Problem when re-running a form that reads BLOB into OLE (form6i)

I have a simple form which reads and writes a blob column into
an OLE item. The form runs fine at the first round, but when I
attempt to run agian it hangs and I have to do CTRL-ALT-DEL or
reset the computer in most cases. This problem occures at the
office and at home. However when I ran the same form using my
colleague's pc it looked oky.
The only difference beteen my PC's and his is that I have Office
2000 and he has 97.

It seems that you have not initially updated BLOB field with
empty_blob(). I have same application with 70 users working on
it. try following query where blob is null
update <Your table name >
set <blob field name > = empty_blob()
where <your where condition will go here>;

Did you have the same problem when you directly run the form within the application server?
Try to tnsping the SID of the database directly within the application server.

How to do to appear records in a text item when I run my form?

In a form I have a block with BASE TABLE=OPTIUNI_COD.
In this block I have a text item named DENUMIRE.When I run my form the text item is empty and I use F7 , F8 to have some records in the text item.
But I want to appear records in this text item when I run my form without use F7,F8.
How can I do this?

In a When-New-Form-Instance trigger you can use this:

I have a problem when I run the DTP

hello
the day before , I load data in a PSA "MASTER DATA" mode full,
then in the morning I load data again this "MASTER DATA."
I can see that the same lines do not not present a problem but the lines were changed, i have a problem when I run the DTP?
I get this messages errors:

As this is a master data load, the attribute change run is mandatory before performing the next load.
The probable reason for this is in the master data table there is an entry for a characterisitic value and the load resulted in another value. The difference between these two records is the object version. Exisitng record will have A version and the changed record has M version.
So when we active master data(attribute change run ) then M version overwrites A version and hence on a net we have only one record in master data table.
Post the above task if we again load master data, as is in your case, then the record will find its place in M version.
As the activation is not performed(probably), the system finds it difficult, with previously loaded M version and currently loaded M version and hence the reason for the message.

I got a problem when I update unicode form :(
so, I have already tested my web application (Struts-ibatis-velocity-tiles) on my PC (tomcat 5.5.12, mysql 4.1 - utf8 default, JDK 5.0), everything was okie. I could update 1 unicode form (the form which contains unicode characters - firstname, lastname). I use 1 filter for output and input, below is my web.xml:

You need to install the bc package. Apparently the script uses bc to calculate some integer values.

I have set "Show Horizontal Scroll Bar" to "Yes" and "Show Vertical Scroll Bar" to "Yes" in the WINDOW Property.

You should show block property
and set block scroll bar

I am running this version, and still have this behavior. Is there anything I may be missing, and/or certain circumstances that may still be causing this?

I looked at the CAR ID that you mentioned and the issue has been resolved in LabVIEW 8.2.1. To verify something similar, I ran the attached VI and things worked just fine. Please feel free to send me the steps to follow to reproduce the issue you are running into in 8.2.1.

Single form that puts data into 5 tables

Hi,
I'm new to ApEx, I want to create a name and address form, that puts data into 5 tables at once, all on the same form.
Is this possible with ApEx looking at the tables?
or do I need to create a database procedure and point ApEx at that?
I have a couple of books, but I can't find an example that does what I want to do.
A URL to another resource would be a great help.

Hi,
I can't remember the exact reason,
It was something to do with there being a many to one to many join in the tables in the view.
[table] > [link table] < [table]
then there isn't a parent child relationship in either direction.
I think that the other problem in webdb was the view was updated using a 'like' command
This was not good as the primary key is a number.
Since we are probably migrating to ApEx, and a procedure already exists to perform this functionality, I'll give that a try.

FORMS60_MAPPING = http://MYHOST:XXXX/abc/
where MYHOST is my host server
XXXX is the port number of listener
abc is a virtual path
FORMS60_OUTPUT = C:\ORANT\WEBTEMP
which is a valid path.
Are they correct ?
Can you tell me what is the purpose of setting the above params ?

Using WEBUTIL in the Menu - problems when not in current form..

We make a webutil call in the menu - but it is a problem when the current form does not have webutil attached to it.
Is there any work around other than putting webutil in 100 forms?
OPEN_FORM/CALL_FORM both affected.

I've just spotted this thread, so my comments might be too late to be useful, but... I had a similar problem, and as Eric suggested, went for the approach of having a single, small form dedicated solely to running Webutil functions. Any form or menu option that needs to do something WebUtil-related (e.g. 'I need to have File A moved from the apps server to the client') calls a library routine which then calls the dedicated form, passing it all the instructions it needs to carry out the action. Control then returns to the original form. At the moment, I leave the dedicated form in the background in modeless state, so it can be used again if needed elsewhere without having to be reloaded. (If the user tries to click on the modeless form, it shoves control straight back to the 'main' form.)
I read somewhere that ideally you shouldn't WebUtil-enable every form, if most of the time, most of them won't use it. There's the overhead of initialising all the beans every time a form is opened, and it seems to me that that's relatively intensive, as bean usage goes. Not a showstopper by any means, though.

How to run the form that is only installed on a PC and not using a server?

I am new to Oracle and have taken the forms class. But I do not understand how to run the form from my PC using XP windows. (Do not have access to a server).
I have started the OC4J, made sure the listener was started, compiled the form and then when I run it, it automatically goes to the HTTP:

I connected to the database correctly. I can process a report and it does nor try to access the internet. My only issue is running the form. I verified it compiled.
Sorry for a basic question. Could someone please help, I tried reviewing other questions, but not sure if they are connecting to a server or not.

Regardless of the version, it appears that you may not have configured the Builder. Do the following:
1. Open the Builder
2. From the menu, select Edit > Preferences > Runtime
3. In the box labeled "Application Server URL:", enter a local URL needed to run a form OR click the button labeled "Reset to Default". If you decide to manually enter a value, it would looks something like this:
http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet
4. In the field labeled "Web Browser Location:", enter the path and executable to your preferred browser. So for example if IE is your browser of choice the entry would most likely look like this:
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
5. Click on OK and retest.
By the way, you can manually enter a URL in the browser. Clicking the RunForm button from the Builder is strictly optional. To run the "test" form directly from the browser enter the following into the browser's address field:
http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet?form=test
