Problems with bit shift left in Formula Node

Hi,
Sorry but my English is not good.
I'm trying to execute a bit shift left in the Formula Node, but the shift left is not working as I expected.
uInt32 parametro[5];
float32 valorAmostra;
int16 indiceAmostra;
uInt8 indiceResposta;
int16 controle;
int32 valor;
int8 i;
for(i=0; i<5; i++)
parametro[i]=param[i];
valor = parametro[5]<<16 | parametro[4]<<8 | parametro[3];
controle = parametro[1]<<8 | parametro[0];
indiceAmostra = (controle & 0x3FF);
indiceResposta = (controle >> 10);
valorAmostra = valor & 0x7FFFFF;
valorAmostra = valorAmostra*(2.4/8388607);
if((valor & 0x800000) == 0x800000)
valorAmostra = valorAmostra*(-1);
the input param array is of the type uInt8, as I saw in other topics that does not shift with uInt8,
I copy the values of param array to parametro which is of type  uInt32, but still did not work.
Testing the input param with the following values:
param[] = {10,14,10,0,16}
the valorAmostra returned is 0,00117188 when he should be 0,300003.
Can someone help me please?

Olá,
Existe um bug no LabVIEW para esta operação. Este bug deverá ser corrigido em versões futuras. Uma solução para esta situação é utilizar um int32 ao invés de um ulnt32.
Qualquer dúvida por favor entre em contato.
Obrigado.

  • Does unsigned 32-bit arithmetic work in formula nodes?

    I am trying to generate some 32-bit patterns to control my instrument under test. The easiest way to assemble these patterns seems to be to put the bits together in a formula node by shifting and OR'ing. All of my LabView variables are defined to be U32, and the corresponding variables in the formula node are uInt32.
    The problem is that whenever I assign a "1" to the most significant bit of a variable, the entire value is coerced to zero. What is happening? what might I be doing wrong? I checked all of the obvious things, such as incorrect data definition, etc. I tried putting together the pattern in various orders, and I narrowed the assignment down to its simplest form. However, I still cannot get a value of 1 into the most significant bit of the U32.
    Is there a way around this problem?
    Thanks,

    Well I seem to have recreated your problem using the formula node (either that or we're both not doing something right).. Look at "out1".
    The logical shift function works fine of course.

  • Problem with tilt shift effect

    I have the latest version of Elements 12 and have just started to experiment with the Tilt-Shift Guided Effect.   The problem I'm having is that when I try to change the area of focus, nothing much seems to change in the picture.   Sometimes it seems like the original in-focus area stays in place and I can make small changes elsewhere in the picture.
    I was wondering if anyone else was having a problem with Tilt-Shift?
    thanks.

    I think I verified what I was seeing in Guided Mode by going to Expert Mode after trying to alter the focus area.   In expert mode I found a mask for the blur layer - and what I saw were 2 gradients rather than just one.   One of the gradients in the mask was where Elements put the default in-focus area, and the second gradient in the mask was where I tried to move the in-focus area to.   I was expecting to find one gradient on the mask, but instead there were two.  Are others observing this same behavior?  Thanks.

  • Want to learn more about shift registers and formula nodes

    I am new to Labview and have looked at the example files and help files regarding shift registers and formula nodes. I was hoping that someone has a simple and detailed VI expaining how each of them(shift registers and formula nodes) works.

    Formula nodes are not one of the first things you will need to be looking at. look at the help files (press ctrl-H) for some syntax examples. Shift registers are easy: they carry the value from the end of the loop back into the start of the loop. The great power of shift registers is to use them without initializing. In that case they will retain their last value as long as the vi is in memory. This is a little more advanced topic, though.
    I included a simple example that illustrates what a shift register does. Requires Labview 7.1
    Good luck,

  • Having problems with using shift alt command when using the square tool

    having problems with using shift alt command when using the square tool

    Marco,
    If no good reason, such as the one suggested by Silkrooster, is present, you may try the list, hoping for one of the easy ones at the top.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustrator.html
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Issue with bit shifting

