Problem with a classloader

Is there possibility creating an instance of own classloader for each session ?
I have a lot of static variable and I don't want that another thin client overwrite
them.
Can I load instance of classloader for each user's session but not during run
aplication ?

  • Urgent! Serious problem with J2EE Classloader!

    Hi all,
    I'm having a serious problem with j2ee Classloading.
    I have "inherited" a J2EE application where all business classes (invoked by the EJB) are placed in the Application's Server classpath (Weblogic 8.1.4).
    Very bad because every time a class is changed the a.s. must be restarted.
    So I re-enginereed the package putting the business classes in a jar that is referenced by the EJB's MANIFEST file.
    This way all the classes would be loaded by the EJB classloader and no need to start/stop weblogic.
    Unfortunately it's not such !! I discovered that all business classes are loaded via REFLECTION
    Object objCommand = objClass.newInstance();
    Object[] param = new Object[1];
    param[0] = aDataContainer;
    objDataContainerReturn = (DataContainer) objMethod.invoke(objCommand,param);
    and the application server cannot find them using the standard J2EE Classloader mechanism.

    On the other hand they're found if I put the classes on the application server classpath.
    Has anybody got advice for this ? Should I refactor the application giving up reflection ?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Reflection uses the classloader as well so it should work fine.
    A common cause of a NoClassDefFoundError is something in a parent classloader that refers to something only available in a child loader.
    For instance, do you have any of your application classes which are in the $CLASSPATH but reference something that is only (now) in the business.jar in your ear?

  • XMLEncoder stackoverflow problem with custom classloader

    Hi, All
    I'm tring encoding my object using XMLEncoder, the objects are from the custom classloader like URLClassLoader which is importing several jar files at run-time.
    source code is like this:
    XMLEncoder e = new XMLEncoder(new BufferedOutputStream(os));
    e.writeObject( sourceObj);
    When I run it, I experienced this error:
    XMLEncoder has "ClassNotFoundException" or "InstantiationException" problem.
    so I found very similar posting for this problem and modified it so that the XMLEncoder can find my classes from custom classloader:
    ClassLoader cl = this.getClass().getClassLoader();
    URLClassLoader urlClassLoader = new URLClassLoader(urls, cl);
    Thread.currentThread().setContextClassLoader(urlClassLoader);
    XMLEncoder e = new XMLEncoder(new BufferedOutputStream(os));
    e.writeObject( sourceObj);
    The result was slightly changed. However, still disappointing:

    When I finally include the jar files into the classpath so that the default classloader can reference them, the encoder worked properly.
    Anyone can help me?

    StackOverFlow is quite a gotcha in XMLEncoder it is often because of the following code in java.beans.PersistenceDelegate:
    public void writeObject(Object oldInstance, Encoder out) {
    Object newInstance = out.get(oldInstance);
    if (!mutatesTo(oldInstance, newInstance)) {
    out.remove(oldInstance);
    out.writeExpression(instantiate(oldInstance, out));
    else {
    initialize(oldInstance.getClass(), oldInstance, newInstance, out);
    and the following code in java.beans.DefaultPersistenceDelegate:
    protected boolean mutatesTo(Object oldInstance, Object newInstance) {
    // Assume the instance is either mutable or a singleton
    // if it has a nullary constructor.
    return (constructor.length == 0) || !definesEquals(oldInstance) ?
    super.mutatesTo(oldInstance, newInstance) :
    oldInstance.equals(newInstance);
    What this means is if you have a class (you want to persist) that has a constructor that takes arguments AND defines an equals method AND you have overridden initialize in DefaultPersistenceDelegate to do some extra work after it instantiates newInstance, then while the PersistenceDelegate is trying to generate you newInstance, oldInstance.equals(newInstance) will return false, and PersistenceDelegate will keep trying to instantiate a newInstance that does equal the oldInstance.
    So if you do use DefaultPersistenceDelegate then ensure that you override mutatesTo so that it is:
    protected boolean mutatesTo(Object oldInstance, Object newInstance) {
    return (newInstance != null && oldInstance.getClass() == newInstance.getClass());
    Here is an example PersistenceDelegate that persistence a class called PersistentBeanCollection, it calls its constructor with the property "type" and then calls the method add() on the newInstance.
    new DefaultPersistenceDelegate(new String[]{"type"}) {
    protected void initialize(Class type, Object oldInstance, Object newInstance, Encoder out) {
    PersistentBeanCollection oldBeanCollection = (PersistentBeanCollection) oldInstance;
    for (Iterator iterator = oldBeanCollection.iterator(); iterator.hasNext();) {
    out.writeStatement(new Statement(oldInstance, "add", new Object[]{iterator.next()}));
    protected boolean mutatesTo(Object oldInstance, Object newInstance) {
    return (newInstance != null && oldInstance.getClass() == newInstance.getClass());
    Cheers

