Problem With Crystal Reports Reading Date Fields From CSV File

I have a date field in a CSV file in the format 06/28/09 17:23:55.523. When I use ODBC the configuartion picks it up a character field. I overright the recommendation type by specifing it is a date field but whne I bring the data into crystal reports the dates are blanks. Any suggestions on how to get around this problem. I need to use the date for selection records.

  • Problem with Pro*C reading BLOB field from Oracle 10g

    Hello Experts,
    We have a Pro*c application which is reading the BLOB data fields (a PNG image file) from Oracle data base. It holds the BLOB fields returned from the SQL query into a Unsigned Char structure in Pro*C. The program used work fine on AIX 32 – bit 4.3 and Oracle 8.1 environment.
    Recently, we have upgraded the environment to AIX 64-bit 5.3 and Oracle 10g.Since after the Pro*c program has problem in reading the Blob filed.
    Below is the query we are trying to execute –
    EXEC SQL
    SELECT
    signtre_image, image_file_name_ext
    INTO
    :msipLocalImage INDICATOR :msipLocalImage_i,
    :file_name_ext INDICATOR :file_name_ext_i
    FROM
    dcs_sign
    WHERE
    signtre_nbr = :signtre_nbr;
    Here signtre_image is the BLOB fields and msipLocalImage is a Pro*C structure define as below –
    typedef struct tagSignImage
    long len; /* Image length */
    unsigned char img[1]; /* Pointer to first byte. */
    } MOTS_SIGN_IMAGE;
    The quesry does not give any error or exception message in the Pro*C , program just stops at the point of executing the quesry..When we run the query commenting the BLOB filed it works fine. Also, the query runs good when we run it in the Oracle editor.
    There seems to be problem with the way we are reading the BLOB field in the new Oracle 10g enviromet.
    Does any body have any idea what’s wrong with this query? We really need it to work.
    Any Help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    - Rajan Yadav

    Thanks a ton for your response.
    We made the necessary changes as suggested by you.This time we got another flavour of error - SQL Error Code - Inconsistent error while reading BLOB.
    Another thing we noticed is that the data field which we are trying to read is defined as LONG RAW instead of a BLOB in data base.
    Are these two things related in any sense or is there anything else which is causing the error.
    Once again Thanks for your help.

  • Having problem with adding and reading dates to/from database !!!

    Hi
    I am new in J2ME
    I am trying to code a simple software.
    My problem is with dates.
    I have a datefield on my menu and the user will choose the date from here. By default, datefield shows todays date. But when I try to write that date to database using rms, date value transforms to java.util.Date@acfdb0fe.
    As I read from tutorials this is common problem of date class, so I tried to use calendar class.
    But with Calendar class I cannot let user to choose date from screen like DateField. datefield dowsn't work with calendar.
    later, I will use that date for sorting records
    Summary : I need a sample code that read date from screen (preferably with datefield), write it to recordstore. and then read it from recordstore asnd write to screen.
    I searching internet for a sample code through days.
    Please help me
    Thanks

    Hi,
    The best i would suggest is instead of storing the date as 19 Jan 2004 or something like this better store the date in milliseconds.
    DateField df = new DateField();
    Date d = df.getDate();
    long ms = d.getTime();
    store the value of ms in RMS. This is the commonly used way to store date in RMS for j2me.
    You can get back date using
    Date d = new Date(ms);
    DateField df = new DateField();
    df.setDate(d);
    Prabhu.

    so i have donwload an evaluation version of crystal report...
    thaks for u

    Hi alpacino,
       I know a really good actor that has the same name...and you're new to reports...hmmmmmmmm.....well, first of all,
    bravo to you for being able to write english at all.  I'm glad I don't have to learn it again.
       Go to the Group Expert and select one of your "levels".
    This will be your top group.  Then select the next "level", etc.
    I know you're not a dummy, but get a "Crystal Reports for Dummies" book and then a Crystal Reference book.  The dummy books are actually pretty good and give you a "from the ground" start.  Then keep coming back to the forum and test out your ideas by helping others.
    Hope this helps,
    The Panda

  • Reading Sheet name from csv file.

    Dear All,
    I am doing one program where i am reading contents from .csv file from oracle forms. I m using utl_file for reading the contents from .csv file.
    But problem is i am having 5 sheets under .csv file and i want to read fifth sheet's data. how do i jump to particular sheet in csv file. please help me in this case. this is very urgent.
    regards,
    Manish n

    I'm not sure of the format of a CSV with sheets : I assume it's a spreadsheet with multiple sheets ?
    I know that using Apache POI you can read (and write) native XLS or XLSX spreadsheets and then iterate through the sheets / rows cells. This requires java knowledge but works really well.

