Problem With UNIX command in ODI Environment.
A procedure is used in our package which involves moving a file from a folder to another in a UNIX server.
The procedure uses an OS command - 'os.system' to execute unix command.
The unix command is a grep command which seems to work fine when executed alone.
But when this procedure is executed ,it fails.
The following code raises an error and the procedure fails.:
if os.system(cmd) <> 0:
raise "command fails","see agent output for details";
Whenever we are trying to reverse,we get "file not Found " error.
We tried to execute the jython code by placing the files in local directories. The same error appears both when the file is in local and when it is in a remote directory.
This is the error we get:
org.apache.bsf.BSFException: exception from Jython:

Hi,
The unix command is a grep command which seems to work fine when executed alone. :-
I guess you executed this from your Unix server , so it work fines.
And when you are trying to execute outside from this (using ODI) , its failing , right ?
Can you please check the permission settings for that script file (sh).
Please try by giveing the full permission (specifically execution permission) for all users connecting from other machines.
This can be one of the reason for the failure .
please let me know if this is not working

URGENT!! problems with Unix command, please help
I am trying to use the following Unix command and I keep getting error messaages from stdError. However if I run the same command from the command line it works perfectly. For some reason when I run the command from inside the program it thinks the append symbol ">>" is another file.
String command = " cat /users/02/wjoc1/Test/list.mod >> /users/02/wjoc1/Test/Blacklist ";
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command);
The error get is :
/bin/cat: >>: No such file or directory
Any help would be greatly appreciatedThe better solution for this problem is write a shell script for the action you wnat to perform and execute it using the runtime.exec().In your case just cut and paste cat /users/02/wjoc1/Test/list.mod >> /users/02/wjoc1/Test/Blacklist in to a file and save it. use that file as a argument for the exec method it will work.

Problem with unix "foreach" command
Hi,
I am facing a problem with unix command "foreach". I trying to process files using unix foreach command. When running the script with 500 or 1000 files. It is running fine. But when I am trying to the script with 2000+ files. Its throwing an error "Arguments too long".
below is the syntax I am using in the script:
foreach name (*)
end
Could anybody help me on this issue.
Thanks in Advance.
Manasa.UNIX/Linux systems expand wildcards onto the command line before invoking the
individual commands. In effect, the shell rewrites the command line you give
substituting the wildcard expansion. There is a limit to how long this command
line can get.
For example, suppose you have two files ("foo" and "bar") in your directory.
The line:
foreach name (*)
echo $name
endgets rewritten to:
foreach name (foo bar)
echo $name
endand then the shell starts interpreting your script. So if you have many, many
files, the rewritten line becomes:
foreach name (f1 f2 f3 ... f10927)
echo $name
endso chances are the "foreach" line simply gets too long. To avoid problems do
it this way; it avoids any problems based on how many files you have:
ls | while read name
do
echo $name
doneThis way the shell never exceeds its line length limitations because the
wildcard is never expanded.

Run multiple unix commands from ODI procedure
I want to run a series of unix commands from ODI procedure. I dont want to use Unix shell scripts. (I know that works).I am just trying to place the contents of the shell scripts in ODI procedure with Operating system as technology. But I am unable to execute the proecedure.
For example below is a very small 3 line commands I would execute
filename="/var/test.txt"
ls -l $filename > /var/anotherfile.txt
chmod 777 $filename
I am not sure if there is any specific syntax that I have to follow for executing unix commands. Also I dont want to write a Jython and use os.system command as well.
Appreciate any help on thisFirst your original question... You can put more than one DOS command on a single line, simply separate each command with an ampersand (&). For example:
mkdir c:\abc & cd abc & dir*
Regarding your concerns about performance, well that would depend on exactly what you mean. Using CLIENT_HOST (or HOST on the server) simply opens a shell (DOS in this case) then passes your command to it. The performance of performing this action really isn't measurable. Basically you are just pressing a button and you should get a near immediate action. As for the performance of executing each command, that has nothing to do with Forms. Once the command is passed to the shell, the rest is a function of the shell and whatever command you passed.
Having said that, if you were to write something sloppy like a loop (in pl/sql) which called CLIENT_HOST lots of times repeatedly, then yes there would be a performance problem because the pushing of the button will cause an exchange to and from the server and each cycle in the loop will do the same.
So the answer to how performance is impacted will depend on what exactly you need to accomplish. If it is a single call to CLIENT_HOST, this should be fine. -
Hi Vasundhara,
Try grouping the widgets in to a panel.

