Problem with Paining in a Panel in a JFrame.

So I can paint directly on a JFrame, and I can paint on a class that extends Panel, and put the Panel on a JFrame. But if I try to Repaint the Panel it won't show on the JFrame. Do I have to do anything to the JFrame to show the changes to the objects inside as well?

I'm not sure if you've done this, but don't change the paint method when using Swing components, use paintComponent instead. By default, the JFrame will paint its children. Just remember whenever overriding any of the paintComponent methods to call super.paintComponent(g) first.

    To answer my own question:
    The documentation really sucks.
    I found this reply from Adobe <http://forums.adobe.com/message/2540890#2540890>
    usually we recommend to install custom panels into the "user" location at:
    WINDOWS XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels\2.0\panels\
    WINDOWS VISTA: C\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels\2.0\panels\
    MAC OS: /user/username/Application Data/Adobe/XMP/Custom File Info Panels/2.0/panels/
    The reason why your panels did not work properly was a missing Flash trust file for that user location. Without such a trust file the embedded flash player refuses to "play" your custom panel.
    Please see section "Trust files for custom panels" in the XMPFileInfo SDK Programmer's Guide on page 50 for all details on how to create such trust files.
    After many wasted hours I have now the simple panels running.
    Cheers,
    H.Sup

  • Problem with mode switching/Volume Panel in multi-user environment?

    As above - using Windows 7 64-bit with an X-Fi Titanium Fatalty card.
    All works well as long as I'm the only person logged in, but if my wife logs into the computer (using Windows 7's built-in multi-user mode...'fast user switching', which is enabled by default), and then I log back in...well, the volume panel app doesn't seem to work. In fact, even using the control panel app, I can't regain control of the soundcard enough to switch modes.
    Logging her off doesn't resolve the issue, so it seems like something about her logging on (another user logging in, two volpanlu.exe running, something) is causing my instance to go haywire. [FWIW, I'm a 'standard' user on the PC, and her login is a 'limited' user]
    Note that 'killing' the task volpanlu.exe in task managed, then going to the Windows services control panel and stopping and re-starting the 'Windows Audio' service, and finally re-launching volpanlu.exe from the start menu DOES always work to resolve the problem (regardless of if she's logged in or not...this always fixes it).
    Still, that's a kinda annoyingly large set of steps to always have to go through whenever I want to change audio mode after she's logged in.
    Is there any way to fix this? Any setting I could be missing to optimize the X-Fi control panel for multi-user environments? Any of the X-Fi mod dri've packs handle fast user switching better? Any other ideas?

    GA little bit more tinkering around this, and I have some more information:
    - Once I "seize control" (the kill of volpanlu, restart 'Windows Audio' service, re-launch volpanlu), if my wife logs back in, now *she* can't change the audio mode

  • Slideshow Image Order of Go AND Problem with Sizing an Accordion Panel

    SLIDESHOW Is there a way to set the start, middle, and end in a slideshow? I have tried arranging the position of the triggers (nothing happened); and moving the targets in the layers panel (again, nothing happened). I would like the slideshow to begin and end with specific slides.
    ACCORDION PANEL Will not allow me to size it smaller than 962 pixels. The content area of the accordion panel is filled with one slide show per panel or tab, and I've checked all of the elements within the slideshow to make sure nothing exceeds 960 pixels. Nothing I can find exceeds 960 pixels, but when I remove all the elements from the content area, BOOM, I can make the panel any width I want.

    Slide show sorting:
    No, Mylenium, you are definitly wrong, You can choose any image order you want within slideshows:
    1. Make thumbnail temporarily visible and drag the thumnail to the position you want.
    or
    2. Identify the slides in layers panel and drag their panel entries to the position you want.
    Accordion panel:
    You can choose whatever size you want – even with a slideshow within:
    You have to make sure, that all element of the slideshow (caption, prev, next, counter) fit within the accordion panel. And – since the single accordeon panels don’t allow individual sizes – you have to make sure, that the content of every(!) accordeon panel does not exceed the size you want.

