is the log file for the first try (win7update.log):

    You are right this notebook model was delivered without OS.
    Win7 64bit is supported for this notebook model and all necessary drivers, tools and utilities are available on Toshiba download page.
    What I can say is that all this stuff must be installed in right install order. I know it sounds stupid now but I recommend you to make clean OS again and continue installation following this installation order:

  • Problem with Stacked Bar Chart

    I have a problem with a stacked bar chart in Numbers 09. My chart is a single series with 6 categories. All of the categories have different values. The first 5 categories display correctly. However, the last category does not display in the color its supposed to, but rather shows up as white/background instead of the grey color shown on the legend. However, the value label is displayed in the proper place.
    When I select other chart types (pie, regular bar, or regular column) the category shows up like it's supposed to.
    This is kind of annoying since I would rather use stacked bar instead of a pie chart. Is there an upper limit on the number of values it can display as a stacked bar chart? Is this just a bug? Thanks!

    Here's my result with six values in a single series. I double clicked the last bar to change its colour from the default grey (which was visible) to magenta.

    I am having problem using multiple contexts in the same thread. Here is the scenario:
    front-end is calling a ejb1 with a user1 and password. Ejb1 is then calling ejb2
    using user2 and password. I am getting security exception when calling ejb2 with
    the message user1 is not authorized. Looking at the documentation, context 2 should
    be pushed on stack on top of context 1 and context 2 should then be used until
    context.close() is called. It looks like this is not the case in this scenario?

    I have the GTX670. So pretty much the same.
    When I go to  Edit>Preferences>Playback I see:
    When I select the monitor I am not currently using for Premiere Pro, the Program Monitor shows up full size at 1920X1080 in that monitor.
    While that may not help you, at least you know a similar card can do the job and you know that it should work.. What happens if you drop down to two monitors? Will it work then?
    Also, have you performed the hack that allows Premiere Pro to use the card since that card is not in the file? I have no idea if that is relevant at all, by the way. It is just an attempt at getting our systems to work the same way.

  • Rendering problem using meteor inside an HTML overlay

    Hi everyone,
    I'm having a pretty specific problem, using meteor, and could really use some help.
    I've posted a detailed description of the problem on Stack Overflow, but the gist of it is this:
    Inside of Adobe DPS, the headless browser used in overlays on iOS 6.1.7 has some issues with meteor.
    specifically:
    1- every meteor page -- no matter if it's just the out-of-the-box Hello Meteor page -- generates a non-obtrusive error: TypeError: 'undefined' is not a function.  There's no stack trace, no other details (I used debuggify to discover the error)
    2- after redirect from the "accept permissions" page(s) using the Facebook Login Alternative flow, the page will not render.
    Neither of these errors occurs inside Mobile Safari, or Mobile Chrome on the iPad. 
    I believe this may be caused by some of the restrictions we're putting on the headless browser (hence error #1), and is a combination of the redirect having a hash (#) after the URL, and (maybe?) handlebars or some other js framework not loading in time.
    If anyone has any ideas -- either to solve this specific problem, or a workaround for me (I need to log in to facebook using meteor, inside a DPS article HTML overlay on an iPad) I'd really appreciate it.

    Unfortunately if something works in Mobile Safari that doesnt' mean it'll work in DPS, due to how the iOS Web Control works. It's kinda, but not exactly, the same as Mobile Safari, and sometimes things work in one but not the other. This isn't something we have control over either, it's just how the OS control works.

  • Problems using SessionBroker with WebSphere

    I have some problems using a SessionBroker with WebSphere 5.1. In our project we use Entity Beans with BMP and everything works fine as long as we use a ServerSession. But when I use a SessionBroker instead, even though it wraps only one session, I get a NullPointerException every time I try to access an Entity Bean. See the stack trace below.
    It is important for our project to use multiple sessions and relationships between objects coming from different sessions in the next stage of the development
    By the way: The server session uses the appropriate external transaction controller, i.e. oracle.toplink.jts.was.JTSExternalTransactionController_5_1

    Unfortunately there is no way to do this in 9.0.4. This has been fixed in the 10.1.3 preview release, in 9.0.4 you will need to create your session broker in code to work around the problem.

  • Problem using File sharing  in a small office network

    I have a problem using File sharing on an Imac and Macbook Pro.
    My office has a small network running Windows Small office file server 2003. I have one Windows 2000 PC connected to it and 3 Macs, an 2.4 gHz Intel iMac running Leopard 10.5.6 , a MBP running the same and a Mac Mini running 10.5.
    From the Finder Shared window of the Mac Mini, I can see all the computers on the network. It also used to be the case for the iMac, but the MBP could never see the Windows PC’s, not the server or the Win2000. This wasn’t a big problem as I was communicating between the Macs and using the shared printer on the iMac.
    On Monday Jan 19 the iMac was suddenly unavailable to the other 2 Macs. It was working normally on the Friday. The iMac can access the Mac Mini and copy files to it. The Mac Mini can see the iMac but cannot access it. Even trying to connect as, ends in a failed connection. I have tried rebooting, turning File sharing off and then on again to no avail.
    The iMac now also cannot see the Windows PC’s which it previously could.
    To get files from the MBP for printing, I now copy it to the Mac Mini and acces the folder from the iMac, a very tedious procedure. I don’t know why this happened and am scared that the Mac Mini is going to do the same thing.
    All three computers are also running VMware 2.0 with Windows XP pro, and from VMware the server is visible on all the computers.
    Any help will be much appreciated, I live in a small town in South Africa and the local computer suppliers have no knowledge of the Macs.
    I think that the problem with the iMac may have started after a software upgrade to 10.5.6 but I am not entirely sure.

    Well, you're current method sounds pretty good. But if you want to user a file server, hey go ahead.
    What you want to do when you centralize project files is to keep track of which one is the newest and becareful not to overwrite files with the same name. So you either have to set up individual spaces on the server (separate AFP/FTP folders maybe), or you'll need to run a file checkout service.
    The individual space is cheaper, but it's not much of a difference from backing up to the network drive. Since you have Gigabit connections, you might even opt to save ALL the user files on the server instead of just the project files.
    If you want to run a file checkout service, there's two approaches. You can run a service that can host any kind of file, or you can run a version control system for each kind of application (Photoshop, Word, etc.). Please notice, that as you read further and further along, the methods become more and more expensive and complicated. Once you get to this point, it will be necessary to purchase or build software in addition to the Mac OS X Server package.

  • Huge problem using apple mail while sending email to a group...

    Hey - I am quite confused... apple mail has huge problems using groups with about 150 addresses when writing and sending an email... the writing of emails is nearly impossible. Once the group name is inserted in the addressline (address book in iCloud!), apple mail uses nearly 100% CPU and further writing is nearly impossible. When sending such an email, all addresses are suddenly visible - though the box is NOT checked and the addresses should be hidden... what can I do? I use this feature (sending mails to groups) on a daily basis and cannot accept visible addresses...

    How about next time you send to the group, cc yourself, or include yourself in the group. Then receive the email on the iphone, you can "reply all" in order to send to the group. If you use an imap account, you can make a new folder, call it something like "groups", and save different group emails there for the next time you need to "reply all".

    If your phone is locked to a particular carrier, you must contact them to request they unlock it. Once they've taken care of that and you've followed the instructions to complete the unlock process, you will be able to use the phone elsewhere.