Hello vashundara,
please say which Version of Forte and which kind/version your UNIX OS is.
There are some problems on AIX V4.3.x (Motif 2.x) and older releasese of
Forte (up to Forte 3.M.x) and so on and it is necessary to look what it is.
Maybe it is possible for you to say which widgets are the problem.
Thanks forward

How to execute unix command from ODI Procedure
Hi,
I am trying to execute below unix command from ODI Procedure (Command on Target tab) but I am getting the error "java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "cd": error=2, No such file or directory" but when I try to execute the same command using OdiOSCommand, it is executing successfully. I don't want to use shell script to execute this command. Is there any specific syntax am I missing to execute this command from ODI procedure?
cd /project3/tmt/;ls *.dmp > dmplist.lst
Please help me on this...
Thanks
MTHi nahlikh,
Thank you for the reply.
I used below command in Procedure but still getting the same error as "java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "OdiOSCommand": error=2, No such file or directory".
OdiOSCommand "-COMMAND=cd /project3/tmt/;ls *.dmp > dmplist.lst"
as I mentioned earlier if I use the command cd /project3/tmt/;ls *.dmp > dmplist.lst in OdiOSCommand tool it is executing successfully without any issues.
any thoughts appreciated to get a solution for this issue.
Thanks

Problem with Updating clients with UNIX command
Hi.
Until this day, I used to update all our 50 client macs by manually logging in as administrator via ARD and choosing Software Update from the apple menu, this works always and I use our own servers SUS so the downloading is really fast. Still, this clearly is time consuming and annoying when you have this many clients. I have now done some search and I know I could do this by sending unix command to clients using ARD. First I had problems with running the command, then I noticed I need to run this as root. Then it "works".
Works, not quite. It starts to run, and I can see all the output. I have tried this with few clients and the results are confusing. The following is an output from one client I send the command "softwareupdate -i -r"

Registering updated components…
And thats it, it stops there. Few clients completed the task, but the output says that they skipped the installation of all updates. In the case above, there is some skipping too, and I don't know what it means. Yesterday I left one client to this part where its Registering updated components.... , and today when I came in, it's still there, and the task is still running. When I update the clients with the Software Update from apple menu, it takes usually 10 minutes max to complete the whole process, download and install. After I restarted the same client and ran the manual Software Update from apple menu, it shows the same updates, it didn't do anything???
Am I doing something wrong with the command?I am having the same issue. I send the unix command to some test clients to install all updates. The process never finishes and stays at "Registering updated companents....". (See screen shot)
I have manually restarted some of the clients after waiting a very long time. All updates seem to have been installed. I am wondering why the task hangs at this point. I want to be able to ran ASU with this Unix method on the 450+ macs that I manage at work, but it scares me that the task never seems to finish. -

Problem with Unix version of Reports
When I run the report(filenam.rep) off of
my P.C., it works fine. Then when I transfer
it over to Unix and run the report, I get
some of the values in my report copied into
places they don't belong. For instance,
I have a value for the last row and last column in my report that gets copied to the
first value in the last column of every page
except for the first page. The proper value
doesn't appear and it gets replaced by this
value instead. I am running Reports 2.5 on
both my P.C. as well as Unix. My P.C. is
an NT 4.0 workstation. My command line on Unix looks like this:
r25runm report=${report} userid=reitprod/namrem batch=YES paramform=NO \
buffers=1000 destype=file desname=${TEMP}.lis \
${PARAMETER_STRING}
I also have Designer 6.0 installed on my P.C.
I recently installed a patch to fix a problem
with formatting in Reports 6.0. I am wondering whether the patch might have something to do with incompatibility between
Reports 2.5 on my P.C. and Reports 2.5 on
the Unix system.
nullHello,
We need more information in order to help. How are you requesting the report (command line, URL, ?). What file is it asking for?

