Problem with starting devices at terminal server
Hi all,
I got a problem I can't solve at my terminal server.
In order to provide the Java ME SDK for home office use i installed it at our terminal server (Win2003Server Standard 32Bit) as administrator.
Our developers access it via RDP.
Now I got a strange effect: when I open an application in a device I get this error message:
SCHWERWIEGEND [org.openide.util.RequestProcessor]
java.lang.NullPointerException
at org.netbeans.modules.javame.platform.jme_sdk.autoinstaller.AutoInstaller$4.run(AutoInstaller.java:242)
at org.openide.util.RequestProcessor$Task.run(RequestProcessor.java:573)
[catch] at org.openide.util.RequestProcessor$Processor.run(RequestProcessor.java:1005)
No device window appears. At least not at my remote desktop. The window opened at another active remote desktop. It seems, this is the reason of the broken communication.
Now we are wondering how to install the SDK to prevent us from that effect.
Did anybody face a behavior like that and give me advice?
Thanks
Stephan Koch

Hi Support,
I am trying to use FMLE to encode and stream video from an Axis P1346 IP camera, via Axis' Streaming Assistant software, to a Wowza server.
Everyting appears to be working perfectly and the encoding and resultant stream quality is excellent. Sometimes after a few hours and sometimes after just a few minutes, the encoding will stop with the following error:
Tue Mar 26 2013 11:47:18 : Session Stopped
Tue Mar 26 2013 11:47:18 : Problem with capture device. Incorrect samples given by the device. Stopping encoding session.
I have attached a recent log of a session that only lasted a few minutes - do you have any ideas on how to resolve this instability?

Problem with starting more than one SwingWorker
Hello
I wonder if anyone could tell me if there are known problems with starting more than one SwingWorker thread at once?
In response to an action the user performs, I need to obtain several lists of things from the server. This includes a couple of server-calls, and I want to do the server calls in a thread outside the awt-event thread. So I start a couple of SwingWorker-threads. This works fine sometimes, but not always. Sometimes code in some of the SwingWorkers finished method does not update the ui. I can see that the correct calls are made, but the ui is still not updated correctly. The problem seems to be related to the sequence of when the different thread are finished. For instance, if the sequence is like this:
SwingWorker1.construct
SwingWorker2.construct
SwingWorker1.finished
SwingWorker2.finished
Things go fine, but if the sequence is:
SwingWorker1.construct
SwingWorker1.finished
SwingWorker2.construct
SwingWorker2.finished
the ui-updates in SwingWorker1.finished is not done correctly.
Can anyone help me with this? This is the point:
In one SwingWorker thread you have 1 construct method, and 1 finish method - which are both invoked once.
Therefore you only have one opportunity to update the gui in that thread. This forces you to use many threads if you want regular updates, which I try to avoid.
Therefore, the solution!
Have a loop in the construct method that executes the algorithm accordingly, updating the gui accordingly at regular times, maintaining just the 1 thread - becomes easier and nicer for the programmer and the JVM.
The finish method in this case is to update the gui when all iterations are finished.
There is nothing wrong with this. Just because you have a finish method that is called in the event-dispatching thread doesn't mean that all your update code must be in there.
What you MUST ensure is that ALL your update code is executed in the event-dispatching thread, that is the most important thing. After all, SwingWorker is just a helper class, not the gospel template of how to update a gui. -

