Problem with combination of two working query formulas

Hey guys,
I have a problem in building a formula correctly with the BEx formula logic. I am sure, you can help me with this.
Right now I have four columns in my query. The first column (Actual) displays actual amounts either in local (10) or reporting (25) currency type depending on the optional selection either in the variable screen or in the free characteristics filter. The second column (Actual with Budget exch. rate) always shows the actual amounts with the budget exchange rate of the reporting currency. The third column (Budget) is build in the same way as the first column, but shows budget amount data. In the fourth column (Variance) the variance between budget and actual data should be calculated, but here lies the problem:
The formula should differentiate the chosen columns for the calculation depending on what currency type is selected either from the optional variable selection before the query is executed or from the free characteristics filter. So if I select currency type 10 it should calculate the variance by subtracting the budget column from the first column, but if I select currency type 25 it should subtract the budget columng from the second column.
I have implemented a formula which works already, but not for both selection possibilities (variable screen or free characteristics filter). Either the formula works when I input a currency type in the variable selection screen or when I select a filter value in the free characteristics filter. However, I need to combine both formulas in one working formula so that the user can choose if he wants to filter the currency already in the variable screen in the beginning or in the filter after query execution. Here are the two formulas which I need to get combined into one formula:
Used Variables:
VScreen_Selection --> value from the key of the optional Currency Type Variable from the Variable Selection Screen
Filter_Selection: --> value from the key of the InfoObject Currency Type
Formula for Variable Screen Selection:
(VScreen_Selection == 10) * (Budget - Actual) + (VScreen_Selection == 25) * (Budget - Actual with Budget exch. rate)
Formula for Free Characteristics Filter Selection:
(Filter_Selection == 10) * (Budget - Actual) + (Filter_Selection == 25) * (Budget - Actual with Budget exch. rate)
Can you help me to combine both Formulas? I can't believe that this is too difficult. Many Thanks in advance.
Best Greets,
Norbert

Hello.
Did you try this:
Formula 1: Hidden
(VScreen_Selection == 10) * (Budget - Actual) + (VScreen_Selection == 25) * (Budget - Actual with Budget exch. rate)
Formula 2: Hidden
(Filter_Selection == 10) * (Budget - Actual) + (Filter_Selection == 25) * (Budget - Actual with Budget exch. rate)
Formula 3:
(Filter_Selection <> 10) * (Filter_Selection <> 25) *Formula 1 +
(VScreen_Selection <> 10) * (VScreen_Selection <> 25)*Formula 2

  • Problem with hierarchy variable while displaying query in Portal

    Hi,
    I came up with an problem with a query in the portal.  The problem is :
    I have one query which is displayed in the portal. The Query has hierarchial selection criteria. I am executing the same query using analyzer. Its taking the variable from the selection and displaying it on the analyzer. I have used the option to " display the query on web " from the BEX query designer. From there its opening and displaying the results with the given selection criteria.
    Where as when i open the query seperately in portal, its not displaying the results.
    I came to know from one of my colleague that the porblem is with the Web item and the hierarchial variable declared in WAD  was different from the variable declared in the BEX Query designer.
    I never Worked with WAD. I tried finding out the variable definition. But i was unable to find out where the Hierarchial variable was defined.
    Please help me out regarding the same.

    The problem is sovled.

  • Problem with period over two months

    Hello all,
    I have a problem on my report. When I select a period with two dates in the same month, all the data are displayed.
    When I select a period from november to december, only the first and last date data are displayed.
    Where is the problem ? How could I resolve it ?
    I have also a problem if I select two dates which are not in the database, I have a constrained problem.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Problems with FLV on two different servers

    Hello all,
    I am using an embedded FLV player on a site. On one site it is working fine, but they FLV's won't play on the other site. The files are identical. I set up a test file that points to the various player files (flvplayer.swf and swfobject.js) and then the FLV. I can switch between the two FLV files and the one will play and the other won't. It's not the FLV itself as I've done several tests with different files. It's not the player that I can tell as it works fine on both servers. It's something with the server settings and how it serves up FLV's.
    Is there a specific port that needs to be opened? I just took a look and suprise, suprise, the server on the faulty side is running IIS. The working server is Apache.
    Thanks for any help. This is a really frustrating problem.

