Problem with datetime data type in Web Service

Hi,
  I created local ABAP proxy based on a WSDL and some of the fields for the SOAP methods has data type datetime:
name="MsgEndTimeStamp" type="s:dateTime" />
name="MsgStatus" type="s:string"/>
Since ABAP stack doesnt support dataTime data type it has created the proxy method with data type STRING.  Now when I call the proxy method (consuming the service) I get an error:
<CODE>SoapFaultCode:4</CODE>
<ERRORTEXT>Server was unable to read request. --> There is an error in XML document (1, 626). --> String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.</ERRORTEXT>
I am sure others have faced the same issue.  Can someone help?
Thanks

Thanks but I dont think that link is much relevant to the problems I am facing, because I cannot change the web service definition as it is used by many others.  Also the target application runs on oracle so thats why some of the fields are datetime and I dont want to change that, even if I could.
I am just stuck in creating the wrapper program to call the service since the SAP converts datetime data type to string and when the messages gets to the application it cannot convert string -> datetime.
thanks anyway

  • Working with complex data types in web services ...

    Hi All,
    I have created a webservice and created an interface for that in ADF. Now as my web service returns a complex data type, i followed the steps given in this article "http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/wsadf/adfcomplexwstypes.html" and it works fine, my results also get displayed. But only issue is i get a warning "JBO-25009: Cannot create an object of type:java.util.calendar with value:2008-09-23T23:51:30.000+05:30" and if i replace all the java.util.Date with oracle.jbo.domain.Date then i get a warning "JBO-25009: Cannot create an object of type:oracle.jbo.domain.Date with value:2008-09-23T23:51:30.000+05:30". Now i am unable to understand this although i believe it is a data type mapping issue, but not sure how to rectify it.
    Anybody knows the wayout?
    Regards
    Lokesh

    Andre,
    Thanks for youe response. I also tried makeing data type as string in place of date in data control.xml and it worked fine. So it confirms that i am facing with exactly similar issue as yours.
    I tried solution 2 mentioned in Frank's mail but its not helping[in fact i am already using web proxy as i am delaing with complex data types]. I created a web proxy and in java bean i placed break points to check the control flow[in order to check the root cause] but control never reaches the java bean!! I am not sure about the cause for it...control should pass through java bean isn't it??
    I am quite new to SOA...so can somebody just elaborate on how to rectify this using web proxy. I have been using this rl "http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/wsadf/adfcomplexwstypes.html" to work with web proxies" to work with proxies.

    In Sun C++, type bool is not equivalent to signed int. I don't think g++ makes it equivalent either.
    Please show an example of source code that is causing the problem.

  • Problem with packed data type variable?

    Hi all,
    I have a problem while doing calculations with packed data type variables . As they are saving in the format '0,00'. so unable to do calulations because of ',' .
    To convert these fields into str and replacing ',' with '.' is very time consuming because i have many packed data type variables.
    Can you please provide any other alternative for over coming this problem? Is there any option while defining these variables?
    Thanks,
    Vamshi.

    Hi VAMSHI KRISHNA,
    First check out SU01 Tcode (if u don't have permission then u can ask BASIS to do it)
    Enter User Name
    Execute
    Goto Defaults Tab
    Check Out Decimal Notation here... set it 1,234,567.89
    SAVE it
    Log Off once and again login with the same user id and check the result...
    Hope it will solve your problem..

  • Problems with permissions to execute a web service in a drop down list ...

    Hello:
    I have created several iView with VC and I integrated it into guided procedures process. In some of that VC iViews I have drop down list that are filled with data retrieved from web services created by us that doesnu2019t require any authentication.
    When I execute my VC iViews with the Administrator user everything works ok, but when I execute it with a different user the drop down list doesnu2019t retrieve any value, as if the corresponding web services where not executed.
    If I assign the "super_administrator" portal role to those users everythingu2019s goes OK. But I don't want that users to have that permission. Can anyone help me to identify which granular permission do I have to assign to that users in order to get the iView working as they are working for the "super_administrator" role?
    Thank you in advance.

    I solved this issue giving administrator read and end user permision in te portal systems creadted for the web services to a group to which all my users belongs.