  • Problem with two JLabels on panel on mouseover

    Hello all,
    I have created a JPanel and I have placed two JLabels on it. I have assigned an icon to each of them. What I want to do is to change this icons to different ones (a "highlighted" version of them) for each one of my JLabels when the mouse is over them. My problem is that with the code i have right now, both change when I mouse over only the first one while nothing happens when i do the same for the 2nd one. As a second step I want to move this two labels along the y-axis. Again only jLabel1 can be moved and only for a few points (that seem to be on the bounds of its original bounds) and jLabel2 gets the exact same movement even though I'm not dragging over it. I hope it's clear what I want to do. So my question is: i) why both my jLabels get highlighted when I mouse over the one and ii) why i can move my jLabel only to a restricted area in the screen? (actually I know the reason for this but I still cannot understand why it's happening: when I drag my image, it doesn't update its location. So if I mouse over its initial location it gets highlighted which means that it thinks it's still there for some reason, although it's repainted in its new position..)

    Thanx for the replies!
    I did what Rodney suggested and indeed the Labels now move independently. However, there is a lot of flickering and a ghost label appears that moves respectively with the original one i'm dragging (for both of them). Any ideas why is that?

    - The problem seems to be fixed Here's the solution for my card: <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/SB-P7X-Series-Support-Pack-2-5-02-06-200-AudigySE-Value-LS/m-p/5493" title="Linkification: http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/SB-P7X-Series-Support-Pack-2-5-02-06-200-AudigySE-Value-LS/m-p/5493"]http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/SB-P7X-Series-Support-Pack-2-5-02-06-200-AudigySE-Value-LS/m-p/5493[/url]

  • Has anybody had problems with the global settings panel not working?

    I am on PC, Vista 64bit.  updated to the new flash player and now flash player will not allow me to chage anything in the global settings panel.  I need to allow third party content for editing wix sites and I cannot change any of the settings.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times and nothing has helped.
    My adobe reader also crashed and now will not load after uninstall.  Very frustrating!  Everythign worked fine before the update.
    Any ideas?

    To allow Flash Player settings, close all browser windows, then open Windows Explorer and type %APPDATA%\Adobe in the address bar. Delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there.  Do the same in %APPDATA%\Macromedia
    Regarding Adobe Reader, please post in that forum.

  • Problem with defaul tabbed panel with page refresh

    Hi,
    I have a problem with my spry tabbed panels. The default tab
    is set to be the 1st tab, when I move to 2nd tab and navigate
    through the content, as the page refreshes, and before it is fully
    loaded it shows the content of the first tab for about 20 seconds
    or so....then the page finally goes to the desired content on the
    2nd tab....
    How can I make it so this does not happen and it looks like a
    smooth transition as I navigate through my pages?
    Thanks,
    Brandan98

    U add extra classNames to the tabs and specify the styles on
    the new classes
    example:
    <div class="TabbedPanels style1_panels" id="tp1">
    <ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup style1_group">
    <li class="TabbedPanelsTab style1_tab"
    tabindex="0">Tab 1</li>
    <li class="TabbedPanelsTab style1_tab"
    tabindex="0">Tab 2</li>
    <li class="TabbedPanelsTab style1_tab"
    tabindex="0">Tab 3</li>
    <li class="TabbedPanelsTab style1_tab"
    tabindex="0">Tab 4</li>
    </ul>
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContentGroup
    style1_contentgroup">
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent style1_content">Tab 1
    Content</div>
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent style1_content">Tab 2
    Content</div>
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent style1_content">Tab 3
    Content</div>
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent style1_content">Tab 4
    Content</div>
    </div>
    </div>
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    var tp1 = new Spry.Widget.TabbedPanels("tp1", { defaultTab: 2
    </script>
    style1 beein the extra class ;)
    U can also.. specify other classnames in the constructor read

  • Screen Problems with iMac G5 20" (iSight)