  • Problem with crystal reports get from All in One Best Practice package

    Hi,
    I tried to use Financial Statements crystal report download from All in One Best Practice package but encounter the below errors. I followed the guide in Manual Steps for Additional Datasource Creation to set up the additional data source. When i try to preview the report, I tried to set all the value to Null but the error message still appear. I believe this has something to do with the infoset but i not sure how to resolve this. Those report which connect to infoset doesnt seem to work for me.
    Errors:
    Failed to retrive data from database. (then i press OK)
    database connector error: 'no item structure data' (then i press OK)
    database connector error: 'RFC_Closed'
    Please advice
    Thank you

    Hi Afzal,
    I think you misunderstood. The crystal report i am talking about is the 23 crystal report template i get from All in One Best Practice package. All i need to do is follow the "Quick Guide to impletement SAP Best Practices for Business Intelligence V4.31" to make those template works. For those template that connect to Database type: SAP Table, Cluster or Function, i can make those work. The problem i facing now are those template (example: Financial Statements) that connect to Database type: SAP Info sets. The error i receive are stated in my first post.
    Please advice

  • Problem with Crystal reports for Eclipse and Postgres-databases

    Hi,
    Is there a known problem when using a PostgreSQL-database to create a report with Crystal reports Plugin? When I drag a table, then occurs a error-windows, that the object can't  created.
    I have found a workaround for solving the problem. After new installing Eclipse Platform Version: 3.4.1 Build id: M20080911-1700 and Crystal reports Plugin 11.8.6.v1371 with JRE 1.6.0_01 the error message allways occurs, when I select a table from a PostgreSQL database (Version 8.2). After restarting eclipse you see the last selected tables in the field explorer and you can drag the table fields in the report. A repeated choice of the same table causes aliases for the table in the field explorer after restarting eclipse.
    Error.log:

    Best Regards

    Your issue appears to be a Crystal Reports for Eclipse report designer thing, and not a JRC runtime thing.  The JRC runtime does support Type 4 JDBC drivers, but all modern PostgreSQL drivers are Type 4.
    The current report designer is more restrictive than the JRC runtime - and PostgreSQL, being not on the supported platforms list, has never been tested with the embedded designer.
    Unless there's anybody out there with experience with PostgreSQL and CR4E designer, who would be willing to share their experiences.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Problem with Crystal report viewer

    I am using Crystal viewer 2008 with Crystal report 2008.
    I am using a static parameter.  When running with viewer I can not clik on modify to change the parameter because the modify button is grey.
    Help ty.
    Also where can I read limit of using Crystal Viewer ?
    And how much to get something better ?

    You can update the parameters using Crystal Viewer 2008. I had the same problem with the "CHANGE" button being grayed out.
    Go to your Report -> Select Expert -> and now you have three choices: Record, Group, Saved Data. Put your select statement using your parameters in the Saved Data only (remove it from Record if already there).
    It works awesome and even works on dynamic parameters!

  • Problem Exporting Crystal Reports 8.5 to an rtf file

    I have an app written in VB 6, data stored in Access 2000 format and reports in Crystal Reports 8.5.  From print preview of CR 8.5, I chose to export the report to an rtf file. When opening the rtf file, the report has print over top of print as if when my headers are repeated the information that follows prints on top of the header.  It also appears that the page breaks are not the same which causes overflow to the next page. I suspect that it has something to do with choosing to repeat headers in my group sections in CR.  I need these headers to be repeated when previewing or printing the CR.
    We have tried exporting to Word 2003 and Word 2007 and it seems even worse.
    Any ideas for a remedy?
    Thank you.

    Hi
    If you are exporting the report using the custom application and there you are facing this issue, then please post the thread in Expert Forums » Crystal Reports and Xcelsius » .NET Development - Crystal Reports for quicker response.
    Else please try the below :
    1.Uncheck the option for repeat group header.
    2.Check Keep together for all the sections from the section expert.
    Export the report once again and see if that works.

