Problem with JDK1.3

After I installed JDK 1.3, then set the path for JDK. I tried to run the sample java program and go this message "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Welcome"...
I have reinstalled JDK a couple times and still couldn't run the sample programs. Any help or suggestions??
Thanks.
THNguyen

I have found away to fix the problem but there should be a way to permanently update the variable in question. Make sure that the files you are compiling are in the same directory or that their packages are there. When you run javac or java at the command line you have to specify current directory with
java -classpath .; filename. The dot means cd. At school it checks automatically and logically it should but I dont know how to change it permanently.

  • Jdbc 8.1.6 have problems with jdk1.2

    hi,
    I have a long-story problem with oracle jdbc driver. I want to develop applications using java jdk 1.2. I work with Oracle 8.0.4 server. In oracle reports it says This version does not support jdk1.2.
    So I downloaded jdbc driver 8.1.6 which supports (classes12.zip, ocijdbc8.dll). When I try to load it by drivermanager class it raised oracore8.dll is required error. There is no file named oracore8.dll in oracle 8.0.4 package.
    Later, I found an Oracle version 8.1.5 which still does not support jdk1.2 but has oracore8.dll. I was happy this time. But when I want to load the driver version 8.1.6 it says "entry point for ??? procedure can not be found in oracore8.dll".
    Oracle documents says that jdbc 8.1.6 driver is compatible both with Oracle 8.0.4 and Oracle 8.1.5. But I don't agree with.
    My OS is windows 2000 Professional.
    Any suggestions....Thanks..
    null

    move to the 8.1.6 or 8.1.7 client install and use the matching (same version) jdbc thin and oci drivers.
    this(the client) is required for jdbc oci drivers which reference the .dll you mentioned.
    only 8.1.6 or 8.1.7 are supported on win 2000.
    no other versions were ever certified to run on win 2000.

  • JTable selection problem with jdk1.5.0_05

    Today I tried the new jdk1.5.0_05 release and noticed with a JTable I can only select a single column and row with the mouse. With jdk1.5.0_05 I could select multiple cols and rows with the mouse. I looking at the listselectionmodel for the jtable i see it is set to mulitple. Is this a bug in the new java 1.5 release?

    Yeah, the .jar files are definitely there and the
    small class I just wrote is in the Classes directory.Yes, but you're calling javac.exe, not some jars. Did you check that javac.exe is there? Stupid question, yes, but I've seen it all...
    I changed the path in Control Panel -> System ->
    Advanced -> Environment Variables. I've also beendoing this is the command prompt:
    set
    CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;C:\Java\jdk1.5.0\bin;C:\Java\Cla
    ssesNo need to add the /bin directory to the classpath, there are no classes in it...

  • Problem with jdk1.3.1_03.  and weblogic6.1

    hey guys,
    i am trying to run a servlet using Weblogic 6.1 and jdk1.3.1_03.
    in the web.xml
    The <!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 1.2//EN" "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd">
    has a problem i guess.. whenever i am starting the weblogic server it throws up saying Error parsing descriptor in WebApplication.. Thi shappenes only when i use jdk1.3.1_03. for all other versions it does not complain..
    any ideas?
    Thanks
    KM

    As far as i know this error is thrown only when the XML deployment descriptor for the particular application gets corrupt. It has got nothing to do with JDK versions.
    If you get any breakthrough on this issue ...be sure to post the fix too.

    Hi,
    I am now working with jsse1.0.3 and jdk1.3.1(I can not use the new jdk version, because the system I developed is based on jdk1.3.1). what makes me strange is that I can compile my program without problem, but when I run it, it always report error.

    I also tried to add

    Please give me some help, thank you very much.

    oh. I have found the problem. Acturally, the running enviroment is under microsoft j++, so it could only support jdk1.1, but jsse only support from jdk1.2, so that's the problem why it said that no class found.
    Now I only found that oracle has a solution for SSL which support
    jkd1.1(SUN's jsse package only support from jdk1.2). It described the
    method and sample code in Oracle Advanced Security Administrator's
    Guide Release 2 (9.2)
    (http://www.stanford.edu/dept/itss/docs/oracle/9i/network.920/a96573/a...)