  • Support for xs:date types in web services generated from EJB components

    I need to generate a Web Service from an EJB session bean based upon EJB entities generated from the Oracle 11g database that contain DATE type columns.
    JDeveloper creates java.sql.Timestamp types in the EJB Session bean and this results in an exception error when I try to generate a web service from this bean via webservice annotations:
    java.security.PrivilegedActionException: com.sun.xml.bind.v2.runtime.IllegalAnnotationsException: 1 counts of IllegalAnnotationExceptions
    java.sql.Timestamp does not have a no-arg default constructor
    I expected the web service wizard to generate argument types xs:dateTime or xs:date so this was an unwelcomed surprise.
    I tried manually adding a method to the session bean with java.util.date arguments and had no problems with the web service wizard that correctly created xs:dateTime arguments. Is there any particular reason why the EJB wizard does not generate java.util.date arguments or handle java.sql.Timestamp without failing with an exception?
    Since I begin with database tables and generate EJB entity classes and then web services with the Jdeveloper wizards it seems to me that there is a problem here in JDeveloper. Would you agree?
    There are several possible more or less appealing workarounds, such as doing manually adding methods to the EJB facade with java.util.date arguments and doing the conversion from/to java.sql.timestamp manually. Is this a reasonable approach or does JDeveloper support date/time for Date columns in some other way that I have missed?
    Very Grateful for any comments or suggestions.

  • Problems with deep request structure in web service

    I'm having problems when trying to consume an Enterprise Service-like web service in my Web Dynpro application. The web service FindXByElements has a request-structure as follows:
    XByElementsQuery
    -ProcessingConditions
    -QueryHitsMaximumNumberValue
    -QueryHitsUnlimitedIndicator
    -XSelectionByElements
    -ID
    -Year
    Regarding the structures on level two, the structure ProcessingConditions are of the global data type "WITHOUT_LASTRETURNED_QueryProcessingConditions" and are therefore typed. The structure XSelectionByElements on the other hand are just a "level" in the request structure and are therefore not typed. Both structures have occurrence 1 so they have to be filled with input data.
    The code in wdDoInit in the Component Controller looks like this:
    QueryXInModel model = new QueryXInModel();
    wdContext.nodeRequest_FindXByElements().bind(wdContext.createRequest_FindXByElementsElement(new Request_FindXByElements(model)));
    wdContext.currentRequest_FindXByElementsElement().modelObject().setXByElementsQuery(new XByElementsQuery_Sync(model));
    //Processing structure
    wdContext.currentXByElementsQueryElement().modelObject().setProcessingConditions(new WITHOUT_LASTRETURNED_QueryProcessingConditions(model));
    //Selection structure
    wdContext.currentXByElementsQueryElement().modelObject().setXSelectionByElements(new XSelectionByElements(model));
    The last row generates the following exception:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot perform write operation 'setRelatedModelObject' on target role: Class 'XSelectionByElements' is not compatible to class '$002fWsdlDefinitions$002fWsdlTypes$002fXsdSchema$002fXsdComplexType$005b3$005d$002fXsdSequence$002fXsdElement$005b2$005d$002fXsdComplexType' of target role 'XSelectionByElements' in model class 'XByElementsQuery_Sync'
    There seems to be a problem to bind a non-typed structure element to a context node since the processing structure is working fine but the selection structure are not.
    What am I doing wrong, anyone got any clues?
    /Oskar

    Hi
    QueryXInModel model = new QueryXInModel();

    XSelectionByElements
    ID

  • Problem with file receiving through abap web service

    Hi experts,
    I need to created web service for import file from .NET application into SAP.
    ABAP function expect hexadecimal string (same as GUI_UPLOAD / GUI_DOWNLOAD) but hexadecimal string from C# is too long (double longer), and I have no idea how to convert it. Also there is a problem with code page...
    Is there some better way to do this? Any idea is welcome!