    I've done some more research and it looks like it may be a MIME problem with IIS.I've contacted the hosting service and we'll see if that fixes it.

  • Problem with HP SimpleSave not working

     I have a 1TB HP SmartSave external HDD, before hand it was with my father and I recently tried to use it again. It's not working, and here are the details:
    - When it's plugged in my laptop recognizes it as a CD drive, but one with only 884 KB of space
    - Upon clicking the drive, the only thing there is the HP Launcher (552 KB), and I'm guessing this is the problem.
    - Obviously, clicking the launcher does nothing.
    - I tried looking into the problem and saw the solution about downloading the SimpleSave's software and launching it from inside the HD, but I can't do that because according to my laptop the HD only has 884 KB of space. Any attempt to copy files to the location or extract them there comes up with a "not enough space" error.
    - I'm also unable to delete the current HP Launcher application or format this thing.
    So, any ideas? I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

    Hello malehussey,
    The HDD is not being seen and the limited space is the CD emulator thats attached to the drive being reported.
    The CD emulator is a bridge that has to be used for SimpleSave to work.
    Have you tried using it in another computer to rule out any issues with your laptop?
    If it does work, we can go from there.
    Can you tell if the hard drive spins when plugged in?
    Also go into Disk Management to see if the HDD is recognized or shows as Unallocated Space. Right click My Computer and choose Manage/Disk Management (depending on which operating system you have).
    If it does not show at all, its most likely that the hard drive has met its end of life.
    You could go further (if you like tinkering) and tear the case apart, remove the CD card attached to the HDD and hook the HDD directly to a SATA port on a desktop type of PC with a SATA cord. Also you can use a USB to SATA adapter or a HDD Dock to plug the drive into a laptop. Then you can see if the drive will work properly. If it does, then theres a problem with the CD card or connection in the case. The case alone cannot be used to connect the HDD without the CD card installed because of the hookups.
    If you can extract the files saved on the SimpleSave drive, you will not be able to use any SimpleSave backups (and possibly any other files saved either) unless you have the CD card hooked to the drive first. The CD card encrypts and decrypts the data on the SimpleSave drive.
    Bottom line, its most likely time to buy another external drive.

  • Problem with getting iPod to work.

    I'm having a problem with getting an iPod to connect to my computers. Also I can't even really get it to run. My brother gave it to me one or two years ago and it had these problems I just didn't think of the idea of going directly to Apple to figure it out. It's a 30 GB black iPod if that helps. When I plugged it in it showed the battery symbol. When I leave it for a while it shows the Apple symbol. Then it comes up with this: http://spirrwell.webatu.com/ipod.jpg If you can help thanks in advance!