    Hello!
    I had the same problem with my iMac G5 20" (iSight) as described by Bob North Apr. 18, 2006 at http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/imacg5/topic2276.html#apr25:
    """" I repair Apple products, and recently I've seen strange and erratic display problems with the G5 flat-panel (iSight) 17" and 20"...and I am very curious about the origin. The picture will display what I will call "plaid pixles". Upon boot, the dispaly appears normal, but within 5-10 minutes, either at desktop or in ASD, the normal display will "crash" to the "plaid" display. The desktop, or whatever, can still be distinguished in the background, but it is overwashed by the plaid patterns -- which do change slightly, and also cover the full space of the screen. I've seen different scenarios, 3 in 2 weeks, where the symptom is exhibited with no particular failure pattern -- both before and after repair. I've replaced the main logic on one occasion, with no fix...but the 2nd try replaced both display panel and inverter. The display issue was fixed, but the system exhibited lockups only when it reached the destop. Another repair the same issue was seen after replacing the 20" main logic, where the symptom was not present previous. Personal opinion of the late 2005 IMAC flat-panels, in the hardware sense, is the likelihood of component manufacture issues, possibly the main logic boards or the panel displays themselves. Repair of this model, as opposed to the earlier, non-iSight flat-panel 17 and 20" models are extremely difficult -- access to main componenets is blocked by the display panel, which must be removed for each troubleshooting attempt. The internal hardware design is not oriented for repair ease...they are by far the most difficult to work on.
    Any input regarding the display issues? Thanks.""""
    I can't use the mouse or anything else, and after a while the fans start to go on max. This is the second time I encounter this problem within 30 days. What I have noticed is that the day before, the brightness of the screen started to "blink" slightly -- like if the screen tried to adjust itself.
    But I haven't experienced what Bob North describes as the: "Upon boot, the dispaly appears normal, but within 5-10 minutes, either at desktop or in ASD, the normal display will "crash" to the "plaid" display".
    I just restart with the power button and everything is working OK. I made an Extended Hardware test without any problems detected.
    I have been looking for this issue with iMac G5 20" (iSight) and only found it at http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/imacg5/topic2276.html#apr25 :

    Does it look anything like this?
    http://downwardspiral.net/gallery/pbg4-display
    My nearly 3 year old Titanium PowerBook G4 just did this one day, out of the blue. The problem went away after a few minutes, but I had already taken photos. Thanks to those photos, Apple gave the powerbook a new logic board.
    (This PowerBook has had its logic board replaced twice, a new optical drive, and a cracked case edge replaced. AppleCare has more than paid for itself. Despite the occasional problems, I remain very happy with this machine. I'm sure I'd be much less happy if I had not bought AppleCare!)

  • Display problems with K8N Neo Platinum

    I have XP Professional installed on my Raptor fine, but I am having issues with my Radeon 9800.  I cannot boot XP unless I hit F8 and then select "Enable VGA Mode"
    When I do not enable VGA mode, my monitor goes blank right before the Welcome screen.
    Moving along...now when I boot with "Enable VGA Mode" I cannot change ANY monitor settings.  If I increase the resolution from 640x480/8bit to, let's say, 800x600/32bit, the screen will go blank for a few seconds and then a black screen with a white blinking cursor at the top left corner will show.  After this, my monitor just completely shuts off and I am forced to restart.
    I also had problems with the ATi Control Panel.  The ATi driver package installed fine, so I rebooted but when Windows started, I received an error message saying that ATi Control Panel could not load.
    I'm baffled right now and I really don't know what to do.  Any help is appreciated, thank you guys very much.

    You might want to try and reinstall the video drivers and make sure that you uninstalled the old ones fully with Driver Cleaner.

  • Consequences of having a panel in a JFrame?

    Hi,
    Can we embed an AWT panel in a JFrame? What are the consequences of doing that? I am trying to do this and am facing problems trying to display the panel in the JFrame....but if i either minimize the JFrame or move it around causing it to repaint...the panel becomes visible....does anyone know how i can solve the problem?
    Thanks,
    Ravi.

    Mixing heavyweight (AWT) and lightweight (Swing) components is not recommended. For more information, see the bottom of the following Tutorial page: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/start/swingIntro.html

  • Problem with Drag and drop in panel dashboard

    Hi
    I am having problem with drag and drop in panel dashboard.
    I will explain what i am doing.
    I am using Oracle three column template in First region i am having a table that showing all customer.
    I drag one record from my table and drop it on customer info (CIF) page on second region it is working fine.
    my CIF page has a dashboard with 6 panel box. i am showing 6 different jsff in 6 panel box.
    I put drop target in each jsff
    <af:dropTarget dropListener="#{backingBeanScope.backing_customerinformation.handleItemDrop}"
    actions="COPY">
    <af:dataFlavor flavorClass="org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.model.RowKeySet"
    discriminant="CustomerSearchDnD"/>
    </af:dropTarget>
    when i put drop target my panel boxes moves only when i drag it to another panel box header not entire part of panel box.
    if i remove the drop target then panel box move normally as the example given on: [http://adfui.us.oracle.com:7778/faces-trunk/faces/visualDesigns/dashboard.jspx?_afrLoop=2021391022520156&_afrWindowMode=0&_afrWindowId=null] but in taht case i am not able to drag and drop my data

    You must be an Oracle employee as you're referring to a component in the upcoming JDeveloper version which has yet been released to the general public. Oracle employee's are, I believe, directed to post on internal Oracle forums.