Problem with creating Kestore in DOS Environment
Hi
I am new to java security ,trying to generate keys by using ketool command but getting problem.
I am executing following keytool command from DOS prompt
c:\>keytool -genkey -keyalg "RSA" -sigalg "SHA1withRSA" -keystore myKeystore -storepass abcdef -alias xyz -keypass wxyzabc
when I execute the above command it displaying keytool Help. I suspect the problem with " -keystore myKeystore " parameter , if I remove that parameter the command gets executing.
Without giving -keystore parameter can create keys , in that case where should I look for the generated keys ,please help me out.
2) how can i create Certification request by using above generated keys.
please try to help me.
with regards.
jl.c:\>keytool -genkey -keyalg "RSA" -sigalg
"SHA1withRSA" -keystore myKeystore -storepass abcdef
-alias xyz -keypass wxyzabcOn Win2K under 1.4.2, that exact line works just fine for keytool - it goes right to asking me for the identifying information. What's your environment look like?
2) how can i create Certification request by using
above generated keys.c:\> keytool -certreq -keystore myKeystore -storepass abcdef -alias xyz -keypass wxyzabc -file mycertreq.csr

Problem with shell commands and scripts from an Applescript Application
Hi-
I am fairly new to OSX software development. I am trying to build an application that creates a reverse SSH tunnel to my computer and starts OSXvnc. The idea is that my Mom or anyone else who needs help can connect to me without having to tinker with their firewalls.
There are plenty of resources on how to do this, and I have found them. What I have a problem with is the following.
I am building this application in Xcode as an Applescript application, because Applescript and shell scripting are the only forms of programming I know. I use an expect script to connect through SSH, and a "do shell script" for the raw OSXvnc-server application to allow screen sharing.
The problem is that when I click on the button to launch OSXvnc-server or the button to launch SSH, the application freezes until the process it spawns is killed or finishes. For example, I can set SSH to timeout after 60 seconds of no connection, and then the Applescript application responds again. I even tried using the ssh -f command to fork the process, but that doesn't seem to help.
I am also using "try" around each of the items.
What am I doing wrong? How can I make the buttons in my app launch SSH and OSXvnc-server without hanging the application while it waits for them to finish?
Thanks so much!See here for an explanation of the syntax.

Problem with instant message in clustered environment
Hello, I have some problem with Instant Message service.
We need to use it in our Production Environment (a clustered emvironment with a central instance, two dialog instances and two web dispatchers), some months ago we tested it in Development Environment (not clustered emvironment, just a single system) and it worked fine.
So I did the same configurations on Production Environment but it did not work.
But if I access on my portal (Production Env.) by the central instance (avoiding the dispatchers) the instant message service works.
I think it can be a web dispatcher's configuration problem, in its logs I found the message :
"<i>[Thr 3700] *** ERROR => htmlEncode: called with empty string [icpif.cpp 847]</i>"
I' ve repeated the same configuration done in Dev.Env. (no dispatcher) on the Prod.Env. (with 2 dispatcher), is possible that I'm missing some configurations??
Could someone helps me?
Best Regard
nullHi Alessandro,
unfortunately I got the same problem but I haven't found the solution yet.
Hoping someone will help us.