  • Problem with creating a collection from query

    This is driving me nuts. What I am trying to do is create a collection but the sql to create it is produced dynamically. The query I want to end up with in this example is -
    select pr.code,pr.description, max(decode(pe.period_beginning,'01-NOV-08',fe.effort,0)) NOV_08,1 NOV_08_PERIOD_ID, max(decode(pe.period_beginning,'01-DEC-08',fe.effort,0)) DEC_08,21 DEC_08_PERIOD_ID, max(decode(pe.period_beginning,'01-JAN-09',fe.effort,0)) JAN_09,22 JAN_09_PERIOD_ID, max(decode(pe.period_beginning,'01-FEB-09',fe.effort,0)) FEB_09,41 FEB_09_PERIOD_ID, max(decode(pe.period_beginning,'01-MAR-09',fe.effort,0)) MAR_09,81 MAR_09_PERIOD_ID from forecast_projects pr,forecast_periods pe,forecast_effort fe
    where pr.id=fe.project_id(+)
    and pe.id(+)=fe.period_id group by pr.code,pr.description order by pr.code
    but the list of dates within single quotes are derived from some pl/sql which pulls them from a table.
    So my pl/sql looks like this -
    begin
    if apex_collection.collection_exists(p_collection_name=>'KEANEFORECAST') then
    apex_collection.delete_collection(p_collection_name=>'KEANEFORECAST');
    end if;
    declare
    l_period date;
    l_period_id number := 0;
    l_query varchar2(1400) := '';
    l_query_start varchar2(1400) := 'select pr.code,pr.description,';
    l_query_part1 varchar2(1400) := ' max(decode(pe.period_beginning,''';
    l_query_part2 varchar2(1400) := ''',fe.effort,0)) ';
    l_query_end varchar2(1400) := ' from forecast_projects pr,forecast_periods pe,forecast_effort fe
    where pr.id=fe.project_id(+)
    and pe.id(+)=fe.period_id group by pr.code,pr.description order by pr.code';
    begin
    for c1 in (
    select id,period_beginning into l_period_id,l_period
    from forecast_periods order by 1) loop
    l_query := l_query || l_query_part1 || c1.period_beginning || l_query_part2 ||
    replace(substr(c1.period_beginning,4),'-','_') || ',' || c1.id || ' ' ||
    replace(substr(c1.period_beginning,4),'-','_') || '_PERIOD_ID,';
    end loop;
    l_query := substr(l_query,0,length(l_query)-1);
    l_query := l_query_start || l_query || l_query_end;
    dbms_output.put_line(l_query);
    apex_collection.create_collection_from_query(
    p_collection_name=>'KEANEFORECAST',
    p_query=> l_query);
    end;
    end;
    Now what happens is that the query is produced perfectly - the dbms_output.put_line gives me the exact query as quoted at the top of my posting, and if I run it I get the desired results. If I run this whole block of pl/sql it also works absolutely fine and my collection is created - great.
    However if I put this pl/sql into an onLoad Before Header block then when I try to run the page I get the following -
    ORA-20104: create_collection_from_query Error:ORA-20104: create_collection_from_query ParseErr:ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected
    I think it is getting in a mess with the quotes in the query, but I do not know why and I have been racking my brains to think of a workaround. It's odd that it works fine if I run it standalone in the SQL Commands tab but not as a page process.
    I'd be really grateful for any advice/pointers here.
    Thanks in advance.

    You are an absolute star - thank you! What this enabled me to do was to see the query being produced - which was showing it different to that which dbms_output.put_line reported - no idea why this should be. Anyway this allowed me to correct a couple of things which then enabled it all to work.
    The thing that showed as different was the representation of a date field - dbms_output.put_Line was showing this in DD-MON-YYYY format whereas the debug showed it with a timestamp portion.
    Thank you again.

  • Problems with getting email to work in iFS.

    Hi,
    I have stumbled into some problems with the sendmail functionality in iFS. I have a working installation of iFS and now I would like my users to be able to receive mail and have these appear in the inbox folder. I think that I have followed the instructions for installing sendmail and configured the SMTP Protocol Server on NT.
    But the situation is this:
    The Protocol servers are running, I can use IMAP to check the INBOX. Sendmail receives the mail and it is placed i a queue, but iFS does not accept and connection from Sendmail.
    The SMTP log file has the following entry:

  • Having problems with some links not working. Especially with webhost

    I sent this about 1/2 hour ago but never received the confirming email so thought I would try again. Sorry about the dupe if you did receive this.
    I am having a problem with Firefox. I have a website that I need to check stats with. I was able to login but when I clicked on the link for the stats nothing happened. No new page, no new window, no new screen. I tried all links and still nothing. At bottom of page it said "done". Then I got out of the webhost and tried other links, some worked some didn't.
    I went into Safari to check, and I was able to get my stats, so I tried again on Firefox, still nothing. I noticed a few other problems also, where I got the strangest things happening. Like when I tried to get on GoogleAds and YahooAds it didn't recognize me and also started redirecting me to other stuff.
    I prefer using Firefox, is there anyway to make the fixes?

    Downgrading is not supported by Apple.
    For better or worse, the burden is on app developers to make their apps compliant to the current iOS. If they haven't done that, then unfortunately users are stuck until they do so. The most you can do is communicate your issues to your app developers and see if they will get an update out to make their app work again. That or find another app.