    Hi Nemanja,
    Please bear in mind that your SAP system is based on UTF-8 encoding. Since you have the xstring length doubled, most probably your sender system uses UTF-16 encoding. So what you need to do is change the encoding used by your .NET application when sending the data to SAP.
    Alternatively, you can try using XSL Transformations in ABAP to have the input data converted from UTF-16-encoded xstring to ABAP structures. You can find a little example in this thread: ABAP data to XML conv with UTF-8 encoding and custom namespace. The point is to start your XSLT with the following: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>.
    Hope this helps,
    Greg

  • OBIEE-Answers Problems with NVARCHAR2 data type elements

    Hello experts,
    After we completed the .rpd development and ported to the real-time environment, when we try to create requests in Answers of Presentation services by selecting certain columns only and try to see results, we are getting an error if the columns are of NVARCHAR type. The error is given below.
    This is stopping end users being not able to create any answers/requests. Please suggest how we can resolve this or if any specific things need to be done to solve the problem.
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P

    Hello Damon,
    Thanks for the response.
    We have also tried to query the same data through SQL*Plus and it went well. We had no issues with any data. Also the .RPD is working in our local system with the same data, on windows OS. But when we port the .RPD in the Server (Sun Solaris) we are having problems with the columns which are considered as NVARCHAR2 in the database and VARCHAR in the Physical layer of BI.
    We observed there is no NVARCHAR2 data type supported in BI administrator in building the RPD. Is there any other datatype supports the NVARCHAR2 datatype in BI?
    Thanks,

  • Custom/Complex data types in web services

    Hi,
    I've read in several articles here on otn that JDev 9.0.3 would have better support for
    creating web services with complex datatypes (like java.util.LinkedList), but still (in the 9.0.3 Preview)
    theese methods are greyed out on the web service wizard. Am I missing something?
    Until now I've worked with Custom Serializers, but they are time consuming and hard to work with.
    /Mattias

    Here are the two articles that will help:
    JavaBeans as Web services parameter types:
    http://otn.oracle.com/tech/webservices/htdocs/samples/customtype/content.html
    Registering Web services custom serializers:
    http://otn.oracle.com/tech/webservices/htdocs/samples/serialize/content.html
    The new support in JDev 9.0.3 is that JavaBean parameters are now recognized by the JDev publishing wizards whereas in JDev 9.0.2 there was the workaround pointed to by the first article. In 9.0.2 the publishing support was only for primitive data types.
    The upside of the custom serializers, is you can re-use your existing serializers if they happen to have been written to Apache SOAP.
    Mike.

  • Custom data types for Web Service services

    Instead of language primitives (int, double) or Strings, is it possible to define custom data types (i.e. classes) for use in a service method argument or as a service return type? For example, if I create a class called MyClass then could I use it as an argument n a service as follows: someServiceMethod( MyClass myClassInstance). A service returning the custom type might look like this: MyClass getTheClassServiceMethod(String someString). Are either of these ideas possible?

    Hi there,
    you can use your own classes as service method argument or return type. But you should not forget to do a type mapping on both the service and client side.
    I can tell you, how I am sending and receiving my own datatype called "FileBean" which is a simple JavaBean with getter() and setter() methods for the properties.
    I'm using axis for deployment and tomcat as the web server, where my service runs on (currently only local but in future this will be remote).
    Service class: "InstallationService.java"
    Bean class: "FileBean.java"
    Client class: "FileSaving.java"
    My deploy.wsdd file has the following entry:
    <beanMapping qname="myNS:FileBean"
      xmlns:myNS="http://packageDelarationBackwards"
      languageSpecificType="java:packageDeclaration.FileBean"/>
    ...The method header in my service:
    public FileBean storeAttachments(FileBean file)The important part of my Client:
    QName qnFileBean = new QName("http://packageDelcarationBackwards", "FileBean");
    call = (Call) service.createCall();
    call.setTargetEndpointAddress( new java.net.URL(endpointURL) );
    call.setOperationName(new QName("InstallationService","storeAttachments"));
    call.setReturnType(qnFileBean);
    call.registerTypeMapping(
                            FileBean.class,
                            qnFileBean,
                            new BeanSerializerFactory(FileBean.class, qnFileBean),
                            new BeanDeserializerFactory(FileBean.class, qnFileBean));
    ....After deploying the service and starting the server I can send my "FileBean", work with it and give it back.
    Hope this helped. If you need more information, just let me know.