  • Problem loading swf which reads data in a local file

    Hi,
    Using flex with a online project, I have to load a swf file, which reads data in a xml file (it works fine if I open it with flash player)
    I do a very simple test :
    <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
                    layout="absolute"
                    minWidth="955" minHeight="600"
                    >
        <mx:SWFLoader id="swfloader" source="data/player.swf"/>
    </mx:Application>
    The result is that player.swf can't read the xml file (error : Error #2044: ioError non pris en charge : text=Error #2032: Erreur de flux. URL: enonce.xml).
    I do the same test with an AIR project, and it works fine !!!!
    It works also if I put the xml file directly at the same level as my compiled application (in bin-debug for instance).
    I think that it's a path problem, but I don't know how to set it.
    Is there any way to solve the problem ???
    Thanks a lot !
    Olivier

    Hi,
    Thanks for your answer, but I am not sure to understand it.
    What code I have to adjust :
    - the code of the swf I load ? It's a problem because I don't have access to the source code : my customer provides me only a swf file (with the xml file), and I have a lot of others swf files that work the same way, I can't ask him to modify everything.
    - the code of my application ? I don't really see how to use LoaderUtil.createAbsoluteURL, because when I debug, I see in the SWFLoader code that when this method is called, the returned url is good !
    Thanks for your help.

  • Trouble with crystal report viewer - don't show swf file

    I tried to develop only the kernel of the application a form vb that call another form with

    (In the Crystal Report preview all wors fine)

    Unfortunately this functionality is not currently available within .NET windows forms applications.  It will work in ASP.NET applications.

  • Paging problem with Crystal Report Viewer in VS 2013

    I am attempting to upgrade a VS 2008 project that uses a dozen plus Crystal Reports to display data for our owners.
    The problem that i am having is with navigating to other pages of any multiple page report using the paging buttons of the Report Viewer control. The report will load fine and display the first page. If I try and go to page two an overlay covers the screen and a progress graphic displays and will never go away.  I have to stop debugging the project and restart it.  I have been able to get the paging buttons to work if I click on one of the asp.net buttons that I have added to the page that run the .ShowFirstPage(), .ShowNextPage();.ShowPreviousPage(); or .ShowLastPage(); methods of the ReportViewer control.  When in click on one of these buttons an error displays within the ReportViewer control that reads simply "ERROR". From there I can click on one of the asp.net button described above and the report displays and at this time the navigation buttons work as expected.
    The parameters are being set via a series of asp controls and then stored in ViewState then passed to the ParameterFieldInfo of the ReportViewer control.
    This all works just fine in VS 2008 project but I have not been able to resolve the paging issue since upgrading.
    Does anyone have any ideas as two what may be causing this behavior?

    Thanks for your reply.
    I am on SP 9.
    I moved the block assigning the report source of the ReportViewer to the Page_Init method, but that did not change anything.
    The reports are loaded when the user clicks on a link button specifying the report that they wish to view.  In the click event of the button a method is called to set the LogOnInfo for each table of the reportsource;
    Tables  tables = reportSource.ReportDocument.Database.Tables;
    foreach ( CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table table in tables ) {
    var logonInfo = table.LogOnInfo;
    logonInfo.ConnectionInfo = connectionInfo;
    table.ApplyLogOnInfo( logonInfo );
    Then all the parameters are set;
    crvReportViewer.Visible = true;
    crvReportViewer.ParameterFieldInfo.Clear();
    SetDateValuesForParameterFields();
    SetEquipClassValuesForParameterFields();
    crvReportViewer.ParameterFieldInfo = paramFields;
    crvReportViewer.ParameterFieldInfo.AddRange( equipClassParamFields );
    Session[ "CurrentReportSource" ] = crvReportViewer.ReportSource;
    Then in the Page_Init I assign the ReportSource of the ReportViewer control;
        if (Session["CurrentReportSourceId"] != null)
    crvReportViewer.ReportSource = Session["CurrentReportSource"];
    And in Page_Load;
    if ( Page.IsPostBack ) {
                    ApplicationSettings appSettings = AppConfigSettings.LoadSettings();
    connectionInfo.ServerName = appSettings.PrimarySettings.Server;
    connectionInfo.DatabaseName = appSettings.PrimarySettings.DataSource;
    connectionInfo.UserID = appSettings.PrimarySettings.UserId;
    connectionInfo.Password = appSettings.PrimarySettings.Password;
    startDate.Name = "StartDate";
    endDate.Name = "EndDate";
    trailerNumber.Name = "TrailerNumber";
    location.Name = "LocationId";
    equipClass.Name = "EquipClass";
    txtStartDate.Focus();
    When in run this the reports will populate and display the first page but if I try to navigate to another page I get a error;
    Unhandled exception at line 12, column 82761 in http://localhost:63034/aspnet_client/system_web/4_0_30319/crystalreportviewers13/allInOne.js
    0x800a138f - Java Script runtime error: Unable to get property 'length' of undefined or null reference
    And on the screen there is a wait spinner.
    This all works fine in the VS2008 project.
    Thanks,
    Shannon