  • Acer Liquid E700 problem with headphone jack, not working properly.

    Here I am again, what a surprise! Reporting another problem with my 2 month old ACER LIQUID E700. Now the problem is, the headphone jack isnt working properly. When I watch movies, or play music with a headphone or earphone, the dialogue or conversations during movies , or the lyrics sang when playing music, can barely be heard. Also , everytime I connect my earphone it the E700, theres a fast ticking sound, which is faint but you can really hear it, and thats when I realized something was wrong. P.S This phone was never dropped or gotten wet. Im really starting to regret buying an acer phone.Any acer representatives out there who know whats going on?

    Well airstrike2014, I do know how it happened to me, it's weird but definitely how it happened, so I was downloading a electrical razor app to scare my friends (I know, it's stupid, but anyway) and the app works by vibrating at full power and playing a electric razor sound, but it would only vibrate (and the app description said that it would make some sounds too) and I tried maxing out my sound but there was really no way to make it play any sounds. I got tired of it 5 mins later and uninstalled thinking the problem was in the app or something, but I go watch a YouTube video right after and no sound was coming out either, even with the volume maxed out and with headphones, so I restart my phone, now sounds play perfectly when there aren't any headphones plugged in but when there are, it now happens what you described there, a tick sound lasting the first few seconds the headphones are plugged in and if I try to play any media it happens that "instrumental effect", other heaphones do the same, so it's obviously the phone.I mean, is it really possible that some kind of problem occurred while trying to vibrate and play sound at the same time? Well it was for me, the phone was fine until then.Sorry for the boringly long post haha

  • Problem with lookup value by CAML query.

    I just cannot figure out what is wrong with my code that the query does not filter any item. It returns all items in the list. The RowLimit does work so I know the query is used. I wish someone can point out what is wrong in the query. Many thanks.
    SPList tList = cWeb.Lists[listName];
    SPQuery LookupQuery =
    new
    SPQuery();
    //LookupQuery.RowLimit = 5;
    LookupQuery.Query =
    "<Query><Where><Eq><FieldRef Name='ItemStatus' /><Value Type='Text'>New</Value></Eq></Where></Query>";
    SPListItemCollection iColl = tList.GetItems(LookupQuery);
    int n = iColl.Count;

    Try removing the starting and ending <Query> tags. Your CAML query assignment should look like below
    LookupQuery.Query = "<Where><Eq><FieldRef Name='ItemStatus' /><Value Type='Text'>New</Value></Eq></Where>";

  • Problem with combination of ClobDomain and DB Trigger

    Hi all,
    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.2.0.0 (Build 1811), Oracle RDBMS 10.1.0.4.0
    I have a DB Table which contains a CLOB column. This column is mapped in the EntityObject with the java type ClobDomain. Insert, update and delete actions are handled correctly by BC4J. The problem is that the database trigger on the table always gives me an empty CLOB object instead of the correct data.
    PL/SQL trigger
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER SYNC_CLOB
    AFTER INSERT OR UPDATE OR DELETE ON MYTABLE
    FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    IF (DELETING OR
    :NEW.clobcolumn IS NULL OR
    DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(:NEW.clobcolumn) = 0) THEN
    -- Delete record from sync table
    ELSE
    -- Insert/Update record in sync table
    END IF;
    END;
    Scenario
    When I do an insert or update (in BC4J) that contains data for the clobcolumn, the clobcolumn is populated correctly, but the trigger always deletes the record in the sync table because the length of the CLOB is always zero. If I remove the condition DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(:NEW.clobcolumn) = 0 a empty CLOB is inserted/updated in the sync table.
    When I do an insert or update via SQL*Plus that contains data for the clobcolumn the trigger inserts/updates the correct CLOB value in the sync table.
    This leads me to the conclusion that there is a problem with the ClobDomain.
    Has this got something to do with the way the ClobDomain handles the dml operations (streaming to a LOB locator)?
    Can somebody help me?
    Thanks,
    Steven.