    Hi everyone!
    I have a question about bit shifting. When I attempt to shift 32 bit on a int value, the output is the same value. It doesn't matter if I try to make a rigth or left shifting. It also hapend when I make 64 bit shifting on a long value. I supposed it should be 0. This is the code I'm woking with:
    int x = 2147483647;
    System.out.println("Output1 = " + (x >> 32));
    System.out.println("Output2 = " + (x << 32));
    Output:
    Output1 = 2147483647
    Output2 = 2147483647
    Could someone help me to understand why this happend?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Need help with selfmade Hough Transform in formula node

    Hello everyone,
    I'm making my own Face Recognition system and I'm at the phase of making a Hough Transform of my captured CAM-image.
    So if a pixel is not zero; I generate its sinusoidal with -90° to 90° and calculate the corresponding value with the general Hough formula. Then for the voting process I increase the value of every pixel by 1.
    Now the output is just a bit darker but there is no transformation at all.
    I think I interpreted the algorithm wrong or I missed a detail in my coding..
    Thanks in advance

    I looked at your code and have some comments.
    I looked at the Wikipedia article on the Hough transform. It appears that the definition in that article is somewhat different from your code.
                                             from Wikipedia
    for(i=-90;i<=90;i++)
       { Hough_Space[x][y] = Array[x][y]*cos(i)+Array[x][y]*sin(i);
         Hough_Space[x][y]+=1;
       }                                                                                        From your VI.
    Note that the factors multiplying the sine and cosine terms are different.
    The sine and cosine functions in the Formula Node take arguments in radians. The -90 to +90 in your code suggests degrees.
    You may want to use a different threshold for creating the Hough Space array. The data is unsigned integer and the minimum value in your image is 25. So no pixels in your image are excluded and very few in most images will have pixels exactly equal to zero.
    Is there a reason you prefer to use the formula node rather than the usual LV functions?

  • Problem with trees(Duplication of the parent node in creation of  children)

    Hi guys i am experiencing a slight problem with the creation of trees.Here is a clear explanation of my program.I created a program that generates edges from a set of datapoints then use each and every edge that is generated to create multiple trees with the edge as the rootnode for each and every tree.Everything up to so far everything went well but the problem comes when i want the program to pick every single tree and traverse through the set of generated edges to create the children of a tree.What it does at the moment for each tree is returning the a duplication of the parent node as the child nodes and that is a problem.Can anyone related with this problem help.Your help will be appreciated.

    Your program description makes no sense. What exactly is it supposed to do?
    Your errors make no sense. What is it doing wrong?
    Your program output makes no sense. Look up pre-order, in-order, and post-order notation for representing trees. Pick one of those that you think would be best. I would go with pre-order. Because what you are doing isn't understandable.
    By the way, I think your concept of a tree is flawed. A node in a tree has 3 things. it has a reference to its parent, it has references to any of its children, and it has some key value that represents the node (if each node were represented by numbers, the value would be an integer or something). In the case of the root, its reference to its parent is null. I don't know what you are doing with your tree, but it is highly confusing.

  • Problem with margins shifting when printing.