  • OC4J (9.0.2) problem with the classloader

    Dear all,
    We have developped an application which will run into the Application Server.
    Our application writes a .java file at RunTime and compiles it with the javac compiler, into a custom directory. This is done without problems. After the building step, our application instantiates the new compiled classes. To perform this task, we have written a custom ClassLoader which searches (into a custom directory) and loads these classes.
    The PROBLEM is that this procedure, works very well if the application is running outside the application server ( launching it by hands ), but it crashes, with a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError exception, when it's running into the OC4J AS. In particular our application, when is running into OC4J, is launched by a Session EJB.
    Do you have any suggestions ? I think this could be related to a security issue, but I'm not sure.
    Best regards,
    davide

    Davide,
    Why do you need a custom class loader ? Why can't you compile the class to a location that is in your application class path then use
    Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader() to load that class. We were having similar problems loading properties files in EJBs and we were able to fix it by using Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader to load the properties file.
    One caveat is that you need to specify the location of the compiled class/resource in the orion-application.xml file using the following tag. Please note that the path specified here is relative to the location of the orion-application.xml file (application-deployments directory)
    <library path="../../applications/cfaupdater/" />
    Of Course we did all this in 9.0.4 to load properties files so your situation is a little different but you could try this to see if it works

  • Problem with classloader (for shared-lib's) on oc4j 10.0.3.4 under jdk 1.5

    I have a project that runs great on oc4j 10.0.3.4 under jdk 1.6. (everything worked great)
    I recently tried to run it under jdk 1.5 and i've run into a little problem with the shared-lib's:
    The classloader's debug file reports the following: (i have translated some of it)
    Class error: oracle.classloader.util.AnnotatedNoClassDefFoundError:
         Missing class: javax.xml.bind.JAXBContext
    Dependant class: nl.comp.util.XmlUtil
         Classloader: comp:0.1
         Code-source: /C:/programs/oc4j/j2ee/home/shared-lib/comp/0.1/comp.jar
         Configuration: <code-source> in /c:/programs/oc4j/j2ee/home/config/server.xml
    The missing class is available from the following location:
         1. Code-source: /C:/programs/oc4j/lib/xml.jar (from <code-source> (ignore manifest Class-Path) in META-INF/boot.xml in C:\programs\oc4j\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar)
    This code-source is available from classloader oracle.xml:10.1.0_2
         2. Code-source: /C:/programs/oc4j/j2ee/home/shared-lib/jaxb/2.1.6/jaxb-api.jar (from <code-source> in /c:/programs/oc4j/j2ee/home/config/server.xml)
    This code-source is available from classloader jaxb:2.1.6.
    So the classloader knows where to find the necessary lib, but it isn't loading it? If i run the exact same code (with same descriptors and everything) under jdk 1.6, it works, under 1.5 i get the above error.
    What is different on the class loader level between the two jdk versions that might affect the program in such a way?
    Need i update a descriptor or do something else?

    Jack,
    Not a definitive answer for you (sorry), just a few suggestions (that I assume you are unaware of).
    1. Try unsetting your "ClassPath" variable. Open a "command" window and type the following:
    set ClassPath=2. Launch OC4J from the directory where the "oc4j.jar" file is located, for example:
    D:
    cd oc4j\j2ee\home
    java -jar oc4j.jar3. I'm just guessing, but if your drive "D:" is a mapped, network drive, this may be causing the problem. Perhaps try installing OC4J on a local drive?
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Problem with EJB skeleton classloader

    Hi
    We have been migrating an enterprise application from Weblogic 7 to 9.2 and experienced strange problem with EJBs. Our EAR contains (beside the other elements) an EJB module with EJBs and some common POJO classes inside. At the deploy and run phase everything seems working fine, but when the remote client invokes a method which receives one of the common classes as a parameter we get ClassNotFoundException on the server side (talking precisely, the exception is thrown from the EJB skeleton, trying to unmarshall the parameter).
    It seems that our EJB's skeletons do not see the classes from EAR. We have tried moving the common classes to the APP-INF/lib directory or placing them at the root of EAR archive and adding reference in Manifest file of EJB module and it won't help.
    The only workaround we've found is to add the missing classes to the server classpath but this is unacceptable (however, it works).
    We are not using any custom classloader hierarchy.
    The other JARs have no problem loading the content of our EJB module (including the common classes, which cause the problem).
    So, why is the RMI classloader ommiting our application contents?