  • Time Zone Problem with jdk1.4.2_04

    I have changed my jdk from 1.3 to 1.4.2. C . Now im getting a Time zone exception.
    exception is :
    nested exception is:
         java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Class bytes found but defineClass() failed with java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: sun/util/calendar/ZoneInfo (Unsupported major.minor version 48.0) for sun.util.calendar.ZoneInfo
    can anybody please give me the solution for this problem

    Something in your installation has gone awry. It indicates that some program in your PATH is yet using Java 1.3 (maybe you have some java.exe in c:\windows that is using Java 1.3)

  • TimeZone problems with JDK1.4.0

    When using JDK1.4.0 I make the following call:
    String timeZoneName = TimeZone.getDefault().getID();
    It always returns "ACT" but when I use JDK1.3.1 I get the proper time zone U.S. Eastern Time

    Maybe it's a bug. You can report it, or look to see if it is documented at:

  • How does xalan.jar work with jdk1.3.1 and not work with jdk1.4.1

    Hi,
    i am using java, xalan, xerces for web development. The environment is jdk1.4.1, xerces.jar, xalan.jar. i am facing problem while transforming xml, xsl. Its giving the following error
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.apache.xalan.xslt.Process.getDefaultLiaison()Ljava/lang/String;
         at org.apache.xalan.xslt.XSLTEngineImpl.(XSLTEngineImpl.java:367)
         at org.apache.xalan.xslt.XSLTProcessorFactory.getProcessor(XSLTProcessorFactory.java:79)
    I tried with jdk1.3.1, xalan.jar, xerces.jar. Its working fine. Can anyone tell me what is the problem with jdk1.4.1 ?
    Regards
    Ashok

    I have the same problem, but the version within SUN seems imcomplete,what version is ?
    For example I am using the xsl tag library provided by Apache (I know this now deprecated). In its ApplyTag.java it uses XSLTDataSource this is not in the SUN 1.4 distribution so it falls over. If I add XALAN 1.0.1 it falls over because it on getDefaultLiason() because it starts loading somne classes from rt.jar and some from xalan.jar, how are you meant to override this.

  • Problems with java.lang.Class in JDK1.3

    Hi,
    I have 3 problems with the reflection in java.lang.Class:
    1) In the specification of method java.lang.Class.getDeclaredFields() is wrote:
    "Returns .... This includes public, protected, default (package) access, and private fields ..."
    This means, that all private fields should be return too. But some private methods are not given back. ????
    2) In java.lang.Class.getDeclaredMethods()
    some public methods are not return. ????
    3) In java.lang.Class.getDeclaredMethods()
    If Class is an interface. The same problem like 2) ????
    Are they errors of java.lang.Class in JDK1.3 ????
    Thanks & sincerely.

    Not sure it makes a difference, but you left off the last part of the quote:
    This includes public, protected, default (package) access, and private classes and interfaces declared by the class, but excludes inherited classes and interfaces.
    Are these missing methods from inherited classes, or are they declared in the class itself?

  • Can anybody tell me the problem with this code when compiled in jdk1.4

    Can anybody help me find out the error in this code.
    Try to drag a file from your desktop and drop it on the first textpane on my GUI. Then try to drag another file. This time the dragdrop event handler throws a null pointer exception. This happened when I compiled the code with jdk1.4. With jdk1.3 it is working fine. Actually, I need jdk1.4 to get the systemicons for the files I drop on my desktop.

  • I suppose it is the problem with socket connection,Please help

    Hi,
    I'm trying to build a chat server in Java on Linux OS.I've created basically 2 classes in the client program.The first one shows the login window.When we enter the Login ID & password & click on the ok button,the data is sent to the server for verification.If the login is true,the second class is invoked,which displays the messenger window.This class again access the server
    for collecting the IDs of the online persons.But this statement which reads from the server causes an exception in the program.If we invoke the second class independently(ie not from 1st class) then there is no problem & the required data is read from the server.Can anyone please help me in getting this program right.I'm working on a p4 machine with JDK1.4.