    I have an installation template on an 11x17 sheet with 3/8” margins. There is a “left” and “right” version on each side (basically mirrored) and the intent is that they align front to back when you hold the sheet up to the light. When we print a proof, two sided, on our laser printer, the drawings match when the single sheet is held up to the light, but the margins are no longer the same; each is offset by a 1/16” in the same direction. BUT when you print one sided on our printer and hold the 2 sheets back to back, the drawings are off by 1/8” because the margins are off by the 1/16' in different directions. This creates a problem when it is sent to the commercial printers as they are printing single sided to their printing plates. (The problem still appears in the exported PDF file the printers use)
    The problem is, I can’t get InDesign to stop shifting the content on the page that 1/16”!
    If I look at the page, the margin guides show the correct 3/8”on both sides.
    If I look at the Master page, the margin guides show the correct 3/8”on both sides.
    Under “Margins and Columns” in InDesign, I found the correct margins set (0.375 - 3/8”) all around,  with 1 column and a 0.1667” Gutter. Ha .. I thought I had found it! So I removed the Gutter and checked “Enabled Layout”, But when printed, same problem.
    I then though it must be on the master pages and found and did the same thing as above, still no luck!
    Then I created a new master page and set it up as above and reapplied the new master page, still no luck!
    I’m stumped!?! If we can’t get these margins correct we can’t send it to the commercial printer.
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Well I don't know for a fact that it is, but the customer is a major International Fortune 500 Company and this is an Installation sheet printed and included in one of their product packages, so I would imagine it is an offset press.
    Besides, if the commercial printer was using a commercial Laser printer, can't they print 2-sided? There is no problem when it is printed 2-sided, the images align because both margins are offset in the same direction. It is only when it is printed 1-sided (one side to each printing plate) that the problem becomes obvious because the offsets are in the opposite directions. (BTW, it is B&W)

  • Problem with JTree while expanding/collapsing a node

    Hi,
    I'm using a JTree for displaying the file system.
    Here, i want that whenever a node get expanded,
    it should show the latest files/directories under that node.
    Now, what i'm doing is, getting all the files/dir's using files.listFiles(),
    under that node and then creating a new node and adding it to parent (all in expand() method).
    But, now the problem is, while doing this whenever the parent node get expanded its adding all the latest files/dirs into the previous instance
    resulting the same file/dir is displaying twice,thrice.. and so on, as that node is expanded and collapsed.
    i tried removeAllChildren() in collapse() method but then that node is notexpanding at all .
    Can anybody help me please...
    i got stuck b'coz of this only.
    Thanks...

    Now what i'm doing is every time expand() get called,
    i'm comparing all the children of that node in the
    current instance with all the children present in the
    file system (because there is a possibility that some
    file/dir may be added or deleted)
    is this the right wy or not?it certainly is not wrong, but as usual, there is more than 1 way to implement this...
    b'coz right now i'm getting all the files/dirs that
    are newly added but facing some problem if somebody
    deletes a file/dir.
    i'm still trying to get the solutionthen you should not just compare all the children of the node with the files/dirs but also the other way round. compare the files/dirs with the children to determine if the file/dir still exists and if not remove the node.
    or you could check if the file which a node represents exists and if not remove the node.

  • Problem with bit rate ?

    Hi there,
    Using FCP7.
    After compressing a FCP project with Compressor and burning DVDSP with DVDSP, I realized that  scenes containing objects or people in rapid movement where showing jerked images.
    The slow motion scenes are fine.
    I checked the following
    settings for DVDSP burning: VBR two pass;
    averageBit rate  4,0,
    max rate 7,0
    1) the self-contained QT that I started with is not showing this problem.
    2) the m2v file obtained from compressor (I use preset setting for high quality compression) does not show this problem when I view it with MPEG streamclip
    3) I tried to burn directly the QT file  with Toast 10 …get same problem if not worse !.
    settings for Toast
    automatic re-encoding
    average rate 4,0 Mbps
    max bit rate 8,0 Mbps
    MPEG-2
    I guess my problem comes from the bit rate I used ?
    I am now confused and I am not sure I understood the impact of the bit rate setting on the quality of the resulting DVD, and I believe that using a high bit rate in DVDSP might result in problems for some clients to play the DVD on their player ?
    Could it be something else ?
    could someone please give me advice ?
    Many thanks in advance
    Ivan

    I can only think of two possibilities based on the info available:
    1. Old DVD player (choking on the bitrate spike)
    2. You need to set some compression markers around the scenes while in FCP. This would flag Compressor to pay extra attention to that area. After you output the new clip, I suggest you use the standard High Quality preset (in Compressor) for your program duration e.g., "Highest Quality 90 minute". Don't get creative with the encoding set-up. And ALWAYS used AC-3 audio.