    The problem was fixed by upgrading to version 9.2.1

  • Problem with XMLDecoder and a custom ClassLoader

    NOTE: Posted over in Serialization forum as more appropriate there, sorry for the crosspost but didn't notice that forum at first. Please direct any replies there.
    I am implementing an application based around Java Plugin Framework (jpf.sourceforge.net). In short one consequence of this framework is that each plugin uses its own classloader with scope of that plugins classes.
    One plugin I am using requires the ability to deserialize objects from a javabean xml file. I am using XMLDecoder to do this, and I used the constructor to pass the current plugin ClassLoader to it.
    This however only partially seems to work, this is a shortened extract from an example xml
    <java version="1.5.0" class="java.beans.XMLDecoder">
    <object class="usermanager.javabeans.BeanUser">
      <string>drftpd</string>
      <void property="downloadedBytes">
       <long>737132544</long>
      </void>
      <void property="hostMaskCollection">
       <void method="add">
        <object class="usermanager.HostMask">
         <string>*@*</string>
        </object>
       </void>
      </void>
       <void property="keyedMap">
       <void method="put">
        <object class="dynamicdata.Key">
         <class>commands.UserManagement</class>
         <string>slots</string>
         <class>java.lang.Integer</class>
        </object>
        <int>0</int>
       </void>
    etc...Now without passing XMLDecoder a ClassLoader as would be expected I get a ClassNotFoundException for the first <object>.
    However if I pass XMLDecoder the correct ClassLoader it reads the xml fine until it reaches <class>commands.UserManagement</class> at which point again I get a ClassNotFoundException.
    Here is the stacktrace from that exception:

         at usermanager.javabeans.BeanUserManager.loadUser(BeanUserManager.java:128)
    Now after looking through some of the source it appears to me at least that XMLDecoder when processing an <object> uses an ObjectHandler with the ClassLoader as a parameter, however a class contained within a <class> element gets handled by Statement.invoke() which uses an ObjectHandler without a ClassLoader specified thus using the standard ClassLoader.
    I've managed to work around it for now by setting the contextClassLoader to the correct one before calling readObject() in XMLDecoder and then reverting it back immediately after, but this feels like somewhat of a hack to me.
    I would've expected it to have been properly handled when passing the ClassLoader to XMLDecoder rather than like it is.
    Anyone know if this is intended behaviour or a bug? and if the former is there any recommended way to deal with this other than the one I'm currently using.

    You can provide a cell renderer to the JTree to paint the checkBox.
    The following code checks or unchecks the box with each click also:
    _tree.setCellRenderer(new DefaultTreeCellRenderer()
      private JCheckBox checkBox = null;
      public Component getTreeCellRendererComponent(JTree tree,
                                                    Object value,
                                                    boolean selected,
                                                    boolean expanded,
                                                    boolean leaf,
                                                    int row,
                                                    boolean hasFocus)
        // Each node will be drawn as a check box
        if (checkBox == null)
          checkBox  = new JCheckBox();
          checkBox .setBackground(tree.getBackground());
        DefaultMutableTreeNode node = (DefaultMutableTreeNode)value;
        checkBox.setText(node.getUserObject().toString());
        checkBox.setSelected(selected);
        return checkBox;
    });

  • Problem with reflection in Generics

    I'm using the Prototype compiler for JSR-014 and I am having a big problem with reflection. In the simplest case
    class n<T> {
        void go() {
         this.getGenericType().getTypeParameters();
         this.getClass().getGenericInterfaces();
    }I get a "cannot resolve symbol" on both lines. A glance at the jar included with the prototype shows why: all the collection classes are there, and a lot of the java.lang types, but not java.lang.Class and none of the java.lang.reflection classes.
    So what gives? Is reflection not supported yet? (gaak!) Is there another jar I am supposed to download?
    Thanks

    Schapel is right.
    but also
    The signatures for fields and methods will include the generic types.
    If you really wanted to, this would work.
    get the Class's ClassLoader,
    work out the name of the Class's file, and get an inputStream to this resource (from the classloader). (This bit works because I use as a diagnostics tool to see if classes are loaded from my jar, or my patches directory - see below).
    Write some stuff to read the class file and parse out the generic signatures for the things you are interested in.
    I don't think this last part would fit into anyones definition of "fun", however the specs are all available, and it may turn out simpler than at first appearances.
    Here's the code I use to get the location of where a class is loaded from.
        static URL getLoadPath(Class theClass) {
            StringBuffer resourcename = new StringBuffer(theClass.getName());
            for(int i=0;i < resourcename.length(); i++) {
                if(resourcename.charAt(i) == '.') {
                    resourcename.setCharAt(i,'/');
            resourcename.append(".class");
            return theClass.getClassLoader().getResource(resourcename.toString());
        }if you use getResourceAsStream() in place of getResource() you will have the .class file as an inputStream which you can read and parse.
    Have Fun