Problem with issuing command via CustomScriptExtension
I am trying to issue a CustomScriptExtension command to an Azure virtual machine from within my C# application. The CustomScriptExtension is installed in the VM and working. I verified this by issuing a test command via PowerShell. Essentially I am trying
to execute what would be the equivalent to the PowerShell command Set-AzureVMCustomScriptExtension, but in code.
Below is the code segment that I am having problems with:
ComputeManagementClient client = new ComputeManagementClient(AzureSessionInfo.CloudCredentials);
IList<ResourceExtensionReference> extReferences = new List<ResourceExtensionReference>();
IList<ResourceExtensionParameterValue> extParamValues = new List<ResourceExtensionParameterValue>();
string account = "{\"storageAccountName\":\"" + AzureSessionInfo.StorageAccount + "\",\"storageAccountKey\": \"" + AzureSessionInfo.StorageAccountKey + "\"}";
string scriptfile = "{\"fileUris\": [\"" + "https://teststorageaccount.blob.core.windows.net/testcontainer" + "\"], \"commandToExecute\":\"powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -file " + "ScriptName.ps1" + "\"}";
byte[] bytes1 = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(account);
bytes1 = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(account);
string ScriptPrivateConfig = Convert.ToBase64String(bytes1);
byte[] bytes2 = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(scriptfile);
bytes2 = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(scriptfile);
string ScriptPublicConfig = Convert.ToBase64String(bytes2);
ResourceExtensionParameterValue extRef_Parameter1 = new ResourceExtensionParameterValue()
Key = "CustomScriptExtensionPrivateConfigParameter",
Value = ScriptPrivateConfig,
Type = "Private"
ResourceExtensionParameterValue extRef_Parameter2 = new ResourceExtensionParameterValue()
Key = "CustomScriptExtensionPublicConfigParameter",
Value = ScriptPublicConfig,
Type = "Public"
extParamValues.Add(extRef_Parameter1);
extParamValues.Add(extRef_Parameter2);
ResourceExtensionReference extRef_CustomScript = new ResourceExtensionReference
Name = "CustomScriptExtension",
Publisher = "Microsoft.Compute",
Version = "*",
ReferenceName = "CustomScriptExtension",
ResourceExtensionParameterValues = extParamValues
extReferences.Add(extRef_CustomScript);
AzureSessionInfo.CloudServiceName = "CS1000001";
AzureSessionInfo.VMName = "CS1000001";
AzureSessionInfo.ImageFamilyName = "Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter";
client.VirtualMachines.Update(AzureSessionInfo.CloudServiceName,
AzureSessionInfo.VMName,
AzureSessionInfo.VMName,
new VirtualMachineUpdateParameters
RoleName = AzureSessionInfo.VMName,
ResourceExtensionReferences = extReferences
I receive the following error message back from the call:
BadRequest: Invalid extension reference parameter value in JSON configuration data for the Role: CS1000001, Reference name: CustomScriptExtension.
I could only find very little documentation on this. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks Mekh... after many hours of researching and trial/error, I figured it out.
The MSDN article I used previously led me down the wrong path. (see article here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn781373.aspx). This may work for RESTful calls but not for .NET API calls.
The part of the code that was hurting me was where the command strings (account and
scriptfile) were being converted to Base64 encoding. This is NOT correct for .NET calls. Once I removed that, everything worked fine.
I came across this after researching the same commands used by Linux scripts. They don't convert to Base64 either so I wonder why this is included in the documentation at all.
In either case, I figured it out, but the documentation is very poor in this area (or all together non-existent). I don't even see where it is documented as to which JSON parameters names are supposed to be used, or even that JSON is required.
Also, related to the Update command, if you are truly "updating" the config, you must include everything about the original config (whether it changed or not) along with the changes you want to make. If not then you will undo ALL but the changes
you issued via the command. -
Problem with runas command. Elevation error
Running on Win 8.1 Pro I'm facing a problem with runas.
What I'm trying to do is launch an mmc as my domain admin account.
Therefore I type this command from an elevated cmd (Right-click "Run as Administrator"):
runas /user:Contoso\MyDomainAdmin /noprofile mmc
This worked like a charm in Windows 7, and on my Win81Pro client it yields:
RUNAS ERROR: Unable to run - mmc
740: The requested operation requires elevation.
The account I'm logged in with, is local admin, and the UAC slider is set in the bottom.
In the eventviewer, I only see some special logons where my normal account is trying to impersonate my domain admin account, and the next event, the domain admin's session is destroyed.
If this is by design, how would I then run mmc as my domain admin and at the same time avoid its credentials being stored on the local machine?
Thanks in advance!yes, you need to be local admin to be able to elevate!
I've tested this on a system here and I reproduce the issue you encountered. Some investigation showed running a program that requires elevation using runas is not possible http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb756922.aspx
