Problem with a sign Applet - certificate isn't recognized

Hello to all the java experts
I have created a certificate using keytool. I have exported the certificate and installed it on the computers of the users. The certificate worked well on all the computers except one. I have got a message:
java.security.cert.certificateException unable to verify the certificate CA root
I want to add that when I installed this certificate I got a message that it was imported successfully and I have also seen that the certificate is valid. I imported it by double-clicking on the crt file and choosing "install certificate". I also tried to import it by using the command: keytool -import -alias company -keystore carets -storepass changeit -file c:\crtfile.crt.
I have checked that the certificate was imported by the command:
keytool -list -v -keystore company
The only thing which is different on this computer is the plugin of swing (1.3.01 and not 1.3.02)
What can cause to this problem? How can I fix it?

Hey thanks. I wasn't able to get it to work with that sample but I did find this very similar code that does allow javascript to call JFileChooser in an applets public method.

It seems a bit tempermental in that if you don't select a file quickly, it will hang the browser....no perfect solution but I'm going in the right direction.

Problems with RSA Signed Applets methods called by JavaScript

Hi Folks,
I need to give all permissions to an Applet used in an Intranet application, so I signed the jar containing it with a RSA self-cert and I did the same for all the other jar files userd by the applet.
The applet runs under Java Plugin with JRE 1.5.0_06: I am requested by the browser to install the cert and all works fine.
When a JavaScript function calls a public method of the applet I received a security exception when the code tries to read a system property.
The same method works fine if called by the applet itself or by a gui event (i.e. a button click) inside the applet, so the problem seems to be related to the fact the applet is used by JavaScript (in Explorer 6).
Does anyone know some way to overcome this problem????

E-Mail Setup fails with self-signed SSL certificat...

Hi, one of my e-mails is with a small provider who just moved the mail server to Imap and SSL. In Thunderbird, everything works fine, setup on my Nokia C-6-fails with an unspecific error message (and trows away the settings). I asked the provider, and it seems that the problem comes up because the Nokia e-mail application doesn't asked me if I want to accept the certificate but instead rejects it. Is there a workaround to this problem? Is there a way to setup the mail account without using the wizard? Or to take over the settings from Thunderbird? Or a way to put the certificate in the right place manually? In Opera mobile I have no trouble with self-signed SSL certificates. Thanks Cave

Problem with focus on applet - jvm1.6

Hi,
I have a problem with focus on applet in html page with tag object using jvm 1.6.
focus on applet work fine when moving with tab in a IEbrowser page with applet executed with jvm 1.5_10 or sup, but the same don't work with jvm1.6 or jvm 1.5 with plugin1.6.
with jvm 1.5 it's possible to move focus on elements of IEbrowser page and enter and exit to applet.
i execut the same applet with the same jvm, but after installation of plugin 1.6, when applet gain focus don't release it.
instead if i execute the same applet with jvm 1.6, applet can't gain focus and manage keyevent, all keyevent are intercepted from browser page.

From what you have described, I think the best approach would be to restore the original IDT driver, restart the computer, test that driver, then install the driver update, and test the outcome of installing the newest driver.
Use the following link for instructions to recovery the ITD driver using Recovery Manager. Restoring applications and drivers.
Once the driver is restored, restart the computer and test the audio. If the audio is good you can continue to use this driver, or you can reinstall the update and see what happens. IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver.
If installing the newest driver causes the issue to occur but the recovered driver worked, I suggest recovering again.
If neither driver works I will gladly follow up and provide any assistance I can.

