Problems in accessing exported VIs in Labview 8.2.1 (in contrast to 7.1)

In a local client / server arrangement I use a server sided global VI
for buffering information from the server to the client. Server VI and
global VI are assumed to run in a common application, the client in
another.
The server exports the global VI but the client can't get access to it
and thus is not able to call the global VI by reference. Within one and
the same development environment everything works fine (example 1).
After distributing it into two projects with libraries or after
application building it doesn't (examples 2a & 2b)
A similar construct worked under LabView 7.1 but I got lost in
VI-settings, build settings and computer instance settings under 8.2.1.
The attached simplified examples show how it is intended to work (example 1) and the problems occurring (2a&2b).
It also includes a description of usage.
Can anybody help?

thank you for your example modifications. I am sorry that I still can't get them running. After adjusting the library path the program did what I expected: it simply opened another instance of the GLBVI....
I assume that it worked when you tried it. Maybe the difference simply was, that you opened both examples in one common lvproj environment (which is similar to the situation in example1). The both - client and server - use the same instance. But when operating it with two lvproj opened or later in two separat compilations client and server start their own instances and thus the data can't be interchanged.
Is this assumption correct or did I miss anything?

I am havinf problems with using Labview 6.1 VIs for report generations. The VIs provided by Labview are not executable! It seems as if they had internal errors, non fixed errors. Moreover, I am not able to open the diagram because it is password protected. Does someone know if there is any patch to fix this or the reason why these VIs don't work?

are you using the report Generation Toolkit for MS Office or the standard vis that LabVIEW provides for report generation?

AGENA E5071B VIs for LabView 7.0 (Evaluation Disk)

Hi there,
I had just installed a driver for a Network Analyzer (Model #: E5071B) from Agilent Technologies. The stated requirement on the download page was for LabView 6.0 and LabView 7.0 along with NI Visa 3.2.
I am currently running an evaluation edition of LabView 7.0 with NI Visa 3.3, and is facing some problems in using the VIs provided with the driver.
The error message observed is as follows:
"An error occured loading VI 'agena Interactive Application Example.vi'.
LabView load error code 9: VI version (7.1) is newer than LabView Version (7.0)"
Is there any chance that I can obtain those VIs that can be tested on my evaluation version.

Let me try to answer your question on whether does LabView takes over VB-written codes or vice versa. Now, from my experience with this E5071B Network Analyzer using LabView, Visual Basic and VBA macros, I believe any of these program can still take over the function on the ENA at any period of time (even if you have several of these running at the same instance). Actually, when I have a program controlling a ENA, I can still override the original program's setting with another program and provide a new set of commands and/or settings (but I am sure no one in the right mind would attempt to do this as it will affect the test results.)
My first concern is whether "other" programs can immediately detect the change or command that was directed to the ENA. Earlier on, I had several bad experience where the communication channel between my tester and ENA is dropped unexpectedly, resulting in a loss of control of the ENA. I am still unable to detect and resolve the cause of concern.
Continuing further, I don't think I am in position to help you with your second question, as my search around NI's website on this ENA seems rather limited. If I have any leads, I will post it here then.
On the sideline, if you are interested in running VBA macros directly on the ENAs, do check out Agilent's website as there are a list of Agilent-written codes for some of the general functions. On top of that, you may be interested in evaluating Agilent's IntuiLink. I doesn't personally use it in my line of work, but it seems to provide most of ENA's functionality through Microsoft Word and Excel.
Have you tried to direct your questions to Agilent Japan? That's where the support and development team are. If not, you can compile a list of questions, and I can assist you to contact Agilent Japan, as I am currently attached with Agilent Malaysia. It shouldn't be much of a hassle.

Problems installing FP v4.1 with LabVIEW v6.1 application

We have a LabVIEW v6.1 application that interfaces to a FieldPoint FP-1000 Network Module for its I/O. We have been distributing it to customers for about 18 months with the FieldPoint v4.0.1 driver - no problems other than some difficulty getting the Watchdog Timer setup properly via MAX.
The latest purchase of FieldPoint hardware came with FieldPoint v4.1 driver. There are three issues that have arisen with the advent of FP v4.1.
1.) There occurs several (identical) warning messages during the FP v4.1 installation on Windows XP SP2 (the exact number depends on the selection of features to install). The message is "Error 1931" and it says that Windows stopped the installer from updating the stdole2.tlb file. It suggests that we update the OS, which has been done, but the messages continue.
Question: is it critical that the stdole2.tlb in the FP v4.1 distribution be installed, or is this an error with no consequences?
2.) When installing FP v4.1, we select LabVIEW v6.1 support, but disable the Real-Time v6.1 Support and the Examples. We also disable the LabVIEW v7.0 and v7.1 Support and the LabWindows/CVI Support. We keep the Documentation and MAX features. We have gone through the install/uninstall cycle several times and each time when uninstalling the list of features includes LabVIEW v7.0 Support - not v6.1.
Question: does this indicate that the installer is erroneously installing v7.0 support and omitting the selected v6.1 Support? Or is this just an error in what is displayed by the uninstaller?
3.) After FP v4.1 is installed (with LabVIEW v6.1 Support selected) our LabVIEW v6.1 application runs but fails to communicate with the FP-1000 Network Module. Upon quiting the application, there is an error message stating that the FP.Open.vi failed to run because the FieldPoint Server .dll was not found (no filename for the server- just ".dll").
Question: Is this an issue of the installer not putting the proper FP Server .dll file on the computer (see question 2) or is this a matter of compatibility (do I need to install FP v4.1 on the development computer and remake my application)? Something is wrong here, FP v4.1 doesn't support a LabVIEW v6.1 application that runs fine under FP v4.0.1. Do I need to install the LabVIEW v7.x Support in addition to the v6.1 Support?

