Problems emailing spreadsheet

I've just bought a MacBook Air and am new to macs (aside from iPhone). I've created a spreadsheet in the Numbers app and have been trying to email it to a friend's gmail account. I've been using the Share tab on the Numbers menu to do this. The email form appears, the spreadsheet file is automatically attached, I type my message and press send. After ages of trying (connected to BT Openzone H through my BT account) I hear the whoosh sound of an email being sent. But it never appears in my email Sent folder and doesn't reach my friend. I have sent the whole thing without difficulty to two other email accounts as a test; and I can email the spreadsheet on its own - without any comments in the email - to the gmail account. But every time I send the attachment with comments it struggles to go, eventually whooshes but fails to appear in my Sent folder or to arrive at its destination.
Any clever thoughts out there please?!

You will need to find a place to post your image. There are many online free storage sites available. I normally just use my .Mac account since I don't use the bandwidth for anything else anyways.
You will need to learn how to use the HTML tag code to link to that image. Many sites can produce this link text for you. It looks just like a web link or URL in your address bar:
/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
This link shows how to use the IMG tag in HTML:
http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_IMG.asp
so you just need to use the IMG HTML tag and place the picture URL inside its src argument...
So the following picture is shown using the code beneath it:
You can search online for how to take screenshots in OS X there are quite a few built in tools and shortcuts for you to use. Or you can purchase programs that have far more funcitonality if need be.
Hope this helps,
Jason

  • Problem emailing photos from iPhoto after installing OS 10.5.1

Since installing Leopard I have had problems emailing photos from iPhoto. I can send from my laptop to another Mac without problem BUT when I try to email pix from iPhoto to a PC user or to post on my Google Group board it only sends the 'title' I gave it in iPhoto or the 'PC134567.JPG' the camera assigns it. I have tried exporting and attaching to emails but that doesnt work either .. at least not all the time. AND when I do send them from iPhoto to my office PC they arrive NOT as an attachment but are embedded in the email message .. seriously what the heck is going on and why is this not working the way it used to pre-OS 10.5.1? What changed? How can I make this work the way it used to?
Thanks for reading and hopefully solving my problem

Thank you again .. I got home and immediately tried the fix you suggested .. sent a 'test' email and it worked perfectly.

  • Problems emailing any other file format other than a .jpg

I am having problems emailing any other file format other than a .jpg in mac Mail in Leopard. Is anyone else having this problem?
I have tried PDF, .tif and .doc documents, and they are small files, less than 150 kb. I have checked to ownership on the images and it says that I can read and write to them. I have also checked with my ISP and my mailbox capacity is 10 MB and was recently emptied. I am able to log into my ISP's webmail portal and send these types of attachments through there successfully, which has made me convinced that it has to do with Leopard or Mac Mail because I did not have these problems in Tiger.
When I send a message like this, Mail says, "Sending" for a while, and then says "Cannot send message using server:(Name of my server) Sending the message content to the server failed. Select a different outgoing mail server."

I've been sending .doc files with/without also .jpg as attachments without problems so it is possibly not a Leopard problem. I know this doesn't solve your problem though. Someone else may be able to solve the problem.

CAN ANYONE HELP??  I ALSO NEED TO KNOW WHICH/WHAT TO PICK FOR MY MAIL CLIENT. I'VE TRIED THREE DIFFERENT THINGS AND NONE OF THEM WORK!

Mail would be a good choice, unless you are using another email client, like Outlook. There is likely something wrong with the account setup in iPhoto. You may need to delete the account you set up and enter it again if you want to send with iPhoto instead of with Mail.
Give this a try to see what might be wrong: Drag a photo from iPhoto onto the Mail icon in the Dock. It will create a new message with the photo attached. If you click on the photo in Mail, it should show a popup menu to allow you to set the image size to send.
Check out some of the links in the More Like This section to the right. There might be some other suggestions.

  • Problems Emailing to Web Gallery From Camera Phone

I have a Sony Ericcson camera phone that has a mail client which I have set up to use GMail for both incoming and outgoing mail. I can't seem to get Web Gallery to accept the picture emails I send from the phone. The only thing I can conclude is that the server accepting the emails has problems parsing the message. I can use my desktop computer to send the image to Web Gallery, so it's there's nothing wrong with the image itself. I've also tried configuring my phone to use an AT&T mail server to send the picture, but have the same problems, so it's not the mail servers. I've also sent a full sized image (2 megapixels) as well as a small version (640x480) to see if it's related to file size, but they fail as well. Interestingly enough, I can send videos that I take from my phone to Web Gallery and it gets posted, so I figure it's not the phone.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? I've included the failure notice email I get back from the Web Gallery mail servers below if it can help diagnose the problem. Thanks.