  • Problem with ClassCastException in web application

    Hello,
              I'm trying to deploy a web application in WLS 5.1 and I'm getting the
              "dreaded" ClassCastException every time when JSP tries to read a bean
              from the request or session. Under my architecture (actually it's just
              the regular "model 2" ) bean is populated by a servlet, set on the
              request and then retrieved by JSP (servlet forwards to JSP). Everything
              work fine when I register servlets in weblogic.properties, but
              ClassCastException is thrown on any attempt to read from the request if
              the same JSPs and servlets are deployed as web application.
              Has anybody come across the same problem?
              Thanks in advance for help.
              Alexander

    Hello,
              This is all well and good as a temporary bug, but it's totally unrealistic for
              the future. Two points:
              * The ClassLoader doesn't need to be discarded, it just needs to be cleared.
              * Other servlet engines seem to be able to handle this.
              Hope it's on its way to resolution!

  • ADF Tutorial: problem with chapter 10 (Deploying the Application)

    Hi!
    I'm learning from ADF Tutorial (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/ADFBC_tutorial_1013/index.htm) and I have problem with chapter 10. After deploying finished application on the server (OracleAS10g) I try to test it but I get this error everytime:
    500 Internal Server Error
    Servlet error: An exception occured. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.
    I get this error after typing login credentials. I didn't consult the log, because I don't know where to look for it (could you tell me please?). I did everything as described in the Tutorial, but I know there are mistakes (in Tutorial), so I don't know what to do.
    Thanks for any advices.

    Hi,
    I'm running Windows XP, JDeveloper version 10.1.3.4.0, Oracle AS 10g version 10.1.3.4.0 with patch. When I tried to deploy same application on Windows Vista and OC4J, it work perfectly, which really confuses me. I think I found log file so I will post it here. It's long, I'm sorry about that:

    Hi Guillaume,
    I have been "playing" with section you mentioned since yesterday, but I could reach my goal :(
    An example of the problem is as following:
    Manager 1 is added to both “Project Managers” and “Resource Managers”. Accordingly he is added to “My Projects” category permission.
    Manager2.TeamLead1 (not a descendent of Manager 1) is added to only “Project Managers” and accordingly he is added to “My Projects” category permission.
    I want (Manager2.TeamLead1)’s projects to viewable only for his Manager 2 (and the Director), not for Manager 1, because the Manager1 is not responsible for managing his work
    How can I achieve that ?? :)
    Thanks,

  • Problem with creation of jar with external libraries

    hi guys, I've no problem with creation of jar,i use this command:
    jar -mcf MANIFEST.MF NameFile.jar *.class
    my file manifest is this:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: Me
    Main-Class: NameFile
    Now,I've to make a jar file,but i have to use some external libraries in jar format.
    I've read on sun tutorial and i've added to manifest this line:
    Class-Path: dt.jar formshelp.jar formsrt.jar jh.jar looks-1.3.1.jar substance.jar TableLayout.jar
    But the jar file doesn't work, neither with a double click nor with console...
    Someone can help me?Thanks!:)

    Darkweb wrote:
    sorry but,the external libraries that i use are in .jar,what i've to do to include these libraries in my jar?One of 3 things
    1) Take them out of the jar, and put them in a folder, preferably a folder in the same folder as the jar
    2) Write a custom classloader to load classes from nested jars
    3) Extract the contents of all the dependency jars, and jar them all up with your own code
    The first is almost always the most preferable, the second one is doable but brittle and resistent to updating dependencies ( you have to release everything for any changes you need, even if it's not a change in your own code ) and the third one is tedious and suffers from the same robustness problems of the second, not to mention that a lot of software licences prohibit you from actually doing it. Do the first one, it's by far the most common and easiest to maintain. I really wouldn't advise the third option, ever, though. Any activity that reduces the modularity of your application is ill-advised

  • Weblogic 10.3.5.0 problem with hibernate criteria

    Hi,
    I have problim with using Hibernate Criteria on Weblogic server. Everithing works fine on Tomcat.
    On weblogic I can execute this on Weblogic :
    Query query = sessionFactory.getCurrentSession().createSQLQuery("select sysdate from dual");//To get string date
    String result = query.uniqueResult().toString();
    ,but I have problem with executing criteria which work on tomcat:
         Criteria crit=sessionFactory.getCurrentSession().createCriteria(MyclassWithHibernate.class);
         crit.setFirstResult(0);
         crit.setMaxResults(1);
         return (MyclassWithHibernate) crit.uniqueResult();
    On weblogic, same criteria return me null and I get this exception:

    Thanks for any help.

    Which code snippet is throwing the nullpointerexception?
    Does Spring create the SessionFactory?
    Maybe it is related but when running Hibernate on WebLogic you have to take care of a classloading issue with the antlr libary,