Changing of the standard port 1521 and afterward problems with Single Sign

System / Host Environment
Operating System: HP-UX 11i, Existing Oracle RDBMS Vers. 9.2 x, Listener on standard port 1521
9iAS System Architecture: 9iAS Infrastructure and Middle tier (AS Instance) on the same machine
Problem Environment:
-Before and during the installation of 9iAS infrastructure the Listener of the existing Oracle RDBMS was stopped
-The installation of 9iAS Infrastructure (db: IASDB) Version 9.0.2.0 works well
-Afterwards the port 1521 of IASDB changed to 1525. For a detail description of IASB port changing please refer to Doc. ID: 211 929.1 AFTER CHANGE 'IASDB' LISTENER PORT
-The installation of Patch Set 2 (Common Patch 2703110) follows (9iAS is now up to Release 9.0.2.2).
-The Installation of 9iAS Middle tier (AS Instance) Version 9.0.3 follows
Problem description:
-During the installation of 9iAS Middle tier problems with Single Sign On occurs.
The reason of this problems seems a communication problem between the Single Sign On login sequence and the IASDB. After a reset of the port changing (back to the standard port 1521) the installation of 9iAS Middle tier works well.
Through this incorrect and problematic behaviour we have some notes and questions:
-Well at first the description of the port changing in Doc. ID: 211 929.1 seems us incomplete. Some configuration still carry on the standard port 1521 and not the knew value of the port 1525.
-So we want to know all configuration files and parts where we have to change the port value manually ?
-What will happened to the Single Sign On function with this manually port changing. Does Single Sign On works later on correct or have we to change much more ?

Currently, changing the listener port is not supported. It must stay on 1521. I believe this is to be fixed in a latter release (perhaps 9.0.4)

Problems with Self Signed Certificate

I have installed a self-signed client certificate on my Windows 7 workstation. (64 bit Professional)
The project is to use VPN/IKEv2 to connect my windows 7 workstation to a Linux 7 server. (using machine certificates)
To that end I generated a self-signed certificate and exported the client certificate to my windows 7 workstation.
I used the certmgr to install the certificate in the CA Trusted Store.
However when I try to connect the workstation to the server via a vpn session I get the 13806 error.
Upon reviewing the installed certificate I noted these two messages:
Windows does not have enough information to verify this certificate
The issuer of this certificate could not be found.
So my question is how do I "tell' my windows 7 system to go ahead and accept the certificate and/or somehow tell the
the system the issuer of the certificate should be trusted.

According to your description and the error messages ,it seems that the self-signed certificate is not trusted or supported by Windows 7 machine .
How did you get the certificate ?
It is recommended to ask for help from the certificate issuer support .

Actually the above same prob is faced by me in my application.
The application's digital signature can not vertifed
Due to this pop up, our customer thinks our certi is nt valid & its nt possible to make them understand abt it since they feel insecure.
This warning appears due to JVM running along with application.
If we go to
Control Panel->Java->Security->Certificates and choose secure sites in Certificate type.
Here link of my web application should appear, in order to remove this warning.
So is there any way so that link of my web application shpuld be directly installed on the above mentioned location on Client's PC??? or any other alternative

Signed applets certificates keystore

In the docs of Java Plug-in 1.4.2: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/control_panel.html#signed it is said that all certificates of signed applets which jave been granted permissions for always are imported into certificate file jpicerts<version> located in the <user home>/.java directory.
But I suspect this is a bug in the doc, or that information is obsolete. I have imported with Java Plug-in GUI (Certificates Tab) several ones and that file doesn't appears.
Any idea of which is really the keystore for these certificates in 1.4.2_07 version?

Because the default java.policy doesn't have a keystore entry a signedby clause in this
policy won't work.
You might add the keystore entry in the java.policy (C:\Program
Files\Java\jre1.5.0\lib\security on windows) but did not find any onformation on that.
A good structure would be (in my opinion ) to add a policy and keystore in the
user.home folder (admin read only) where the user can request personal identity and
policy settings and one on the companys intranet indicating company identity and
policy settings.

Problems with receiving signed message in outlook

I have a problem with signing message using Javamail. I use a sample program code that I got from some tutorial - it seems to work fine but when I receive the message using outlook express there are fallowing warnings:
- the message has been changed by untrusted people
- the e-mail address from the certificete:... (here ma address) doesn't match the address of the sender:... (here no adress)
I set all the varables: 'sender', 'replyTo', 'return-path' and 'from' with my address used in the certificate. I don't know why there is no address after the word: sender. Maybe some of you had such a problem, solved it and could share with me what is wrong with my message?

It's me again. I solved the problem.
The first warning was because I changed the message after signing it, before sending :), and the second (that was worse) was because I was setting up all possible fields: sender, from, reply to and return-path - only sender should be set - now everything works great :)

We installed successfully 'oracle Infrastructure' 10.1.2. We navigated to infrastructure home, the single sign-on status is'Down' and other components are 'Up'.

I have the same problem. I installed succesfully Oracle10g on SLSE9 but the single sign-On is every down I followed all step but the problem isn't resolved.
I would like the infrastructure on Linux you have any idea?