After many trial and errors, I figured out that the web gallery mail servers were choking because the filenames my phone gives photos have capital ".JPG" extensions. If I change them to lowercase, the pictures get posted. Unfortunately, I can't rename the files inside the phone and need to transfer them out to my mac via bluetooth before I can rename it. To solve the problem for myself, I created an email address on another hosted website that pipes mail to a script that rewrites the problematic portions before sending it to my web gallery. It's somewhat of a roundabout way of doing it, but it works for now.
Hopefully the web gallery mail servers will be corrected to handle this situation.

  • Problem emailing using Mail from iPhoto.

When I email photos from iPhoto using Mail and have text under the photos some of the recipients receive the photos with the text superimposed onto the photo making it illegible. Is there some way to avoid this? If I send a copy to me everything is fine. I am not using any of the "fancy' templates in iPhoto, just plain photos with text.

Since posting this I found another post about this problem.  The response to that post should solve my problem.

  • Problem emailing embedded photos

I have been emailing photos with iPhoto for a year (since I bought my iMac) with no problems at all. Recently, when I try to email a photo, I select the size in iPhoto (e.g. Medium), Mail opens, the correct size photo flashes in the mail message and is immediately replaced by a mini thumbnail. The image size within Mail is set to Medium, but it's not working as the mini thumbnail is not Medium.
If I toggle the size setting within Mail to another size, then back to Medium, it seems to work; a medium-sized photo appears to be embedded in the mail message. However, when I tested this (sent the message to myself) the email I received only included the mini thumbnail again. (There was a separate attachment with the photo at the correct size.)
I get the same results as above when I attach the photo from within Mail.
Any ideas how to correct this?
P.S. My mail is set to compose in Rich text and should embed the photos (as it did for the past year). I suspect there is a bug in Mail due to a software update....

This was quite an interesting test. First of all, with regard to what you are assuming to be a size issue with the message sent directly through Mail, without any involvement of iPhoto, you must remember that when Mail utilizes View in Place, the image display in the message has nothing to do with the actual size of the image file. This is not any thumbnail, or preview, but simply Mail sizing the image display to your screen and Mail window.
On my G4 using Tiger and Mail 2.1.3, the displayed image looked very small, exactly like a thumbnail, but that is not the case. Apparently this is what you are also seeing with Mail 3.6 in 10.5.8, although I did not compare. However, on my Mac Pro, in Mail 4.2 in 10.6.3, the image ever so briefly had the same appearance, but quickly changed to fill the screen. Mail uses Preview as the render engine, and something is different in Mail 4.2 from what you must be seeing in Mail 3.6.
If you open either image from the message with, say Photoshop or Graphic converter, you will see that each image has the very same pixel dimensions. The only difference is in the JPEG compression that has been applied to each file, which makes the file size different, but not the original size of the photo as measured in pixels. Thus iPhoto is not downsizing the image as it would if using a setting other than Actual Size.
I am still investigating how the compression is selected in iPhoto that causes the difference in file size, and is behind the appearance when viewing in place in a message. It also appears to impact how Mail 2.1.3 was seeing the file, and the options offered when you control-click on the image. It is not the expected behavior. However, use of the Slideshow button in the message will show you the same size image in either case.
More when I found out more.

  • Help! Snow Leopard install (from Tiger) problems, Email, Printer, internet connections, etc.

Hi late, but done I just installed Snow Leopard, in hopes of all being better, like SL's ablity to send attachments as "Windows Friendly", better apps, etc.
Well, right away, after installing SL, iLife, & iWork there are problems! I also did the Updates right after.
First, my Address book was totally BLANK - including birthdays of grandkids, used in Birthday Widget! This despite that in Mail, "Previous Recipents" shows those ones "in my address book" & those not in it. But when I click on those I want in my email box ... they're not there, even my daughters!
Q - SO, how do I get this data back in, other than making new cards & groups ... already done in Tiger?
Also, I tried to send an attachment, Windows friendly" box was checked, but saw somewhere I have to "contact" my server? Why? (Verizon, which hates Apple, & caused many other problems since I got this!)
Second, my Printer, though shown as the default (Epson CX 6000) fails to print ... though all is connected properly. When I try to look for tutorials, etc on line, Safari bumped me from one negligible page to another, none of which I was looking for. Then when asking for "immediate tech help" I was disconnected, because Safari showed I wasn't connected to the net!!!
Third, How come the new Safari dosn't have a box where I can type in a URL to go to? seems awful weird!
Fourth, System Preferences, in Tiger too, unlocks various item pages, though I've locked them? also weird.
I'm off to the Apple store tomorrow, but IF anyone can help with any of these now ... you'd be an angel!
    Kathy LPV

If you did not repair permissions and restarted your computer after the installations do so now.
Check Epson's driver download website.  You probably need to update the drivers to work in Snow Leopard.  Please post back the results.