    You're connecting to the server twice. After you've successfully logged in, pass the Socket to the Messenger class.
    public class Messenger {
        Socket connect;
        public static void main(String args[]) {
            Messenger mes = new Messenger(args[0]);
        Messenger(Socket s, String strg) {
            this.connect = s;
            CreateWindow();
            setupEvents();
            LoginData(strg);
            fram.show();
    }

  • Problem with JDialogs

    Hi All,
    I have a problem with JDialogs in my standalone application. This app pops-up multiple JDialogs, say a stack of JDialogs.
    I have a standalone application which runs as a JFrame, call it JFrame1, which is working fine. JFrame1 pops-up a JDialog, on some button click on JFrame1, call it JDialog1, which is also working fine. Now JDialog1 pops-up another JDialog, again on some button click on JDialog1, call it JDialog2, which is too working fine. But, after I finish with JDialog2 and dispose it my JDialog1 is not working fine, though that is the front dialog at present.
    Any ideas why JDialog1 is not working fine? Am I missing anything?
    Thanks,
    Srinivas.

    Hi,
    I have a component called DateComponent that works similar to a JComboBox. When you click a small button of DateComponent, it pops-up a Calendar similar to the drop down list of JComboBox and user can pick a date from it. It gets closed when it loses focus.
    I have this DateComponent on JFrame1, JDialog1 and JDialog2. The Calendar is not being diaplayed on JDialog1 upon clicking the small button of DateComponent after JDialog2 is disposed. But it is being diaplayed properly on JDialog1 before JDialog1 opens JDialog2. What could be wrong?
    I am using JDK1.3.1.
    Thanks,
    Srinivas.

  • Problem with build_samples.bat in java_card_kit-2_1_2

    Hi,
    I have installed jdk1.3.1_20 and have setup java_card_kit-2_1_2. Following the website, I could compile Wallet.java. But some reason the build_samples.bat is not working properly. Looking through the code, when i reach to the line:
    %JAVA_HOME%\bin\jar -xvf %JC21_HOME%\lib\api21.jar (line 46 of the build_samples.bat) it gives me this error:
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: c:\Java\java_card_kit-2_1_2 (Access is denied)
    at java.io.FileInputStream.open (Native Method)
    at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(FileInputStream.java:91)

    at sun.tools.jar.Main.run(Main.java:181)
    at sun.tools.jar.Main.main(Main.java:899)
    The system cannot find the file specified.
    Why is this happening:
    FYI this is my javacard_env.bat (the file that I start the javacard environment):
    set classpath=.;
    set JAVA_HOME=C:\Java\jdk1.3.1_20
    set path=C:\Java\jdk1.3.1_20\bin;
    set JC21_HOME=c:\Java\java_card_kit-2_1_2
    set path=%path%;%JC21_HOME%\bin;
    set classpath=%classpath%;%JC21_HOME%\lib\api21.jar;
    Can someone please help.
    Regards,
    Zeallous

    I'm actually ok with that part now,
    I'm now having problems with converting Samples section:
    once it reaches the line (whilst running build_samples.bat):
    call %JC21_HOME%\bin\converter -config ..\src\com\sun\javacard\samples\HelloWorld\HelloWorld.opt
    it gives me this error:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: \lib\apduio/jar;C:\Java\java_card_kit-2_1_2
    I have already put in this as my javacard_env.bat before i ran everything:
    @echo off
    set classpath=.;
    set JAVA_HOME=C:\Java\jdk1.3.1_20
    set path=C:\Java\jdk1.3.1_20\bin;
    set JC21_HOME=C:\Java\java_card_kit-2_1_2
    set path=%path%;%JC21_HOME%\bin;
    set classpath=%classpath%;C:\Java\java_card_kit-2_1_2\lib\api21.jar;%CLASSPATH%;
    set classpath=%classpath%;C:\Java\jdk1.3.1_20\jre\lib\ext\apduio.jar;%CLASSPATH%;
    What is wrong with this?

    Thanks in advance
    Ajay

    The VERY FIRST message in the server log gives you a hint as to what the problem might be. The server thinks you have spaces in your PATH to the application server. Therefore, the solution is to kill the server however you need to (task manager, whatever) and then reinstall it in a path that doesn't contain spaces. That's the low-hanging fruit here; if that doesn't work, well, then we will have to find some other solution.