  • TS3274 i have problem with the sound not working

    i have problem with the sounds not working

    Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod/Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
    Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

  • Select query with combination of two columns

    I need looking to write a nested select statement that would achieve the following.
    Support i have a table as follows
    TestTable
    Name : Age : Country
    Test1 : 10 : USA
    Test2 : 11 : USA
    Test3 : 12 : USA
    Test4 : 11 : Canada
    Test5 : 12 : Canada
    Now i want to select from the above table the following information.
    Get all the names of people who dont belong to this combinations (10:USA,11:Canada,12:Canada). The list can be huge.
    The result should be
    Test1:10:USA
    Test1:12:USA
    If it were one combination i can write
    select * from TestTable
    where age <> 10 and country <>Canada
    Also i can also do
    select * from TestTable
    where age NOT IN (10,11) and country NOT IN (USA,COUNTRY)
    But i don't this it would give me correct result.

    sush_msn wrote:
    Is there a way i can pass the age and country as list to the query ?You asked the right question.
    Three things you need to know:
    1) Your test data doesn't cover all combinations. Here is more complete test data:create table test_table1 as
    WITH AGES AS (
      SELECT LEVEL+10 AGE FROM DUAL CONNECT BY LEVEL <= 3
    ), COUNTRIES AS (
      SELECT 'USA' COUNTRY FROM DUAL
      UNION ALL
      SELECT 'CANADA' COUNTRY FROM DUAL
    SELECT 'Test' || ROWNUM NAME, AGE, COUNTRY FROM AGES, COUNTRIES;
    NAME                                                AGE COUNTRY
    Test1                                                11 USA
    Test2                                                11 CANADA
    Test3                                                12 USA
    Test4                                                12 CANADA
    Test5                                                13 USA
    Test6                                                13 CANADA2) Now here is the answer to your question. You can put two or more values together in an expression by putting parentheses around them.SELECT * FROM TEST_TABLE1
    WHERE (AGE, COUNTRY) NOT IN (
      (11, 'USA'),
      (12, 'CANADA')
    NAME                                                AGE COUNTRY
    Test2                                                11 CANADA
    Test3                                                12 USA
    Test5                                                13 USA
    Test6                                                13 CANADAThis is what Etbin did above, but he used a SELECT instead of a list of values.
    3) Can AGE or COUNTRY ever be NULL? Do you want to return the records that have NULL values in them? If so, you need to use NOT EXISTS instead of NOT IN. Warning: Etbin's code needs a little change: "where (age,country) = (t.age,t.country)" should be "where (age,country) = ((t.age,t.country))". You always need extra parentheses on the right side.

  • Problems with combination of ADF Faces, Tomahawk, Facelets and MyFaces

    Hello,
    I am trying to combine all things named in the Subject and run into several problems:
    1. ADF Render Kit forces the Tomahawk Components to be rendered in a wrong way or stop there functionality.
    Example 1: The clickable parts of the t:dataScroller Tag can not be accessed because an empty a Tag will be rendered after the outputText.
    Example 2: The t:commandSortHeader Tag can be clicked but the table content will not be sorted anymore.
    The given examples works if i remove the default-render-kit-id element from the faces-config.xml
    2. The ad:table Tag runs into an ClassCastException, only when I put a simple example code snipped into my xhtml file.

    I followed all steps for the ADF installation and the suggested steps for using ADF with Facelets.
    Used versions:
    - Oracle ADF Faces 10.1.3 Early Access
    - myFaces 1.1.1
    - Facelets 1.1.1
    - oc4j 10.1.2.0.2
    Has somebody try to use these things together, too?
    Thanks,
    Carsten

    Hi,
    Inside our fusion applications(ADF/Webcenter) using combination of JSTL and ADF Faces is good practice or pitfal?
    To suggest a a rule of thumb: Try ADF Faces on-board functionality first before reaching out to JSTL. The difference between JSF in general and JSTL is that the JSTL expressions are evaluated at page compile time wheras JSF expressions are evaluated deferred. This difference may have an impact to PPR refreshes and the data rendering (which in many cases I assume you can fix by setting the ADF Faces component content delivery to immediate instead of deferred). On a training slight I flagged JSTL with a "heads up" alert because of this