  • Problems Emailing a report via SSRS

    Hi all,
I have a problem where I am unsing SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to generate an email report
however the display format when using a SSRS table looks to replace a column entry with a carriage return
and also is not using all the screen realestate - it has a large spaced area on the right. I have even tried concatinating the field into 1 field
and displaying only 1 field on the report but in this can it only using half the screen and the space on the right is still the same...
can anyone shread some insight on where I could look next.

  • Problem emailing from export dialog

    Hi Guys!
One of the features I really want to work well is the export direct to my email program. I am having a problem and have tried every solution but am still stuck. I have added shortcuts to both Windows Live Mail and Windows Mail to the Export Actions folder and they show up in the Post Processing|After Export. When I export a file to send as an email it opens either mail program perfectly however it won't create a new message at all.
I tried putting shortcuts to my mail programs on my desktop and dropping pics directly on them and the same thing happens - the program opens but no new mail message is created.
    Any assistance appreciated!
    Lightroom 1.3.1
    Vista Home Premium
    Dell XPS M1210

That's because AVG dealt with it by deleting the very file you needed (they very confusingly call it healing it)! Now I don't know if it is a real Trojan or not, (AVG is prone to incorrect reporting of trojans) but it is a real pain and I'd rather not risk it, so I don't run mapimailer any more.
For some inexplicable reason the Lightroom developers seem to be ignoring all the calls for them to seamlessly include an email export function, to me it is the biggest hole in the program. (the mail shortcut in the external apps will not work for all users either depending on their OS and configuration, before some-one suggests it as a solution)

  • Zen Micro Problem- Email support not helpin

I tried email support, I waited over 24 hours just to have someone tell me to upgrade the firmware. I know this is not the problem and I have the upgraded firmware. I thought I would bring my problem here for assistance since I am getting canned responses from the email support team. Heres the problem:?Sunday Night- I put my Zen Micro on the USB charger, I have a trip on Monday and wanted to be sure I have a full charge. Monday morning- I notice that the Zen Micro is on, and has a blank screen. I can see a little line at the bottom, I can scroll through the keys but nothing on the screen. I take the battery out and put the unit away, at this point I have to leave and I opt not to take the unit with me.
Friday- I come back from my trip and decide to further research my problem. I find that I cannot reset the unit, I cannot access the restore screen. I hold the power in the ON position and insert the battery. I wait about 5 seconds, nothing is happening so I let off the power. At this point I get a blank screen. I plugged the unit into the USB charger (unit is off) and I get a blank screen. The blue LED light around the unit dims and brightens which to me indicates it is charging. Windows XP gives me the found new hardware wizard but Media player 0 attempts to locate the device and comes back to tell me to connect the device. I just bought this unit in December and was not expecting it to fail me this soon.
Saturday- I email support. The support team emails me back after 24 hours and gives me the firmware upgrade canned response. I have replied to that email but I would like to get this resolved pretty quick since I am now week into this ordeal.
I do alot of flying, the MP3 player makes the long flights a little more tolerable. This is my first time to purchase a creative unit. I weeded through some threads here and found other folks with the same problem. I assume that Creative Labs is aware of this problem and working to implement a fix soon that will resolve any future problems. I have my email headers, and contact information available upon request. I look forward to a speedy and sensible solution to this problem. Sincerely,Tim

What I am learning is that customer service is not really service. I was telling everybody about my great Zen Micro but, if I don't get a timely response, will start spreading the word. It's?frustrating to spend money on a product that doesn't even last eight months and that they don't support. I want to buy reliable electronics from companies that stand behind them. I wonder what it takes to get their attention.

  • How do I delete a problem email?

I have isolated an email that is causing my email system problems.  It cannot delete it.  Every time I do, it disappears and appears back, and to make things worse recreates it many times, and mulitple copies appear in the mail box. How to stop this?

I actually used this solution :
First, you need to show folders and files which are normally invisible. To do this, open Terminal in Utilities and copy/paste
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true
    Hit return, then copy/paste
    killall Finder
    and hit return again.
Next hit Cmd-Shift-G and enter ~/Library/Mail and hit return
Open the triangle next to Mail and  look for a file named
    .OfflineCache file
and move it to the Trash. If this file exists, doing this will probably fix the problem.
You will need to reverse the show hidden command by just adding false to it, instead of true and them killall Finder again.

I was also having this problem. Did a little sleuthing in Help. Here's the solution:
Add the photo to the email (using iphoto or any other method).
At the bottom of the new message screen there is a small text box/pop-up menu; it says "Image size" and then there are 4 pop up choices -- small, medium, large, actual size. Pick the one you want & voila!
Once I changed that pop up choice to "actual size" in the email program, it defaulted to that chosen size the next time I tried to share a photo via email using iphoto (or even when simply attaching directly through the email program). Prior to discovering this setting, no matter what size I chose in iPhoto, the photo was sizing as "small" - so mail was overriding the iphoto choice. Now, no more problem!