There has been few reported problem with installing FP4.1 in LabView 6.1, but none of them are similar to what you are experiencing. According to the 4.1 driver documentation certain vis from this driver version cannot be installed and used in LabView 6.1. What I would suggest is to uninstall the current driver and revert back to the ver. 4.0.1 since we know for sure it works in the LabView 6.1 environment. If you you'd like to use the 4.1 driver, then if would suggest upgrading to LabView 7.0 or 7.1.

Many problems with the 'Export to Text' (.txt) in CR Xi

I have listed many problems with the 'Export to Text' (.txt) function of CR Xi.
These problems are related to this export format only (meaning everything works fine in the Viewer or in the 'Export to PDF')...
- Multi-columns layout do not export as Multi-column (export only a one column);
- Numeric values with parenthesis for negative values or with a fix currency sign at the leftmost position are not exported correctly;
- Fields having a Suppress formula which is "WhilePrintingRecords" do not appears when exported;
- Fields with 'Suppress double value' checked are not always suppressed when exported to Text.
- 'Keep Group Together' flag is not working.
- 'Reset Page Number After' simply does not works when exported to text;
- 'Keep object together' on TextBox/Section is not working.
- Whenever a group is ending on the last line of a page, the the following page as the same Group header as the previous group with no records until the page is filled, then the PageBreak and PageHeader is missing but the records of the following group appears.
I would like to know what is the status of the 'Export to Text' function (is it a deprecated function not supported anymore???).
If still supported, when will these bugs be fixed???

Export to Text is supported till date. Crystal Reports 2008 also supports this with Keep together working however when I tried with format with multiple columns, it didnot show up in the exported text file.

Gallery problems and photo export issues with all images JPG Raw damaged.

I'm starting to panic. I trusted Aperture 3 and upgraded entire library from Aperture 2.0.
Yesterday I uploaded new project from a photoshoot. and today is gone. Just like that. I did some export already before from that project so I know that it was there.
Yesterday I had couple crashes. But it should be saved??

It does it in 32 and 64 bit? What is the problem? I can expot JPG and raw and get same result. entire gallery from 2000 to 2010 same issue.

this gave me a scare. I deleted preferences + everything in pro applications. I deleted Aperture and reinstall everything from the disk. Updated library and now it works. I even get my lost project back. It remembered my Places, but not faces, strange.
I have no idea what happened. But from now on I double copy files.

check that the user CF is running under has proper
permissions to access
the remote location. CF runs as a local user, so would not
normally
have access rights to remote locations...

Problem in WAD: export to PDF all the tab panels of a TabPage

I have a problem with WAD and export to PDF.
My template (schema):
Group -->
Container Barraher --> Button Group
Container Form --> Tab Pages -->
TabPanel1 --> Container1 --> Analysis1
TabPanel2 --> Container2 --> Analysis2
TabPanel3 --> Container3 --> Analysis3
My problem:
The button exports only the Analysis we are seeing (the TabPanel which is opened) but I would want the button exports the three Analysis. Is it possible?

Can you remove the Data Bindings and see if you use the Default if PDF is working ?.
Another way also might be is to save the Same Template with a new Name, then Keep only the Data Providers and the Analysis Grid.
Back on Main Template in the Button Group use this new Template as a Print Template.

Problem in the exportation to PDF (Indesign CS6):
Page with 3 layers: 1st background image, 2nd semi-transparent white square, 3rd text in color black.
It looks OK in Indesign, but when exporting, in the PDF file the letters are not black, they are gray. What could happened? I've tryed already the obvious solutions (the order of layers is OK, restarted the PC...)

the default [Black] swatch (0/0/0/100 in CMYK) really is a lighter color than a rich black mixed from four CMYk ink, or 3 RGB colors. It would be pretty unusual to see a black background in an image that wasn't a mix.
Do you have the preference in ID for Appearance of Black set to Display All Blacks Accurately? That will show you the difference in ID on screen as well.

I have a problem in accessing the node3a's current element. Following is the context structure (which I am getting from backend BAPI).
Node1 is the parent node, it has 3 child nodes, and further Node2c has 3 child node. I need to access current elements of node 3a and display them in a form.
Node1    0..n               singleton-true
Node2a     0..n          singleton-true
Node2b     0..n          singleton-true
--- Node2c     0..1       singleton-true
node3a   0..1        singleton-true
node3b   0..n        singleton-true
node3c   0..n        singleton-true
I have written the following code to access but its giving no output, i tried priniting size and i am getting the size as 1 that means there is data.
wdContext.node2c().node3a().getElementAt(0).getAttributeValue("Meins");
if atleast i get this one element "Meins", i can put a loop and access all other elemets, but no luck.
i also tried:
wdContext.node2c().node3a().current3aElement().getMeins();     but still no luck.
Can you please help me in this as i m really stuck and needs to b resolved urgently.

I want to know one thing while on loading( or execution of service ) are you sure that values are coming in all node.
if cardinality is 0-n means it can have 0 or n numbers of elements in it. and even if there is one single element is there then you can access it otherwise it will throw null pointer exception. if there is some value in 3b then you can access it by.
wdContext.nodeNode1().nodeNode2c().nodeNode3b().getCurrentElement().getAttributeAsText("Attribute1");
Check it and let us know if any issue persist.