  • Problems with Custom Data Types when converting from TS 1.0 to 3.0.

    I am currently involved in the process of converting a test environment from TestStand 1.0, LabVIEW 5.1, and Windows NT to TestStand 3.0, LabVIEW 7.0, and Windows XP. We use a custom Operator Interface developed in LV. Based on the entered Model and Serial number, the appropriate Test Sequence is called. We also use a custom Process Model. The steps in the Test Sequence are either LV code modules or DLLs created in C++. We have LV SubVIs and C++ API functions that allow the developers of the test steps to add data to various Custom Data Types. For example, a developer may set up a test to add a note (Step.Result.Notes[x].String) when the test fails. Step.Result.Notes is a container for an array of strings. The attempt to set a note first attempts to use SetDimensions to redimension the array, then SetValString to set the value. These notes are added to the report. On the old system, everything worked fine. A note could be added to any result. On the new system, if a note is added to say the 5th result, but results 1-4 do not have a note, the test sequence ends and the Operator Interface returns to waiting for data entry (as if no test ever happened). No report is generated. The LabVIEW libraries have been modified to solve this problem by calling SetDimensions to incrementally increase the array size by one, and populating the unused TestStand array elements with an empty array of LabVIEW strings using the SetValString call . In other words, based on the previous example, if the user wants to set a note for the 5th result, the notes for results 1-4 must first be sent an empty array of strings. The report will only display the note for Result 5 (as desired). In addition to this being cumbersome, attempting to implement the same workaround in the C++ API has been unsuccessful because even though the note arrays for unwanted notes (1-4) is initialized with nothing, it is still displayed as a note (empty) on the report. If anybody knows what is wrong and what the solution is, it will be appreciated.

    Aaron,
    Thanks for your reply. I will attempt to clarify. I am working with a single step. The step calls a DLL. The DLL performs many 'checks' on the UUT (e.g. Model Number Check, Serial Number Check, Calibration Constants Check, etc.). Under the Type Palette - MyTypes.ini, we have a Step Type called TEST_DLL with a container in it called Results. In the Results container are a number of things, but I will only list the important ones:
    Notes (Array of Type 'Notes'; Type 'Notes' is a Custom Data Type (container, Type Definition)containing an array of strings called 'String')
    -Notes are generally set when on of the checks fails, otherwise no Note is set for the check.
    Val (Array of Type 'Val'; Type 'Val' is Custom Data Type (container, Type Definition) containing a Boolean called 'Boolean')
    -Val indicates whether the check passed of failed
    Pseudocode example:
    //Model Number Check
    check# = 0;
    resultBOOL = ModelNumberCheck();
    SetDimensions("Step.Result.Val", 0, "[0]", check#);
    SetValBoolean("Step.Result.Val[check#].Boolean", 0, resultBOOL);
    if(resultBOOL == FAIL)
    Note# = 0;
    SetDimensions("Step.Result.Notes", 0, "[0]", check#);
    SetDimensions(Step.Result.Notes[check#].String, 0, "[0]", Note#);
    SetValString("Step.Result.Notes[check#].String[Note#]", 0, "Model Number Check failed");
    Note# = 1;
    SetDimensions(Step.Result.Notes[check#].String, 0, "[0]", Note#);
    SetValString("Step.Result.Notes[check#].String[Note#]", 0, "Model Number = 1234");
    //Serial Number Check
    check# = 1;
    resultBOOL = SerialNumberCheck();
    SetDimensions("Step.Result.Val", 0, "[0]", check#);
    SetValBoolean("Step.Result.Val[check#].Boolean", 0, resultBOOL);
    if(resultBOOL == FAIL)
    Note# = 0;
    SetDimensions("Step.Result.Notes", 0, "[0]", check#);
    SetDimensions(Step.Result.Notes[check#].String, 0, "[0]", Note#);
    SetValString("Step.Result.Notes[check#].String[Note#]", 0, "Serial Number does not match expected");
    More Checks
    As you can see above, the "Step.Result.Val" array is redimensioned for every check. The "Step.Result.Notes" array is only redimensioned when a note needs to be added for a failing check. If the entire step executes and no check adds a note, the sequence is fine. If every check fails and therefore every check adds a note, the sequence is fine. However, if there are any gaps (e.g. check 0 adds a note, check 1 does not add a note, and check 2 tries to add a note), the sequence will stop. If I add blank notes for every check that would otherwise not have a note, the sequence completes, but the report shows the blank note.
    Also, the exact code that is causing these problems runs fine on our old systems (TestStand 1.0). I hope that I clarified the problem and thanks again for the help.