  • Problem with cache refresh entity bean / server node

    Hello,
    ive got a big problem and not found answer in sdn until now.
    Ive got a job that gets data from maxdb by sapjob - jco - session bean - entity bean - database.
    this job works daily. the data to work with is written directly to database from external.
    on first execute it works, but second etc not. i search for answer and i guess something:
    entity bean is cached (increase percormance?) with results of the select and do not know about new database entries when they are written directly to database. so second select says: there is no new data (but they are there).
    i only get this new data when i restart netweaver server node, then it works, but only for one time. then result is in cache and then i have to do same procedure before it goes (restart server).
    how can i get this data? is there any setting for force node to refresh cache? or any other settings to affect something like this?
    we have to go live with this in august.
    thx for help.
    Version: NW04, SP21

    thanks at first.
    OSS was the next step i consider, enforcedly.
    I hoped that there was a kind of timeout in visual admin or somewhere else where (for example) i can set a special time (seconds?) for refreshig the cache. Or i can set a flag for "do not cache entity beans".
    Someone else any idea?
    Nowadays on test system whe have made a task that starts windows every night so that netweaver also is "fresh". a kind of resolution but not the best and no resolution for the productiv system. or whe have to write a kind of batch job that only restarts server node once a day.
    New Info:
    I think cache was filled directly after restart.
    when we restart, then data are written, and then our application wanted to read them, they are also not seen.
    The data are only seen by bean when the restart takes place AFTER the data are written into db.
    So we change restart time to point after data are written. so we will test if this works, on monday we will see.

  • Problems with Pitch-Shifting in GarageBand 10.0.1

    I'm trying to reconstruct a song by showing the sample source, then showing its progression by pitch-shifting it to the point where its sound matches with the song that samples it (e.g., the YouTube tutorials on the "Shook Ones, Pt. II" and "Ice Cream" samples). However, I'm using Garageband 10.0.1, and whenever I try to pitch-shift only one of multiple recordings/copies, everything in the project is shifted to the selected pitch, so it ends up being useless for what I need it to do. This is especially aggravating because earlier versions of GarageBand (at least for 2010-era programs) didn't have this problem. I want to if – or, more likely, how – I can get around this and make sure only a selected snippet is pitch-shifted, rather than everything in the project, as well as if it applies only to individual recordings or copies as well.
    On a related note, pitch-shifting a recording in Garageband (granted, one only using built-in speakers) always seems to entail a weird Auto-Tune effect, and it is almost never as smooth as in the aforementioned sample-tutorial videos. I also want to know if this a necessary limitation, or if there are ways around it.

    When you update to 6.0.1.. you remember if you update or restore and take your backup?
    Because I've see that many many times if anyone take his backup of iOS 5.x to iOS 6.x has a problem!!
    Try to restore and start your device to a new device, without backup!

  • Problem with Nested loop in Fox-Formula

    Dear Experts,
    Let s share the scenario :
    MaterialGroups with following Keys for Example AAAA, BBBB, CCCC..., Materialgroups are selected in the 1st input ready query, which is assigned to DataProvider DP_1 in a  webtemplate.
    every Materialgroup has several Materials, for instance:
    Materialgroup AAAA has following Materials: AAAA10, AAAA11, AAAA12, AAAA13...
    Materials are  selected in a second  input ready Query, which is assigned to a second DataProvider DP_2 in the Same Webtemplate as the query 1.
    Both Materialgroup and Material are based on the same Aggreagtion level and same real time cube.
    I want to copy the input values for every  MaterialGroup ( 1st query, DP_1) only to it s own Materials (2cond Query, DP_2).
    To resolve this Issue i wrote the following Fox Formula code with a nested loop, however it does not work properly. when I m debugging the code, i could release that the second Loop was ignored.but wehn i replace the second loop (nested loop) with a fixed value it s seems to work properly