Try to use Echo/Sound test service, as well as a couple friends on the list and get the following message "Problem with recording device". I have also searched in the community, but found many issues releated, but no solutions that fit the problem. Headset: Turtle Beach XP SevenSkype Version: 6.22.81.105Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1; 64 - bit Tested in sound recorder, and records my voice, and able to playback and hear my horrible singing. I did find a rather odd way to resolve the issue temporarily. I also use hangouts from time to time, and when I start a video call, it will ring, and send out, and I can then call out using skype to a friend/sound test and it will work fine for the rest of the call. Able to talk, and do whatever. Unfortunatley, with the listed method above I have to repeat the process everytime I want to make a call, or accept someones call. Rather... Annoying. Any solution to this, or what can be causing this issue?
I suggest you download and install the latest generic Realtek audio drivers as they should be compatible with the computer model you listed in a previous post. I run a similar model to that one and have no issues with it. Skype is rather resource intensive on that netbook when participating in video calls due to the limitations of the processor and onboard video chipset. The latest generic Realtek audio drivers (Select "High Definition Audio Codecs" - 32 bit Windows 7)http://www.realtek.com/downloads/okay, i have pretty much given up trying to use Skype on this netbook but i came back to report the known data just in case anyone else might find it useful. to begin with 1) let's get this upfront. i am ignorant, ill-informed, tech-illerate and stupid. i stipulate to this going in. i've NO idea what the hell i'm doing. 2) hardware = ASUS eeePC1005HA, Win7Starter32, 1G DDR2, Intel Atom280, 250GHDD 3) per the above suggestion i went to the RealTek site and looked for the driver, but first 4) i had SlimDriver look around for me and it said there was a newer driver (i think dated 2011) which i had it download & install 5) so that didn't seem to make the slightest difference in Skype performance (i.e. none) so 6)as in (3) above i went to http://152.104.125.41/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false and it offered me 2 choices of sites from which to download Version R2.78 for 32bit Win7 so i picked one at random and it downloaded 2 files, 1 a .exe and the other a PART which i have no idea what the hell that is. i barely know enuf to double clic on the filename in WinExplorer Downloads so that's what i did first on the .exe file cuz that one had a file size greater than zero (unlike the PART file) and got an error message saying Win7 didn't know what to do with this file and could i please suggest a software to use on it. 7) so i deleted it and started over with the same result and then i repeated step 7) only this time i got only the .exe file in my Downloads folder and when i double-clicked it i actually got the Install Wizard to run. 9) so while the Wizard was running i went and looked in my "Windows 7 In Depth" by Cowart & Knittel and found nothing in the index under RealTek so i went and looked at Drivers and based on clues i found there i went to Control Panel ->Hardware & Sound -> Device Manager ->RealTek HD Audio [hidden under expandable Processors - Sound, Video & game conrollers]->(LeftClick to get Update Driver Software), and wait about a year and a half for 'Onliine Search for Software', followed by the message "the best driver software for your device is already installed". 9)so by this time the Install Wizard has finished Uninstalling the previous version of the driver and wants me to RESTART and that's right now in real time so i am now closing this browser and if i ever finish restarting i will continue this response in a new reply window starting with step (10), whatever that turns out to be. the suspense is killing me.

Problem with shares on Windows 2003R2 server from a Windows 8.1 PC
I'm having problem with shares on Windows 2003R2 server from a Windows 8.1 PC. It times out when I try to copy a file from my PC to the server and I get an error message saying "There is a problem accessing network drive W:\. Make sure you are
connected to the network and try again."
I have no problem copying files from the server to the PC.
Any ideas?Hi,
How about your problem now? Have you test other machine also installed Windows 8.1? Did they have this problem?
To diagnose this problem, firstly, please check Windows 2003R2 firewall settings, also can disable firewall temporarilly for test.
Secondly, try to use Network Monitor to capture network communication package for test.

Problems with I/O on Unix Server
HAllo
I have a Problem with reading/writing on the Server my Tomcat is running.
My Application does not find the properties file allthough i tried to get my path with System.getProperty("user.dir"), and also tried to set an absolute path too.
It is also not able to create a new file.
My Question: What rights do applications running in tomcat have by dafault?
How cat i change this rights?
And how do the path have to look in my code if i want to set it fix?
I tried thid ones:
"/mydir/myfile.txt"
"\\mydir\\myfile.txt"Tomcat is a regular application that has the same rights as the user executing it. Does Tomcat run as a user who has access to the directory you are trying to read/write from?