  • Problems with Memo data type in access

    I have a Java program which is connected to a Microsoft Access Database. When trying to get a Memo data type field out of the DB and putting it into a StringBuffer, it causes a Function sequence error, even though it does put the field into the said StringBuffer.
    For all other data types, like text (string), long integer etc there is no error but only for a memo field.
    What's the best way to get a memo field out of an Access DB without it causing problems? or should i just forget Microsoft's Access and make my DB in Oracle?

    Hi! Can you tell me how connect a java program with a Microsoft access DB? Should I have to use a particular driver? Where I can find it?
    thank you vcery much for your help!!

  • Problems with UTL_DBWS calling out a web service.

    I´m using ORACLE 10G 10.2.0 and i ´ve downloaded the dbws-callout-utility-10R2.zip utility l´ve unziped it and launched it .
    the command loadjava -u SCOTT/passwd -r -v -f -genmissing dbwsclientws.jar dbwsclientdb102.jar ended without errors.
    then I gave grant access using the following commands

    COMMIT;
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'SCOTT', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'setFactory', '' );
    COMMIT;
    then I created the package running UTL_DBWS .SQL scripts
    when I run a test for calling out the web service I got the next error.
    ORA-29532: UNCAUGHT JAVA EXCEPTION : Java.Lang.IllegalAccessException: java.lang.ExceptionLnLn

    name 'oracle.jpub.runtime.dbws.DbwsProxy.createService(java.lang.String,java.lang.String) return long';
    Is necessary to install the jpublisher in addition for a sucessfully web service calling out?
    what goes wrong?
    Thanks for the soon answer.

    I have exactly the same problem.
    All possible grants are made.
    Running as SYS is not functioning as well.
    The same installation (the same jar's, the same utl_dbws version, the same database version) does function on two other (developers team's) servers .
    The differences are:
    Where it functions: Oracle database Enterprise edition on Windows (Windows 7, Vista)
    Where it does not function: Oracle database Stadard edition on Unix
    I have gone though a decent number of forums and other on-line resources with no success. Solutions available are to grant missing permissions. However these solutions are based on the assumption that under SYS user everything functions properly.
    In my case, this does not function even under SYS as SYSDBA.
    I will highly appreciate any recommendations!
    Best Regards,
    Michail

  • Problem with signed SAML assertion and Web Services Manager

    Folks,
    I’m having some issues trying to generate a proper signed SAML assertion using JDeveloper 10.1.3. I am securing a java proxy class using the wizard as described in http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/wssecure/10gwssecurity_howto.html .
    On the OWSM side, I have a service that I am securing with SAML - Verify WSS 1.0 Token. If I set the "Allow signed assertions only" property to false I can complete the service call. However, when it is set to true I am receiving the following fault: javax.xml.rpc.soap.SOAPFaultException: SAML token verification failed.
    When I examine the message going to OWSM in a packet analyzer, it is missing the signature in the SAML assertion. The <saml:Assertion> tags looks like:

    Thanks in advance,

    Thanks for the response. I am not using any pages for this application yet... just calling the web service from SOAP UI or any Web Service testing tool causes the problem.
    All that has to be done to replicate it is to build a simple EJB 3.0 JPA bean using the entities from tables wizard and then add named query as follows:
    @NamedQuery(name = "BomHeader.findByDesc", query = "select o from BomHeader o where o.bomDesc like :p_bomDesc")
    then build a session bean with the wizard that includes the JPA persistence unit and the entity and subsequently use the wizard to wrap the session bean in a web service.
    The whole replication process should take 5 minutes if you have some database tables to work with. It breaks when the web service is called.
    Thanks in advance
